Great flat with parking and close to Whitby centre. No hair dryer, even though it was advertised as having one. A bit dusty in places, under coffee table in lounge and the 2nd bedroom was dusty too. Overall, good value and decent location.

Clean but worn, not baby friendly Positive: Generally good level of cleanliness (especially bedding, towels and inside kitchen appliances) and well-equipped. Dishwasher was a bonus and big fridge and freezer. Parking space was provided (although some issues with access) Negative: A bit stingy on providing some essentials such as only 1 dishwasher tablet, no coffee pods for the machine, no kitchen roll, almost empty hand soap in bathroom, no hairdryer. It’s not obvious from photos but the furnishings and some kitchen ware (cutlery/pans) very used. The kitchen seating benches were almost falling apart. The bigger bedroom mattress was really uncomfortable and worn so had to opt to use the smaller one (which was not ideal when sharing with a 1 year old). We didn’t get a good nights sleep all of our stay. We had a lot of issues with actually being able to park in the space provided due to works vans using it and the hosts basically just told us to find our own parking elsewhere when this was raised. Our main disappointment was we booked this accommodation as stated suitable for under 2s and families, however no high chair could be provided and no child friendly table wear.

An excellent stay in Whitby. The flat is perfectly located to spend a few days in the town, with everything just a short walk away. The apartment itself is a nice space, which suited us and our young daughter very well.

Beautiful place, very clean and made out stay very relaxing. Only downside was the tv remote didn’t work so we downloaded a universal app to use which did the trick! Great being so close to the centre of Whitby and having secure parking!

A lovely cosy flat, would definitely recommend. There was a noise in the main bedroom coming from the bathroom and the check in/out times were quite mean. However, the reason for that became clear after the many texts offering at early check in at an extra fee. Overall we were very happy with our two nights in the property.

Positive: Comfy bed and decent location

It was easy to find the place. Had to navigate around builders vans to park as street very narrow. The apartment was easy to access. Bed in smaller bedroom was much more comfortable thsn main room. It was a shame the throws and sofas were dirty abd stained. There was alot of dust on headboards. Over all the apartment had good cooking facilities, a peaceful neighbourhood and plenty of hot water..

Great location Positive: Comfortable, well equipped clean apartment. Parking space which is great in whitby. Excellent location- easy walk in to centre. Negative: A few more wine glasses and some seating for the balcony would have been ideal. Some might find the bed a bit hard.

The mirror in one bedroom was full of dust. A layer of dust could be found along the top of the headboard. The floor in the living room area hadnt been mopped. The accent chair was thilthy. The kitchen blind was full of dust. Bulb missing from the hallway light. The bathroom woodwork definitely needs sorting

Great location but flat needs good upgrade and clean down Positive: Location Negative: On arrival the apartament looked like it wasnt cleaned, floor was so mucky that I had to change socks after few minutes. The chair in dining room/kitchen is disgustingly dirty, bathroom needs renovation, vinyl in bathroom is damaged. Cutlery in kitchen was falling apart, same with dishwasher door, frying pan totally unusable - I have contacted agent to deliver new one as it really limited our meals preparation, all had to be done in pot or oven. There is no hair dryer too, which was meant to be provided. I have left review on your website with intention that owner will take a notice of it and invest in place as it could be so much better if it would be maintained and refreshed, most needed is deep clean.

Had the potential to be so much better. Positive: Very conveniently situated. Negative: Very tired. Needs an update and a deep clean.

Good BUT no Privacy! No curtains on large french doors with neighbours looking into lounge! Positive: Location With parking Facilities. Negative: Large OPEN french doors ceiling to floor either side of 10 metre long lounge so overlooked with no privacy by neighbours either side. Watching tv at night lit up the goldfish bowl of the living area. Not good at breakfast time either.

Would recommend. Positive: All the facilities were good as expected as the flat is relatively modern and new. The property had little in the way of storage for clothes ,but this was a minor problem for such a short stay of 5 days. The property is well sited for the city centre being only a few 100 yards away. Negative: Had great difficulty with opening the key box. It took half dozen attempts on arrival as well leaving. Did report it to host. Parking was also a problem being very tight. It was not helped that the property opposites being renovated with builders vans blocking the crescent. Also the Electricity Board had dug a large open hole to lay a cable which remained unfilled during our stay making it extra awkward getting out. Did also report this to host. A minor problem was there was only one toilet roll in the property with our having to buy extra as there were 3 of us staying.

Great location for the town. We visited all the sites. Also handy for bus to other seaside towns nearby. Comfortable apartment with plenty of space. Just a shame we couldn’t get tv to work. Car space temporarily unavailable to us, due to road closure. Plenty of parking in town, but a walk away. Hosts were mostly quick to respond to simple queries.

With a bit more attention to detail this apartment would be perfect. In particular the kitchen could be better equipped Positive: Well situated, clean*, comfortable beds, nicely furnished with modern touch Negative: Chipped crockery; broken handles on cutlery; coffee maker welcomed but no mugs or cups to fit it! (had to wait while tilted large mug); *bathroom not particularly clean (rest of apartment fine); nowhere to hang wet towels!; no blind on one of lounge windows; no small chairs available for the nice balcony; lounge could have done with one more chair when 4 people are staying.

Needs a bit of TLC to be worth a second visit Positive: Location was good, just a 5 minute walk into town. There was a designated parking space but it was quite small, not too easy if you have a bigger car. The location is quiet, no road noise or noise from any people/bars etc, just seagulls, which is the soundtrack to any UK seaside holiday. One of the beds was comfortable. Negative: I was disappointed with the cleanliness and condition of some elements in the apartment. The bathroom and living area could benefit from a deep clean and some maintenance; the toilet seat was loose, some furnishings were stained or unclean, and a few fittings were rusty or dusty. One of the mattresses was also very uncomfortable. Although these are all relatively easy fixes, they did affect our comfort during the stay. Small touches like a welcome pack (even just a pint of milk or some biscuits) would also have been appreciated, as they’re common in other local rentals. With a bit of attention to detail and care, this could be a really lovely place to stay. Unfortunately, as it stands, I wouldn’t choose to return.

An excellent property with some minor issues Positive: Overall, the property was excellent with some minor issues that could enhance the experience. The property was in an excellent location with the convenience of parking. The property was clean throughout and was tidy. Negative: Overall, the property had quite a bit of wear and tear. The bathroom floor lino was raised and the bathroom had a lot of wear. The kitchen extractor fan controls appeared to have been broken and were not present so could not be used. The property would have benefitted with more space to hang clothes and towels. There was no heated towel rail to place towels.

Fabulous location and the parking space is an exceptional added bonus. Everything is within walking distance, we parked up on arrival and didn’t move the car again until we left. Lots of information in the guide book of places to eat and visit. I wouldn’t recommend for a long stay as there isn’t much storage for clothes etc but perfect for a few nights.

The Flat is well situated to explore Whitby, the allocated parking is an absolute, as parking places in Whitby are at a premium. The Flat Kitchen was well stocked with kitchen essentials. Overal the Flat is quiet and comfortable. We had an issue with Host and Stay regarding the Damage Waive, however this was resolved amicably with Charlie, and all communications with Host and Stay were answered promptly.

We had a lovely stay at Shipwrights. The apartment had everything we needed. Only critique was that we felt that one of the mattresses could be due for a replacement but the other one in the second bedroom was very comfortable so we were fine. Thanks for a brilliant stay and we’ll certainly be back xx

A modern first floor flat, designed and intended for the rental market. Had two sets of glass doors opening inwards in the lounge, but didn't have any curtains or blinds on them - both sets of windows were overlooked by neighbouring properties and they could see in at night, not ideal when you're trying to relax. Had everything you need, good parking space and ideally located for the town centre

We very much enjoyed our stay and would happily stay here again

Great location to explore Whitby and the surrounding area. Looks exactly like the photos. Not much in the way of clothes storage but the apartment was comfy and we felt relaxed there. There were a few niggles which we let H&S know about, hopefully these are addressed before the new guests arrive. Nothing that would stop us booking again.

Great location and comfortable apartment.

Negative: The glass table as we walked into a few times as the edges are not visible

Negative: The benches at the dining table didn't seem too stable and creaked every time we sat down to eat.

Everything was spot on and we would stay again. Great to have a designated parking space. One thing worth noting is the requirement to pay a £250 refundable deposit or buy a £25 insurance cover prior to check in information being shared. This is only made clear after the booking has been made and I think it should be made clear in the property description so it’s not a surprise and additional cost. Other than this everything was as seen in the pictures and the property was well cleaned and stocked with everything you would need. The location is perfect for exploring Whitby and the surrounding area! Thanks for the great stay.

Great location, 5 minute walk into Whitby town centre. Good accommodation, bathroom would benefit from some minor maintenance. We didn't really use the kitchen, but there seemed to be a good stock of items for cooking. Would recommend due to location and cleanliness.

Lovely second floor apartment in a great location. Literally 4 mins walk into centre of Whitby. Allocated parking right in front of the block. Apartment itself very secure. Good size living/dining/kitchen area. Large fridge with the added bonus of a freezer. Would recommend.

Good location but small flat for the money. Positive: Good location - short walk into centre. Easy parking. Comfy beds. Good shower over bath. Negative: Cheap furniture - lack of clothes storage in tiny drawers. Hardly any hangers. Bathroom floor Lino was creased. Sturdy good sized dining table but creaky benches. Didn’t like the way Host & Stay operates…..happy to pay deposit (£250) but think taking a £10 fee before returning this money is such a cheek - never had this happen before! - was not aware of this at booking stage.

A nice stay but needs maintenance work. Positive: The property location is excellent. Having a parking space allocated was a bonus to this accommodation. Very modern and airy. Negative: When booking be careful you either have to put another £200.00 deposit down and it takes upto 14 days to receive back to which the host company take a fee of £10.00 or you have to pay £25.00 as a waiver insurance so extra cost. The property does need a little maintenance. The bathroom shower leaks and needs fixing, you can see the leak has affected the bathroom and its been like it for some time. Blinds should be up in the living room it's been noted on previous reviews and would help with privacy to the property. A couple of chairs on the balcony would be nice and again reviews have been added on this. I think as this is managed by Host & Stay very little is taken on board or changes and improvements would be made.

Had a great 2 night stay. The apartment was in a great location, just 5 min walk to the centre. It was spotlessly clean, beds and linen all good. Would def book again if we head to Whitby.

Would definitely stay again - ideal place for visiting Whitby Positive: Easy check in, perfect location, place looks just like the pictures, clean and great shower. Negative: Only that there was no hand wash in the bathroom or washing up liquid (but there is a dishwasher for bigger loads which is great)

Great location. Whitby is lovely and despite some issues with teh host company, the flat was lovely. Positive: Great location Negative: Whilst I understand some people visiting the property may not look after it, the emails about the security deposit were rude. It wasn’t overly clean and communication with the hosts were difficult.

Modern spavious apartment - just needs a few tweaks here and there Positive: Location was great, good bathroom with excellent shower and the large bed was comfy. The fridge/freezer was a good size too. The property has a parking space, which is a bonus as other properties in the area don't, the space for apartment 3 is 4, as we luckily bumped into the owner of apartment 4 who parks in 3 and told us we needed to park in space 4. Negative: The TV didn't have a signal, so no live TV at all could be watched. I messaged the property, but unfortunately, nobody came back to me so we opted for the LG homescreen apps and watched YouTube! There's a balcony with a space to sit out but no chairs/table, which would have been a nice addition. There are no curtains at the property and blinds on the windows only, which meant you could be seen when sat on the couch or the other way, when you were in the kitchen by other apartments.

Fantastic apartment a short walk from town with parking! Super clean inside and lovely bedding, towels etc. Great comms from the team running it who were really helpful. I would highly recommend staying here!

Comfortable stay Positive: We liked the general apartment & good washer/drier. Comfortable beds. Nice toiletries. Good parking once you discover which one is allocated to you. Good fridge & easy walk to town. Negative: The guy on the phone thought assisting us verbally was too much trouble. Dave raised his voice when I asked him to repeat the lockbox code(and then repeated it even faster when I mentioned that I didn’t have a pen handy in the car!) Basically there is no hospitality and it’s a do it yourself situation. We’d never dealt with handles that one needs to raise before attempting to use the key to lock. A note on door to this affect could be helpful. Martin the handyman was most helpful. Hooks on the back of doors and in rooms would be useful. The benches are going to collapse and need urgent maintenance. Buses to Sandsend are very unreliable. Outdoor chairs would be nice.

A great weekend visiting Whitby. Staying in a lovely, comfortable, modern apartment. Positive: The location was great for getting around Whitby. The apartment was clean and modern, with everything you needed for a weekend break. Negative: We had several issues which we raised as soon as we entered the property. It would have been nice to have had them resolved the next day as advised, but they were still outstanding when we left.

Negative: 10am is to early for check out and 4pm is far to late for check in

Negative: Unusually for me, I left some items of clothing in some drawers in the main bedroom as we were rushing to get out on time. This Included some lovely jeans that were a birthday present from my Mum and sister. I asked for them to be forwarded on to me and I offered to pay. Unfortunately they apparently weren’t there as cleaners didn’t find them. This has never happened to us before. We were very disappointed. So make sure you carefully check you’ve cleared all your things in any properties managed by host & stay as you won’t be seeing them again.

Beautiful apartment, tastefully furnished and very close to Whitby centre. Warm when we wanted the heating on and plenty of hot water for baths and showers. Can't recommend highly enough. Note two lots of steps if their are mobility issues but nothing to speak of. Wonderful stay!

Could be so much better. Positive: Good location, with parking. Negative: The £250:00 damages deposit after we had booked and the £10 non refundable admin charge for the damage deposit. All charges should be clearly visible when making the booking. Also being bombarded with messages about leaving the property as soon as we arrived. We knew when to check out, we didn’t need reminding twice daily. The lack of privacy in the main living area, there are 2 french doors with no curtains or blinds and you are overlooked from both sides. Lack of storage space, the hoover and mop and bucket shared the living space with us.

At first, we didn’t receive any request for a deposit. When we arrived in Whitby and checked Airbnb, we realised that a £250 deposit was required, all of which made checking into the flat very rushed. We struggled to find the address and key box. To be honest, the flat wasn't bad as it wasn't cheap to rent it.

Positive: excellent location, parking was a bonus, spacious and had everything we needed. Negative: it was abit tired in places like the bathroom flooring not fitting properly, scuffs and chipped paint in areas. Master bedroom matttress could do with being replaced.

Hidden charges, not clean, cheap furniture, no privacy Positive: Location was OK and it had a parking space, however the sat nav instructions were poor and took us to the wrong address. Negative: The furniture was cheap and nasty, the bathroom wasn't clean, the mattresses were cheap and beyond their usable life. There were no curtains or blinds at the windows and therefore no privacy from the other properties that directly overlooked Shipwrights. The property lacked storage space, highlighted by the fact the hoover, mop and bucket were in a corner in the kitchen. Host and Stay physically took a deposit of £250 1-week before arrival and charged me £10 for the privilege (the other option was to pay a £25 insurance fee - another hidden charge!) Some 3-weeks later, despite multiple phone calls, my deposit still has not been refunded. This is tantamount to operating a scam. I would not recommend this property and will avoid Host and Stay on any future bookings.

Positive: Everything really. Negative: The patio doors could of had some privacy glass or blinds installed. Just to prevent being overlooked. Just personal preference.

Thank you for a lovely stay. The apartment is very nicely decorated. Love the bedrooms. The location is perfect, really close to the centre of Whitby. It was also a bonus having a parking space. The only negative is a few of the kitchen items needed washing before use as they were dirty.
