Located in the picturesque village of Wall in Hexham, Maggie’s is a beautiful one bedroom cottage with plenty of charm. The perfect retreat for couples, this stylish holiday home has everything you could need for a quiet getaway.

About this property

Maggie’s has a bright open plan living, kitchen and dining area. With a sandstone inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove, it’s the perfect spot to cosy up and unwind. Relax on the blue velvet sofa and turn on the flat screen TV to enjoy a quiet evening in. Shaker in style, the light grey kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could need to prepare meals easily. The dining area features a rustic style round dining table and two matching chairs.

Head to the bedroom and you’ll find a comfortable king size bed with premium bed linens. Pops of colour are added with the soft furnishings and there is a spacious en suite shower room with a large walk in shower, WC and basin.

There is a lush green garden with outdoor furniture where you can enjoy al fresco dining and morning coffees. There is also a lockable outhouse which has space for bike storage, walking boots etc.

The area

Maggie’s is located in the village of Wall in the high uplands of Northumberland. If you’re looking for a relaxing retreat in the countryside, this is the ideal place. Steeped in history, the village takes its name from the nearby Hadrian’s Wall which runs close to the Northumberland National Park.

Wall is also close to the charming town of Hexham which was voted England’s favourite market town by Country Life magazine. With great shopping facilities, local inns, restaurants and a buzzing arts scene, there will be plenty for you to discover. If you’re interested in history, head to Hexham Abbey which dates back to 674. For those who want a fun day out, Hexham has its own racecourse where you can enjoy the races and incredible views of the rolling countryside too.

The nearby town of Hexham is roughly a 10 minute drive from the cottage. Hexham has plenty of bus routes including trips to Newcastle and the Metro Centre. There is a bus stop in Wall which travels through to Hexham so you can get there easily.

The nearest train station is Hexham which has routes from Newcastle, Carlisle and Sunderland.

“This was the perfect place to stay for a break near to Hadrian’s Wall. The property was impeccable and exactly as described, with some lovely welcoming touches and useful books about the area. Pub with quality bar food in easy walking distance. The village is quiet and charming, close to Chesters Fort and a short drive to Vindolanda. You can also catch trains to Newcastle or Carlisle from Hexham, Corbridge or Haltwhistle. I would thoroughly recommend Maggies to anyone wanting a great place to stay while exploring the area.”

“Maggie’s was a lovely, clean, well equipped venue for a few days break for 2 near Hexham and Hadrian’s wall. It’s in a quiet village with one restaurant but a few miles from Hexham with lots of shops and facilities. Comfortable large bed. Good shower and bathroom. Pleasant, tastefully decorated, kitchen/living room. Smart TV so one can watch favourite shows after a day’s walking. Wood burning stove worked very well on a chilly evening. Hosts live on site; friendly and unobtrusive. Nice welcome pack. Dedicated parking space. Perfect base for exploring the beautiful area and historic landscape. WiFi tends to drop out in bedroom and key safe inside solid front door in porch. Will be going again.”
