Comfortable, spacious apartment with friendly, helpful hosts. Positive: Spacious for 2, well equipped kitchen diner overlooked a private patio and the tea room garden. We were generally at the property when the tea room was shut and it was perhaps too cold for customers to be outside so we weren't bothered by any noise or privacy issues. There is a separate lounge overlooking the road which was quiet in the evening. Co-op and Lidl within walking distance, as were a choice of eating out venues. Excellent take away stotties from the tea room were very handy. Negative: Free parking outside the property is from 5pm to 9am. Free unlimited time road parking is available a little further away.

Great place to stay, plenty of room for 2 people very clean and everything there we needed for a long weekend stay, easy accessible routes to all the major towns and villages. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in this area

Great location for NYMR and all the amenities that Pickering have to offer. Positive: Great location in Pickering and plenty of space for two people. Beautiful decor and everything you need. The location meant we could explore Pickering and not have to use our car or public transport. We had a problem with the bath and this was dealt with the efficiently. Negative: Step stairs and as the flat is above a bakery/cafe you can hear them come in at 7-30am and on one of the days the smell in the flat was strong from the cooking downstairs. No Tv in the kitchen diner. No parking and you can not park at Pickering Castle, you can park on the streets near Pickering parking. It would have been nice if there was a few essentials as there was only 2 sachets of sugar, 3 tea bags, 2 sachets of coffee and 4 sachets of milk on the fridge. It may seem a little thing but other places we have stayed have a welcome hamper and stocked with tea and coffee.

Very pleasant stay in Pickering that we would use again without hesitation. Positive: Location directly opposite NYMR Pickering Station and just round the corner from the high street. Plenty of places to eat. Property was very comfortable and a good size for just two people with good facilities and exceptional value. Little or no traffic noise. Negative: Parking is a bit of a problem as the property has no dedicated space with it. You can park free opposite during the hours of 6pm to 8am but are restricted to 1 hour during the day. Having said that we were advised that we could park for free without time limits on the roads around Pickering Castle (Castle Gate) which has a pedestrian alleyway running downhill from the Castle to Pickering Station (Brant Hill) . We also managed to park at the far end of Potter Hill. So in reality we were able to park to load and unload then move the car where parking was unrestricted. I did have qualms about what parking would be like but in practice it worked out quite well. Would it put me off using the property again? No.

Fabulous bolthole Positive: Love the modern open feel. More than enough room for 2. The terrace is definitely a bonus if a little unloved. The bedroom was fab and a really comfortable bed. Negative: There wasn't anything we didn't like but the trim around the bottom of the shower was a bit grimey.

Lovely apartment within easy reach of the Moors, walking routes and local amenities. Parking was fine, a free street up the hill worked well for us. Cosy apartment which was warm and had majority of the things you’d need. Only thing I’d have liked was tea/ coffee, we only got 2 teabags left and 2 milk sachets. Usually with Airbnbs this isn’t something you have to bring with you but would stay again!

Positive: The flat was lovely done to high standard,there was an issue with cobwebs and previous guest had left dirty washing in the machine.was told parking free at pickering castle,but only for visitors and opens 10am to 6pm.there is 1 hr parking on the road opposite during the day and free 6.30pm to 9am,we did manage to find parking on the road at caslegate,for the 10 days.need to be aware that the bedroom is up stairs and bathroom downstairs,wich is a bit challenging for getting up a few times a night.We did have a lovey stay regardless.

The property was beautiful and renovated to a really high standard. It is located above a lovely tea rooms and is directly opposite to where the steam train pulls in. My Mum, 1 year old daughter and I had a really pleasant stay here. However, it could have been a little cleaner and the terrace definitely needs some tlc. The weeds were over a foot high! The shower tray closest to where you step in had an obvious orange layer of grime that I don't know how the cleaners have missed! There were also dark hairs on the seat cushions of the dining room and glasses and cutlery all needed a good wash. Bare in mind it is double yellow lines directly outside and the parking during the day opposite is only for 1 hour. We found plenty of residential streets to park on round the back though. I would definitely stay here again if visiting Pickering as I'm sure the cleaning issues will be noted and rectified after this review. 🙂

Lovely apartment in great location. Positive: Location great for the railway, my main reason for visit. Very nicely furnished, ideal for relaxing on my return in the evenings after a day out. Negative: Sticky rings on kitchen worktop where it hadn't been cleaned properly

Fantastic location Positive: Excellent flat in a great spot. Accommodation was clean and tidy and very comfortable. We absolutely loved it and will be coming back Negative: Nothing not to like

Very enjoyable and would heartily rec it to future guests. It was modern, clean and comfortable with Positive: We self catered and brought our breakfasts with us. Negative: The only criticism would be that there was a smell of cigarette smoke in the lounge. As neither of us smoke this was unpleasant, we don’t know if a previous gust had smoked in there or if it was drawn in from outside.

Excellent Accommodation, parking is limited Positive: Everything about the accommodation was superb. It had everything we needed for a lovely break. Negative: Parking. Space outside the location was only allowed between 6pm and 8am so we had to move the car during the day. This isn't the fault of the owner but can be awkward having to move the car before 8 am Despite this the flat was beautiful and had a lovely patio which is a sun trap.

We really enjoyed our stay. Lovely to be above the bakery too. The food there is delicious. It was much more spacious than we imagined! Really enjoyed the stay.

Positive: The location is excellent. Negative: Not very clean lots of cobwebs. Had to wash all crockery on arrival. Grill did not work very well. Hob took an age to heat up. Out door terrace couldn't use full of weeds. This could be a very attractive area for guests.

I held off writing a review as we were waiting for the host to review our concerns, but after a week, we have not heard anything. The apartment itself was lovely when you walk in, checkin instructions great, location great and on first impression had everything you need. However upon actually using the apartment that’s when things start to go wrong. Kitchen:- - Mould on the tea towel - Mould in the washing machine - any crockery or cutlery we took out to use were dirty. Bathroom:- - black mould on shower end - whole shower was dirty - flush was weak for the toilet Bedroom:- - Stains on the actual headboard Our main issue was the bathroom and the kitchen, which we reported, was told that it would be sorted whilst we were out, and never did get fixed. Second night we chased and nothing happen. By the third night, we chased and again nothing. We checked out on Monday morning feeling quite disappointed. My husband is on immunosuppressants, so he was not able to use shower

The location genuinely couldn’t be better — right in the heart of everything. The flat itself is quirky, charming, and has a lot of potential. Having a lovely tea room just downstairs is a real treat (and definitely dangerous for the waistline). The outdoor seating area is great too and was a nice bonus. However, the downside is that the apartment isn’t kept very clean. We’re usually not overly fussy, but there were cobwebs throughout, the shower wasn’t properly cleaned, and my pillow looked like someone had stepped on it with dirty boots. There were also crumbs left from previous guests. A few fixtures, like the handrails and clothing rail, are loose and feel like they’re about to come off the wall, so be careful with those. The property is managed by Host & Stay, who send an overwhelming number of emails and texts — many of them unnecessary and at all hours. There are definitely better‑maintained places to stay in Pickering. That said, if this apartment were brought up to a decent st

A very spacious air b&b, we particularly liked the dining space. We found the provisions of things such as bin bags were a bit frugal and the lack of parking was tricky for us with a baby and involved moving our car a lot due to the time restrictions on the on-street parking. If you're happy to be out all day then this might not be an issue for others.

Positive: The whole accommodation was superb, facilities and everything in the apartment was 1st class 👌 Negative: The parking fiasco , time restrictions ,charges & having to walk quiet a walk with luggage to accommodation. I don't trave light when traveling by car ,so this was a downside of our stay !.

Positive: Excellent accommodation and fully equipped kitchen. Great central location and the outdoor space was a bonus! Negative: Could use a fan in the very hot weather.

fantastic cant wait till next year Positive: This is our Third stay at sleepers no8 its a super location right opposite the NYMR steam railway close to shops bars etc a lovely market town plenty of local facilities lots of local country side walks its just a fantastic location super clean comfortable flat everything you need lovely quite location plus outside space we love it so much we have already re booked for a week next September Negative: nothing its the best place to stay why go anywhere else when you find the perfect place for a lovely getaway we always enjoy our stay and go home rejuvenated

If you’re a train buff you’ll love this property. Imagine waking up with a view of Pickering steam railway station then hopping across the road in delight after a coffee and treacle tart from Botham’s bakery immediately below. That’s what I did, and so should you. Everything required for a great weekend.

A nice clean light and airy apartment above an excellent tea shop. Directly opposite the NYMR station at Pickering and convenient for all Pickering amenities. Well equipped certainly for a single occupant although I’d forgotten to advise the managers that the main oven didn’t work. The balcony overlooked the tea shop garden was overlooked by customers there. It also had several other properties overlooking it so not as private as the photographs implied but otherwise all as seen in the pictures.

Great place to stay, in the centre of Pickering and would highly recommend to stay there Positive: Location of property is fabulous , the back of the property is an amazing place to sit to have a drink plus the overall place is nice and comfortable. The bed is nice and comfortable Finally, the kitchen and living room gave you an alternative to staying in the evening. Negative: The only small thing is that the Wi fi code was incorrect at first but, it was sorted out in the end , the other thing to watch out for is unlimited free parking which is 6pm-8am, otherwise it 1 hour.

This is our second stay here as we love the location and apartment so much. It really does feel like home away from home.

We had a lovely stay and overall were very pleased. Our only negative points were the fact that aside from the flat being very clean, sadly the shower edge was yellow with muck which I cleaned myself on arrival as we wouldn’t have wanted to shower in such a dirty edged tray. Also the bare essentials were very sparse, including an empty washing up liquid bottle and a tiny milk sachet. Seeing as the flat is over the top of a tea shop, it would have been a nice touch to have a pint of milk and maybe a packet of biscuits.. would cost the owners pennies but would have made such a nice welcome. We would definitely love to return and hope these small points would be considered to make the stay a full five star rating. Beautiful town and great location. Loved the layout and the patio area. Can highly recommend the Italian restaurant at the top of the town and the cakes from the shop downstairs were fabulous.. thanks again for a lovely stay.

Perfect accomodation for Yorkshire roamers, lovely ans spacious apartment, we love it! Positive: Wonderful accomodation accross the steam railway to whitby. house was perfect, everythin was clean and working, absolutely no problems whit our stay. Thank you for your hospitality, must come back sometime!

Nice flat in a nice little town Positive: Great location Negative: Nothing really apart from a little step down into the living room that we kept stumbling over, but that was our fault for forgetting about it. The fridge requires securing as it was loose on its base

Positive: Great roomy property, very convenient location. Negative: Bed is a little too soft for our tastes, but that's very much personal taste. Toilet has a quirk that it short flushes on a long press and long flushes on a short flush.

Negative: There's noise from the tearoom downstairs during the day but this really wasn't an issue for us as we were out & about sightseeing all day - just something to consider if you're planning on sitting around during the daytime

Good place for two in Pickering, above a brilliant bakery!

Great location for trips to the beach and exploring the nearby villages. The Airbnb itself was modern, clean, and very well laid out, loved the roll-top bath! There were just a couple of minor issues during our stay, such as part of the oven not working and the toilet flush being a bit unreliable. We also would have appreciated a few more basic supplies, like a sponge, extra cloths, and additional toilet roll, as one roll for a 3–4 day stay may not be enough for all guests. Overall, we had a really nice stay, just a few small improvements would make it even better.

I would live there if I could! Absolutely loved our stay! Positive: Literally everything. Like a home from home! Negative: Free parking was more difficult over the weekend but there were plenty of car parks nearby so no issues really.

Comfortable apartment in a good location with some lovely features. Positive: The location was great and the apartment was very cosy and well furnished. Negative: We were unable to get wifi as a password failed to connect. With many conversations with Host & Stay, who only continued to relay the same information from the house guide we eventually left with no connection during our two night stay. Also the toilet was difficult to flush which was a bit unpleasant.

Beautiful flat above a lovely teashop. Only issue was parking which is free only at night but between the hours of 8am-6pm we had to park by the castle. This was ony an issue as it was uphill, a 10 min walk and my elderly husband found this a little difficult. The flat itself was nicer than in the photos with a great terrace outside. Easy access to the high street and local pubs and restaurants and there is also a Co-Op and Lidl 5 mins away which was very helpful to buy tea & milk etc

The perfect little Yorkshire getaway! Pickering is the cutest little town, and being above a tea room was lovely and cosy. This apartment was great... a warm bath was needed after hours outside at the markets. Underfloor heating was magnificent. Really close to the Moors and Whitby. Would come back in a heartbeat. The team is also very attentive and accommodating, it was a pleasure to stay here.

We have stayed in this lovely apartment before and remembered it being fantastic so decided to go pack. The apartment itself is fantastic, has everything you need, is really comfy and in an amazing location. However when we arrived it was late and we couldn't get the heating working and it was freezing inside. It turned out that the heating was operated downstairs in the tea rooms so will had to wait until morning to sort that out. I did message the host and they did respond but were unable to sort the problem. I had also really looked forward to a bath but sadly the hot water tap wouldn't turn and only cold water came out. The apartment was generally clean except the carpet at the top of the stairs had a lot of stains, it is a place where people have to walk so maybe light coloured carpet isnt the best choice. Also both the toilet and the shower had quite a lot of limescale which really should have been cleaned better. Apart from that we really enjoyed our stay.

Spacious apartment in great location Positive: The interior of the apartment is lovely, very spacious and nicely decorated, and it had most things we needed. We liked the claw foot bath and the bed was very comfortable. The location was great - opposite the train station and near the centre of town. Negative: The outside patio needed some TLC. The only thing growing were weeds growing between the pavers. It could be a nice space as the bakery below has tea gardens just beyond the patio. There was a coffee machine but no coffee pods, and only two tea bags and coffee sachets were provided, which seemed a bit stingy. The layout was fine for us, but wouldn't suit someone with mobility issues as there's a flight of steps to get up to the apartment and steps up to the bedroom. There is also no long term parking nearby so you have to park near the castle, about a 5 minute walk away.

We had a great break and would use the same accommodation again in the future. Positive: Lovely flat, right in the centre of Pickering above a Botham’s tea room & bakery. Nicely equipped and tastefully decorated and furnished. There is a flight of stairs to the flat and another to the bedroom, so wouldn’t be great for anyone with mobility issues. It is located right opposite the steam train station, there is limited day time parking there 8- 6pm only one hour and no return for two hours, but there is free parking at the castle not too far away.

Perfect apartment , exactly as described with everything you could need for a short break away . We stayed for a week and appreciated the flexibility of a full kitchen and walkable distance to supermarkets and pubs and restaurants . Also probably the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in at an air bnb !

Nice property, shame about email overload Positive: The apartment was well laid out. Very comfy bed. Negative: The overload of emails from the company, including after check out. The apartment is above a tea shop, so quite noisy from 9am. Parking is a 5 min walk away up a steep hill.

A lovely apartment. Just across from the railway station and well situated for shops and restaurants. Light & airy, in good decorative order, with everything we needed for a short stay. We really enjoyed our time there.

Sleeper's is an ideal home away from home situated right in the centre of Pickering. The house itself is above a lovely tearoom (Botham's), and the design inside is super modern and really clean. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area. Free parking can be found on the adjacent roads, a short walk away. We would most definitely stay here again!

Beautiful place, everything was perfect

Well what can I say about sleepers no8. I didn’t pay attention to the floor plan so was surprised (in a great way!) by the layout! It was so full of light and we loved that. It was so clean and bright and just a fabulous and comfortable space. The outside area is a gem and we were lucky enough to have week long sunshine. The rolltop bath is glorious and the bed was so comfy, I’ve not slept that well in ages. Love that you can hear the steam train too from open windows. The town of Pickering is just gorgeous and we loved the bookshop at the end of the street and the fact we could walk everywhere. Parking stressed me out the first day but I knew it was a concern from booking. It was purely first day “getting my bearings” and also unpacking but we parked at the castle the rest of the week without any bother and loved the walks up and down-so don’t let parking put you off. Dale was a great host and was very happy to help. Do not hesitate to stay here, you will not regret it!

Lovely few days away in clean, comfortable surroundings. Positive: Excellent location directly opposite the north Yorkshire moors railway station (you can get the train into Whitby for the day) and just a few minutes walk from the main street.. Comfortable and clean accommodation with well equipped kitchen. Free parking available a short walk away (bit of a steep walk to get back to it but this wasn't a problem for us). There is some free overnight parking (6pm-8am) opposite the property plus you can park there for 1 hour during the day so you can unload the car/reload at end of your stay. Negative: Property is above a tearoom/bakery and they share an entrance. Felt strange letting yourself into an empty shop but wasn't a problem. At least 3 of the light bulbs in the property needed replacing so kitchen and bathroom were a little darker than should be. We found the induction hob a bit tricky on first morning as hadn't used one before so a user guide for that would have been helpful.

No8 Park Street Positive: Apartment was large with full amenities, living room with large tv, kitchen with large dining room leading out to outside veranda with table and chairs. Bedroom was upstairs in attic and again large with 3 seater sofa. Perfect location in Pickering town centre. Downside was stairs to bedroom were steep and bathroom was downstairs from bedroom which wasn't ideal. Advertised as free parking (don't know were that came from) you could park for an hour if you were lucky enough to find a space between 6.00am to 6.00pm outside accommodation and as you could imagine long term parking was difficult in town. Staff in the bakery below were fantastic and helpful . The booking agency Host & Stay bombard you with emails 14+ to date and are very confusing with repeat text.

The place is nice and we love Pickering the cafe downstairs is really nice the staff are very helpful Positive: The property was really nice but the cleanliness of it was disappointing when you’ve gotta clean the bath tub and hoover the bedroom the back of the bed was not nice which is a shame cos the apartment is nice . Negative: Could do with somewhere too put the mop and hoover out of site but that’s just my opinion cleanliness , the fact you have too ask the shop downstairs too bump the heating on for longer is alittle annoying .

Positive: Lovely place to stay, very comfy and cosy. Perfect location, we went on the steam train, went to Whitby and York. Pickering is a lovely little town, nice pub/bar all in walking distance. The decor is very nice, would recommend. Negative: Parking a bit of a pain.

Really gorgeous Airbnb. We had a wonderful stay here. Loved the location and the tea shop below was excellent! Had all the amenities we needed for the week to have a comfortable stay.
