Apartment was in a Central location, very easy to find. At the side of a pub, so quite noisy at times, but not overly so, plus noise from other guests above and below us. We did have an issue navigating the narrow, windy staircase with all our bags and a small dog, so would be a no-no if you had mobility issues. The apartment was very modern, clean and central, with toiletries, hairdryer, tea, coffee, washer and dishwasher, so all in all it great.

Great location as it’s right in the centre, dog friendly Positive: We liked a lot of things, comfy bed, lovely shower, clean and tidy, location. Lovely and fresh on the stair well, obviously it’s had a a new lick of paint, we have stayed here twice now and would book again, love the fact it’s dog friendly but you wouldn’t know (no smells or dog hair) Negative: The heating would only turn it up by 1 degrees every half hour ! in April we felt cold at night when we came back to chill and watch tv, and definitely a basic microwave would have been useful as most places have these now, also but maybe say this has to be cleaned after use…… 💯 a grab rail in the shower as there is nothing to hold on to whatsoever when showering (safety reasons) other than that we had no complaints.

Host & Stay a nightmare to deal with Positive: Nothing never went after seeing reviews of mainly noisy, not clean, main door not secure & used by big groups, probably stags & hen do’s Negative: Never went as seen bad reviews, thought I was booking through booking.com which have had no problems, then it was passed to host & stay unknown to us, horrible to deal with & cancel, still waiting on my refund of £50 3 weeks on,lost £68.40, be aware of damage waivers after booking, defo for stags & hen groups, avoid the noise & give host & stay a miss
More issues than anything Positive: I liked the room itself - the design and decorations were just lovely. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was lovely. Negative: Didn’t like the fact the room obviously hadn’t been cleaned before us, there was a wee stain on the carpet in the lounge (which stunk the room up when we first entered), glasses with lipstick/lip marks on them, there was what looked like either mould or bird poo on the chair in the lounge infront of the tv, which all got covered in my partners new pair of jeans he bought for the trip, we were given a permit to park which we used and then got a penalty regardless so clearly they didn’t work, we requested for another permit on the day of arrival and didn’t receive one, the website also states wifi is accessible, there wasn’t any wifi, we’ve had to drain our data and not watch tv.

Great apartment in the centre of Whitby Positive: No complaints at all about this apartment. Check in process was well communicated and really easy. The apartment was clean and comfortable with everything you could need for your stay. It could not be more centrally located, it is right next to the Golden Lion Bar so we were expecting some noise at night but this wasn’t the case. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again when we next visit Whitby
Absolutely a gem of a place Professionalism from host frost start to finish. Always in contact through messaging Arrived and self checking in no problems. The little quaint apartment overlooking the harbour was beautiful. You see what you get in the photos. Immaculately clean and spacious. We only stayed 1 night but could have stayed the week it had a washer dishwasher everything you could ask for. Clean fluffy towels I will definitely be back thank you for a wonderful stay x
Great location, lovely comfortable stay! Positive: Fantastic location and really great to have a parking permit. Comfortable and everything needed for a weekend break. Coffee, tea, sugar and milk on arrival. Negative: Noise from local pubs quite loud on a weekend and the windows aren’t sound proof. Also noise from above and below flats on occasions as well. Stairs bend round so not ideal if mobility is limited.
Positive: Excellent location, easy to pop back in the day if needed. Lovely view. Very clean and comfortable. Great to have little extras like hot drinks, washing liquid and shower gel to make life easier. Negative: Exceptionally noisy children from the upstairs guests, racing around and squealing from 6am. Not the fault of the host!
Perfect Location Positive: Absolutely brilliant location. Nice apartment for a couple. Good value for money. Good communication from the host. Despite the forewarning from the host about noise from Seagulls and the pub next door, we did not experience any disruption. Had all the facilities that we required during our stay; kettle, iron, hairdryer, WiFi, television. Although, not used, we thought the inclusion of a perking permit was a great idea! We would definitely stay again! Negative: As warned by the host, the staircase leading up to the apartments is not ideal for people with limited mobility. 'Spiral' staircase, with no real bannister to speak of in some parts. The accommodation was presented well, though, as noted in other customer reviews, perhaps not to the highest standards of cleanliness.
Perfect location. Good value for money Positive: It was a lovely little apartment just perfect for the two of us and our 2 dogs. It was in the centre so perfect to go exploring. Although it was central, the noise wasn’t an issue at all. We were able to park literally one minute walk away in a W zone as passes were left so that was handy. Bed was super comfy and had everything we needed. Fridge was good size and kitchen was clean. Little bathroom goodies were available and some sachets of tea/coffee/sugar/milk which was a nice little touch.
Lovely place within everything you need within a minutes walk, great place will definitely stay again, there was a couple of things that put a dampener on checking out. But on the hole I would recommend this place.
A great place to stay for a few nights in Whitby. Location is very central to all the sights and scenes. Cosy little apartment that does exactly what you need it to do. Great for couples!

Negative: It didn't look as though it has been cleaned, sofa full of dog hair, we hoovered up and wiped the sides down ourselves as soon as we got in.. think they just provided fresh bedding and towels Floor boards very thin, could hear upstairs movements morning and night

Positive: The apartment has all you need and is in the .most fantastic location. Some stairs to climb but not an issue for us. The seagulls wake you up early but to be expected. Couldn't fault the apartment or facilities. Negative: It's advertised as having parking and when you look into it that's just a parking permit which is great if it's quite but you've no hope parking near the apartment when busy and we visited in August so we had to park a bit away and pay £23, in total for 2 days parking.
Positive: Great location Negative: Very dusty in areas. Other than that it was OK. Was going to book again but prices have gone up over a hundred pounds. Really not worth that kind of money 😒

Stayed as a couple for 2 nights and the location was perfect. Right in the centre close to everything. Inside was clean and included everything you could need for a few nights. As it is so centrally located parking can be challenging and there is noise in the morning. However, for me it was still worth it for the view and location
We really enjoyed our stay in Whitby! The accommodation was gorgeous and was really easy to settle into and made a great home base for our town adventures! The parking pass provided in the room made our nightmare of trying to find parking a lot easier! Definitely get to Whitby before check-in to try and find a spot - the W parking zones have a 2 hour return so you can check in and put the scratch pass in before it runs out! We would definitely stay here again but we think next time, we'll get the train in!

Positive: Location is fantastic, bang in the centre of whitby. The property was very clean and newly decorated with everything you could possibly need for a break away. Very comfortable bed, even a dishwasher. Negative: The only problem was parking due to location, but overall a very clean and comfortable stay.

This is a lovely apartment - such a shame that it’s grubby Positive: The communication was spot on, easy to follow information provided for parking, locating the building and access to it and the apartment. The building is in a fab spot in the centre of town. Clean bedding and towels, a tea towel, dishwasher tablets and a dishcloth provided. Shower gel and hand soap provided in the bathroom. Also tea, coffee, sugar and milk provided. The water pressure in the shower is great but the shower head needs descaling. Negative: The main door is tatty and dirty and the staircase smells damp and musty. The apartment looks nice but it hasn’t been properly cleaned for a long time. Thick dust evident everywhere - on skirting boards (I cleaned the skirtings and floor in the bathroom for my own comfort - and found the wooden block support under the toilet pan!!) including dust and dog hairs on the sofa, and cobwebs on the bedroom and bathroom ceilings. The rug in the living area is matted and grubby. The water pressure in the shower is great but the shower head needs descaling. The windows were dirty although someone has had a go at cleaning the outsides of them from the inside, so only partially cleaned - is there a local window cleaner that could be employed to make the most of a good view? Unfortunately the view from the bedrooms windows leaves little to be desired but out of the control of the owners. The apartment would be really lovely after a thorough deep clean.

Negative: I cooked a bacon sandwich with the extractor on and the windows open and the numerous smoke alarms went off. This happened in the apartment below as well last time so I think the smoke alarms in these appointments are too close to the cooke.. I had to hold the frying pan under the extractor as my husband ran around flapping a towel at the smoke detectors
Keeping it lemon Positive: Great location and easy to find. Nice chill spot near the sea and places to eat and drink. Would go again. Negative: Could have done with a deeper clean as dust was in the corner of the lamp and windows covered in poop on the out side. It was really awkward to get in through the front door.
Positive: Location was great 👍 Negative: It was setup for a couple but only one dinner plate and one fork and one teaspoon. We booked it for 6 nights One loo roll and no oven tray for grilling. We also had no washing up liquid or washing machine powder 🤔 so we had to go buy some things Sofa needed a good clean...but we had a good time. Parking was hard to find like everywhere. Staircase is very narrow and tight so pack light.
Great weekend and for second time would stay again Positive: My wife and I arrived in Whitby at about 14.00 and could check in at 16.00 via door code and key code box number supplied. We had stayed here before about 4 years previous so was aware of great location opposite the swing bridge., and close to train station and bus station. The Flat was number 2 and was clean comfortable and warm, with tea coffee facilities and easy accessible WIFI. There are no shower shampoos / gels supplied but we took our own. Also no micro-wave which could affect some guests but not ourselves. We also only had one tea spoon but again no problem to ourselves and I'm sure the proprietor's would have sorted if reported. No television in the bedroom but again we were out most of the time so the one in the lounge was acceptable. We booked again through previous experience of a short weekend break and booked again for this three night stay Friday - Monday. Would definitely book again. Negative: No complaints but as above in mentioned

Disappointing Positive: The position Negative: Two adults staying. One dinner plate, 2 bowls one of which was cracked, 2 mugs one of which was cracked where you drink from. Peeling paint in the lounge. One hand towel with a hole in it, dirty cutlery with food remnants.

Lovely place - kinda spoilt by the regime Positive: Location and the apartment itself were great. Literally slap bang in the centre of where you'd want to be. Negative: Had to drive round the one way system twice before realising that we couldn't actually get to the address itself, by Car. A very short walk, but this needs to be made clear, before arrival, as you have to leave your car in a parking zone, with no ticket, to collect your pass from the address. Take your own milk, tea-bags etc as there was literally one sachet of milk and tea in the kitchen. Very strict on arrival and leaving times, expecting you to pay extra for any leeway on those times. Out by 10am on a Sunday morning, plus the ticket provided for the car also ran out at 10am! Felt a bit like cattle, to be honest. A pity, as the place itself was lovely. Message to the owners; Remember - the people staying are on holiday!
Excellent location nicely decorated Positive: Well located at the side of the golden lion Irish pub. Well equipped with everything you need for your stay. Nice decor and bathroom has quality fittings. Negative: Could have been cleaner. Skirtings boards need a deep clean. Wiped everything down soon as we got there. Dust on shelves and plug sockets. Noise from flat above excessive. Not properties fault but one to note. Parking is within w zone. Pack light impossible to load and unload nearby. Marks on carpet from previous guest. Dog hairs remained from previous guests. Battery to remote need changing!

the place itself was very nice. lovely apartment to rent in a very good location. the only downside was the 4pm check in and having to leave by 10am , this made the stay feel rushed and had to carry our bags around until 4pm . host was very responsive in messages and place was very nice

Good location, nice cosy apartment, but could provide more for guests. Positive: Good location, well furnished, good cooker, comfortable. Negative: Very little provided, when we got there there weren’t even any coat hangers so when I messaged them about this is just got a bot replying telling me that although they know it’s important, they don’t provide them. Had to go and buy some (and left them there so hopefully the next folks that stay wont have that problem 😂). Also not thoroughly cleaned as there was muck and dust under the sofas and the boxes in the bedroom.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & would use Golden Lion again when staying in Whitby. Positive: Fantastic location, handy for everthing. Whilst the apartment is quite small it's very well planned with a comfy king size bed and great shower in the bathroom. We didn't use the kitchen (only the kettle) but it's sleek & modern. Negative: Wi Fi not great but we spoke to some locals & it appears to be quite common in Whitby. Could do with a microwave.
This apartment is really lovely, so close to the swing bridge, everything is walkable and a lovely view from the living room windows. However, the noise from the upstairs neighbours was dreadful, lots of banging, loud shouting, arguing etc… was kept awake until well after midnight then it started again at 06.00, really put a downer on what was a lovely and well needed stay in Whitby.

Perfect positioning in the heart of whitby, apartment comfortable and clean,bed comfortable but pillows alittle hard for me, parking was a nightmare W zone is a distance away from the apartment so if you have plenty baggage it can be a nightmare , we had difficulties with the cooker, very high tech had to Google instructions we figured out the basics eventually ,a simple microwave on top would of been much easier than spending time on how to work the oven

Positive: Location was great. Handy for the town Negative: Didn't sleep, left after one night. Impossible to sleep due to the unbelievably noise of the seagulls. Triple/quadruple glazing needed. Also interior door strips have the wrong screws in them and are sitting proud. This could result in an injury to your feet. Crockery was chipped and cracked and mugs were dirty on arrival. No oven dishes to use the oven. Also the macerator in the room above was noisy for half an hour everytime it was flushed which was irritating through the night.

Landlord , human or AI? We arrived to find the door to the unit open, the key in the open lock box. Inside it seemed like the cleaners stopped half through, we had no toilet paper, one clean towel and concern about the security.Repeated requests to the landlord resulted in “ we are looking into it” and never had a resolution after a 3 night stay
great location , good that parking permit was available , would definately stay again Negative: very mixed up arrangements to get into apartment was sent 2 codes one for outside door and another for apartment keysafe . Outside door either doesn't have or doesn't work with a code so very confusing . luckily a guest came out of the door and informed us that the front door was not locked at all . this might seem picky as overall the apartment was very good but the bedroom and bathroom skirting boards were covered in thick dust which TBF is the only thing that let it down .

Given this is a front door in the middle of Whitby I though this important from a security point of view. I raised this on the day of arrival with the host via a message and despite exchanging further messages and sending photos, this had not been resolved when we left 4 days later.

Cancelled 3 hours before our stay…. Positive: Our stay was cancelled 3 hours before we were due to arrive - we were on the motorway when we got the call. The reason for the cancellation kept changing - the staff at ‘Host and Stay’ seemed to have no idea what was happening - told us they would call back within 10 minutes with an alternative then didn’t call back at all. That morning (around 2 hours before they cancelled), we had increasing pressure to pay a partially refundable ‘security deposit’ of £250 and now… it will take them up to 3 WEEKS to refund our money. Disgusting.. AVOID!

Don’t bother with host and stay properties gives Whitby bad name Positive: Location Negative: Windows were dirty spoiling the view Underfloor heating in living room not working despite contacting them about it ( I’d read previous comments ) they assured me it was working. It wasn’t. Heated towel rail not working in bathroom and very dusty Laminate coming up in bathroom Bed mattress worn both sides with hump in the middle and quilt too small for king size bed No where near enough kitchen equipment Alexa didn’t work No microwave Iced up freezer One loo roll Shower was freezing despite basin tap being hot One key for apartment Biggest issue was the front door to the building on leaving we couldn’t get out as the ancient Yale lock had stuck on locked. We rang the local host and stay number out of hours but were put through to a call centre in Asia !! who couldn’t understand.our issue. We were put on hold then cut off. Rang several times only to get an automated response saying lines were busy this was at 8.30am on the morning. There is only one exit door to the property and it was stuck on locked. If there had been a fire we would have all died. After an hour my husband managed to jimmy open the door with a knife. No help from the supposed local emergency number. Contacted host and stay several times asking for a full refund. They apologised and said they hoped our experience would be better next time !! There won’t be a next time. Host and stay ?? More like can’t be bothered and bog off
Over all we were impressed to how modern it was and local amenities on our door step . Positive: Very good location and modern and comfortable. Negative: No microwave for easy food making. The oven door wasn’t clean properly dried food left on it . The toothpaste holder wasn’t cleaned . Could do with the room been warmer.

Almost great but in the end we will never use Host and Stay again - potential customers need to be aware of the lack of Positive: Property was almost superb however - see below Negative: we had 3 complaints - 1 the reason we chose this venue was for WiFi (this is very important to us). The WiFi wasn’t working and this was reported on our arrival, (the WiFi didn’t show up on our devices therefore we guessed that it wasn’t switched on and I couldn’t find the hub to do this). We were assured a team member would come to the apartment and deal with this and the other two issues - this never happened despite over 20 emails back and forth - disgraceful to not have this dealt with as promised 2 the fridge was broken and noisy - it still worked but internal parts were missing so storage was limited, the compressor was noisy and distracting 3 a stain on the skirting on both sides of the toilet pan - either faeces or a painting issue - I wasn’t about to investigate and wanted this looked at by the host What really annoyed me was the use of generic emails to apologise, nothing felt personal, and we felt that the company were happy to take our money, promise to fix the problems and run They have since offered £27.50 as compensation and 20% off our next stay
Great central location, keeps you fit climbing the stairs! Positive: Very central! Clean, amazing shower and the bed was so comfortable! Negative: Wi-fi did not work so we could not watch Netflix etc (weather was awful when we were there so stayed in two nights!) ….wanted to download a new book on my kindle but couldn’t do that either! Didn’t matter that much but would have been good. A microwave would be a welcome addition too as well as a dishcloth to hand wash dishes.
