The area

Mumbles Cottage is located in the centre of Whitby, just a one minute walk from Skinner Street. With restaurants, shops, a delicatessen, bakery and much more on your doorstep, you can enjoy everything Whitby has to offer, then retreat back to Mumbles Cottage to enjoy the peace and quiet.

The cottage is located on the West side of the seaside town making it perfect for reveling in nostalgic seaside charm - head to the arcades or explore the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts.

Venture over the swing bridge and you’ll reach the East bank. This side of Whitby is full of narrow, medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.

Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.

Whitby train station is a ten minute walk from the cottage so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.

There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.

“Great location for a few days in Whitby as able to walk to all of the main attractions. Getting to the parking spaces was quite tight but manageable. Host was very responsive to any queries we had”

“Upon arrival in the town the instructions and the app were very useful and clear to find the rear parking at the property. Parking was one of the reasons I chose this property as I didn’t want the hassle. The property was actually better than the photos. Everything was there ready for your stay, even milk in the fridge. There was washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and even washing tabs which is something I regularly forget. The property comfortably suited 6 adults. A few mins walk in either direction to the town or nearest shop. Lovely gravel garden with seating to enjoy the sun between trips.”
