Excellent short break to celebrate a significant birthday with family Positive: Good location, plenty of room, good parking.

GuestAirbnbAug 2025

Beautiful house and garden. Ideal for the kids to run around. Some great walking/running routes. 10 min walk to near by beaches. Nice local pub.

Perfect holiday home for a family reunion Positive: Loved the big beautiful garden and that it feels like a home (eg all the kitchen things you could need, board games in the cupboard etc). Loads of space for everyone. Quick walk to the beach and perfect for exploring that part of the coast (Alnwick Castle/Gardens, Bamburgh, boat trips to the Farne Islands from Seahouses) Negative: Two of the upstairs bedrooms (the two rooms pictured with a king and a single) are joined so that you have to walk through one to get to the other. Wasn’t a problem for us as there was basically one room spare but could be for more people

A lovely family holiday in Northumbria Positive: Location was just what we needed - very close to Low Newton by the Sea, and the amazing beach. Within easy reach of Bamburgh, Seahouses, Craster & Alnwick. Lovely big house, with great facilities for a family. Great kitchen, decent internet. 3 showers are really useful. Negative: Some of the interior furnishings were a little tired, and likewise, done if the outdoor wooden furniture was similarly tired and potentially dangerous. The downstairs bedroom was quite cold and felt a little damp, but I do realise it is one of the original parts of the building. In contrast, the upstairs bedrooms were very warm.

Lovely house with amazing views. Great garden for children to play in and brilliant beaches only a short walk away.

Our party of 9 (+ 1 dog) had a great time staying here for a long weekend, the location is perfect, close to beautiful beaches and countryside, with other places to visit nearby. Great local pubs within walking distance. The cottage is spacious and was spotlessly clean with a homely feel. The only slight problem we had was that two of the upstairs bedrooms have very low ceilings, which caused a few bumped heads for our tall family! However this was a minor issue in an otherwise enjoyable stay.

Beautiful large house which easily accommodated the 7 of us whilst still giving us plenty of space. Indeed, we only used the lounge once as the kitchen-diner was so comfortable. The house is well furnished and has lots of pictures, ornaments etc that make it feel like a home rather than a hotel room. A large garden which the children and dog loved. Two nearby pub/restaurants are well worth visiting, with Seahouses only a few minutes up the road.

Family holiday for 10 so having 2 lounges helped greatly. 2 under bench fridges was just enough room for our food & drink (it was 3 days over New Year.) Unfortunately for us the small bench freezer in the laundry room couldn’t house our frozen food so we kept it outside in a cool box. We were never cold in the cottage and hot water was plentiful. Relaxing & comfortable is how I would describe this holiday home.

We had a very enjoyable stay. Plenty of room for nine of us plus a baby and a big safe garden for the children to play in. Having three bathrooms was useful. Good beaches in close proximity and two pubs within walking distance.

Positive: Great location, clean with good facilities Negative: The heating didn’t come on automatically in the morning

Loved this property so much, so comfortable and homely Positive: Beautiful property, loved the mix of old and new. So much space, lovely rooms and huge beautiful garden. Loved the sea view. Great for family get- together. Great location and not far from the beach.

Utterly gorgeous property in an idyllic location. The photos don’t do the cottage justice (cottage is also stretching it because it’s huge!) Everything was cosy and spotless, with everything clearly thought about. Great lighting, really kitted out kitchen, lovely linens. The garden is stunning and having sea views (and two beaches in close walking distance) was really special.

We stayed here as a group of 10 with 3 dogs and had a fantastic stay. The property was spacious enough for everyone and really well suited to a large group. There are great walks on both beaches, which the dogs absolutely loved. There are also a couple of good pubs within walking distance, and one nearby even does takeaway if you fancy a night off from cooking. The house had everything we needed and was a great base for exploring the area. We would definitely recommend it and would happily stay again.

The only downside to this property is that one of the double bedrooms is accessed via another double bedroom. Both of these rooms have restricted head height not suitable for anyone over 6 foot. The garden is brilliant for families and dogs. The property is only a short walk from the beach.

Happy holidays Positive: We all had a wonderful holiday. The house was much better than the pictures. It was comfortable, spacious and had a lovely feeling. The garden was great, especially for children and our dog , all enclosed and large. We liked the summer house at the top of the garden . We could look out across the fields to the sea. From the house you can walk to several beautiful beaches and two great pubs If you want to go drive and go further there are many places within a short drive. Parking for all our cars on the drive was helpful too. Negative: The garden furniture really needs replacing. Many chairs were broken and not safe to sit on. The bedroom curtains are very thin and don't keep the light out.

Great cottage, enjoyed our stay and brilliant communication!

Amazing cottage, location and break. Positive: Amazing property, cottage definitely a misnomer! Garden was huge and perfect to enjoy the sun with the fully enclosed garden allowing us to relax knowing the dogs were safe. Rooms and beds were comfortable, and well stocked kitchen. Added bonus of the beach literally an 8 minute walk away. Negative: Nothing, would highly recommend.

JamesBooking.comJul 2026

Great place for a family getaway Positive: We thought that the cottage was bigger than expected and a great place for a family gathering. The rooms and the garden were large and in excellent condition. In addition to being very clean it was exceptionally well equipped. The location was ideal bein about 150 metres from the village pub and less than a mile to the beach. Highly recommended. Negative: In our view there was nothing not to like.

GuestAirbnbJul 2026

The property is large enough to cater family gatherings. Within a few minutes walk there is a decent gastro pub Within a 20minute walk you are down on the beach. There is a decent amount of off road parking and well equipped kitchen. The property is furnished to a decent standard with plenty of beds and bathrooms. Would highly recommend

Positive: The setting, the garden and the accommodation. Negative: Curtains need thicker linings as people were unable to sleep and awake at 4 am with the sun. Sheets as well as duvets would have helped with the warm nights.

Lovely cottage in perfect location. Positive: The cottage was amazing. Large 5 bedroom cottage with amazing huge garden and summerhouse. On arriving on Friday was welcomed by the local Peacock in the garden ( unexpected Bonus). All rooms are nice and comfortable with period old furniture. The kitchen is well specified with all the crockery and utensils you could ever need. The garden was amazing, lovely mature flowers, trees and shrubs with a summerhouse in the bottom corner. Lots of wooden furniture in the garden There is loads of space for parking cars, we had 3 but you could probably fit 5 at a push. The location is superb in a very quiet area and only 10 mins from the beach and just a few mins from local pub. Negative: We did find that the downstairs bedroom felt a little chilly and felt damp but there was an electric heater and humidifier in the room that sorted this issue. Also one of the upstairs bedrooms had a water tank that could create some noise when a tap was run. Lots of wooden furniture in garden although the furniture ( plus sheds and summerhouse) could do with a coat of wood treatment. All the above just really minor points and must be expected to be issues of a cottage of this age. Only real complaint was the constant stream of emails from the management company ( Host & Stay ). giving me the upsell treatment or reminding he of my responsibilities (re check out time and damage ). They need to learn less is more.

This is a great house. Spacious accommodation for a family or friends get together, and garden especially lovely. Our third stay here. Plenty of easy parking at the door. The House is well equipped for visitors. Stove easy to light on an evening. Plenty of lovely sofas to relax. Clean and hot showers, good towels. Comfortable beds. Walkable to local pubs which are all friendly and cosy. Easy to drive to Seahouses, Bamburgh, Alnmouth. Walked from Craster back to Newton. Walked to Beadnell from the house. Lovely little circular walk to the sea each morning/ evening, good for a swim too! We had a great stay. Many thanks.

Newton Cottage is a lovely place to stay just a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 2 minute walk to the nearest pub.The house is a good size with a good social area around an open fire( they have coal but no wood)one bedroom downstairs and 2/3 bedrooms upstairs(one bedroom(with a low roof)leads into another bedroom…two bathrooms upstairs / one downstairs(all with showers one with a bath)but the ace is the private back garden which is a sun trap and I can imagine a fantastic area to socialise(with a sun house as well)with good weather and a view you just cannot buy , there is also room to park 5 cars outside so a great place for 2 or 3 families to stay in a lovely part of the country

Positive: location and accommodation

GuestAirbnbAug 2025

House & Location were lovely and everything we wanted for our break. However, Host & Stay were quick to try upsell extensions and additional extras, but very slow to deal with payment/confirmation of said extension - this left us uncertain about whether we had secured an extension until only a few days prior to arrival. Obviously we cannot fault the property, but felt that Host & Stay could improve their customer service pipeline in order to put guests at ease in a timely fashion.

This is a lovely large cottage, well furnished, with high quality bathrooms and a decent kitchen. The house is set in a well maintained garden, including a summer house. There are sea views from some of the bedrooms, and you can hear the sea from the garden. A 10 minute walk from the house brings you to a great little cove called Football Hole, a sandy beach backed by sandunes, with rockpools at either side of the cove. We had it entirely to ourselves most evenings. Also, a 10 minute walk to Low Newton-by-the-Sea, with great views down the coast and a decent pub.

Great location, easy walk to beach. Good pub very close. Spacious, well equipped house with a relaxed comfortable feel.
