As a family of 12 (8 adults and 4 kids aged 3-10years), we found the house very clean, spacious, comfortable and warm. It was in an excellent position with nearby shops, leisure centre a short walk to the sea. It was decorated for Christmas and there were thoughtful touches, ample toiletries and starters of milk, tea, coffee and dishwasher tablets. The parking permits were also very welcome. The kids liked the games that were there and loved the big bath. There is some wear and tear across the house (it is up for sale so to be expected) and nowhere near enough cutlery, bowls or glasses for 12 people to dine comfortably. This has been noted on previous reviews and has not been remedied which is disappointing. Overall we had a lovely weekend stay.

Nice big place, great for families and location was perfect

GuestAirbnbAug 2025

a great accomodation for our family of 7.

GuestAirbnbMay 2025

Lovely house, perfect for our large family group, just a few minutes walk from the centre of town. Particularly appreciated the huge dining table, meaning we could all eat together.

GuestAirbnbApr 2025

What a fabulous place to stay. We were a family group from all over the UK and it was perfect for us. Plenty of room very light and airy. Great position for getting around Whitby. Had delicious meals at the Fisherman’s Wife and A Passage to India. Would definitely recommend staying and will come back again.

GuestAirbnbFeb 2025

Fabulous place for a family get together. Great facilities. The best of Whitby on your doorstep. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. Large windows let a lot of light in but curtain arrangement didn’t quite black out fully in some rooms so worth bringing a sleep mask. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate our daughter’s 30th

GuestAirbnbOct 2024

Great place - very attractive and comfortable and perfectly located for everything in Whitby. Highly recommend for groups of friends or family or for just two couples if you’re feeling indulgent! Very comfy beds but lucky I take my own pillow as the pillows are very hard which we found rather surprising given the thought put into the rest of the comfort. Minor point but worth knowing.

GuestAirbnbJul 2024

Fantastic house, just like pictures, lovely decor, very clean. Great for our 70th birthday get together x 3 families. Comfy beds and living areas, very central location for everything, lots to do in Whitby, right on doorstep. parking was absolutely fine, again not too far away from property. Host provided lots of information on getting there, what to do, very responsive throughout, could be accessed via phone easily during our stay. Would consider booking again should an occasion arise. Really great place, thank you for a lovely stay.

Overall pleasant stay in a good location but not for good for family with babies or toddlers. Positive: We Overall like the proper quality and location. 5 min walk from sea side. Supermarkets are nearby. Prime location but not congested. Beds were comfortable. Decoration of the house was maintained. Heating was good. Kitchen was well equipped. Huge dining hall. Negative: Problem is that in this house there are lots of stairs. Stairs were narrow and stiff. When we reached, all of the lights of the proper were working except lights on the stairs. Some lights of the property needed to get changed after we reached. Toiletries were very limited. We could not reach host and Stay very easily when needed. We called multiple times to just switch on the lights of the property. Lighting of the dinning hall should be higher.

GuestAirbnbJan 2024

Great location and beautiful home. Great for a family get together with the size of the home. Everything within walking distance. Had everything you could possibly need within the house games, utensils, 2 fridges, plenty of toilets, underfloor heating. Would definitely recommend and I would most certainly return.

GuestAirbnbJul 2023

The house on Musgrave Place was a fabulous house for all my family and friends to come together. The house was right in the heart if Whitby with everything on our doorstep. The downside of this is the limited parking. Even though you are provided with parking permits it's very difficult to find free spaces but that's just Whitby not the fault of the house. There was a bit of a mix up initially with the number of parking permits left for us but Host & Stay sorted the issue out for us. Overall we had a fantastic weekend in the house

GuestAirbnbNov 2022

The house was splendid - a bit of luxury for a family gathering. Communication with Host and Stay was very good and they sorted out a problem promptly and cheerfully when it was reported. Parking was a bit of a pain which I expect would be worse in the summer season but overall we had a great time.

GuestAirbnbSep 2022

Lovely house for a family stay. Excellent location and amenities. Would stay again.

was filthy on arrival, could not trust it wouldn’t happen again so will not use this company again. Positive: we arrived at the property quite late in the evening with our 3 yr d son having travelled after work., but it hadn’t been cleaned from the last guests stay. rubbish bags on the kitchen island. lots of cleaning bottles scattered around . bed sheets not changed and strewn across the floor. bins full. wet towels on radiators. random bits of rubbish laying around. it was awful. phoned the customer service number and after a while they called me back with their only alternative accommodation which was a 1 bedroom place. sent us to the wrong address to start with. 10.30pm still not in, called the customer services again and spoke to Ruth. absolutely could not have cared less that we were stuck outside with codes not working. said she emailed my concerns and customer service would get back to me but couldn’t tell me when . when we finally got in, one of us had to sleep on the floor. it was awful! absolutely could not contemplate going back to the filthy apartment so agreed with manager to cancel for full refund. Negative: awful experience . awaiting my full refund

Location great, inside not so great Positive: Lots of room for a group. Well equipped kitchen. Good shower pressure and temperature Negative: Couldn't put the heating higher. Rooms had a lot of damage including peeling of paint in the bedrooms, broken blinds and a really smelly downstairs toilet.

GuestAirbnbFeb 2025

Fabulous property in a great location. Lovely and warm, plenty of hot water, high quality bedding and very spacious for large groups. Would definately stay again. Highly recommended.

This house is great for large groups and in a brilliant location to explore Whitby. It was warm and spacious and we all had a great time.

kimBooking.comNov 2024

Great house for friends get together. Great dining room for breakfast/dinner and excellent location Positive: The location is excellent, only a few minutes walk into central Whitby, just off a lovely street with cafes, shops and pubs.

GuestAirbnbOct 2024

We were staying in the town house with a group of friends. It was fine but it could have been a better While the bedrooms are a good size and the beds were comfortable, the heating was a bit of a mystery and appeared to be disconnected in some of the rooms. There was also a large patch of damaged plaster in the 4th floor front bedroom and the room smelt damp, especially when it rained. We noted something growing out of the gutter above where the damp patch was. The bathroom drains were smelly but this cleared after the pipes were flushed through. The kitchen was fine and had almost everything we needed, sadly the large coffee pot was broken before we arrived. We did report this but it wasn't replaced before we checked out. The shared spaces were okay, the lounge was bright and sunny (when the sun was out) but felt cool in the evening. The dining room was fine but most of the light bulbs had blown so it was darker than it should have been, hopefully new bulbs will be fitted.

Great place, perfectly suited for a large group of people. All bedrooms are a great size and just to be able to sit as a family and have breakfast together round a large table was amazing. Every possible thing you would need is there - you don’t need to take anything with you. Location was also excellent, just a short walk from the harbour and shops. It’s quite hilly and we had two 80+ year olds with us but they managed just fine. Lovely coffee and breakfast sandwiches at Stokers directly beneath and great value hearty food and entertainment at The Granby just fifty yards away (but you need to book a table to avoid disappointment). To summarise, I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Thanks for a great stay!

JaneBooking.comSep 2024

A great place in a great location for large groups travelling together. Positive: The location was fantastic, the big beautiful rooms and bathrooms were great. Negative: The cleanliness, the carpets were filthy and hadn't been vacumned. We had 4 kids playing on the floor constantly so would have preferred some clean floors. Beds still had stuff under them from previous guests. We didn't like that there was no dryer to dry the clothes we washed either. The lounge room had terrible lighting we could barely see at night so hunted down lamps from the property and brought them into the lounge room. We asked host and stay reps about parking permits and they said we don't get any (however by chance we ran into the property manager that day and she provided us with permits), they said we could have a cot and extra bed months before when we booked then when we followed up to confirm a week before arriving (which they asked us to do) they said they couldn't accommodate. That left us 2 days before we flew out of australia to work out ourselves. Host and stay didn't appear to speak to the owner and just told us what they thought was true as they ended up asking them and there was indeed a cot available. General assistance from host and stay wasn't great (except from when they were following up payments).

GuestAirbnbAug 2024

We were a group of 10 staying for 4 nights. The house is in a great location, just a 10 minute walk down to the shops and restaurants in Whitby. A huge and elegant house with lots of bedrooms and bathrooms. Perfect for large groups. Great value considering the size and location. The host was very responsive to questions and we were sent a link to an app which had all the house details (from WiFi, to check in/out procedures). Very useful! However, a couple of things were a let down. Firstly, the house rules state that either a £25 fee or £250 deposit is required for damage protection. However, a week before check in they asked for £75 or £500! Even though AirBnB supported stated that they should honour the £25 fee, Host and Stay just ignored it! So BEWARE! Secondly, the bedroom on the top floor with the en-suite STINKS! Our youngest was staying in there and we had to move her out! It was terrible. Paint flaking off the wall! They need to sort that ASAP!

GuestAirbnbSep 2023

This is a fabulous property! The location is perfect and the views from the upstairs bedroom are fantastic. It is beautifully decorated throughout and the beds were very comfortable. We had loads of space for 12 guests and would definitely stay again. The property is only let down a little by the management company. Firstly despite the Airbnb listing stating that there is a cot and travel cot and the management company stating that a crib would be set up, there was none supplied. When we questioned this we were told that the company don’t supply cots. Luckily we were able to purchase a travel cot at Argos but it was an unexpected and unwelcome cost at the beginning of our holiday. Infuriatingly we later found a travel cot in one of the wardrobes! Secondly there was only one parking pass left out and it took until the morning after check in fir is to be rectified. Another unexpected and unwelcome cost for overnight parking.

GuestAirbnbJun 2023

We spent 3 nights in One Mulgrave Place and would highly recommend it. It is an exceptional property with 6 spacious double bedrooms, 4 with ensuite facilities - all to a very high standard. Very comfortable beds with high quality bedding and excellent ensuite facilities with lots of hot water. You'd be hard pushed to find better. Kitchen, dining room and lounge were all equally spacious and well equipped. It's in a great location in a quiet residential street but an easy walk into Whitby town centre. Good coffee shops, bars and cafes are only minutes away. We would recommend the Ditto cafe and the Arch & Abbey Bar. A great house to relax in and a pleasure to come back there after a day's walking. At the time we went (early June) there was plenty of on street parking available (permits needed). There was an initial mix-up over the parking permits but it was sorted by the Host the following day.

2 families , 11 adults and 2 dogs , we had a great stay here , house was a great size and the rooms and bathrooms were all very clean , lots of amenities left for us to use in the house , kitchen was very well equipped . House is in a great location very close to the beach , shops and places to eat . Would def stay here again . Host responded very quickly to any requests we had .

Beautiful house in an ideal location but outside seating area needed some tlc plus a tin of dog food has been left in a bucket and stank. Also ample fridge space however a tiny ice box instead of a freezer that wasn’t really suitable for storing anything but ice.

Interesting property, slightly quirky, very near the centre of Whitby, and close to plenty of restaurants and pubs. Accommodation spread over 5 floors. Very comfortable with good quality fittings. Attention was needed to some items that were broken or faulty when we arrived, but the agents are dealing with these, and gave quick feedback when issues were pointed out. We were six mature guys on a golf trip. The property suited us very well as we were able to have individual bedrooms, most of which had en-suites. Being close to the town centre, parking could be an issue in peak holiday season, but there is a permit system, and we managed 2 cars without any problems. Overall, we were very satisfied with the property and felt it good value for money

What a beautiful property, with fabulous furniture and furnishings. Well situated to be out of the main area but not too far away. This was a great base for our family as ut was dads 80th birthday. As this property is spread over 5 floors we put the younger fitter members at the top as there are lots of stairs. The only issue was a smell of the drains from all the en suites and the toll top bath situated in one of the rooms. Once this is sorted it will earn the 5 star rating. Would highly recommend this property.

The house was perfect for our visit - 11 family members between 6 and 80. Rooms were spacious and comfortable with interesting, sometimes quirky, furnishings, child-friendly too, a well-equipped kitchen and a huge dining table just right for an 80th birthday celebration. Extremely comfortable beds meant even Storm Boelo at its worst rattling some windows didn't bother us much. We loved the underfloor heating in some rooms and heating control was good throughout. It's a perfect house for a winter stay, but would be lovely in summer with the small outside corner with seating, and the front balcony looking out over the roofs towards the river and Abbey. (Our 6 and 9 year-olds still managed to do a little dance there!) Parking was as tricky as ever in Whitby, but the scratch cards were very useful enabling free parking - the only slight problem was dropping off and picking up luggage on arrival as the street in front was often completely full, but we managed. Position was perfect for shops, pubs and restaurants as well as walks down to the quayside and across the bridge. Information about the property, arrival and departure, was well communicated. A lovely stay!Sheila

GuestAirbnbOct 2026

The house was as described, large and roomy for a group of us using it as a base for local walking. It does have some damp issues in the room with a bath and in the kitchen under the cupboards where paint is peeling etc. but the beds were clean and the kitchen thoughtfully stocked with cookware, crockery etc. Beautiful view of the abbey from the top floor, but couldn't figure out how to turn off the emergency stair light which was very bright and meant disturbed sleep - bring eye masks if this bothers you. Beds were very comfortable and location was closed to town centre. Parking was a bit annoying, it gets so busy that you have not much choice to park in paid car parks but they were not too expensive (about £6 day).

SherwynBooking.comOct 2026

A lovely Whitby weekend with friends, home cooked meals and plenty of laughter. Positive: We stayed for a long weekend with close friends from church, and the house provided a lovely setting for spending time together. From laughter around the dinner table to the outside veranda, being able to prepare and share proper home cooked meals made the stay particularly special. Centrally located, we immersed ourselves into the town; from local museums, walking the cobble stoned streets and climbing the 199 steps to see the Abbey and attend morning service at St Mary’s. Our days were spent enjoying and exploring Whitby and returning to spend our evenings together, sharing food, conversation and plenty of laughter. Notably we truly enjoyed the complimentary parking for our car! That was the epitome of customer service and going the extra mile. A memorable break with good friends. Negative: The shower pressure was lower than we would have liked. The fridges were also warm when we arrived, so we had to wait for them to cool down before putting away the groceries we had bought. Having the fridges chilled before arrival would have made settling in easier.

GuestAirbnbOct 2026

Beautiful house in a perfect location and an amazing cafe underneath for breakfast Parking permits were exactly where they said so took stress away as streets are as you would expect very busy House was very clean and showers were very powerful More stairs inside than we realised but managed to work around for my 83 year old dad - I understand why aesthetically there is no hand rail from the front door to the 1st kitchen/dining room floor but it would help less able people on stairs - the only thing we felt it needed was more sofas if it was full with 12 people you would struggle for everyone to sit comfortably Overall beautiful place to stay and we would stay again but not with full occupancy

LynneBooking.comOct 2026

Negative: Stairs to bedrooms

HelenBooking.comSep 2026

Positive: Very central lovely large property for our group of 7 Negative: Very warm and couldn’t alter heating

KiraBooking.comAug 2026

Positive: The property itself was stunning the beds where super comfortable the best night sleep I’ve had in ages and the location was amazing right in the middle of everything. Negative: The thing we didn’t like was we wasn’t allowed early check in because the cleaners where in but the house wasn’t actually that clean their was dust built in numerous places, Grease splatters in the kitchen and rubbish left on the sides in the dining room. Also I would recommend maybe some bath mats for the tiled floor in the bathroom was so sloppy and maybe a handrail on the stairs as you first enter the property. Lastly I wasn’t impressed that we paid a £60 non-refundable deposit for damage fees and when we arrived there was numerous stuff already damaged. I don’t feel we should have to pay that or least get it refunded when we leave when their is already a lot of damages.

GuestAirbnbAug 2026

We had a brilliant weekend in Whitby. The house was in a perfect location, spacious and had everything we needed for our family. The communication with the host was very easy. The only downside was some of the cleanliness, the main one being the fridges which were incredibly smelly - we had to do a full clean of these before being able to use them, someone had clearly had a milk spill in there at some point. The outside bins were also already full on arrival and the dining room area was a tad messy so we did have to do a bit of cleaning ourself before the guests of honour arrived.

ruthBooking.comAug 2026

Really lovely property and fantastic location. Balcony nice touch. Property was filthy and not up to par with price. Not Positive: Beautiful property - so many rooms and very spacious. Negative: Very dirty, huge cobwebs everywhere in corners of rooms and externally on kitchen cupboard doors, it’s as if not regularly cleaned. Kitchen top and table not only sticky and not clean but so much so that you could see patches of sticky. The fridges smelt absolutely awful like rotten food. I had to go and buy cleaning spray to clean kitchen, fridges and dining table as kids / baby were staying in the house. Shutters in 1st floor bedroom all completely covered in thick white dust that I could see all over my hands. Not enough toilet roll in bathrooms. Would be handy to have keys for each room to externally lock - just a thought. Twin beds were not set up even tho I messaged to check weeks before arriving and was told they would be twins.

This is a great place to stay for large groups. Beautiful home with everything you could need. Lots of stairs but my daughter is disabled and still managed to get to 1st floor bedroom. Loads to do within walking distance with some fantastic bars and restaurants. We went on a little boat trip and had an amazing experience with some dolphins. Great trip from start to finish. Would recommend 👌

GuestAirbnbMay 2026

A lot of broken items on arrival, including lights not working and broken blinds (which caused issues with trying to get the rooms dark for the 2 babies we had with us). Mould spots on the walls around the feature bath in one of the bedrooms and peeling paint. It was a fantastic location with clear instructions from the host regarding bins etc, but the house felt a bit tired.

Lovely furnished holiday home, cosy and clean, beds were comfortable. All amenities good and a very well equipped kitchen. Only downside was as we stripped the bed before we checked out one of the pillows was heavy soiled, not really the nicest thing to see..

The house was perfect for our needs. It was clean and well maintained and very comfortable. Most bedrooms had ensuite facilities which we found extremely useful. The hosts were easy to contact and replied promptly if we had any queries. The location was superb being close to the town centre but not on a busy road. We were able to park near the property using parking permits supplied by the hosts. All in all it was very good value for money and we would highly recommend this property.

GuestAirbnbSep 2025

Great property in the centre of Whitby, the house felt even bigger and more spacious than the pictures on the listing. Parking was also easy with the supplied 4 day permits, plenty of spaces on the surrounding streets. 5 min walk to the harbour. The bedrooms are comfy with nice new, modern bathrooms. Can't really think of any bad points at all.

GuestAirbnbSep 2025

Amazing home, clean and comfy beds, well stocked kitchen, super warm (we turned the heating down!), wonderful en-suites. Little bit of damp in the main big bedroom, but it's an old house and wasn't detrimental to our stay at all. There was a big storm when we were in the house, and we all felt cosy, dry, warm and safe. Would come back!

Very comfortable, well appointed property. Positive: Location, number of rooms, it was well appointed. Negative: Lack of outdoor seating and that the twin was made into a double which was not asked for.

Great location, nice house that could be fabulous with a bit of TLC. Positive: Overall size of the house was great. Bedrooms were nice and most had en-suite facilities. Great location - very close to the town. Negative: There were areas of the house that weren't very clean, for example the (huge!) dining room table, the floors / carpets and the patio area that had rubbish left on it.

Great location and property. House well decorated, bedrooms lovely and comfortable. Close to restaurants, cafes and bars, parking is quite restricted even with parking scratch cards, but that's Whitby I believe. Great area for walking along the coast with fantastic views. Some issues with amenities, but the management team responded and addressed promptly. Would definitely recommend, however would also suggest to double check about amenities in the property against descriptions to avoid disappointment.

Very enjoyable Positive: The layout was great… very spacious & well designed Negative: Only problem was lack of parking. We weren’t given the right parking cards ( only 2 instead of 6 & not fir enough days) 2 more were dropped off next day instead of 4)

Wonderful Whitby One Mulgrave Place was everything we expected to be ~ absolutely beautiful property ~ however the stairs are worth a mention as there are a lot of them! Excellent location, parking was a little tricky ie having to unload the car in a rush whilst parked on double yellows and then having to look for a parking space which was a bit of a free for all! However we realise we were there over what was a very busy weekend with the regatta etc but the Red Arrows display was outstanding and proved to be the most spectacular way to spend our final evening. Many thanks for a wonderful stay!
