Positive: The house was very comfortable. Nice location Negative: No welcome pack lol The outside was very tired and needs sprucing up so you can sit there No dogs upstairs is very difficult with an open staircase
Positive: Great location for beach dog walks, meals out and visiting family. Negative: There was a bit of dirt in the bath.
Amazing love newbiggin and the dog couldn't wait to get to the beach Positive: Great place to stay had everything needed for a weekend away Negative: Bedroom door was really squeaky needs some oil I am early riser and woke everyone up
Great stay location central. Positive: Had a lovely stay at Roselyn and the location was great. It was spotless and we had everything we needed. We took our 3 dogs and enjoyed the lovely walks. Thanks for a lovely break. Negative: Nothing
No deposits taken anymore! Book now! First of all, Host & Stay NO LONGER TAKE DEPOSITS. We messaged them and this was their exact response "We don't take any damage deposit anymore, we only purchase an accidental waiver and it was already included on the total payout of your accommodation fare". The house is an amazing base for a long or short stay. We will be booking again as the house was exactly what we needed. Clean, very spacious (the main bedroom and lounge are HUGE!), warm, comfy beds and with lots of extras for bringing toddlers along (chair, steps, cutlery, plates, cot). The outdoor area will be lovely in the summer and it is safe for dogs. The welcome basket was very welcome after a long journey! Ali and Sarka are fantastic owners who responded quickly when we needed them- 5* owners! They were friendly and really helpful and genuinely care about their guests. I wish I could say more but what I will say is, this house is a hidden gem perfect for exploring Northumberland.
Lovely house. Lovely location. Positive: The house was lovely. Had all of the basics we needed. The outside area was nice although unused by us as we visited in winter. The beds were very comfortable. Very spacious. Much bigger than we thought but would be. Lovely location. Parking was easy in the little car park. Shop at the bottom of the road was useful. Very close to the beach. Negative: There was a note saying there was a seperate freezer but this was switched Off. Luckily we hadn’t taken any frozen foods. Needed 2 comfy chairs as well as the sofa. The 2 chairs were uncomfortable and not practical for a family. No guidance on recycling. Inconvenient having to go to a bottle bank. Finer touches missing like a dish cloth, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and a toilet brush.
Very pleasant experience staying here, our two granddaughters loved it Positive: Nicely decorated modern, fresh and very clean and only a short walk to the beach Negative: Parking was on the road immediately outside the property which at times mainly on an evening was difficult to find a spot close to the house.
Spacious and well appointed accommodation with good access to local shops and attractions. Positive: Spacious, with good facilities, quiet and comfortable. Good access to a good local grocery shop and pharmacy (at the end of the same road), and a short walk to the shops in the town, with a good choice of coffee and tea shops and a few restaurants. We enjoyed a good Italian meal at Due Fratelli. Only a short walk to the beach front and attractions there. Also very convenient for Woodhorn Museum, where we were competing in a triathlon. Not too far from Alnwick for visiting the castle. Negative: The keys to the patio were not provided, which meant that we could not use the patio, which was a little frustrating given the good weather that we enjoyed. We would have liked to have taken our breakfast and lunches on the patio. This also meant that we could not access the bins, which were in the back garden/patio area, but the owner was happy that we just leave our bagged rubbish at the patio windows at the end of our stay. It was also a slight safety issue as it meant that one exit was not available to us. I raised this with our host, but keys were not provided. For this reason I have made the overall score 7 (good) whereas otherwise I would have scored it 9 (Superb).
Dog friendly Positive: Decent sized house. Plenty of space. Nicely furnished. Clean. Dog friendly. Three minutes to the beach. Great beach side cafe. Nice craft ale bar. Short drive to Alnwick and the long beaches further north. And compared to how pricey the rest of the area is becoming, still affordable. Negative: Check in and check out are via keybox, so never met anyone. Though there was a helpline....and we didn't have any problems.
Great little place for us to stay. Positive: The house was spacious and smeltclean when we arrived. As we cooked our own food, there was plenty of pots and pans for us to use. The shower was powerful, and the beds were comfy. We were 5 mins from the beach and 5 mins walk from the food outlets or 2 mins walk from a mini supermarket. We managed to park outside on the road each evening.
Comfortable home, well equipped and in a great location for exploring the Northumberland coast. Short, easy walk to the very clean beach that has a dog friendly section. Would recommend.
Great place but owners become complacent Positive: Location and space Negative: Run down, garden a mess and furniture poor quality
Comfortable, calm and clean property in a great seaside location. Positive: A great location for easy walks to the beautiful beach, cafes and promenade @ Newbiggin. Roselyn was clean and comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen and spacious lounge, just perfect for our relaxing break away.
Positive: Close to the promenade and town centre. Free car park at the end of the street, Morrisons Daily, and a takeaway pizza shop at either end of the street. Negative: Nothing to not like.
Terrible from the moment I stepped othe threshold . The agents were very understanding about the issues and the stress i Positive: Nothing Negative: It was dirty upon arrival . Cleaning lady had a bad attitude and said she didn’t have time to clean everything. The place was a mess . The place needs a good clean and it’s old and dated and needs refreshing especially the bathroom . The kitchen was dirty as was the bathroom . Cobwebs everywhere and just dirty under furniture .
Positive: Comfortable and clean...Convenient for the beach. Negative: Back yard needed some tlc. Weeds in planters and around the edges of the patio
Positive: The area was brilliant
A clean, cosy, comfortable house by the sea - highly recommended. Positive: Very comfortable, clean house, with everything that we needed.
A lovely home by the sea Positive: Very clean Comfortable beds Well equipped kitchen Close to beach Welcome gifts were lovely Great communication from owners Negative: Freezer is in a slightly awkward position Parking can be tricky outside the property
Negative: Outdoor area not clean
Perfect! Positive: Everything! Was a beautiful place! Right next to the town and the beach! Was honestly the best place we have stayed at! Pictures don't do it justice Beds were great too best sleep I've had! Negative: Parking was a little issue some of the locals like their spaces!! But didn't bother us as there is a free carp park a few doors down
Great location for touring the north East Positive: Clean & in good repair. Excellent base for touring the north east. Welcome pack was a lovely touch. Very spacious 2 bed house. Negative: No issues apart from the pillows had seen better days.
Amazing weekend away in a beautiful house Positive: Beautifully decorated and clean, all amenities included which made a really comfortable stay. Will 100% stop again. Negative: Nothing
Positive: we have been back to the same place a few times and love it. so close to the beach the centre and not far to all other beaches Negative: the weather this time
Positive: Fantastic property with an absolutely fabulous bath! Great location 5 mins walk to the beach & pubs. Morrisons local less than a minute away for essentials or treats. Lovely bit of the beautiful north east coast. All the homely touches in the property were great. We thoroughly enjoyed the duck ornaments, crockery, even the tablecloth 😊. You wanted for nothing at this property. There was even an umbrella. Negative: There was nothing we didn't like! The area deserves some investment & marketing by the local council. We chatted to many of the friendly locals & enjoyed it stay despite the changeable weather.
Very enjoyable stay overall Positive: The house was very well presented and had everything we needed. Nice and modern and really very clean. Negative: The garden. It was very dirty and there were piles of dog poo which had not been cleared away by previous occupants. Also we were constantly reminded to vacate the property by 10.00 am despite replying to say we would be away in plenty of time and still had a further message asking us to ensure we left by 10.00 am.
Holiday 2024 Positive: Cosy house nestled in a small quiet street close to our family. Very tidy on arrival. A small gift box left for us to all snack on. Very spacious. Very much liked the motion sensor lights, especially at night in the dark. Negative: Front door kept sticking involving us having to lift the door and push or pull at the same time. Kept banging my elbow on the cabinet next to the toilet. Two out of three beds were very uncomfortable.
A lovely week in Northumberland, close to the beach and we very much enjoyed the light airy property with very comfy bed Positive: Good size property with comfortable beds and a clean airy atmosphere. Close to the beach and a few doors down from a convenience store. Functional kitchen, good bathroom and plenty of space throughout. Negative: Only minor things such as no freezer, very small glasses, the floor mop don’t spray and the hand wash was virtually empty but didn’t impact our stay. Like I say, very minor!
Positive: The place was spotless
Positive: Most of it Negative: Parking is a bit hit and miss
An enjoyable and Comfortable Stay. Positive: Everything was handy and easily available
WHAT A NIGHTMARE! Make sure you fully read the advert as they do ask for a £25 non-refundable deposit or a £250 refundable one. I was convinced this was against the rules of Airbnb to use an external site to collect a deposit but turns out it's not. I had a lot of issues with the host repeatedly sending an expired link to collect the deposit which went on for over a day. This issue did lead to me loosing a nights stay in the property for no fault of my own. The host wasn't overly fussed about this and was more interested in getting the deposit sorted. Luckily I did get my refund for that night from Airbnb. I wouldn't book again as the only word I have to sum up the whole booking was HASSLE!
Positive: Great property, from the outside looks rather small but when you enter, a very pleasant surprise at how big it actually is. Very clean, have everything you require for a home from home stay. Location great, we visited Cragside, Bamburgh, Warkworth Castle and beach as well as Seahouses and then Cresseell Beach on our way home. Negative: Didn’t spoil our stay but a TV in bedroom would have been appreciated to relax after a full packed day
Host and Say require multiple steps to complete the booking including using an external site to verify your identity (even if you have multiple reviews as a customer). They then require you to pay a deposit (250 euros for me) and a hidden 10 pound administration fee. I believe this information is available before you book but it wasnt very clear. The hidden fee for admin seemed unfair. I paid the 250 deposit on 26th Dec and now on 10th January, there has been no communication from Host & Stay about the deposit and it has not been returned. They are very keen to make you jump through multiple hoops to complete the booking but then forget to proactively manage the deposit. House is fine but the agency is over-bearing and doesnt follow up on the additional money they required to complete the booking.
wonderful Positive: the property was like a home away from home, beautifully decorated and very clean. some very nice little touches which really does make all the difference. beautiful home, very quiet and the sea really is a stones throw away. Negative: nothing
Lovely coastal home in Newbiggin-by-the-sea . Positive: The property is in a quiet residential area in close proximity of the beach and handy for local shops . It is clean and tidy and fully equipped . It is the second time we have stayed here and would recommend it to anyone staying in Newbiggin-by-the-sea . Negative: Nothing
Positive: Very clean and spacious Negative: Perhaps could have done with a chair / stool in the bedroom
A lovely home from home, slept well, very comfortable and all round lovely day place to stay. Thanks for keeping your ho Positive: Really nice property, very well equipped for cooking and very comfortable. The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. The house had clearly been maintained to a high standard with many nice touches and comfortable finishes.
Disappointing, I knew the property would be basic but the cleanliness was not up to standard at all. Positive: The location in proximity of the beach Negative: Filthy shower mat, thick with mould. Dirty lounge chairs. Dirty dishes with old food stuck on them which needed washing before they could be used. Brown stains on the duvet cover. Mould in the bathroom around the shower. Dirty floors, the bottom of my feet were black after walking on them.
Positive: everything was fantastic Negative: everything was fantastic
Lovely place to stay for a enjoyable and relaxing time away. Positive: Spacious, clean and comfortable
ok for the last time we didnt make roysln as our party caught the Noravirus and had to turn back
First impressions from the outside weren’t great, but once inside the house was nicely laid out, very clean and comfortable to stay in. The local store at the bottom of the street was a real bonus. Newbiggin itself is a little run down, with a lot of shops boarded shut and the choice of restaurants/pub food is limited. But the locals were unbelievably friendly, and welcoming, and the beach was very close and perfect for dog walks.
Well equipped homely house and just a short walk to the beach. Lovely family break.
really good 😀 Positive: roomy clean great location bed comfortable good utilities Negative: parking an issue as cannot always park outside house which makes things difficult to load and unload car , un easy about parking in residence parking spaces , large car parking is available at the end of the road wouldn’t like to park there , I noticed one of the homes had a notice outside saying pls do not park outside this property, maybe an idea for a no parking sign outside Roselyn , but you won’t get a BIG car parked although saying that I could park outside a house near Mccoll’s the shop. more tea towels and a hoover would be great
relaxing and peaceful Positive: very clean and modern Negative: would be better with two sofas
Good location and most welcoming Positive: Self catering and very well equiped, new, state of the art, everything for the perfect stay to meet needs was there. Negative: Parking on street a little tight but not a problem
