Glad it was only 3 nights. We are both 70plus, and our 43 year old son had a heart attack just 6 weeks before. The steps Positive: Clean and tidy. 5 minute walk into town centre, but still quiet. Negative: The 36 steps up to the front door , followed by 3 flights of stairs to the living room. No place to hang things in the bathroom, or even a shelf. No wardrobes, just clothes rails and not many drawers. NO storage at all in the kitchen. All our food was piled up on top of the microwave. Only 4 dining chairs for 5 of us and not enough comfy seating for 5 in the living area. Parking space was a nightmare to get in and out of. A large vehicle has no chance. The living room window looks straight across into another property, so does not feel private.

An enjoyable stay. Positive: The property was perfect for a holiday and the location was good being very near all the shops, Cafes, takeaways, station, bus station, and park. Negative: The only drawback was the number of steps to the property. After walking round the town I found it difficult to get up all the steps as did one of the party who has CP and finds it challenging. The car parking space was smaller than the car.

Great place and excellent location Positive: Location perfect for exploring Whitby It is set out so well with everything you need well appointed with nice touches. Loved the decor and perfect for our family. Negative: Nothing was perfect.

Great location with only a short walk to restaurants and shops. The property was easy to find and good to have free parking provided (the only issue was had having a larger car was getting into the small parking space had to reverse up and then climb out of the passengers side). The house itself was clean and tidy through out and perfect for a family of 5. Would definitely stay here again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Would definitely stay there again Positive: Booked on behalf of my father and his friend and children. He said "I'd definitely stay there again." Plenty of space, clean, well equipped and really comfortable, and very central. The management company were really good at keeping in touch to see if there were any problems (there weren't). Negative: All good!

Very pleasant stay and would make a return visit. Positive: Property was nice and modern and high end. Located close to town. Bedrooms and living area were modern and worm and decorated to an high standard. Negative: Stairs to climb, to get to the property and stairs in the property. Parking area a little tight if all the cars were in place. This was not a problem for us on our stay as not all cars in the spaces.

Lovely time, beautiful house, close to all the action Positive: Beautifully decorated and layed out, incredibly clean and perfect for a group of 5 to socialise. Super close to all the action in Whitby but still out of the way enough.

I would not choose to stay with host and stay again and I would not recommend them either. Positive: Location Negative: Cleanliness was very poor .there was a wet patch on downstairs bed and bedding which we tried to get resolved but still in dealings with host and stay about our complaint. Food cupboards still had previous vendors items in. Used and dirty tissues left in bedside drawer. Not enough hand towels left for three guests. Had to hoover the whole house just after arriving due to dust and cobwebs in numerous places. Some crockery was still dirty and glasses had food bits stuck to them. Absolutely no room at all to store our own food stuffs that we had bought with us. Kitchen cupboard space was non existent! .We contacted host and stay about wet patch on bed so we ended up putting sheets in dryer so we could use bed that night, they were suppose to be coming next day to change all bed linen and leave extra hand towels as requested but it looks like they had only changed quilt cover and had not even left us the extra towel requested. Too many stairs up to the property.and the parking space was difficult to get in and out of so we didn’t use the car in the end as we used the buses.communication between us and host and stay was poor and we have raised our complaint with them about all the issues but it is still ongoing and has not been resolved yet. It is now 1 month after our stay and we are no nearer to an apology or the situation being resolved. I would not choose host and stay again as we felt we were just left to deal with all the issues ourselves.

Lovely stay but, the property needs some attention. Positive: Great location Negative: The property could definitely do with some TLC. A good clean and a lick of paint. Could go with towel rails in the bathrooms as there is nowhere to hang your towels. It definitely needs a grab rail over the bath, unfortunately one of our guests slipped and fell when getting out of the shower. Would also be a good idea to warn guests how tight the parking is!

A clean, light and airy property over three floors ideal for traveling with friends. Positive: The property is near the railway station, a coop and the harbour. Also close to Tourist Information and many cafe/restaurants. It was very clean and well equipped.ideal for families or a group of friends. Negative: The two double rooms were very comfortable, the single beds mattress was uncomfortable, we will let the host know so they can consider changing it. We were not expecting so many steps up to the property’s front door, two of our party have mobility issues so the many steps made it difficult (approximately 20 to get to the front door). The bathrooms have no hooks or anywhere to store toiletries or clothes, sharing the space with others made this a little difficult.

Nice accommodation with the town on your doorstep. Positive: Very good location only about 4 minutes walk to the train & bus station. Free car parking was a bonus. There are a lot of steps from the car space up to the property (about 35) then a further 30+ stairs once inside up to the lounge / dining area on the top floor. We were fine with this but it’s worth knowing in advance! Nice views from the upper floors across to the Abbey. Kitchen is lacking much storage space for food and although there are plenty of plates, pans, cutlery etc, there is a shortage of glassware (might be worth taking your own wine / beer glasses). The seating area is comfortable and we were all happy with the bedrooms. Plenty of positives about this accommodation and very handy for walking around Whitby. Negative: Only one key provided in lockbox so we got another cut and left this when we left for other visitors to use. Lack of glasses (see above). There is a nice outside space but no furniture to make it usable. Some inexpensive plastic chairs and a table would do the job.

Another fantastic stay in a wonderful cottage with an excellent location we'll happily keep coming back. Positive: We've now stayed at this cottage on a number of occasions and have always had a great experience. The location is absolutely brilliant and is one of the main reasons we keep returning. The cottage is comfortable, well-equipped and has everything we need for a relaxing stay. It's always been clean, welcoming and feels like a home away from home. Negative: There wasn't anything significant to dislike during our stay. Like any property, there are a few minor signs of wear and tear, but nothing that affected our visit or enjoyment.

We had a brilliant experience at the property ideal location as straight into the harbour within 2 minutes for shopping Positive: Location, accommodation and facilities Negative: There were no towel rails or hooks in bathroom doors, a lot of steps to the accommodation if you had any health issues!

Positive: Location was really good..didnt expect that many steps leading to apartment but didnt bother us. Negative: Parking was a little tight ..wasnt really sure if we parked in right area either but as all other accomodations werent full it didnt really matter. had to park our other car in a different location which wasnt a problem either

Comfy place. Positive: Comfy, well situated. Well decorated. Negative: Heating wasnt on when we got there, on a very cold day. Also water pressure wasnt good enough to have a hot shower, or for hot water in kitchen sink.

What a gem. Positive: Everything about Lightkeepers cottage. Cleanliness. Location. Very spacious. Communication with host and stay was 100%. Very informative.

Great cottege and location Positive: The cottege was clean and tidy, the layout worked well for us with 1 bedroom and shower room on ground floor, 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom on first floor. Hot showers, good facilities with a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and coffee maker. Comfy settees and dining table which accommodated us all. Views of the Abbey from the window at the top of the stairs is lovely, and balcony was also nice addition. Some beds were comfy, adequate space to put your belongings away. Great location a short walk from the town centre, co-op at the bottom of the hill for essentials. Negative: No where to hang towels in the bathrooms, no storage for items or cup holder for toothbrush etc. The mattress didn't fit the base to the bed on ground floor, as it was too small and was very soft. Nowhere to store cupboard items in the kitchen. Needed a few more dish washing tabs, views into other people's cotteges a little intrusive, but good blinds on windows.

Good location; clean; well appointed

This was a lovely property in an ideal location. However, do be aware of the stairs. It's on a hill with 38 steps up and is then a 3 storey property. The house was gorgeous. The property is really comfortable and it made our stay a great one. Local amenities are really handy and Whitby is a fabulous place to stay. As hosts, you were really responsive and helpful. All in all a terrific stay that was enjoyed by our whole party.

Comfortable but cold . Negative: Electronic brochure wouldn't download properly so couldn't use it. Central heating not easily used. Lack of hooks for towels in bathroom and bedrooms. Otherwise , good .

Positive: The property was lovely. Very well presented in a good location. However, the single bedroom was not fit for purpose. The blind was broken and the mattress was lumpy and soft. You responded well to my notification about the blind. Unfortunately my friend had to sleep on the sofa for the second night after suffering back pain from the single bed. It was good to have a parking space but it was extremely difficult to manoeuvre my medium sized car into it.

Perfect location for a weekend in Whitby. Positive: Great location, beautifully decorated. Was fairly clean. Had coffee, sugar and toilet rolls. You don’t always get that. Negative: Parking is extremely tight, was a struggle to get in and out off our allocated space. If you have trouble walking, this place isn’t for you, there are a fair few steps, both inside and leading up to the property. Could have done with more storage, as there wasn’t anywhere to store cupboard bits, and nowhere to put your used towels in the bathroom.

Lush views and wonderful location what a way to spend a few days in this beautiful coastal town Positive: The location was superb and the property was stunning Negative: We came in 2 cars and there was only one allocated parking spot but there was easy accessible parking up the road, a minor inconvenience

Stayed for 2 nights so difficult to rate properly. Location is close to the centre, an easy walk. Property is three-storey with kitchen/lounge on the top floor. Modern property with all you need for a stay-cay. Check in 4pm - would’ve liked earlier. Check out 10am, would’ve like later. Being picky: Dusty lampshades, damp (?) patches in lower ground bathroom. Rear neighbours lighting bonfires Saturday morning which smoked the place out. £200 per night felt a little excessive though comparable throughout Whitby. I think £150 per night more acceptable. Would I stay again? Maybe.

Pleasant accommodation, frustrating check in process and customer service. Negative: Don't agree with damage waiver process. Didn't receive message to inform me of requirement for damage waiver until I had to chase management to provide address and check in process for accommodation. After making payment for the damage waiver I still wasn't provided address and check in details and had to chase management for these details whilst already in the town, pulled over in a lay by.

Nice property but need warning of steps Positive: It was a lovely place to stay. Negative: Definitely not for someone who struggles with mobility due to steps up to the property. Would not have booked if I had known about the amount of steps. Not clear in description of property. There needs to be a warning. Also the parking is very tight. We actually damaged the boot on our car.

Bathrooms need painting as walls badly marked.

After being let down by the previous property we’d booked we came across this one on booking.com. It didn’t disappoint. Positive: The property was immaculate. Very clean and tidy. Excellent location. Couldn’t fault it. Would definitely stay here again

The Lightkeepers Cottage Positive: The location was very convenient. It was a clean and well laid out property. Negative: No parking as the allocated space was occupied all weekend by a silver truck.

Lovely stay Positive: lovely place have stayed before clean and close to centre , beds comfortable everything we needed Negative: we had to park at West Cliff carpark which was a challenge as very busy hard to get a space anywhere as after driving past twice there was another car in the parking bay , it did leave later but was back again.. aside from knocking on every door there wasn’t much we could do I guess some people are just inconsiderate.

Good location, clean but do need to bring your own toilteries. Positive: The key collection was very easy. The location was great. the rooms were generally clean. Negative: The link that was sent as a part of the welcome suggested the check out time was as 12pm. The email said 10am. Not sure which one was right at the time of leaving. Bit annoying to be honest. How can someone leave at 10am?. The cleaners were there by 10:15am. May i suggest keep the information consistent throughout. The toilets had no toilteries i.e. no handwash in any of the bathrooms. It would be good if they at least provided that or say that in the description so we could have got our own.

Very nice but could be so much better. Little touches go a long way. Positive: The house is very nice. Nowhere to hang towels to dry. Negative: Not even a welcome tea bag. No soap in bathroom. I think I’m used to super hosts.

Positive: sehr zentral gelegen, Haus ist sehr schön Negative: der Parkplatz ist eine Katastrophe. wir haben nur einen kleinen Golf und hatten arge Probleme in den Parkplatz zu kommen. Der Abfluss beider Duschen kam mit der Wassermenge nicht klar. mir scheint dass es ein Problem mit der Kanalisation gibt. Man musste die Dusche zwischenzeitlich aus machen damit das Wasser ablief. Die Toilette hatte das gleiche Problem.

no great Positive: location was great Negative: it was called a cottage but it was a new build the parking space was virtually inaccessible unless you drove a smart car the steps to the property were steep I don’t like upside down houses general access to the car park was terrible the bin storage was floor to ceiling nags and doesn’t appear to have been emptied in some time

Positive: Location was good. Two bathrooms - both clean (powerful showers). Free parking space. Good selection of utilities & facilities. Negative: Cleanliness - the house needs a deep clean. The oven hob was dirty & greasy. There were bits from previous tenants found under the sofa & clothes hanger. Rubbish situation - of the 2 allocated rubbish collection rooms - 1 was locked & the other was overflowing. The refuse collectors did not clear on 2 occasions during our stay, despite arriving to do so, thereby leaving a health hazard & stench of a smell during temperatures of 30+ degrees. Location of parking space - on a steep hill, sandwiched between 2 walls and another parking space. Emergency access was prohibited (as seen when an ambulance could not gain access during our stay).

Excellent Positive: I enjoyed the location, comfort and cleanliness of cottage Negative: There was nothing really I didn’t like. Only thing was trouble with post code and it didn’t get us to the location but we found it by chance in the end after having to ring hosts.

Excellent quality 👌 Positive: Near the center but also quite at night, you could only here the seagulls. The cottage was tidy, nicely decorated and furnished.
