Our first stay in Northumberland and this was a great spot! Walking distance to Barter Books, Alnwick castle and Alnwick town. Perfect quiet beach nearby (Long Houghton - great for rock pooling when tide out) and co-op just next door for essentials. We are a family of 5 with a dog and the property was well sized for us. Easy free parking outside x
Very enjoyable family holiday Positive: Very clean and roomy with comfortable furniture and beds. Well equipped kitchen. Good location to walk into Alnwick. Negative: Everything was very nice but maybe some hooks on back of door in bathroom to hang things on. Anti slip mat in shower too would be a safety measure.
No fault of the property owners but the experience with Host & Stay was dreadful. Despite knowing that we had to cut short our holiday after our son & daughter were in a car accident that required us to return home after the first night, we continued to receive messages asking if we were enjoying our stay. I left a phone charger in the property and paid Host & Stay for its return. The charger arrived yesterday, a week after I’d paid the invoice. Concentrate on customers more and a little less on the bottom line.
Great location, lack amenities for small children advertised Positive: Great property located close to Alnwick centre and easily walkable to local landmarks. Rooms were comfy. Negative: Request was made in advance for a high chair and confirm it would be made available to us. However, on arrival high chair was not there and then were advised it could not longer be supplied. This made it a hinderance for feeding our 7month old child. In addition, the property was presentable but was some areas of fluff around the floors from previous cleaning.
Great family stay Positive: Beautiful cottage, with everything we needed for a lovely Northumberland break with family. Plenty of room for the children and perfect for access to Alnwick town centre on foot. Negative: The only complaint we have is the heating wasn’t working properly so that the radiators would not increase on heat for us when we tried to turn up the temp control on the thermostat. This made our stay with little ones quite uncomfortable as we ended up having to layer up with jumpers etc to keep warm. We did ask the hosts to turn it up but that wasn’t done. Disappointing as everything else was perfect.
Relaxing Positive: It was cosy. The kitchen was well equipped so we could cook family meals.
It was a newly refurbished property that was very clean and cosy. The description was accurate and we had a very nice stay with 6 adults sharing, it was large enough to accommodate us all. I would recommend this place wholeheartedly.

Amazing Cottage! My husband & I were travelling from the US, & were so fortunate to find Porter Cottage. It was situated so close to the center of Alnwick, & the property itself was extremely clean & homely.
First impressions: a very welcoming. extremely clean and tidy place - once we had managed to get in. That was the only drawback, the instructions were for a different type of key safe and this one, although obvious in operation, was very reluctant to open. Excellent facilities; well equipped spacious kitchen with good quality equipment; and a large comfortable lounge Great to see the eco influence. Quiet area, easily walkable into town and to local transport Very comprehensive guide; which gives instructions for using the Hive thermostat - if you enjoy a treasure hunt try to find it (them). Good communication from Host & Stay and very quick responses to any query. Overall excellent and much recommended.
Had a lovely stay at Porter Cottage. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Short ten minute walk into Alnwick town centre with good choice of bars and restaurants, many of which are dog friendly. The castle is only a ten minute walk too. Great communication with host prior to and throughout our stay.Alnwick is a great base to explore the Northumberland coast.

Perfect location for exploring the Northumberland coast. Negative: Cold when we arrived but heated up quickly once resolved. Needs a few more hooks for e.g. towels.

The property was warm, comfortable, clean tidy and well equipped. Modern with a few period features remaining, close to Alnwick town centre (10 min walk) and a convenience store within a couple of minutes walk.

A lovely place to stay in the heart of Alnwick. The amenities were brilliant with modern appliances including a washing machine, dishwasher etc. Plenty in the kitchen to cook your own food. Lovely decor and a helpful guidebook sent prior to getting there. Many thanks for a lovely stay
Positive: Seems to be recently refurbished, has everything we needed. The ground floor - kitchen, living room, and utility room - is very spacious. There were 6 of us and plenty of room downstairs. Parking also simple enough right outside. Negative: The upstairs bedrooms are very compact. We knew if would be like this, so isn't a complaint. Just so people know what they are getting. The property size is on the listing and is accurate.
We had a lovely stay at Porter Cottage. The house is lovely, well appointed and a perfect base to explore the Northumberland Coast. The location was great - around a fifteen minute walk into the centre of Alnwick.
We fad a fantastic few days here us this lovely, well appointed and very clean house. It’s super convenient for walking to the town of Alnwick and the castle. The key safe is quite tricky to open which needs a bit of attention and the second bedroom was tight for space. But no complaints from us - we enjoyed our stay very much
Lovely cottage, great location, few tweaks and it would be perfect Positive: This is a lovely exceptionally clean cottage, which is much bigger than you’d think it would be, in particular downstairs. Nicely decorated and location is excellent, only a 10 min walk to Alnwick centre. Coop very close by for stocking up on supplies. Kitchen and dining room are great size if you’re planning on cooking/eating in. Quiet street and very comfy beds. Negative: Although it was decorated very tastefully it could have done with a few more personal style touches, there was tonnes of space in the living room for example, so it seemed odd to have no side tables etc to put drinks etc. these are small issues but addition of little things like this would make the cottage perfect. the management company host & stay were not great I got repeated automated emails saying if I needed anything to contact but when I asked a question I struggled to get a reply. Also way too many automated emails they got quite annoying during my stay. This element could be improved.

Positive: Lovely property, modern and clean Negative: The property was cold. Was a sign saying do not touch the boiler as heating set to come in every day . Never came on in the evening. Supposed to be a hive system so maybe being controlled by the owner but we were freezing and instead put the wood burner on. In the handbook said there was a thermostat in the kitchen but there wasn’t .

Porter's Cottage was a perfect choice for a long weekend, the cottage was exactly as described and Host & Stay communicated very clearly about everything from check-in, to amenities and check-out. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to stay in the area.

Really enjoyed our stay. Quiet and comfortable in a good location. Positive: The location was great for exploring Alnwick and Coast. Plenty of room in cottage. Parking was easy. Kitchen and utility well equipped. Negative: Lacking a bit of storage in second bedroom. Shower room could get a bit damp if many using it, would be better to have a shower in main bedroom en suite too.

Porter cottage gave us a comfortable and relaxed base for our holiday exploring Alnwick and Northumberland. Positive: Porter Cottage is well presented with new and good quality furniture, bathroom and kitchen fittings. It is well equipped and very clean. The location suited us too with easy parking and close to local shops for essentials. Negative: Could benefit from a bit more local character and extra finishing touches such as local pictures on the walls. Also more than 1 dishwasher tablet would be appreciated.
The location was ideal and you could walk to the high street very easily. The property looked like the photos shared on Airbnb. Spacious property and comfortable. Was nice to have a small outside courtyard also. Would happily stay again & recommend to friends/family :)
Super location! House was in a nice quiet area, very handy for shops, town and local sites. Plenty to see and do. In particular, we liked the downstairs, as it had a lovely big kitchen which is great for those that love to cook or a nice big table if you’re just having a takeaway! Living room was great with a good quality, big TV (which can be quite hard to find in an Airbnb). Upstairs was ok, but bathrooms could be better with more hanging areas for towels etc. Also the cabinet above the sink in the main bathroom made it hard to access the sink in an already small room. We also would have appreciated more storage in the double bedroom as it was very limited. Despite this, we enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend!!

Well equipped home, as described and pictured. Decently clean apart from stair and upstairs carpets that had crumbs and debris from previous occupants (this is a shame as the rest of the property was clean and well presented). Beds were extremely comfortable, linen nice, bedrooms not fussy with clutter. Alnwick town within a comfortable walking distance as is Lidl which was roughly a 6 min walk. On street parking seems plentiful enough, it can be trickier later on in the evening but surrounding streets offer more parking. Small amount of welcome washing up liquid and soap provided which is always nice. Overall a pleasant stay, thanks!
Excellent Accommodation conveniently situated for the Northumberland coast. The cottage itself had everything you could need possibly need and the parking although on street was not a problem. Highly recommend.
