Short break with family and dogs Positive: The apartment was lovely and lounge and kitchen diner area great for family. Beds were very comfortable and the place was warm. Location lovely for beach break and walks with dogs. Negative: The key is difficult and sometimes it took ages to open or lock door. This needs resolving The kitchen missed some simple items like salt, pepper and oven gloves
We loved the location, it’s close to the beach and parade. The local shops are just around the corner which is handy. We stayed for the weekend and had a great time in Saltburn-by-the-Sea. It’s a fabulous Victoria seaside resort with plenty to do. The walks are fabulous. The accommodation was comfortable and everyone slept well. The shower is great which is always a plus point with my family members. The kitchen is very well equipped but please be aware there are no oven gloves so if you are using the grill/oven take your own! My only criticisms are that the property isn’t very clean. There are a lot of cobwebs that could easily be dealt with by housekeeping but I feel they are doing this property a disservice. The porch to the front door is not very welcoming with lots of spiders, leaves and feathers so it’s a real shame this isn’t kept neat and tidy as it’s the first impression you have of the property. Overall we had a lovely time and didn’t let the negative points ruin our stay.
Returning to Saltburn with my elderly parents for a final trip to our beautiful home town was extra special. Finding the perfect apartment to stay in was the icing on the cake for us all. The large open plan living space and kitchen/dining was both clean and uncluttered. Local family and friends were able to drop in to visit and it truly felt like we were living back in town. We enjoyed very comfortable beds, a quiet environment and perfect proximity to the beach and shops. We are very grateful to our host and would recommend this idyllic place highly. The location is 5*, the apartment spacious and the beds super comfy! A few extra things, like extra toiletries, entrace mat and shoe rack and possible welcome basket would make it super special. If you are looking for a family friendly apartment this is a great find. We had no issue's in parking straight outside of the apartment, but knowing Saltburn in summer, I would be a little concerned about finding a spot. My advise would be, when you find a spot, stay in it as everything is in walking distance. We would happily return.
We enjoyed staying in this apartment. Great location. Lovely comfortable beds. Saltburn is a beautiful place to visit. We liked the convenience of the apartment when going down to the beach every day. The kids loved the amusement arcade!
Great two nights stay . Beds super comfy . Apartment toasty warm on a very cold January weekend and great Location for the sea and the town. Kitchen equipment very basic ( 4 coffee cups) but you can get by no problem . Big plus was that we can bring the pooches and they thoroughly enjoy the beach walks which were right on our doorstep. Definitely recommend for a great stay !

It was clean and tidy just needs a few tweaks. Positive: Location was good for beach and town centre Negative: Bed was too small there’s enough room for king size bed in the main room. The mattress was very soft. I’m not very comfortable, when you turn over your partner will turn over due to the bed bouncing The bathroom sink needs to be smaller so that you can access the toilet correctly and this is why the toilet seat is on an angle. I am 6 foot and it was very hard to get my legs in . It was very noisy from the apartment above on the Saturday night early hours of the morning, not sure if this is due to the flooring or just the people that were in it. When you walk down the steps to the apartment, the garden area was full of rubbish and broken tiles it just needs tidying before guest arrive. Also, it may be worth the owners getting some dimmer lighting if you’re stopping in at night time as the large light is too close to the settee and the timer for the light constantly clicks which is behind the settee. The television is very hard to sort out if your only there a few days , just normal Tv would be a great option if your not okay with tech. I wish I would’ve got a higher apartment so we could have a better view of the sea. There’s not much look at through the basement window.
The flat was well appointed, clean and comfortable but cold so I couldn,t give a perfect score.
we stayed here for 8 nights late Sept. First the good points. Great location at the top of the Cliffs leading down to the sea. Plenty of free parking, quiet at night. Good internet and television. Very comfortable beds and linen and towels good and plentiful. Kitchen adequately equipped. Comfortable furniture (although might be a squeeze with 4). Spacious and airy. Now the not so good. The approach to the flat is via a weed and rubbish choked area with large bags of rotting weeds. The door surround has lots of spiders in webs. Even accessing the key safe involved disposing of several. Lots of cobwebs inside including behind bed head. Black mould around bath. Hob damaged and dirty (advised not to use for 24hrs). No cleaning stuff i.e. for toilet or hand wash soap. No condiments. No oven glove. No recycling.Host and Stay respond quickly but mainly with standard phrases not concrete action. After 48 hours and 20 messages we gave up. Many of these issues raised by previous occupants.
Amazing, we didn't want to leave and looked at how much this apartment is to buy but it wasn't list Positive: The location and apartment was superb.We travelled here on and for my Mother's 72nd birthday and we adored our stay here Negative: The checking in time and having to phone the agency multiple times to gain entry. The entry thing was partly my fault because I'd not noticed prior emails so had to pay the waiver charge whilst waiting in The Marine Pub with all our luggage.But the agency allowed us to enter 1 hour earlier (3pm) which we were very greatful for. Also having no where to leave our luggage was a draw back because our train home wasn't while 1pm.However I understand that this is so there are no issues regarding possible valuables in the luggage (so no accusations can be made by some guests) The garden could have beeb better maintained but it really didn't bother us.

Nice stay at smugglers rest. Great location on the front with plenty of parking right outside. Everything we needed and plenty of space and comforts to feel right at home. Beautiful walks down to the sea (plenty of steps) when the lift is closed for seasonal maintenance. Wonderful cafes and restaurants all on your doorstep and supermarket also in walking distance. Great walking via the Cleveland Way to Staithes if you are feeling active otherwise a 40 min £3 bus from Saltburn.

Positive: The location was fabulous and the apartment was spotless. Negative: We thought we would have sea views but didn’t realise it was a lower ground floor apartment so was initially slightly disappointed. However, the weather was great and so we just went and sat outside on a bench on the cliff top with our morning cup of coffee and got chatting to the locals out for their morning dog walks which was lovely. We also saw a pod of dolphins swimming by one morning which was an added bonus. It also meant we had a private entrance separate to the rest of the building which nice (and not so many steps).

Damp, dirty, lots of cobwebs/spiders in bedrooms. Fridge disgusting! Positive: Location was great! Negative: Very dirty when we arrived! Damp, white flakes of paint on the floor coming off the damp. Smells of damp, not good if you have any chest problems. Apartment needs a good clean, not sure what the cleaners actually did. Fridge was disgusting. Cutlery had dried food on everything! Main bedroom at the back, was covered in cobwebs and spiders, especially behind the head board. Looked liked it hadn’t been hoovered for years! Hairs in beds, towels black marks and bugs on! Entrance not clean. Hoover really smells when I had to use it. No WiFi! Shame because the apartment is nice and big. Needs another toilet.

Very spacious apartment in great location, clean and good quality furnishing. We were disappointed that the electronic guidebook that had many chapters wasn’t accurate about the tv. It stated there were two remotes and we could only find one, that didn’t really work. We eventually found another one at the back of a kitchen cupboard, but it looked broken and didn’t work. We emailed host and stay and while responses were prompt they didn’t really help. They said housekeeping could look on Monday but this didn’t materialise. Also one of the lamps in the bedroom didn’t work, and the front garden area was full of rubbish. The house was very clean but it all felt a bit uncared for and the support felt very much like it was from a fairly anonymous call centre rather than someone who knew the property. Little things like there are two sets of WiFi instructions, one outdated. No salt and pepper. Broken shelf in fridge. Lovely house but needs a bit of love and care unfortunately

Good location, spacious property and comfortable beds. Positive: The location was great, right on the front and a quick walk down some steps to the far end of the beach. Only a short walk into the town. The property was a great size with comfortable beds. The kitchen/living area was lovely and spacious. Negative: There were a few things missing that would have been useful such as oven gloves, chopping board and instructions for the TV, Oven and Coffee Machine. Regarding cleanliness, it was mostly really good but there were quite a few cobwebs in the entrance hall and main bedroom and we kept finding wood lice and daddy long legs throughout the property. Lastly, there are lots of flies at the entrance, surrounding the door and as you enter the property, they fly in. We asked for a later checkout due to our car breaking down and not having a vehicle at the time of checkout but were told that ‘due to advanced cleaning practices and schedules the properties are allocated the full time in between reservations to carry out the changeover to a high standard and therefore we would be unable to certify a late check out’ Check out is 10am and Check in is 4pm so I would expect in this time frame that the entrance could be cleaned and rid of flies. A fly zapper in that area would also be useful as it is clearly an ongoing problem. At a cost of £388 for a two night stay, it’s quite expensive to say you only have the property for less than 48 hours and with the issues mentioned above .
Negative: Water for bath was never hot. Big damp patches on celing in the bedroom. Fridge broken. On arrival, the apartment wasn't cleaned . Don't like the 4 o'clock arrival time..for the price you charge its ridiculous that we lose the first day. It doesn't take 6 hrs to clean a two bed apartment.
Positive: Beautiful apartment in a fantastic location on the seafront. Very nicely decorated with a brilliant shower, spacious rooms and extremely comfortable beds. Lovely and warm, we felt very at home, thank you Negative: Wish more tea / coffee / coffee pods and sugar had been left. Also, one loo roll between four is a little tight. The shelf in the door of the fridge needs replacing

I didn’t like the numerous air fresheners - I had to hide them in a cupboard! The pictures didn’t do it justice in one way, but also were misleading in that its basement level so you can’t actually see the sea from the windows
Really nice apartment and so conveniently located on the sea front and couple of mins walk also to the near by bars/shops/restaurants. The rooms are 100% as advertised and all done to a good standard.

The property was a great space, nice, big and bright. Ample chilling out space and lots of dining space too. The location was good too, opposite the sea and walking distance to the town and cafes and restaurants etc.

Second nights lights stopped working on stairs so was dangerous . Think 10 am is too early for checkout especially when you can’t get in till 4 pm on arrival date

Positive: Good seafront location. Negative: Although the property looked recently refurbished, some of the finishes were not top quality. There were also a decent amount of cobwebs and spiders around the property.The property appeared to be for sale at the time of our stay, which potentially impacted the care taken to keep it fresh and clean. Also, it is wise to take note of the additional payment needed after booking for 'insurance' as this is not an optional extra.
Great location, light and airy apartment, comfy beds and very spacious just a little run down, but nothing that wouldn’t put us off staying here again. (Anyone who has a spider phobia might want to give this one a miss thou the front door and where the key safe is really needs cleaning as there are hundreds of spiders- scary!)

Apartment was just as described. Even though it’s a basement there are plenty of windows and it’s very bright inside most of the rooms. Easy access with parking right out front. Walking distance to tram, beach, restaurants, and arcade.
I wouldn’t say the apartment was spotless like the other reviews, there was a lot of spiders and webs around which led us to believe the cleaning wasn’t done very well in the corners of rooms and behind the couches. There wasn’t any tea towels or oven gloves provided so it made it difficult to cook etc. the entrance to the property was not pleasant unfortunately, it is a basement apartment & the entrance was covered in a porch area which had again a lot of insects on the walls & webs, which it would have been nice for this to have been cleared out on check in day. The beds were comfy and the master bedroom very nice but the second bedroom didn’t have curtains, just white blinds which let in alot of light. I just didn’t feel comfortable in the property which was a shame as the decor is really lovely

Positive: Situation and size of flat. Negative: Lack of upkeep outside the flat. Front and rear gardens were untended and a little effort would clear this.
Fabulous place to stay would not hesitate to recommend to friends and family and its massive. Will definitely be back

Great facilities lovely modern decor We did have a problem with check in and had to call the Vrbo call centre an hour after we were due to check in as we had not received the key lock code. Tried to use messaging service but it was as not answered,

disappointing Positive: nice spacious modern flat. Negative: when booking this flat I went by the photographs which showed some lovely sea views but when we got there we were booked into a basement flat with no view whatsoever. see attached photo. after booking a non refundable booking I was then bullied into supplying a £250 damage deposit which incurred a further £10 fee. none of this was mentioned in the original booking process. Because of these two issues I will never book a “Host and Stay” property again.
It was a clean and modern apartment with an amazing location. The rooms were bigger than expected with really high ceilings. Plus, it was just a 30 second walk outside and you could see the beautiful sea, cliffside, and pier of Saltburn. It was a great base for a few days visiting family. Would definitely visit again.

Nice apartment in great location. Positive: Looked good, very clean, well equipped and great location. Small welcome pack. 2 good sized bedrooms with double beds. Negative: Flaking ceiling paint and some evidence of damp. Outside litter.
Lovely property but it does need some TLC. Positive: The furniture, space and location were superb. The owners have clearly put a lot of money and thought into the property. The check in process was easy. Negative: The ceilings throughout the building were shedding plaster onto the floor, there's clearly a damp issue and there was even mould growing in places. I know it's hard when in an older building, but also unacceptable for the amount of money it costs. The flat could also benefit from a deeper clean as there were countless cobwebs, and also from a few more cooking dishes.

Positive: The apartment was clean and well furnished. Comfortable bed. Good location with parking. Negative: We were very disappointed that we were in the lower level apartment and there was no sea view (despite the images on the description showing a sea view) this was the main reason we chose it. The pathway and garden to the apartment would benefit from a tidy up and clean and the porch area would benefit from a lick of paint.
Overall it was a lovely stay thank you. A great location for exploring the breathtaking Yorkshire coastline. Positive: The location, just across from the sea front, was perfect and there was always plenty of easy and free parking just across the road. It was lovely to sit on the benches on the front and watch the beautiful sunsets. The apartment was easily accessed and was bright, clean, airy and furnished nicely. The beds were comfortable and the linen was fresh and clean. The shower over the bath was nice and powerful. The coffee pods and milk were a nice, welcoming touch. The welcome manual was useful and informative. We were able to easily access Netflix in the evening, but thought a throw would have been a nice touch. Negative: Most are minor, but worth a mention: The glass hob was badly chipped on the front left - we didn’t need to use it, but I wouldn’t have as I would presume it wasn’t safe? There were no oven gloves - hopefully an oversight, as they are needed. Also, no tea towels, would have taken some along if I’d known. Kitchen implements appeared a bit flimsy - especially the wobbly pizza wheel! No bath mat or anti-slip mat in the bathroom There was some general noise, from creaking floorboards, as the guests in the upstairs apartment moved about, but I appreciate it’s an older building and we got used to it. I’m a plant lover, so the plastic plants didn’t appeal personally, but I appreciate that they complemented the over all look. One of the TV remotes had been chewed - presumably by a previous canine guest! The hangers in the wardrobes were so cheap and flimsy they were only useful for lighter clothing - one was already broken on arrival, but it was easy to see why. There were several damp patches and some peeling paint on some of the ceilings, but again it’s an older building and there was no associated smell.
Amazing location, lovely flat. Positive: Amazing location, right beside the beach. Property was much bigger than expected. Visited on a hot week in June and the apartment stayed pleasantly cool. Plenty of free parking right outside the door. Host had provided tea, coffee and milk, which was very thoughtful. Negative: There was some peeling paint that looked like there was a damp issue (although there wasn't a damp smell).
The flat is bright, clean, comfortable and spacious. It worked well for us. Comfortable beds, great shower. Host and Stay were responsive when at the flat, and I had a query about the heating. The location was great. Well placed for everything really. Great local cafes and shops. Saltburn is very pretty.
