Great location to visit NYMR Positive: Well equipped , spacious property with comfortable beds and spacious modern bathrooms Location superb , very close to town centre , supermarkets and NYMR railway Ideal for 2 couples each with own space & bathroom with complimentary toiletries Negative: Parking space was for only 1 vehicle - this wasn’t clear in description and we came in 2 cars so had to find alternative parking for 5 days. A common misunderstanding according to the upstairs neighbour who asked us to move one car from his parking space. Description said 1 double bedroom and 1 extra large double however one bedroom had twin beds which we weren’t expecting as 2 couples! TV’s didn’t have the normal Freeview channels as stated so couldn’t watch BBC etc without logging into apps, only Samsung free channels Compared to other cottages where we have stayed found it a bit impersonal, no welcome pack which we usually receive and only online information packs & t&c’s and text messages reminding us when to vacate by. Our fault that we didn’t read the small print advising the additional £25 damage waiver wasn’t optional However, overall the superb location and facilities outweighed the above niggles which could easily be rectified by updating the property description.

Positive: A very comfortable cottage in good location. High standard of fixtures and fittings and well equiped. The free toiletries very useful and good quality and nice towels. Good size rooms theougjout and comfortable beds . Accommodation suited 2 couples perfectly. Great communication. Negative: Could do with a lamp by dressing table in main double-bedded room. Parking limited to one space but 24hr parking is available nearby at sensible cost

Central location Positive: Very handy to be near the centre also parking was a bonus. Very spacious and everything you need, good it was all on the same level. Negative: There was no secure garden to let the dog out without being on a lead. No heating in one of the bathrooms (the one without a bath)

Brilliant space to stay while we were working in North Yorkshire. A lovely little town and brilliant space to kick back and relax. Hosts were so helpful with our many questions I couldnt recommend more

This is a great place to stay in Pickering and explore all the activities around the North York Moors, whether it's the Heritage railway to Whitby, walking on the moors, visiting ruined abbeys, or more! The property is well-suited for four, with two bedrooms, which are quite separate, each having its own bathroom. The kitchen is huge and has a separate dining area too if you plan to eat in.

Spotlessly clean and well equipped except for one chipped large plate. Convenient location. Interior lovely. Liked the environmental 'green' emphasis at the cottage. Negative comments: noisy in front bedroom from traffic noise starting at approx 4.30am so sleep poor. Key pad inoperable initially - two of the code numbers would not press - we think the key behind was preventing the numbers from being pressed. Took five attempts to get the key pad to work. Back door is warped and does not close properly. Heating would not work. Hot water only tepid. There was also a smell from drains in the back bedroom. These are comments to improve the stay experience of future guests. Overall, good value for money.

Positive: it was a very comfy warm house with great local shops and restaurants. Negative: Parking for larger vehicles is extremely difficult. But we did manage

Positive: Nice layout and design, decor has been thought out, you have everything you need to hand. Overall very nice property with original features. Parking was a bonus to have around the back. Negative: Shower in the bathroom in the bedroom at the front of the property needs attention, shower head needs fixing sprays water everywhere and so does the bathroom sink tap. Could just do with bits of decor touching up here and there but this is usual wear over time.

Great location Positive: The location was perfect. Negative: A shortage of drinks glasses. No large glasses only one gin glass. TV was a little complicated to work and didn’t work in the bedrooms

Very much enjoyed location of apartment and facilities Positive: Made our own breakfast Negative: The water tap in the bathroom, without a bath, dribbled water but water was cold. The thermostat valve in the other bedroom was stuck at zero degrees and needs replacing.

A cosy cottage in a great location. Positive: A lovely cosy, spacious and well decorated cottage in perfect location. Everything was within easy walking distance - we didn’t need to use the car at all whilst we were there. There is designated off road parking, which meant we didn’t need to worry about finding a parking space. It was great for either a family or two couples as both bedrooms had their own bathroom. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed - there was even a dishwasher and washing machine. The owners were easy to contact and very responsive. We’ve already booked to stay again! Negative: There was a little road noise in the living area and front bedroom but it didn’t really bother us too much and was quieter over night. The radiator in the twin bedroom didn’t seem to heat up with the rest of the radiators. It wasn’t an issue while we were there but may need checking before winter. A few of the plates and mugs were chipped, but I reported these to the owners, so hopefully will be replaced.

This cottage suited our family dynamic with both bedrooms having en-suites. The kitchen was very wel Positive: Perfect location in centre of town. The renovations to the cottage were of a high standard, especially the bathrooms & kitchen. Negative: We couldn’t find instructions for the heating system…not a big issue for us as we only had one cool day.

Great base for exploring the area Positive: Location - walking distance to town centre, shops, NYMR and places to eat Size - all rooms very spacious. Great bathrooms - powerful showers and plenty of hot water. Dog friendly Heating available for slightly cooler nights. Plenty of ev charges in the town. Able to put car on chatge in car park across the road from cottage. Negative: One of single bed matresses probably needs replacing.. One of baking trays in kitchen needs tgrowing away as non stick coating perli g away. Would have liked some large drinking glasses.

Negative: Unfortunately, we were disappointed with our stay and do not feel the accommodation currently meets the high standards advertised. The Wi-Fi was extremely poor, with TVs constantly buffering or unable to connect. You couldn’t use the Wi-Fi on your phones if wanting to watch TV. The single mattress was uncomfortable and badly dipped, the front door handle was falling off, and the carpets were heavily stained in bedroom. The biggest concern was the bathrooms, where there was a noticeable smell of mould, visible mould and moisture damage causing peeling wallpaper, and a heavily dust-clogged extractor fan. The bathrooms would benefit from proper cleaning, sealing, redecoration and improved ventilation. The living room seating was uncomfortable with two hard chairs and an old sofa. Although the kitchen was described as fully stocked, it felt only basically equipped and lacked a variety of glasses. It would for the price be nice to have unwatered down liquid soap and kitchen roll. The advertised outside space also appeared to be little more than a bin area and was not somewhere inviting to sit or relax. The property requires attention and maintenance to justify being advertised as luxury or high-quality accommodation. We gave the owner the opportunity to respond before leaving a review but are still waiting a reply. Based on our experience, we would currently find it difficult to recommend this property to others.

We loved our stay! The property was very comfortable and had everything we needed for a great trip. The host was wonderfully responsive and provided excellent local recommendations. Highly recommend!

AVOID staying at a host and stay property - if Iris cottage was not run by them it would be fab Positive: The cottage itself was lovely. Ideal for two couples. In a great location. The property was however not at all clean. Negative: The cottage was not at all clean despite cleaning fee paid. Host and stay contacted immediately and where beyond TERRIBLE. After having to clean the property myself they have taken 2 months to respond - just saying investigating. I would not stay at a host and stay property again. Please note host and stay are an appalling company but this is no reflection of iris cottage which I would recommend.

Lovely, modernised cottage in a great location, but some attention needed. Positive: Great, central location. Two double, en-suite rooms. Modernised. Lovely, well equipped kitchen. Spacious. Parking. Negative: None of the beds were particularly comfortable, but the mattress on one bed had collapsed and was not fit to sleep on. The living area would be better with the settee and two comfortable armchairs instead of the huge footstool and two uncomfortable chairs. Both showers needed attention. The water pressure in one bedroom en-suite sink tap was almost non existent. There was a damp smell at times.

A perfect place to stay for exploring the area Positive: The location and facilities in the property

Overall, we had a pleasant stay at this cottage. It's in a great location, within a 2-minute walk of Lidl and the village centre, and is ideally situated for exploring the area—around 30–40 minutes from Whitby and Scarborough, while also being close enough for a day trip to York. We stayed as two adults and an infant, and found the cottage to be very spacious. There would be plenty of room for two couples or a family. The kitchen was large and well-equipped with everything we needed, and it was a nice touch having TVs in the living room and both bedrooms. One thing to note is that the TVs don't have an aerial, so you'll need to use the smart TV apps (BBC iPlayer, ITVX, etc.) to watch television. Unfortunately, there were a few issues that let the property down. The mattress in the rear bedroom was heavily stained and badly sunken in the middle, making it very uncomfortable to sleep on. We ended up moving to the front bedroom, but it's right next to the main road, so traffic noise was

Needs a bit of a tidy but basically a nice cottage so don’t be put off by the entry. Positive: Both bedrooms were good with en-suites. Comfortable modern and large. Back bedroom would benefit with a blind in en-suite. Excellent kitchen but could do with more utensils. Lounge is small and could benifit from a comfortable settee. Overall a nice interior? Negative: The back entry which is the first impression is really bad. Overgrown vegetation, broken concrete. Rusty steel staircase. Very bad first impression. Entry door also needs replacing Traffic noise from front bedroom started about 4.30. Back bedroom was ok. Car parking is for one car . Other car had to park at the car park near the Lidl at £8 per night.

The cottage photos flattered to deceive. Positive: The location of the cottage, whilst on a busy road was very central. The cottage had a well equipped kitchen and two bathrooms. The cottage was clean and tidy on arrival. Negative: The write-up talked about a terrace and this was only a damp and somewhat gloomy walk through to the property. You could certainly NOT have used this space in anyway. Lots of the wallpaper was hanging off the walls, particularly in the bathroom. The sink in the main bathroom did not empty well and the sink in the other 2nd bathroom smelled of damp. One bed was very uncomfortable.

Chic property in Pickering. Positive: Lovely clean modern interior, all mod cons. Negative: Spongy mattresses and noisy upstairs, from people running on a wooden floor.

Leaflets in cottage are out of date, some by 2 years, so need updating. Was all going so well until I stripped beds as I always do at end of stay to find urine stain on mattress protector, which would have been seen by cleaners.Absolutely disgusting!

Positive: Well equipped, beautifully decorated cottage a 3 minute walk from Pickering's main shopping street. Parking for one car at the rear of the property in a town where public parking can be quite difficult. A Lidl and a Coop a couple of minutes walk away. All in all, a great property to stay in. Negative: Double bedroom at the front of the property was a little noisy from traffic but certainly not too noisy.

Great cottage with loads of space and the rare gem of a parking space in Pickering! The interior was super clean and well-maintained with modern bathrooms and very comfy beds. We loved our stay and will definitely be coming back.

Good location for access to North Yorkshire, villages, coast and cities (York). Location in Pickering was great a few minutes walk from two supermarkets and town centre. Good sized bedrooms with on-suite, kitchen was well equipped. Enjoyed our stay would reccomend to others as well as revisit ourselves.

Clean, comfortable and convenient Positive: The property was clean and comfortable, with everything we needed. It was in a central location, close to shops and with parking. Negative: It's a matter of personal taste, but for me the property could have been given a bit more character, perhaps referencing the history or geography of the local area. The parking could have been quite tight for someone with a large vehicle as it is shared with neighbours, but we were fine with our small car.

Was OK for the price, but a welcome pack would elevate the customer experience. Positive: Two bedroom property with 2 en suites. Property was spacious for two people and nice and clean. Right in the heart of Pickering with onsite parking. Negative: A terrace was mentioned but all I saw was a concrete path to the bins. One of the showers leaked over the bathroom floor which could have been dangerous. One of the bedrooms was right on the main st near traffic lights, so was a bit noisy first thing

Great spot in Pickering Really enjoyed my stay—clean, comfortable, and in a great location close to the town and countryside. Everything was as expected, and the host made things easy. A solid base for exploring the area. Would happily stay again.

Great appartment Positive: Lovely decor throughout. Good sized rooms and en suite bathrooms. Comfortable beds. Location perfect for what we had planned over our stay. Negative: The noise of traffic in the front bedroom. Would advise ear plugs if not used to the sound of traffic.

Positive: Plenty of space, large apartment with two bedrooms, both with large en-suite bathrooms. The kitchen was spacious and well equipped, although we ate out most of the time. Great location, but one bedroom faces a main road, so if you're a light sleeper this may be an issue. Negative: Some outdoor seating in the small courtyard would have been nice.

Excellent base for stay in Pickering Positive: Second visit. Spacious comfortable property. Comfy beds and good bathrooms. We didn’t use but the kitchen is very well equipped. Great location. Negative: Nothing although suspect the front bedroom may be a bit noisy with traffic on weekdays. Minor comments are that it would be useful to have a few more glass tumblers and you have to be careful opening the key safe as there is a grid below!

Nice place, well equipped. Positive: The location was good. Nice that there were 2 bathrooms, one for each bedroom. Good kitchen and facilities. Shops are very nearby. Negative: Living room furniture was a little uncomfortable, only one settee and 2 chairs. Maybe that's being a bit picky. Neighbour upstairs must have a toddler could hear them running around even late at night.

Positive: Central location. Well equipped. Negative: Several light bulbs out in the kitchen making it dingy. Pillows were very uncomfortable. Didn't like the cobwebs everywhere 😕 Very noisy from upstairs

return visit Positive: This is the second time I have stayed in Iris cottage. The location is very good and the car parking space for the cottage. The both bedrooms have full en-suits and all facilities are good. I will return next year again.
