Good base for exploring Alnwick and area. Positive: Location good for visiting Alnwick and surrounding places of interest. Useful welcome tray , milk and cold drink. Towels and bed linen clean. Plenty of space for two people. Parking outside. Negative: Property was dark inside. Sofa and bed both dipped so we didn't find them very comfortable. Some kitchen items need replacing.

We had a really wonderful weekend in the Lower Lodge - it's such a perfect base for exploring Alnwick and the coast. The kitchen is really well appointed; the shower is excellent (water pressure and temp); and the bedroom and lounge are really comfortable. It is a beautiful space - so quiet and peaceful - and easily walkable into Alnwick (past Barter Books!). Also - for exploring further - it's really easy to get to the M1 and up the coast. Really easy communication with the hosts as well. We arrived to a lovely tray of tea, hot chocolate, and a box of 'Canadian Maple Syrup' granola bars (we are Canadians), which was a sweet touch (and fueled our hikes on the weekend!). There's also lots of information about the area in the flat, which was really helpful as we'd not been to Alnwick before.

Positive: The location and surroundings Negative: Damp, not clean, not comfortable. I cannot believe it has passed any inspections.

Positive: The location was great for getting into Alnwick and travelling to the Northumberland coast. The garden to the rear of the property was quiet and a little suntrap. Negative: It was very dated and in need of a lot of modernising. The furniture was old and a bit worn and had an old smell.

Positive: Good location and comfortable stay, nice welcome pack.

Positive: The outside area was very pretty and older worldy. Negative: The steps inside. Rather dark due to plants. Pretty in its way but dull inside.

A great charming little cottage - very comfortable. Positive: Location was great for travelling around the area. Easy walk into Alnwick for pubs, cafes, restaurants, shops etc. Well equipped cottage. Negative: The entrance to the property was on a blind bend which made it difficult to pull out from. Have suggested a mirror opposite driveway would help.

It was lovely stay - good location and cute little apartment. Positive: The cottage was lovely and the flowers and biscuits left on arrival were a really nice touch! Getting the keys was really easy, the lockbox was easy to find and easy to access.

Have no problems at the property good pub nearby would with good food lovely walks with the dog friendly place Positive: Good location felt relaxing Negative: Quite dusty not good for allergies

Lovely base to explore Positive: Lovely, spacious & private property. Warm & clean. Stocked with thoughtful items for guests. Excellent TV & wi-fi signals. Negative: Found it a bit tricky to park when arriving in dark & rain but was ok in daylight!

Dyrt til prisen. Forventningerne højere. Positive: Stedet og haven. Negative: Jeg tømte hver dag en affugter for ca. en liter vand. Selv om der var centralvarme var det ikke tilsluttet. Dermed var især badeværelse og stue fugtige og kolde.Ejeren mente det var en følelse der ikke var reel. Der var elpejs som kørte hele ugen på trods af pæne temperaturer alle 11 dage

Stay in Alnwick Positive: Roomy property with convenient parking. Comfortable bed and nice lounge with decent TV and WiFi. Negative: Shower powerful but temperature kept changing.

Good location with just a short walk into Alnwick centre. Easy access to Northumberland coastline. Good cooking facilities, and lots of space in all the rooms but some of the furniture wasn’t the most comfortable. Host left some nice welcome gifts including milk, sparkling elderflower drink and cereal bars which was appreciated.

A disappointing stay unfortunately. The place has the potential to be fantastic; its not too far from Alnwick town centre (although it is probably a car journey for most, rather than a walk), great parking, big supermarkets nearby and the gardens and overall look of the property from the outside is fantastic. Unfortunately the inside is very damp - smell and feel - and looks dated and does not reflect the published promotional photos which show a much larger and lighter interior and much cleaner bathroom.

Very comfortable, clean and convenient for our short visit to Alnwick. The hosts provided everything we needed. Lower Lodge is very private and quiet - with the bedroom located at the back of the property there was no road noise at all. Alnwick town centre and amenities are a short walk away. Overall a great base for exploring the local area or for relaxing in peace, would happily recommend.

We had a lovely 3 night stay at Lower Lodge this August. Charming, well equipped apartment in beautiful grounds. Short walk into Alnwick. Great support and communication at all times ☺️

Lower Lodge: No place I am going to return to. Positive: * location: quiet, yet well connected since bus stops are only a few metres away * clean/crisp linen and towels * two beautifully arranged flower bouquets * well equipped welcome tray, milk and elderflower drink in the fridge, toiletries * the garden (although not used due to the temperatures in the evenings) * washing maschine, dryer, fridge, very large freezer, WiFi, two TVs * good communication and immediate responses by the company Host & Stay Negative: * I opened the door and was hit by the darkness of the rooms (photos seem to be brightened) and a musty/mouldy smell (especially the armchairs and the couch in the living room, but also the flooring in general). After two days I got kind of used to the smell, but still it was not comfortable. * The bathroom could do with a renovation, everything worked, but the ventilation was very loud and looked like there haven‘t been changed a filter for a very long time. * Fridge and freezer very clean and well working, but also impressively loud. * Due to the green surroundings quite a lot of spider (to be expected), but the amount of cobwebs left for obviously quite some time, was appalling (I‘m really not very fine with spiders.). After having booked Lower Lodge in January I hadn‘t checked the comments again. Mistake! They were quite drastic. Also the comments and evaluations refer to two different Lodges (Upper and Lower Lodge). The Upper Lodge seems to be OK, according to the evaluations, but the Lower Lodge is not. But the combination these two different lodges leads to a higher score, at least for the Lower Lodge. I was gracious for the flowers though…

Needs updating , new carpets .. and attention to fusty , mouldy smell Positive: Location Negative: Terrible smell of damp and mould though out .. left 2 days early as to smelly , dated, depressing , dark and dank .

Didn't reach the standard we were expecting Positive: Good location! Provision of milk etc on arrival. Lovely roses. Negative: The shower was almost impossible to control - either cold water or dangerously hot. Crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils were poor. Bed wasn't comfortable with a duvet which was too narrow for the bed.

Excellent exterior and kindly left milk, snacks etc in generous hospitality package. Also excellent location to explore Alnwick.

A beautiful and relaxing long weekend away. Positive: An excellent location for exploring Alnwick and Northumberland. The apartment was lovely and quiet, away from the main road. The facilities and the welcome pack (water, sparkling water, milk, a large verity of tea and coffee) made it very easy to settle in straight away. Also off-road parking was a bonus.

Lovely location but property really needs updating Positive: Location was perfect Negative: Property is dated and would benefit from redecoration

Lower Lodge Summerhill Alnwick Positive: Location was a good base. Grounds were pretty. Owners were lovely , the cottage had everything required for self containment. Negative: The bed was extremely uncomfortable for us, it was too firm , we couldn't stay the 3 days , good sleep matters , we left a day early. Cottage was an old ie stone building but finish ie carpets decor & furnishings were poorly fitted , wall paper joints were overlapped , tiling in bathroom had cement all over ie amateur DIY. Settee base would sink in middle, when you sat for any time. Kitchen was very tired ie ill fitting units & doors poorly covered . Our home is 5* so going on a break should at least equal your comfort.

The house was lovely and had everything that I needed. It was in a lovely location, able to walk to the town to go to the shops and pubs.

Excellent, comfortable base for beautiful Alnwick Positive: The property was in a great location to explore Alnwick and beyond. It was warm, cosy and homely. Plenty of hot water and comfy bed. Nice touches such as teabags and milk left. Would stay again. Negative: The property isn’t the most modern in terms of appliances and furnishings- we didn’t mind that however as it was lovely and homely.

Hidden fee warning! Host and stay make you pay a £25 damage waiver after booking and as the bookings are non refundable you have to pay - never experienced anything like this on airbnb, hence the low rating. Place was nice enough, decent location. However, you will have people in the rooms directly above you. The building is reasonably old so if they are being noisy and you are trying to sleep (as we experienced) it can be a bit tough going.
