We had a great stay at the property! The location is perfect- easy to walk into town and lots of grassy areas right outside. Easy to get parking. The views from the property were stunning. It was a great sized apartment - we were a group of five, with two young children, and there was plenty of space. It was well stocked with decent crockery etc. the bedrooms were all good sizes with lovely bathrooms. Good water pressure and always plenty of hot water. It was nice and quiet at night. The hosts were friendly and shared useful correspondence. We held off giving five stars as the bed in one of the bedrooms was uncomfortable with broken springs and the blinds didn’t block out the light in any bedrooms at all. The sofa was also very hard. The carpets were good quality but in desperate need of a clean, which wasn’t ideal with young children. Hopefully the hosts are able to give the carpet a good clean outside of high season. We would definitely consider this place in future!

We had a fantastic stay. Perfect location overlooking the sea, even saw Dolfins on our final day. The facilities were excellent and ample space for the family. Overall it was perfect will definately love to go back.

Wonderful location with wondrous views We loved Whitby and that was in large part due to staying at a lovely apartment in such a super location. In spite of stairs with two young children it was a really well kept apartment and can’t speak highly enough of it’s location. Children were happy for almost 100% of the stay and that’s a huge endorsement from us . Thanks for hosting us

Positive: Super apartment, loved the location overlooking the sea. The interior was beautiful too, very clean and tidy. Ideal for family get togethers. Would definitely stay again. Negative: The promise of car parking scratch cards was delayed and too late when they were eventually provided.

Brilliant 3 bedroom modern appartment. Probably one of the best locations you can get in Whitby with great views and easy walking distance to everything. Scratch off parking permit included was a real help. I opted out of the superhog validation which wasn't an issue for the hosts. If it's within your budget I would totally recommend Sand and Surf !!

The flat overlooks the sea - the view is beautiful. There is ample parking for a fair price. The flat is bright and the large windows in the lounge and master bedroom allow unfettered views of the ocean. The flat has everything needed to have a thoroughly enjoyable stay. We recommend this property highly.

We had a wonderful stay here and would highly recommend it. The property was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. The location was great with excellent views of the sea. The host was friendly, helpful, and easy to communicate with throughout our stay. We would happily stay here again and would definitely recommend it to others looking for a lovely place to stay.

an abolute nightmare Positive: The location was fantastic. Negative: The property was dusty, the carpets had clearly not been hoovered as white dog hairs were attracted to everyones clothing. The internet did not work and the TV did not work because there was no internet. There was also no basic condiments for example salt / pepper ect The main shower also did not drain correctly and flooded the bathroom

Positive: A spacious apartment with lovely sea views. Well equipped and in the main, clean. Close to bars, restaurants and the beach. Negative: Both shower heads and drains were dirty and blocked and need a good clean. Bed/mattress in main bedroom has a dip in the middle so constantly rolling into it. Light from street lights leaks into front bedrooms. Blackout blinds or curtains would be a good idea. Stain on carpet in hallway spoil what are otherwise clean and good quality carpets.

Great location and spacious flat with amazing views of the sea, west cliff and abbey. Space is quiet and cant hear any neighbours.

On entrance the stairway was dirty and had a bad smell, was possibly the worst I’ve experienced. Dead flies on window le Positive: Location and views were stunning, kitchen had all you needed. Negative: Huge dirty carpet stains as you walk through door, no iron, I rang on first day to say, the response was that the last guests broke it but they never came to replace it during our 4 night stay, uncomfortable sofa, bed sunk in the middle giving us bad backs.

Positive: Views Negative: Extremely dirty carpet, smelt and looked like large sick areas. All carpets unclean, many smaller damaged items. Although I reported it in several times and had a response saying it will be sorted. Nothing.

Lovely surroundings and stunning view Positive: Excellent location, beautiful property, great size, deco lovely and lots of lovely touches. Kitchen well equipped, lovely bathrooms and great size bedrooms. Fantastic views. Nice easy checking in. Negative: Very hard uncomfortable settee. Very very uncomfortable beds, 4 out of 5 of us ended up with sore backs due to lots of walking and no where comfy to sit or sleep. Brown stains on carpet as soon as you entered the property which gave a bad 1st impression. The blinds were very hard to reach. Sadly all this has previously been mentioned in reviews and I was hoping it had been corrected but it hadn't.

Fabulous stay, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely return. Positive: Location is amazing. Parked right outside. P&D. Nice modern apartment. Bay window for people watching/view was the best part. Negative: Master bed mattress needs replacing as a big dip in the middle. Sofa in lounge was v hard.

Overall a very nice place, the location is perfect and the sea view is really nice. The whole place is very spacious and comfortable, and has everything you need. It does need some TLC in a few places, although the photos are accurate it has obviously had a bit of wear and tear since then - a lot of marks and scuffs on the walls and some big stains on the carpets in most rooms with a very big stain unfortunately being the first thing you see when you step through the door. First impression it looked very clean but there was quite a bit of dust on the blinds and windows which aren't obvious until you open the blinds to get the most of the view out of the windows. Couple of minor things include no toilet roll holders, the extractor in the ensuite didn't work and some of the cutlery and crockery wasn't clean (maybe down to last guests but these are the things I'd expect to be checked before the next person checks in). Overall happy, just lacking in a few areas to justify the high price

We really enjoyed our stay from views and proximity to Whitby town very clean and tidy. We feel the apartment owners need to carry out some small maintenance on carpets and blind strings which we have fed back to host and stay as well as updating the photos that currently shows armchairs in lounge and bedroom windows as in previous feedback seats were uncomfortable for adults to sit on for any length of time and on small side and i understand furniture has to be changed but need to update photos. We would stay here again but would hope that feedback is taken on board for slight changes to improve the apartment offerings

We just got home and honestly didn’t want to leave surf and sand . What a beautiful well equipped apartment, stunning location . Comfiest massive beds , spotlessly clean , everything you could want in a holiday accommodation. We would highly recommend it snd there were not any negatives . Already planning to return for longer .

Overall, there is much to like about this apartment. The views are stunning, the bathrooms are modern, and the location is perfect to enjoy Whitby. However, there are a few incidents about the host support that prevent a fully positive rating. Most significantly, we had a very negative check in experience, whereby we were given instructions to access the key to the apartment. The problem was the key would not open the door. It turns out the wrong key was placed in the lock box. This is an honest mistake, however, the support to address this was non existent. We were unable to get anyone to help resolve this simple issue for about 2 hours. This impacted our first evening in Whitby significantly and added much unnecessary stress. We were also not provided any compensation for this very bad service. Second issue is the carpet upon entering the apartment was stained in two places. This is a very elegant apartment so this is a very unfortunate first impression when walking in the door.

The apartment was in a great location 5-10 minutes stroll into town. It was clean and tidy and beds were comfortable. Kitchen had everything you needed and the view from the apartment was lovely. Would definitely stay again.

Positive: The location, the pics look like the actual property, the communication with the agent Negative: The outside was scruffy - insulation from building works, rubbish left on and around the entrance steps The cost of parking was not included which made the stay more expensive per day and also created much inconvenience as we had to keep returning to the car to put additional time due to max hours you can book and pay for. This should have been incl with the booking as a permit as it previously has on other stays There was no iron in the room and I requested this on Day 2 at 09:06. Couldn’t fault the communication back and forth but I wanted until Day 3 and chased again at 09:00 advising we needed by 10:30 as we’re sick of looking scruffy on our holidays. Again good communication but the iron never turned up. In truth I suspected all along the email communication was simply paying lip service to me as when calling the phone number it was never answered. This was exceptionally poor

Short Break in Whiby The Sand & Surf Apartment was perfect for a two night stay in Whiby. Clean and spacious and really well placed for a walk up to Sandsend and down into Whiby town.

Been going to Whitby for many years now and I’d definitely recommend it and stay there again Great location ,clean and tidy

Nice spacious apartment with sea view Positive: A great location, close to shops, bars, cafes and restaurants with a lovely view of the sea. Nice, bright,airy and spacious accommodation. Well decorated and equipped. Negative: Some windows were a little steamed up and it was difficult to operate some of the window blinds due to the height of the windows and therefore the blind fittings. The sofa was a little hard and uncomfortable and the beds could do with some newer, fuller pillows.

property was unclean , and should not be rated 8.2 on booking.com very disappointing Negative: The property wasn't clean . ripped bedding , unclean kitchen surfaces , main shower blocked plug so kept flooding , unclean toilet .. flies on window ledge and cobwebs

Really disappointed.. dirty un-hoovered carpets in every room with dirt,mud and urine stains. Negative: Very poor cleanliness, shower flooded, wifi didn’t work, sofa terribly uncomfortable, ironing board but no iron

Positive: Perfect location overlooking the sea. We parked easily on the street outside although there is a charge. Very easy to walk to all Whitby attractions. Modern, comfortable apartment with everything we needed. Negative: We had a couple of minor issues but they were dealt with quickly via email.

Would recommend, stunning location and short walk to the town centre. Positive: Fantastic location overlooking the beach, good sized apartment with 3 double beds, en-suite and separate bathroom and stylish decor. Negative: No separate front door key available and the lock box had no light above it and the chain was just long enough to allow the key to turn. When we arrived we had no water, so had to make an emergency call, which was responded too very quickly.

Location beautiful, very nice modern decor, Beds very very comfortable Funky smell from the fridge, unable to adjust blinds in some of the rooms, no cutlery, going round with a duster wouldn't go a miss, was approached by an angry man regarding using the front seating area

Lovely place, fantastic view Nice flat, with some lovely design ideas. Beautiful view and close to the sea and the harbour, both sides of Whitby. Few niggles - bathroom fan not working, wrong WiFi code sent and the one in the flat impossible to read; hard to use dining table as not enough room round it and benches very unstable. Blind cords so short that once they were closed you couldn’t possibly reach the cord to open them again. But honestly, these are all small issues compared to the flat itself which was gorgeous and I would recommend it

Wir hatten einen schönen Aufenthalt im Sand & Surf und schätzten den wundervollen Meerblick, die ruhigere Lage und die Nähe zum Strand für einen Abendspaziergang. Die Betten waren sehr bequem, alles war sehr schön möbliert. Schade, dass die Jalousie bei einem der Zimmer mit Meerblick nicht hochgezogen werden konnte. Die Kommunikation mit Host & Stay war sehr rasch und hilfreich. Auch mit dem Auto hatten wir keinerlei Probleme vor der Wohnung zu parkieren. Wir würden diese Unterkunft wiederum wählen.

The apartment we was meant to stay at was not at all clean very dusty used sanitary products left in the bathroom bin, bed sheets wasn’t changed and rubbish left in the kitchen bin, we spoke to a guy called Louie and the property owner confirmed it wasn’t clean due to a emergency accommodation the night before, however Louie managed to get us in another property though host and stay and it was absolutely perfectly clean tidy and better location, we can’t thank him enough for being so helpful, we will be returning to Whitby however we would be staying at sand and surf again and not where we booked prior to our stay for the weekend !

Excellent accommodation with great sea views and central location. Well appointed with all necessary amenities. Great communication with hosts who also provided very useful information about the property and surroundings. Slight downsides were due to difficulty finding a suitable free parking space despite the provision of a parking pass and somewhat inadequate and uncomfortable seating arrangements in the living room.

Lovely position with great sea views from the three front facing rooms. We were able to park fairly close each day using the scratch off card provided. Easy to walk into the town. Flat was comfortable and well-equipped. Host was very responsive when we had a couple of questions.

Lovely property in great location. Good size, clean and as described. No number on front door so had to use photo of property to work out which one it was. Small problem with deposit as this was not listed in the property description so it came as a surprise but this was resolved fairly quickly.

Flat was good - 3 bedrooms, good size. 2 bathrooms, one en-suite. Little cafe opp was very handy for coffee. near whalebones, and tourbus that took us to whitby abbey. . Needs curtains in bedrooms. sofa like a rock to sit on. Comms was bit slow and add to ask for check in information. We were lucky with parking, would struggle on weekends.

loved our stay and cant wait to return. Positive: location was really excellent, close to and with easy access to town and harbour although a climb up steep stairs via the shortest route. loved the stunning views over the sea from one of bedrooms and from living room . Apartment was spacious well furnished and nicely decorated. Walk in en-suite shower was powerful . Negative: nothing of any substance, blinds to bedroom and living room windows were in need of some attention in that the drawstrings were too short to reach and thus work effectively. Door was occasionally a little temperamental.

Positive: We liked that it was close to the beach and the Pavillion. Negative: The accomodation was not as clean as expected. The Toilet seat was broken and the door lock on the main bathroom was also broken. Also when the washing machine was spinning in the apartment above, it shook the whole of the living/dining/kitchen area and made it very uncomfortable.

A really good value and comfortable place to stay. The space was really well planned out and there’s none of the usual Airbnb clutter. It’s bigger than the photos made it look too. The location is close to the centre on Whitby, but not too close so as to be noisy. Would recommend!

Fabulous location. Apartment was super clean, furnishings are very new and modern and kitchen equipped with everything we needed. Beds comfy and there was no noise from neighbours which was good. Location is perfect- right on the beachfront and just a 10 minute walk to the town and harbour. Highly recommend!

Apartment was lovely but could have done with more seating in living area for 6 adults, 2 infants. Thought was slightly pricey however great location, instructions and check in. Overall really good trip thank you for having us.

Surf and Turf Whitby Great property in a fab location.

Couples Autumn weekend away Positive: This apartment is lovely, it is located on the edge overlooking the beach and has fantastic views from its first floor location. All the fixture and fittings were good quality from the large beds to the kitchen. Whilst we only used the kettle and fridge, there was also an oven, microwave and dishwasher (with a few tablets provided). All the bedding was crisp clean white and towels were provided in each room. The TV has interactive features and with your own account can watch Netflix, Amazon etc WiFi was fast and reliable There are multiple apartments here and the keys are picked up from a lockbox in the communal lobby. There was no noise coming from other apartments either above or below so a nice and quiet break was had by all. Parking for one car was provided and whilst not a reserved spot, there was always somewhere to park. On street parking from pay and display is also possible or can can park free if prepared to walk a few hundred yards. The beach is opposite (as is an ice cream shop). Walking into the centre is down a path with some steps ( guessing about 30). There are easier walks into town but you are going to Whitby after all so should expect some incline. You'll be walking up the steps to the Abbey and there's 199 of them. I would not hesitate to recommend this and am likely to return before too long. Negative: The only downside was the sofa being a little uncomfortable and there only being casual seating in the lounge for five.

Absolutely wonderful stay, would highly recommend. Flat is beautiful and could not be in a better location. Will definitely return. Tip: the on street parking was £6 for just over 24hrs so easier to do that outside the flat rather than fight for the zone parking which was extremely busy

A great base for exploring the coast. As a group of 6, we found this apartment to be pretty much ideal for our needs and a great place to stay for a week. The location on West Cliff in Whitby is a real advantage and the view out across the North Sea from the windows at the front of the property is equally beautiful and tranquil. Worth noting that the window in bedroom 3 looks out across a courtyard to the rear of the property. If you want to, you can literally be in the sea in about 2 minutes from your door. Fair warning, the North Sea is cold! It is lovely though to be able to cross the road, drop down the hill and land straight on the beach. The place itself has clearly very recently been refurbished and to a good standard too. All of the rooms are generously sized and everyone slept soundly throughout the holiday. The property itself hosts six holiday apartments in total. Pleasingly, the communal areas have also been refurbished and were perfectly pleasant. Security is well thought out too with coded entry to the communal areas and individual key safes for each of the apartments. In a house of separate holiday lets, there's always the small risk of unwittingly landing at the same time as inconsiderate neighbours. Delighted to report we had no such problems! In this apartment, you'll have neighbours above and below but you've got the floor to yourself. The Agency running the property (Stay) were great to deal with and have obviously put some thought into the property. The welcome book is great and has some really good suggestions if you're unfamilar with the area. The scratchcards to facilitate parking nearby are invaluable and having decent Wifi is really useful in an area where indoor phone signal can be a bit sketchy. I fortunately didn't have to try this but I suspect that there's sufficient bandwidth for a couple of people to work from here if needed. In terms of day to day facilities, having one of the bedrooms as an en suite makes complete sense. The main bathroom is totally fine but you'd need a timetable if there were six of you relying on a single shower and / or bath. The kitchen, dining and living room are a single space which is great for cozy nights in. There's enough room for two to share the work in the kitchen and there's more than enough by way of equipment, utensils etc for you to be preparing every meal here if that's your preference. As it happens, you're spolit for choice nearby in terms of amenities. There's a properly cute coffee shop right outside (Clara's) that did brisk business with us! Equally, Whitby itself is loaded with food & drink options but book early. We struggled to get into some places so it's worth a little forward planning. If I were to suggest anything, there's a couple of really tiny small changes that would be amazing. Bedrooms 2 and 3 are a little light on clothes storage if you're staying more than a couple of days. Also the washing machine (whilst being a very welcome addition in the kitchen) does create a fair bit of vibration when used which could be distracting for some. These are very, very minor things though that shouldn't at all detract from what is a large, well-equipped and comfortable apartment, centrally located that is ideal for families or groups to share and enjoy.

The accommodation was perfect. Ideal setting right on the front. Parking around the corner (free with the booking) or pay and stay right outside. Gorgeous kiosk opposite right by the sea. Morning views are so impressive! Perfect location to explore up the coast for a walk or off into the town for a look around the unique shops and seaside entertainment. Loved it! Thank you

We had a wonderful stay at this great apartment in a lovely part of Whitby. The directions and instructions for our arrival were really clear and straightforward so we were able to “check in” without any problems at all. The apartment is absolutely gorgeous - very smart and clean and beautifully styled. The rooms are big and the amazing bay windows give you a fabulous sea view; perfect for people watching with a cup of coffee or glass of wine! The apartment is also perfectly located, being a 5-10 minute walk outside of the busier centre of town. The streets closer to the apartment have some great, really interesting and independent cafes and bars which offer a nice contrast to those other more touristy parts. I would certainly recommend Whitby as a great place to spend a few days by the seaside.
