We booked this retreat to detox from the city life and it didn’t disappoint one bit.
The house is big and has a very interesting character to it . It feel like you’re outdoor while being indoor because of the design of the house .
The surroundings are breathtaking, you’re surrounded by deep wood/forrest with little to no distractions in the area.
It’s a perfect place to create lasting memories
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would definitely recommend.
Great place, very peaceful
The good: Fab location/view. Really large accommodation. Lovely wooden features. Nice patio areaComfy bedsGood hot showersThe bad: There are not three bathroom/showers as we were led to believe. Two bathrooms and a downstairs WC. This caused issues when we first arrived as people had to stare when weren’t expecting to. Charged 20 the day after we departed. When we asked why, they said it was a late check out charge; we challenged this and then they said it was a booking fee. I have tried to find out where it stated that before we booked but to no luck. Annoying that we get charged this after the trip. No dressing table/long length mirror in master bedroom for someone to get ready in front of. Couple of cracked glasses were in the kitchen unit. Bulb in main bedroom didn’t work so we changed it with another. Side lamps in master bedroom didn’t work either. One did intermittently but didn’t stay on so was quite dark in there. House smelled of damp every time you entered. Clothes still smell of it. Overall disappointing especially the AI style communication.
Great value for money but ultimately it’s in the middle of nowhere with no shops close by. Other than that the WiFi kept dropping in and out and the signal on the tv kept shutting off. Wasn’t to bad for us as we didn’t spend much time there but if you are going for a break Mabe these bits might effect you more.
The house was very clean and is in a beautiful location but sits literally on the side of a busy road so quite a lot of traffic noise. Map/postcode details sent us a mile away from the house on a small road surrounded by fields. We had to drive into Milltown and luckily one of the locals was able to give us directions. When you eventually find the property, accessing the driveway from the north is extremely tricky. There a lot of steps up to the house which isn't mentioned - challenging for the old or very small children. Getting in the house was easy ( mostly because the key was in the lock). There are amenities which are not mentioned. So there is a TV, WiFi, dishwasher, cafetiere. En-suite bathroom is spacious and bed comfortable once you're in but the tree trunk stuck to the sides caused a few bruised shins. Stairs to top floor have no rails or risers so dangerous for small children. No backdoor key so worrying in case of fire as effectively only one exit. Overall, disappointing.
Our stay was a very mixed experience! Overall the house was as described, great location and spotlessly clean. However we had a few issues which spoiled the stay:
- Very damp smell throughout the whole house. We had to wash everything once home (even clean unpacked clothes), as it smelt so much of damp. I can't get the smell out of my brand new travel cot.
- Ignore the Google maps pin they give you which is the "exact location". It took us to the middle of nowhere! When I called they provided another incorrect Google pin. Just use the main address, which was correct in the first place! (Why complicate things?!)
- We were bitten by something on the carpet or furniture.
- The driveway was incredibly steep & scary to drive down! You must enter from one direction. Also, my parents struggled with the three flights of steep steps up to the property, especially with no hand rail. This should be listed.
- Mobile signal is not "patchy", it's non-existant. The WiFi didn't work in some rooms.
had an enjoyable time however be aware of 3 flights of stairs to access property and very close to main road.
I needed a break from the city and was glad this was the place I chose. It had more room then i was expecting while still be quaint. I had all the utilities on hand and only needed to buy food in, glad I didn't have to go get a full shop of things I wouldn't use. Nothing beats sitting outside in the morning with breakfast surrounded by nature. Definity going back.
