The area

Set on the West side of Whitby, Sandpiper Apartment is located a short walk from the centre of town so you can expect a fabulous central location.

Head to Pier Road and you’ll find cosy pubs, fun arcades and plenty of fish restaurants. Continue along the lively road until you reach the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts. At the other end of Pier Road, you’ll notice the swing bridge which sits over the River Esk.

Over the bridge, you’ll find yourself on the East bank which is full of narrow mediaeval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.

Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.

The centre of Whitby is a short walk from Sandpiper Apartment.

Whitby train station is just down the road so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.

“Lovely stay in Whitby, perfect location to walk into town for food, drinks and shopping. Near Sneaton Castle we attended for a wedding so worked well for us. Apartment was very clean and well equipped. Parking limited but we managed to get a space. Host & Stays communication was amazing! From booking, before our stay and during our stay in Whitby they regularly gave clear instructions and information. Would stay again and recommend to others!”

“The apartment was really central and it is was a great help being just five minutes walk into Whitby. I thought that being next to one of the main roads into the town it would be noisy - especially with England having a world cup match - but it didn't disturb us. It was a perfect place for two people to have a short getaway. We didn't manage to park outside of the apartment but following the hosts instructions we did find off street parking further up Spring Hill.”
