Fabulous
Positive: Beautiful house with great owners. Very accommodating as stranded due to snow. Village quiet but plenty of costal walks weather permitting
Had 2 family’s stay with plenty of room
Negative: Might benefit from having an high chair for infants or notification to bring one. Also the TV difficult to access due to wifi connection. Not enough to spoil the holiday though

Really enjoyed our two nights here - great space for we and the grown up kids and a large dog. Number of bathrooms a bonus. Ideally situated for walking the Cleveland way which we did to Robin Hoods Bay. Had most things you would need except we didn’t see any hair conditioner. Perhaps a few blankets would be useful for colder evenings to cosy up on the sofa or use in the conservatory. E fully enclosed garden would be a selling point for dog owners too to save trekking outside with a long lead in the dark and rain. We would definitely return to Ranworth - thank you ❤️

Not aware of the Air bnb in the gargae attached to house
Garden is not enclosed for pets and children
Bathrooms need maintence i.e very wobbly taps, leaking showers. Bathrooms not very clean.
Flies everywhere in the kitchen and conservatory also dead flies along the window sills. Cobwebs everywhere. General cleanliness was pretty poor.
Windows were filthy inside and out.
Unable to use tv for children in the venings as netflix and other apps are locked to another user.
Absolutely gorgeous location, very quiet and peaceful. Fantastic views all around. Beautiful scenery for walking. Need car to get to shops etc. Would love to stay again if the above gets sorted out.

Our family of 8 have just had a 3 night stay here and WOW the place it’s self is stunning. We couldnt have asked for more, kitchen was brilliant had all the bits and bobs we needed gorgeous dining table was plenty big enough to fit us all round. bedrooms were big and spacious, comfy beds, plenty of towels too. Light, airy comfortable, we felt right at home straight away. The garden was a lovely bonus too. We would definitely return

Lovely birthday weekend
Positive: Lovely property very comfortable for family get together
Negative: Nothing
GuestAirbnbApr 2025
Rather stressful from the company Dale, in view of receiving access details for the property.
Repeated emails asking to complete a check in form via a link, but no link on repeated emails and contact. However was resolved easily by phone call to the company.
Ranworth - wonderful comfortable home for our family celebration and get together, with excellent communal space.
Ravenscar - magnificent and beautiful coastline. Stunning views, mixture of walks and wild/sea life.
We’ve all enjoyed a superb time together. Thank you.

Ranworth - fantastic for family holiday
Positive: House was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Perfect for 8 of us.
Stunning sea view from window and garden.
There is a really cosy conservatory, where we can socialise.
Very good location - close to a lot of beautiful places like Robin Hood's Bay, Staithes, or Whitby. A few minutes from house to scenic Cleveland Way.
Negative: There is no cutlery at all in the kitchen, really weird, which we mentioned to host, but nobody's replied. We bought a set for us, just mentioned again for a future quest comfort. Apart from this kitchen, it is very good equipped.

The Ranworth exceeded expectations! Perfect for some time away with family!

My whole family loved our stay, lovely weather helped!! Lovely walks and gorgeous veiws
Positive: Location is beautiful, the house is beautiful
Negative: Lack of equipment in the kitchen e.g. No oven gloves or tea towel
There was confetti/ sequins left on window sills and dining table and party popper strong on the settee in the main sitting room.

A nice enough place to stay for a family gathering. A few issues regarding the general cleanliness of the property. Old and draughty buildings but to be expected.

Really lovely house in a beautiful setting. Loads of space for the 7 of us, fab kitchen and dining area. Nice walks to Robin Hoods Bay and surrounding area. Good hotel 5 mins walk away for bar and food. Great views out to sea. We had a really lovely stay thank you.

It worked for our special Weekend, well worth the trip.
Positive: Quirky, nice atmosphere, not cramped, rest for our six person group.
Negative: N/A

Hello, the four of us had the most wonderful weekend at Ravenscar. The house was perfect and we were totally spoilt by having a bedroom each - such luxury.
The kitchen had everything we needed and the table in the conservatory was perfect for meals, chatting and playing board games.
The house was easy to find and we were so lucky with the weather - sunshine everyday and just a bit breezy on the Sunday.
Thank you so much for letting us stay to celebrate our 20th anniversary of our friendship and first trip away.
With kind regards
Beverley

A lovely, large house with plenty of character in a pretty but peaceful stretch of the Yorkshire Coast. We settled in quickly and particularly liked the kitchen and conservatory area which was modern, well equipped and bathed in sunlight. We traveled as a party of five and there was more than enough space for us all. We appreciated the nearby coastal path with beautiful views over the cliffs and also wished we'd brought bikes due to the proximity of the Whitby - Scarborough Greenway.
The decor isn't to everyone's taste (fine if you like lots of animal heads on the wall) and we found the main bed really creeky, but otherwise it was comfortable and we were sad to leave.
GuestAirbnbFeb 2025
The property is beautiful, it was a lovely getaway for a group of 8. Plenty of space for us all.
We would stay again, just a few minor adjustments needed but it did not spoil out time away.
Dusty on the floors under radiators and in corners
Little rubbish in the bathroom
Downstairs toilet not in use and we was not told
Instant hot water tab did not work
We was not told an annex was attached with another group on a weekend away, the other group was using the outside space that looked straight into the house, that was a little unsettling and annoying.
None of this put us off and would return, just slight things to note.

We immensely enjoyed our stay in Ravenscar. The house was just as described, and we made good use of the conservatory throughout our visit. Perfect for big groups.

GuestAirbnbFeb 2025
Beautiful clean home which catered brilliantly for 8 of us - plenty of space and privacy. We had a fabulous weekend making memories with local visits to Whitby & Robin Hoods Bay. The conservatory room at the end of the kitchen is a stunning feature which was great for sitting socially. We would definitely recommend this home to others, and would stay again if looking for a home in this location. Thanks again!

We stayed in this lovely home with our family — myself, my partner, his mum, dad, sister, and our two babies — and it was absolutely fantastic! The house was spacious, spotless, and perfectly set up for both adults and little ones. We felt comfortable from the moment we arrived.
The bedrooms were cozy, the living areas were bright and welcoming, and everything we needed was right at our fingertips. It genuinely felt like a home away from home. The host was friendly, accommodating, and quick to respond, which made the whole experience even better.
We all had such a great time and made special memories here. We would happily stay again and highly recommend this place to any family looking for a relaxing, comfortable getaway!

We had a lovely stay but we had 1 year olds with us and for us there were too many baby risks, but that’s not the hosts fault!
The kitchen and conservatory area are stunning and great for a group meal. Really a credit to the property.
There were little things about the property that need some TLC but overall our stay was comfortable.

Beautiful quirky house in small village, needs a few finishing touches
Positive: Great location for local beaches, house has very quirky decor which we loved. Sea view from some rooms. Beautiful small village with cricket pitch across the road from house, hotel with food and bar 5 mins walk has stunning views over Robin Hoods Bay. House well equipped and clean. Needs a few finishing touches
Negative: No cushions for garden furniture, I emailed 3 times to ask about them but got nowhere, garden table dirty, house not suitable for young children or infirm, no hand rail to top floor, garden not fenced in, steep steps to front door. Unfinished plug sockets in bedroom, damp under window in 1 bathroom, 2 sitting rooms would be better knocking in to one so everyone could sit together rather than 4 people in each. No tin opener and wine fridges in kitchen didn’t work you couldn’t turn them low. There’s a small holiday let on site attached to house which we didn’t know about but it wasn’t an issue
GuestAirbnbJul 2025
A great location to use as a base, set in beautiful scenery.
NOT beachside as described in listing.
Not ideal for those with limited mobility.
A tired looking property.
N0 basics in kitchen, despite listing saying there is i.e. salt, pepper, oil, black bags etc - we had to buy EVERYTHING.
One tea towel for a weeks stay?!
No cushions for uncomfortable outdoor furniture.
Flat batteries in TV remote (batteries in cupboard wrong size)
Borders overgrown, lawn unsure when it was last cut.
But the flies, really spoilt out stay - some kind of device needed for kitchen/conservatory area to address the problem.
Rugs in door ways are a hazard they slip all over.
Wobbly taps, peeling paint & rust on upstairs bath.
En-suite shower on 1st floor, scolding hot and unusable.
Very disappointed in-terms of value for money Vs what we paid for 7 nights.

Beautiful house in a lovely area. House was clean and well maintained. View of the sea from the 1st and 2nd floors. The tearoom in Ravenscar was nice and had gluten free options. We enjoyed the rural, peaceful location and found it a relaxing stay. I didn’t realise that the garden wasn’t fully fenced. I may have missed it in the description of the house. So we did have to take the dog outside on a lead every time and that also meant we couldn’t open any of the doors leading to the garden as she could get out and into the road. I would definitely stay again.
GuestAirbnbJun 2025
Lovely home but we had to clean the cutlery and crockery as wasn’t very clean. The blind in the top floor twin room was broken and on the windowsill and the shower in the 1st floor double en-suite was either hot or scalding.
The lawn on the back garden didn’t look like it had been mowed in weeks
Despite this we had a lovely stay great location 20 mins drive from Whitby or Scarborough about 10 mins drive from local pubs we would recommend three jolly sailors or oak wheel both take dogs
You can hear the wind howling in the bedrooms on the top floor so take earplugs very glad we did

Beautiful house, exactly as photos. Stunning location, perfect for walking, breathtaking views across Robin Hood Bay. Numerous choice of local eateries, tried a few, all very good and local people very friendly.
Host is called Jason, when we got hold of him he was extremely helpful but I don’t know who Dale is. We never spoke to anyone called Dale
Have already booked for next year

A lovely, cosy house to spend a weekend. Sea views from upstairs. There is plenty of parking, easy to find using the check-in details sent to us before we arrived. We walked from Ravenscar to Robin Hood's bay - fantastic walk, well signposted (we were fortunate that one of our party didn't fancy it and came to pick us up - wouldn't have wanted to walk back!!). Would recommend the house! Thanks for having us!

Lovely house, had a great time visiting with family.
Positive: Super easy to collect the keys, they were in a key lock box at the side of the property which was explained multiple times in emails prior to arriving with the key code.
All bedding and towels were brand new, it was lovely and super clean. Highchair and travel cot were also in the cupboard by the front door which was a great added bonus for the highchair! House is beautiful, with 2 living rooms. We were a family for 4 adults and 2 young children, we only needed 1 living room but having the other room is great if families need more space on visits! My mum loved the hot tap, great added bonus to such a lovely kitchen set up! & the owners added some childrens toys in the garden for us when we arrived when they saw we had young children which was an additional lovely bonus!
Negative: The only moan is that the beds were very creaky, any slight move in the double beds could be heard from other rooms. The single beds I was told to be comfortable.

Truly amazing and beautiful location. We came for a wedding at grand villa heights. No more than 10 mins walk to the venue. I would highly recommend staying here. Rooms are beautiful, amenities perfect. Garden perfect for a little dog to run around.
Thank you for making our stay perfect.

We had a lovely stay at Ranworth. Plenty of space for all the family and a great location for exploring the surrounding area.
The house could do with a little maintenance and small touches that would have made our stay even better.
ChrisVrboMay 2026
The listing for the property was inaccurate. There were 4 bedrooms as listed but not the 4 bathrooms with tub/showers as listed. So we were disappointed, having to share bathrooms. The so called 4th bathroom was merely a toilet in the corner of the laundry room. Our friends in bedroom on floor 1 with single beds reported the feel of large ball bearings in the mattress. Probably coils. The TV in the main lounge did not function. We were told to Hotspot it. Nope that didnt work. Not a fan of putting an app on my phone to get info on the place. It was supposed to work outside of wifi...it did not. No instructions on how to turn up heat. Paragraph that was on app made no sense, talked about a remote in laundry room...what?A big teapot would have been nice.
MichelleBooking.comApr 2026
Location great for our family wedding nearby.
Positive: The location was excellent. The cottage very pretty but on deeper inspection didn’t really meet expectations the conservatory is beautiful
Negative: Cleanliness was a negative factor along with quality of facilities water pressure, no functioning TV mattresses in 2 1st floor rooms were of poor quality and disturbed sleep.
The steps to the property were unfriendly to people with walking challenges.
GuestAirbnbApr 2026
We stayed here as a group of 8 (4 adults, 4 children) and unfortunately had a very poor experience. The property was not clean on arrival—there was mould in the bathroom, thick dust (you could write in it), and cobwebs throughout. The condition was also poor, with bubbling paintwork and holes in the walls.
More concerning were safety issues, including a plug socket hanging off the wall with visible live wires, and dishes placed under radiators to catch leaks. With children present, this felt unsafe.
The TV did not work at all. We reported it twice and were told to use a hotspot, which didn’t work. There was also only one working shower for eight people.
Communication was poor with no real attempt to fix issues. We have photos as proof. Overall, very disappointing and would not recommend.

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt in Ravenscar sehr genossen. Das grosse Haus mit Garten an wunderbarer Lage war mit den Kindern ideal.
LauraBooking.comApr 2026
Stunning house, amazing views, plenty of room and facilities.
Positive: The location of the property is perfect, not far drive to anything. The views are amazing and just make the experience. There’s plenty of room, the kitchen and the conservatory are the focal point and we spent a lot of time in there.
GuestAirbnbMar 2026
Absolutely disgusting inside, found dog faeces in one of the living rooms, dead flies and dust in almost every room, floor and walls were grimey.
For a dog friendly accommodation there were hidden rules on arrival where dogs weren’t allowed on furniture or upstairs with no way of stopping this. The garden was very slippy and not suitable for the dog. Whilst not advertised as enclosed there were areas that were a risk to the dog.
We decided to not stay after checking over the property and when packing back up the host was rude through the ring doorbell. We had spoken to host and stay who “managed” the property and they were no help in resolving any of it.

Lovely stay at Ranworth House. The views and surrounding areas were the best. Saw the owner at end of our stay who spoke to us what a lovely family they are. Wish we could have stayed longer.
LynnBooking.comFeb 2026
Great location, lovely house, but we feel it needs the above issues dealing with.
Positive: A lovely house with very unique and quirky decor.
It was clean and comfortable.
Lovely conservatory, and we can only imagine what the view was like…..we had thick fog for the two days we were there, which was unfortunate.
However, the location is great to explore the wonderful coastline.
Negative: We arrived at 16:15 in the thick fog and couldn’t find the property. We drove about a mile passed it. The instructions to find the house would be better saying turn onto Church Lane and it’s the second on the left!
The house was so cold we had to keep our coats on for quite a while after arriving. The thermostat was set to 15 deg. Knowing that your guests aren’t allowed to check in until 4pm, especially in winter, it would have been a nice welcome touch for a light to have been turned on and the heating turned up. We later found out, from the owner himself, that the hall radiator had been taken off to powder coat. Was this really an essential job to be done in the winter months? There was also no radiator in the back sitting room, altho they had provided an electric heater.
It would have been nice if the log basket had of been stocked, and matches provided to light the log burner with.
Neither of the TVs worked. Apparently they had had new WiFi installed and were having TV connection issues. It was advertised as having TVs, which we expected to work, not just for decoration. We contacted the owner as he’d volunteered his number, and told us that he was aware and that we had to hotspot from our phones !!
The shower rose on first floor landing bathroom didn’t work.
The wooden towel rail in the first floor en suite bathroom was broken.
Some of the wooden floors were rough, small rugs by the beds would be a nice touch.
Basic provisions, like a salt and pepper mill would have been a nice touch.

Beautiful house, plenty of space and in a nice location. Missing a few bits you would expect like salt, pepper or cooking oil. All in would recommend

Positive: Location,most parts of house
Negative: Bad uncomfortable matresses, downstairs tvs not working, shower upstairs not working, lights kept tripping if the outside light was put on.

Beautiful house set in idyllic surroundings. We all felt at home as soon as we got there. There was an issue with a leaking radiator but the owners came out within 10 mins of reporting it and fixed it. Would highly recommend 👌

5 stars all round. My only comment is a few more cooking utensils would be great, like a baking tray and a mixing bowl. Otherwise a fantastic place and we would go back.

Lovely Ranworth house!
Positive: Everything about the house. Its really lovely. The dining area my favourite. It is quiet and peaceful there. The quirky decor. The bed linen is crisp and ironed. Everything!
Negative: Nothing really. There's a couple of little jobs needing doing eg the tap in my bathroom needing fixing. A few little things like that.
It could do with an instruction book for use of various items in the kitchen, the Bose speakers were a complete mystery and the tv in the lounge we gave up on.
When we arrived at the property the satnav took us up the lane. I tried calling the number we were given but it was out of office hours so we were stuck. We found it eventually. In the directions it just needs 'turn right onto Church Road, the property is the 2nd house on the left'.

GuestAirbnbJun 2025
Stunning property in a convenient location within a short walk of Raven Hall with ample off-road parking.
Check-in was smooth and the instructions were easy to follow. First impressions of the property were good; lovely kitchen and dining area and nicely decorated throughout.
Host & Stay were very responsive to messages during our stay but we were disappointed to note that there weren't any cushions for the patio furniture.
A few other issues, some of which have been raised by previous guests which don't appear to have been rectified include:
1. Lack of bins - only one in the entire house
2. No blind in one of the attic bedrooms which is an issue during summer
3. Scalding hot shower in the first floor ensuite, temperature could not be adjusted
4. Numerous dirty hand marks on the windows
5. No locks on any of the bathroom doors. Some bathroom doors don't have a catch in order to close the door properly
The property has great potential if the above issues were addressed.

Beautifully decorated house with lots of character, in a very picturesque location. Great dining area to socialise. Spacious en-suites (though would benefit from bins) and handy to have another bathroom on the first floor (as well as the fourth toilet - a downstairs loo which doubles as a utility room - on the ground floor). Lots of fridge space. Nice garden, though we sadly didn't have the weather to enjoy it!
