Prachtige omgeving!

Great place to stay. Avoid the agent arrangement. Positive: The cottage is excellent. A short 6 min drive from Bamburgh and perfect for my needs. I did meet the owner, who was most gracious and helpful. Facilities good, very clean and perfect for a single or couple as a base. Negative: Most regrettably the property is managed by an external agent. My communication with them was very poor. I received I think a total of 11 emails for this booking, which is at best very confusing. Then I had no email as promised for the access key code the day before staying. When I called the agent (the only number I had) to obtain the code, I was told it was my fault because I had not completed their form and paid a security deposit, of which I knew nothing. Yes, I subsequently found it mentioned buried in a booking.com sub section, but the emails did not easily make it clear or provide the form. The agents use a website for the welcome information on arrival, which without a mobile signal at the cottage you can’t access to get the internet code, which is in fact missing where the space for it is on the site….That resulted in three phone calls to the agent, with no solution, and I think 5 text messages to me (which of course you don’t get because there is no mobile signal…. ) I would not book any accommodation again which uses this agent arrangement. The cottage itself is great.

We returned to Rose Cottage because we had been very comfortable during our first visit two years ago, and it was good value for money. It is within easy drive of many local attractions and beauty spots. There is also a ‘secret’ bird hide less than half a mile’s walk up the lane. It is a cosy, dark, character cottage with very thick walls and very slow Wi-Fi. However, we again found it very comfortable, with good central heating, electric fire and plenty of hot water. As mentioned by others, the oil-fired heating boiler can be a bit smelly if you don’t remember to shut the internal door. The kitchen had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable. One thing I regretted was the change of bedroom curtains. The previous thick, blackout curtains have been swapped for flimsy ones that don’t block out the light. This is the only Airbnb where we’ve been asked to pay a deposit or a damage waiver after booking. It would be better to include this as an up-front cost at time of booking.

Lovely cottage, remote rural location, Positive: The cottage was a nice size and in a quiet rural location. It had everything we needed for the week we stayed there. Negative: Throughout our stay we had no mobile phone signal (both have EE), so for us there was a slight concern about being out of contact. The wifi signal was also intermittent. We found the galley kitchen quite compact - it was awkward getting things out of the oven as we had to lean over the oven door to do so - oven was against the wall and door opened into the room, not onto the wall. Also all the catering knives were very blunt and a hard to use safely The location was more remote than we had planned for with no accessible public transport, so we had to use the car more than anticipated - the weather was not great for walking/cycling which is what we had planned to do in the week we stayed there

JamesBooking.comAug 2024

Outstanding location, very helpful property manager (thank you, Sandra). Positive: Wonderfully off-grid down a minor road. Quiet, peaceful, and set in lovely countryside. Negative: My interactions with Host & Stay (not the owners/manager of the property) were less than inspiring, including a dispute over their wholly unreasonable demand for a £250 damage waiver (refundable) or a non-refundable £25 additional breakage insurance fee.

Fantastic break in a stunning location in a lovely cottage Positive: Well equipped very clean cottage. Very comfortable bed. Suggest removing the door between the kitchen and lounge as it’s tricky to manoeuvre around it. Shower head v high and we couldn’t free it up to move it down. Minor point as overall it’s a great cottage for the price. Bike store excellent. Discovered a beautiful walk straight out of the yard. Loved it

EleanorBooking.comApr 2024

We had a lovely stay in a quiet & cosy cottage in a beautiful area. We'd go again. Positive: Real bonus for us was the secure bike shed - we were in the area for a cycling event on the Sunday, and to be able to secure the bikes rather than keep them in the car was great. Negative: No complaints at all.

I stayed for 5 nights in this cozy cottage in Belford and absolutely loved it. It had everything I needed for a comfortable stay and was in a great location - close to Bamburgh, Holy Island, and lots of amazing historical sites and castles. It was the perfect base for exploring the area, and I couldn’t have asked for more. I’d definitely stay again!

Very suitable for touristing in the Northumberland area - and coming back to at night! Positive: Comfortable, ideal for 2. Definitely a rural setting but only a couple of miles from Bamburgh Castle. Easy to reach other parts of Northumberland. We roved from Berwick on Tweed down to Cragside. Negative: I would have liked a grab bar on the bath wall (older lady struggling with knees). We could not find any notes on the place (how to control central heating or turn the towel rail on). I did email a request for this information but did not receive a reply.

Positive: We loved how homely the cottage felt as we entered. Parking was easy and next to the accommodation. There was a patio with furniture to the side, but the prettiest part was on the front. Not much traffic bar the odd cyclist, dog walker, or friendly local postie The bath was excellent with a good hot water supply: situated in clean bathroom surroundings with toiletries and towels provided. Lots to do locally, including sea trips leaving from Seahouses which is about 8 miles away, Bamburgh castle is about the same distance away Having a washing machine and tumble dryer was a big bonus for our road trip. It's very easy to wind down here and admire the framed local photographs Negative: Nothing

Such a lovely, cozy and romantic cottage. Only 10 minute drive to the beach. Very quite and peaceful. It had everything we needed. The only suggestion, especially for the colder months, is to have some blankets as did get chilly in the evening. They do have a way of turning the heating up though which definitely helped. Other than that, we were very happy with our stay :)

Pleasant stay . A small patio or garden would have been nice Positive: Nice quiet location . Comfortable stay Negative: No garden . Only places to sit outside were behind the cottage and beside the cars of other people staying at the surrounding cottages. The bathroom seemed a bit damp - dark patches on the ceiling on on bath sealant . The cottage was quite dark .

UrsulaBooking.comAug 2026

Great cottage in a very quiet location. Easy to get to Bamburgh Positive: Nice cosy clean cottage. Well equipped. Good parking Negative: Nothing but was a little remote and also could do with some automatic lighting around the back of the cottage.

AirbnbAug 2026

Lovely cottage in quiet remote location. Glad we stocked up with food before we came. Place was quite dusty and could do with more mugs and crockery. A welcome pack would have been nice considering the location as not many supermarkets in surrounding villages.all instructions were clear especially to be out for 10am sharp or extra charge payable. Fair value for money. ..

BjornBooking.comJul 2026

Quiet rural cottage. Good base for Northumberland exploration Positive: It was really quiet and peaceful. Rural location. Kitchen was well stocked with stuff in case you, need to cook for yourself. Exceptionally clean and tidy. Comfortable bed. Allocated parking next to the accommodation. Easy, clear instructions how to get into property provided well ahead of arrival. Plenty of additional, and useful, information provided per email and QR code. Free Wi-Fi is fast and stable. Great base to visit places in Northumberland. Negative: No complaints.

ChristineBooking.comJul 2026

Cosy, comfy welcoming cottage Positive: A lovely little cottage with everything we needed. Very comfortable and cosy. We arrived in the rain and were very wet so the electric fire was much appreciated to get us warmed up. The bed was really comfy and everywhere was clean. It was good having an outside area to sit in during the lovely summer evening. The shower was powerful and hot. We needed to contact the hosts a couple of times and they responded very quickly. Thanks so much to the owners and cleaning team. We're already looking forward to going back. Negative: The only thing we wished we had was a fan as it got very hot when trying to sleep. If we stayed again we'd bring our own.

AnneBooking.comJul 2026

Positive: Rose Cottage is a lovely, cosy peaceful place to switch off and relax. Very comfortable, all comforts provided for, clean with a lovely quiet outside area to sit and enjoy the birdsong plus a short drive to Bamburgh. Negative: Can't think of anything I didn't like.

MarieBooking.comJun 2026

A lovely cottage ideal for a couple. Positive: It was cosy clean and well equipped. I had read reviews that are the opposite of this. But picking up on trivial points e.g the oven door on the wrong side. The important thing to remember is that it’s not home and you adapt. Negative: Would have liked some outdoor space to be able to sit but it didn’t spoil our stay

MERIELBooking.comJun 2026

Quiet and peaceful lovely cottage - every thing we needed for a great stay. Excellent location Positive: Clean and well maintained and more than we expected was left for us to use - tea towel , milk, toiletries etc etc

AirbnbJun 2026

We had a lovely stay at Rose Cottage. The apartment was clean, tidy and had everything we needed. The area was secluded and peaceful and full to the brim with wildlife. Not much passing traffic. It was perfect. We loved watching the swallows and martins flying around the houses and looking at the hares and deer on our evening walks. Bamburgh was just a 2.5 mile walk away. Would highly recommend and would happily return in the future. Thank you very much. My only suggestion is a warning sign about how quickly and hot the water comes out of the taps.

CommonsBooking.comJun 2026

Positive: Lovely cosy Cottage in a good location. Negative: The guttering leaks at the front door so when raining you get a bit wet.

MelvynBooking.comJun 2026

Northumberland. Positive: The location was excellent and suited our needs. Negative: Lack of central heating on a very cold, wet weekend.

RoisinBooking.comMay 2026

A bit stale and musty smelling. Very dark. Would have been acceptable if wasn’t for the price

AirbnbMay 2026

Rose Cottage was a great place to stay. It had all the facilities needed and more. It was private , well located and spotlessly clean. We were told we would need a car and we did but the A1 in one direction and Bamburgh the other direction both within easy reach and easy to find. The five days we spent at Rose Cottage were great and we went somewhere different each day. Charlie`s instructions were friendly and comprehensive, we could not fault him.

AirbnbApr 2026

Okay for what it is. Comfortable and relatively clean, but could do with a deeper clean all round as the corners and window areas are a bit grimy. Kitchen and bathroom are quite dated and could do with an upgrade. Had to re wash cups and cutlery before using. Bed was comfortable and clean and there was space enough in the room for our travel cot. WiFi was good. Location was great for going out for the day. It’s a short, easy drive to Bamburgh and not far to Alnwick, Lindisfarne and Seahouses, which we visited during our stay. I didn’t mind it overall but have stayed in better. If they upgraded the kitchen and bathroom, and made it feel a bit more homey, instead of very holiday let-y, I’d rate it higher.

DeniseBooking.comApr 2026

Positive: Well presented and immaculate Negative: Perhaps some feminine hygiene bags could be left, as products could not be flushed down toilet.

MAudioBooking.comApr 2026

Amazing place!!!! Positive: Absolutely loved our four-night stay at Rose Cottage! This charming bolthole is perfectly located for exploring the stunning Bamburgh coast. The interior is cozy, stylish, and impeccably clean, featuring a peaceful atmosphere and a very comfortable bed. Host & Stay provided excellent communication throughout. A truly five-star Northumberland escape Negative: We liked it all. The only thing is that the shower wasn't too great.

HarrietBooking.comMar 2026

Cosy, comfortable relaxing and quiet Positive: Location in great driving distance from everything. Great cosy vibes throughout, great kitchen and bathroom Negative: Not a thing

AirbnbNov 2025

Rose cottage was a lovely place to stay. It was very quiet and peaceful and only an 8 minute drive to Bamburgh. If you’re looking for a quiet secluded place to stay, then this is the place. It was tidy and mostly clean. A very comfortable place to stay. We felt the kitchen wasn’t the best place to cook in so went out for dinner every night. Just little niggles about how the oven door opened and the dials being confusing. We also felt like it needed a more thorough clean. There were cobwebs in many places and the carpet was dusty and had hair on it. However, this didn’t stop us enjoying our stay and we would stay again as long as it’s vacuumed more thoroughly!

KelvinBooking.comOct 2025

Positive: The (electric) fireplace was a very nice, and yes, cosy touch.

LynneBooking.comOct 2025

AirbnbMay 2025

Lovely little cottage, well placed for exploring Bamburgh, Lindisfarne, Alnwick, the Farne Islands & the Cheviots. Need a car though. Well equipped for self catering & very comfortable. As others have said it’s a tiny road to it, but with good visibility, I think we only met one other vehicle in a week, local, and knew exactly where to pass.

StevenBooking.comMar 2025

Lovely quiet location for a short break. Positive: Lovely quiet location. Narrow access road but this wasn’t a problem during our visit. Negative: Galley kitchen is cosy and the layout may not be for everyone with the cooker right at one end and the oven door opening the wrong way. Lack of oven gloves was an inconvenience and a dishwasher would be a nice touch.

If you like peace and quiet this is just right. Very cosy and well equipped. Comy bed. Be prepared for some very narrow lanes with few passing places - not a real problem, as virtually nothing passes!

AirbnbOct 2024

Rose cottage was everything we expected. It was quiet and very comfortable, warm and cosy given the weather was a bit dire at times! The kitchen was well equipped and as the weather was so bad we stayed in to eat quite most evenings which was easy to do. We enjoyed our stay very much.

EmmaBooking.comOct 2024

A lovely little piece of peace and quiet to explore from Positive: Really remote, very close to Bamburgh. Nice and clean, allocated parking. Little bottle of milk in the fridge when you got in was a nice little touch. They are very clear about the fact that the wifi is intermittent so it is worth preparing for that, however I did also have some phone signal so I was not completely isolated. Negative: Smell from the oil fired heating got everywhere. The agents sent a lot of info some of which contradicted info they had previously sent. Go through it all and make sure you're saying the same thing everywhere. The lane to get there from the A1 is narrow! The oven door opens the wrong way, it was awkward.

LynnBooking.comOct 2024

Positive: Very comfortable. Lots of hot water and efficient heating. Negative: No tv due to poor internet

CaroleBooking.comSep 2024

A nice quiet location Positive: The cottage was easy to find and was very peaceful. Close to Bamburgh and other places of interest. Comfortable bed. Negative: No instructions for the microwave. The sofa's weren't very comfy. Weren't able to connect to WiFi. TV was a frustrating watch due to constant buffering.

EmmaBooking.comJul 2024

Good location but not up to scratch. Don’t bother. Positive: The very quiet location close to Seahouses and Bamburgh. The living room and bedroom are comfortable. Negative: There is no WiFi, it’s not intermittent as it says in a poster on the wall it’s non existent. The shower didn’t work had to use the bath which wasn’t ideal after a day on the beach and to wash my hair. I emailed Host & Stay about both these issues on Friday night and again on Saturday as advised in the online guidebook. Side note I I had to walk down the lane to access 3G signal to access said guidebook and send emails.. Monday night now and we’re home and they’ve yet to reply. Ironically I have had loads of emails from them reminding me how much they’ll charge for any damages… very frustrating! The kitchen and bathroom are very dated and there’s a musty damp smell throughout cottage . The boiler was on constantly for some reason we could not fathom and very loud and hot! It is July! Not very environmentally friendly either.

RodericBooking.comJul 2024

Northumberland wax great. Positive: Location Negative: No wifi. Limited shelving in the bedroom.

HelenBooking.comJul 2024

SusanBooking.comJul 2024
AirbnbJul 2024

A comfortable little cottage (detached, on one floor) in a well-kept group of 6 down narrow lanes between Belford and Bamburgh. Very comfortable bed and sofas, good sized living space, pleasant outdoor area with seats and coffee table, a decent shower and overall reasonably well equipped. The only real negative was the oil boiler, in a lobby between the kitchen and bathroom - after the house had been shut up for the day it would smell of oil. Ventilation above the boiler would be a good idea. Some of the information needs updating, e.g. non-existent dishwasher (not that we would use it) and it isn't completely clear that the washing machine is in a shared outhouse. The location is excellent for exploring north Northumberland, with about a mile of narrow road to negotiate but otherwise close to the A1 and the coast. The bird hide is worth a look - walk along the road towards Bamburgh for two fields then turn left just before the wood and head to what looks like a shed.

It is set in a really quiet area, but in close proximity to the coast for going out and about. I had a lovely trip to the Farne Islands while I was there. I would highly recommend Rose Cottage to any for a long or short break.

It’s a lovely spot to get away. You’ll need a car to get to most places but your ten minutes from most villages / towns to visit, and there are walks you can do from the cottage too. Fantastic place, definitely recommend :D

Positive: Home from Home. A truly quiet and relaxing place. Well worth a repeat visit. Sandra Evans was just outstanding and a great hostess

HelenBooking.comOct 2023

Cosy cottage Positive: .Despite reading some negative comments we found it to be a really cosy cottage. The bed was extremely comfy, the heating worked well and the kitchen was well equipped. The area was so peaceful. There are several cottages with a courtyard around the back for parking, although the cottage only had a front door.. Negative: . There wasn't much to dislike, apart from only one entrance /exit door and the laundry and dishwasher facilities are across the courtyard in a separate outbuilding. Not a problem for us as we were only having a short break. One item to mention is that there is a step down into the kitchen which may be a problem for the disabled.

JacquiBooking.comOct 2023

Beautiful little cottage that was very clean and perfect for our 4 night stay Positive: The location was beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Cute little cottage with a bath that was blissful each night! Negative: As much as I searched I could not find the washing machine, dryer or dish washer in the kitchen!! It is a small galley kitchen, but it appears across the way out the back courtyard there is a laundry room. I did not look, but I am assuming there is not a dishwasher there as I cannot see anyone going out the front door of the property onto the street and around the back with their dishes for the dishwasher!! You need to amend your description of the property accordingly, because they are certainly not in the small galley kitchen. Otherwise the cottage was perfect and we would stay again.

tonyBooking.comOct 2023

pleasent cottage in a lovely area. however trip was spoiled by Host and Stay's policy. Positive: the cottage was nice and comfortable. it was clean. Negative: we booked through host and stay, which will will never do again. having to pay a deposit incase of damages of £250 before we could access the property is insulting. we have used booking.com since it's 1st inception, and have never been asked to pay a damage deposit ever. and that is through hundreds of trips home and abroad. a added insult was that Host and Stay also charge a non returnable £10 admistration fee to process the £250 deposit. also Host and Stay has our money for 10 days in total.

MarionBooking.comSep 2023

Misleading, disappointing, no WiFi. Positive: The bed and cleanliness and it was warm enough. Negative: Very seriously spoilt our holidaysthat we were told on booking .com that there was free Internet everywhere. There was none.We rang twice.Staff very friendly but none of the advice works. And in the vestibule of this property ,it states "intermittent WiFi, due to rural location". We were exhausted and needed Internet spent several hours trying to get it to work.Gave up. Awful problem for us. Other than that there were no storage cupboards. The interior had been changed to the photos and was unpleasant to me . The woodburner in the photo had a woodbasket plus fire irons in photograph and not a sign of white electric wire. It had no woodbasket ,no fire irons, ugly white cable and dreadful artificial flowers. Felt so cheated.Settees trapped nerves in my back.

AirbnbSep 2023

Cosy cottage, extremely comfy bed, clean linen and plenty of fluffy towels. Decor a bit dark and could do with brightening up a tad. Problems with the lights on arrival, bulb had blown in the ceiling light and wall light switch didn't work. Two lamps in the living room weren't enough so it was a bit gloomy. Only one tea towel for the whole week, and kitchen could have been equipped a little better. Frying pan was burnt on the bottom, and saucepans were dirty. Cottage was otherwise very clean, but lots of cobwebs. Location was lovely and quiet, very peaceful and not far from Bamburgh. We enjoyed our stay, but a bit pricey for what we got.
