Railman’s Rest is a charming, dog friendly holiday home located in the seaside town of Whitby on the North Yorkshire coast. Sleeping up to 6 guests, it’s the perfect place for family holidays and getaways with friends.

About this property

Railman’s Rest has a bright and spacious living room. You’ll find original features throughout the space including beautiful coving and a black iron fireplace. Light floods in from the tall bay window and there is a comfy sofa with a matching armchair where you can relax with your loved ones. Turn on the flat screen TV to enjoy Freeview and a DVD player. All TVs at this property are smart TVs.

Fully equipped, the kitchen has modern appliances and cookware so you can prepare meals easily. Upon arrival, guests will receive a welcome pack containing treats from a local bakery. The dining area includes a table and six dining chairs. There is a Bluetooth speaker for guests to use. A log burner and starter kindling are provided for guests. French doors lead to an enclosed patio area with seating for up to six guests.

You’ll find two bedrooms on the first floor of the property and the third bedroom on the second floor. Stylish and tranquil, each bedroom features plush bedding and premium bed linens to ensure you have the best sleep possible. Each bedroom also includes a dressing table and a flat screen TV so you can enjoy long lazy mornings with a cup of tea in bed. The second floor bedroom is equipped with a PS4 with games. There are also games, books and DVDs for entertainment at this property.

The master bedroom boasts a king size bed, the second bedroom has a double bed and the third bedroom is a twin.

The family bathroom is located on the first floor. Beautifully designed, this space includes a bathtub with a handheld shower, a large walk in shower, a WC and a basin.

The area

Railman’s Rest is located near the harbour in Whitby and you’ll find restaurants, shops and pubs less than a 10-minute walk away.

The house is located on the West side of Whitby. You’ll be able to revel in the nostalgic seaside charm - head to the arcades or explore the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts.

Venture over the swing bridge and you’ll reach the East bank. This side of Whitby is full of narrow, medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.

Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.

You’ll find restaurants, pubs and shops just in a short walk from Railman’s Rest.

Whitby train station is nearby so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.

There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.

“Lovely clean and tidy cottage. Near the town got used to the hill after a few days. Had everything you needed even books and games for the kids (and adults).Nice to have welcome pack biscuits milk etc nice thought.Rooms nice and large tvs in all bedrooms. Bonus to have washing machine and dishwasher (not that we used). Cottage was well furnished and homely. We were lucky we had no issues with parking.Def recommend. Thank you”
