We had such a wonderful stay at Puffins Rest. From the very start, the arrival process was simple and stress-free, with friendly communication throughout our stay that really helped us make the most of our time there. The welcome area guide was excellent, highlighting local amenities and attractions – really useful for exploring the area. The accommodation itself was beautifully maintained and thoughtfully prepared, with lovely touches such as the basket of toys and games in the children’s room, which our children adored. Access to the site felt safe and secure, the Wi-Fi was fast and reliable and overall it truly felt like a home away from home. The location couldn’t be better – the beach was just a short walk away and larger spots like Whitby were only about 20 minutes’ drive, giving us the best of both worlds. We had a fantastic time and honestly can’t wait to rebook. Such a fantastic place and a brilliant host – highly recommended!

we recently stayed for 2 nights with our four year old girl. we absolutely loved it, exactly as described, clean and tidy and the lodge is situated in a calm, safe, peaceful and private location. great location too, ideal for whitby and surrounding areas. we will definitely be booking to stay again

Had a great little family break. Puffins Rest was clean and comfortable and we relaxed and enjoyed the cabin and Runswick Bay. The log burner kept us nice and warm despite the cold weather. Plenty to do nearby and good food at Runswick Bay Hotel and Fish Cottage (Sandsend). Would definitely come back!

My family and I have just returned from 3 nights stay at Puffins Rest and we can’t recommend it enough! The lodge was beautiful and exactly as described in a beautiful location. We would definitely stay again!!

On the whole, a lovely property and a great family holiday. The property and amenities are exactly as specified, the location is easy to find and the setting is really very lovely. Beds, sofas and soft furnishings are all of excellent quality. However, there were a few issues: 1) As mentioned in a few other reviews, the standard of cleanliness wasn't what I was expected for the price (behind/underneath sofas was thick with dust, fixtures also very dusty, etc) 2) Although rectified onsite (and within 24hrs) by a kind chap who was not directly affiliated with Host and Stay, a corner post and two very large panes of glass fell through on the outside decking area shortly after we arrived at the property. Some other smaller maintenance issues as well (e.g. trim coming away from outside steps, causing a hazard). Unlike other Airbnb properties, you won't find welcome baskets etc on arrival sadly, but this isn't a deal breaker. A genuinely lovely property, but some room for improvement.

Puffins rest was as lovely as the photos, easy to find and had everything we needed for our stay. We would definitely look at returning if we come back to the area. Short walk down to Runswick bay, big hill on the way back but we managed with the kids ok.

Great location, really good for a family break.

This is the second time we’ve stayed at Puffin’s Rest and we enjoyed it just as much. The lodge is very spacious and comfortable and in a great location for walks. Our children loved the bunk beds and the fire was lovely in winter. It would be nice to have a slightly earlier check in, particularly in quiet periods and a welcome pack with a few essentials such as a few extra pieces of wood would also be a nice addition.

Beautiful chalet / cabin. Very well presented, with everything you could possibly need. Perfect for a family holiday by a beautiful seaside town. We would 100% come back.

Great stay. We felt right at home in the spacious lodge. Everything clean and tidy with well equipped kitchen. Short walk to Runswick Bay. The bunk beds (with porthole windows) were a big hit with our 4 year old.

Puffin’s Rest was a beautiful lodge decorated to the highest standard. It was the perfect winters break for our family - extremely cosy and a great location. The only minor point is the bedding was a little uncomfortable and check-in at 4pm and checkout at 10am eats into the stay quite a bit. Plus we felt the damage waiver should be included in the overall price as an extra fee was a little disappointing. Other than that we were really happy with the stay and would definitely return.

We loved our stay. The lodge is beautiful, modern, clean and much more spacious than the photos make it appear! It is very well equipped, and had some lovely little extras we weren't expecting, such as a fully stocked wood basket for the cosy real fire, books in the children's room, fresh milk in the fridge, and coffee pods for the espresso machine. Perfect location for coastal walks and gorgeous Runswick Bay. We will defintely be back!

The photos really don’t do Puffin’s Rest justice. It was a beautiful place to stay with everything that you could need in the lodge. We had a very relaxing weekend, in a little bit of luxury! We will definitely return.

Peaceful, idyllic, scenic area. Beautifully presented property with high specification appliances, furnishings and decor. Spacious, luxury accommodation; comfortable, clean and relaxing. Safe and quiet site with beach, tearoom and pub within walking distance.

Comfortable Luxury! We have just spend a wonderful weekend at Puffins Rest. The property is situated in a holiday park at the top of the hill in Runswick, do not be put off by this it is quiet and has a 5 star feel. It feels as though the owners have gone the extra mile in tastefully decorating the puffins rest, the furniture was beautiful, the colour scheme…everything. The beds were soo comfortable, I had an amazing nights sleep. The accommodation has everything you need for a great holiday…etc. Would 100% stay again. The only thing I can say that could be improved is that it would have been nice to have been left some coffee pods for the espresso machine, milk for a tea/coffee if you’ve had a long drive and also some toiletries, but not really any complaints other than that. Great place.

Lovely little stay a short walk from Runswick Bay Well equipped lodge with lovely interiors. Child friendly and easy to get to. Our family had a lovely time. 1year old, three year old myself my partner and my mum. We came for a long weekend to celebrate a friends wedding in Whitby and it was perfect.

Ideal for a short break A super property in a beautiful N Yorks coastal village. Very comfortably furnished, with all mod cons. The 4-star rating is because we were advised just before our arrival that there was a problem with both the dishwasher and the oven, though the problems were resolved to our satisfaction. Also, the location of the property itself was not clearly described. Overall, a very enjoyable stay and I would thoroughly recommend this for a friends or family break.

the perfect wintery stay! We stayed in December & it was perfect! Really cozy with the log fire and mini Christmas tree! The cabin had everything we needed for a mini get away and was really relaxing! Kinda felt like Cameron Diaz from the movie Holiday! Perfect location to beach & supermarkets and shops are 16mins away via car! We will deffo be staying again! The hosts made it feel like we were home, had everything sorted for us before we arrived! Only thing to change would be a flexible check out time in off peak seasons, so instead of it being 10am, it is between 10-12pm! But otherwise, perfect!

Lovely weekend stay at Puffins Rest. Everything was as described and as per the other reviews. Perfect location to explore Yorkshire (whether by bus or car) but go prepared as there’s not much by way of shops / cafes. There is an American style fridge freezer and a fully equipped kitchen. Would recommend and return.

We love puffins rest! It’s our third time here and we highly recommend. The cabin is comfortable, cosy and peaceful and close to beautiful walks and great food in local pubs. Bus ride to Whitby makes it easy! We will be back again soon!

Very restful at Puffins Rest Positive: The property is so cosy and comfortable. It’s also so well equipped with everything you could possibly need for dining in, or for washing and cleaning your clothes. It even comes with extras such as LED candles and wood for the fire. Negative: There was nothing to dislike about the property at all. The only slight drawback would be the amount of messages received from the management team ahead of the stay and during. It feels a bit hostile to be asked more than once whether you have broken anything and to be reminded about checking out times before you have even arrived.

The Puffins Rest cabin at Runswick Bay has been an excellent holiday stay for us. We found the place to be exactly like the pics, neat and tidy, and with all the amenities working well. The host was also very responsive and helpful with detailed communication. Within the cabin, there was a nice pack of instructions and tourist information. Which made it easy to manage stuff around the cabin and for us to plan things to do on our holidays. The location is very private, quiet and peaceful. It is within the Runswick Bay village area with easy access to pubs and seaside. Runswick Bay itself is within short driving distance to other coastal locations like Staithes, Sandsend, Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay. So plenty to explore around the coast for a few days. A few things you may want to plan out though. Firstly, it is best to have your own car even though public transport is available. Secondly, grocery shopping are limited. We did ours at Co-op in Staithes. Overall, highly recommended.

Insufficient instruction: I was struggling to find the lodge. It needs more deep cleaning the dust comes from underneath the furniture.

We were blown away by the comfort, finish and ease of this property. It had everything we needed and the decor and furnishings were of a very high standard. The Pines is a quiet gated community that was good to be part of while we wet staying at the Puffins Rest. We will be coming back in the future for another stay in this great location which was a number of stunning places to visit nearby.

Stunning lodge in a peaceful location! No expense spared in this lodge, the decor and furnishings are to a high quality. The lodge is well equipped, felt spacious and clean throughout. The area is beautiful and had a lovely coastal walk to Staithes. Great communication and easy entry. Would highly recommend and have done to friends already. We look forward to returning.

The cabin was excellent. Done out to a high spec, everything you could need in terms of kitchen and easy to feel quickly at home. Peaceful site minutes from the beautiful Runswick Bay. Particularly lovely to be able to sit out on the balcony in the sunshine until late evening. We loved it.

Beautiful lodge, comfy beds and well equipped. Great location to explore the North Yorkshire coastline by car or walking. Loved the beaches at Runswick Bay and Saltburn. Excellent food at the nearby Runswick Bay Hotel.

This is our second stay at Puffin's Rest and we loved it just as much as the first. We love the spacious living area, the well equipped kitchen and lovely bedrooms. It's a great location for Runswick Beach frolics, ice cream and pub food and not too far away from Staithes and Whitby if you wanted to venture out. I'm sure we'll be back.

Fabulous lodge beautifully decorated & furnishings. Well equipped with everything you need. Stunning location at Runswick Bay only 10 min walk down to the gorgeous beach. The Royal pub in the village is great for food & a drink views are amazing. Great location for visiting nearby Whitby, staithes, Sandsend etc. Plenty to see and do and we will definitely be back.

Beautiful stay we felt right at home, everything clean and tidy with everything we needed. Super cosy and walkable to runswick bay and 15 min drive to Whitby. We will definitely be returning and recommending to friends and family.

A stunning lodge with everything you need for a perfect family getaway! Beautifully furnished and decorated and the wood burning stove was perfect for the cold evenings! The odd bit of sunshine was enjoyed on the lovely decking area or at the stunning beach which is a short walk away (prepare yourself for a steep hill climb on the way back up!) Perfect family getaway, highly recommend 👍
