Great week away exploring Whitby and surrounding areas. Positives: - location 10-minute walk into Whitby - considerably more spacious than photos show - two main bedrooms are very spacious - very clean - modern TVs and sound systems - free parking area Considerations: - garden is a back and side alleyway with no gate to stop dogs escaping - limited kitchen and cleaning utensils - no pantry items such as tea/coffee - Wi-Fi was intermittent - water pressure is weak Overall, a very pleasant week away with the family, but just some points of note if you are considering Holme Rigg.

We enjoyed our stay just some safety issues that need addressing and some comfort not to our liking. Positive: Good amount of space. And relatively new kitchen. Downstairs was a nice space for the family. Negative: No smoke detectors worried me and doesn’t meet regulations. Also consumer unit should be tested and labelled (sorry I’m an electrician). Beds especially the 2nd bedroom wasn’t comfortable, and third single bed wasn’t great. Master bed had to be fixed as support underneath wasn’t in place. Door key would lock but not unlock the mortice lock on the front door.

We all really enjoyed our stay here in Whitby, dale was really responsive and helped us with an early check in! We loved the area and have made some nice memories with our 2 children Millie and George! Big thanks to dale for helping last minute also when we wanted to extend our Yorkshire holiday! Would certainly recommend this house to friends or family in the future!

Great quiet location Positive: Loved the location, rooms are big, great for families or couples. Negative: Cleanliness could be better, crumbs in kitchen drawers, mess in bathroom cupboards, dirt under beds, walls with damp issues. Yard could do with a gate if you're bringing pets.

Beautiful property but needs more attention to detail in the cleanliness. Positive: Super location and the decor is beautiful. Plenty of room however the 3rd bedroom is only suitable for a child, which should have been clear in the description. Facilities in the kitchen are spot on and the bathroom is beautiful with lots of hot water . Bed linen and towels were clean and of good quality. Negative: The house was not particularly clean. Bathroom and kitchen were immaculate however under beds, sofa and floors were very dirty. Bizarrely the TV only worked in an evening and the the plug socket only worked on one side in the main bedroom.

Disappointing and lack of communication Negative: We arrived to find the glass in the back door had been broken and boarded up. However shards of glass were sticking out as the board was on the outside, we had our 2 year old daughter with us which it could have ended very badly. We let our dog out to the back yard to find more shards of glass. We contacted host&stay who said they would bring someone out and they didn’t. We were then told we would get a partial refund which we accepted but we didn’t hear from them after this and are ignoring our emails. I would stay away from this company

Fabulous location and lovely little house. Missing a few extras that would have made it perfect. We had 2 great looking clothes rails to unpack to but no coat hangers which was a shame. There is also no WiFi which in this day and age is really required especially for our 2 teenage boys. Well equipped for our short stay and finished to high standard but a few dust bunnies in the corners. We would definitely stay there again especially if they upgrade to wifi.

Not good Negative: Check other feedback regarding cleaning. We arrived to find a lovely place however let down by very poor cleaning dead fly's on window cils didn't think to much about it until we went outside and found a glass jar full of cigarettes ends left right next to the door. But to top it off there were dog poo bags witch had been left full of poo between the door step and drain cover which might of explained the dead fly's in the house as there was a half inch gap at the bottom of the kitchen door see pictures. I have emailed host and stay to bring it to there attention but received no refund or explanation. There is no secure garden for pets so be aware of that. So for £380 for 2 nights which was reduced I think it was very over priced. Check pics discusting. I forgot to mention dog poo in yard not picked up which I stood in. Not good

Great property but in need of some tlc.The location was great just a short stroll into town. Positive: Very spacious,good location and really modern, Negative: Back door wasn’t safe, No back gate for our dog, Property needed a good deep clean,very dusty! Damp issues in some rooms. No outside lights around the back . Front door lock faulty! Replacement of light bulbs. Very very poor WiFi ,tv’s were constantly buffering!

Positive: We loved how modern the interior of the house was and how close it was to the center of whitby although the Hull to walk up on the way back was not for the feint hearted Negative: Although being a pet friendly place the back 'courtyard' wasn't secure and the dogs could run into the alley at the side of the house. Also the single bed advertised is not suitable for anyone over 5ft6 as it was tiny and couldn't lie flat on it. Luckily there was a couch bed downstairs we had to use.

Disappointing Positive: Some nice decor and an OK location. The house is however at the top of a very steep hill. Negative: A number of things were unclean, broken pots left in the outdoor area, a mouldy towel left in the washing machine and left for what smelled like weeks. There has been surface cleans but the house could do with a deep clean as animal hair under the sofa, on furniture and the sofa is very dirty.

House was dirty with stained sofas and footstool, dust on all blinds, dead flies on kitchen window sill, unclean fridge, old used bags in freezer, dirty kitchen cupboards, dirty oven door, dirty hall floor, filthy back door, filthy banister rail and some skirting boards. Nasty smell - house had not been aired. General maintenance of house exceptionally poor. Paint peeling off walls including next to one bed. Chipped door frames, gaps around light switches. Damp stains across ceiling of bedroom 2. Messy paint patches visible to cover scuff marks instead of complete paint job. This property is sold through its photos as a luxury house. The photos online do not represent the house as it actually is - peeling paint, damp etc not apparent. We would not have booked this place if we had seen the true state of the house. Having read other previous reviews, which sadly we failed to do before booking, my review is not the only one listing a catalogue of maintenance and cleaning issues.

Good location but needs work Positive: Good location, some nice decor, easy check in. Negative: Was pretty dirty throughout, sofa really dirty and cushions on bed dirty, clearly not been cleaned properly since last guest as there was a necklace on the floor in the bathroom. Not a great selection of cooking appliances (and most were dirty), no soap at the property, no cleaning spray to wipe the kitchen counters with, only 1 dishwasher tablet given for a 3 night stay for 4 people. Live channels don’t work on TV can only watch some apps (channel 4/ player/ ITV). Property needs a refresh, bad paint work and crumbling walls all over the place. Water pressure on shower awful.

Just a few niggles with the house. Neither TV worked in the bedrooms. The 3rd bedroom is very small and the bed is just a wooden DIY frame with a thin mattress on top. No radiator in there. The house could do with a deep clean and some of the kitchen utensils and crockery were dirty. We had to clean the dishwasher before we could use it. All that being said it’s in a good location not far from the town but up a steep hill, parking was not easy small narrow residential streets once we found a spot we didn’t move the cars for 3 days. It may be helpful to have an information booklet so guests can navigate some of the things like log fire, heating etc…..also include nice bars and restaurants and things to do. On the whole good stay modern bathroom, nice neighbourhood no garden but a small secure yard for the dog.

Host was responsive and helpful, property is as shown in the picture, beds were very comfortable. Raised a small issue and a solution was offered in a timely manner. Would recommend and would stay again. Property well located but is at the top of a steep hill.

Great location and matched the pictures. Comfortable lounge and bedrooms, well equipped kitchen. Spotlessly clean Easy downhill walk into Whitby. Tricky parking but was a bank holiday and managed to drop luggage off and park 5 minute walk away. Received code to get in at 16.00 but did not get reply from host priory to this and found subsequent responses slow at times, and felt they did not necessarily know the property to offer support. WiFi really intermittent so cannot be relied on.

We enjoyed our stay. The property is well placed for access to Whitby but based on our experience of other Airbnb properties we felt that it fell short of what we have cone to expect for the price.

Lovely weekend in Whitby, the location was perfect. A short walk into Whitby, close to everything, the host provided a really helpful brochure with lots of recommendations and was really responsive! Would defiantly rebook!

Great place to stay Positive: Spacious and well equipped. Hosts were excellent. Great location. Negative: Smallest room is tiny, I was too tall for the bed, probably only suitable for a child. Mattresses were very soft. Feather pillows and duvets not good if you have asthma/allergies.

Very clean . Beds are comfortable . All the rooms are modern and well equipped . Would recommend .

Positive: It is nicely fitted with modern furnishings, with a comfy sofa. It is a short walk to the town centre, supermarket, bus stops and the train station Negative: The main lock on the front door is extremely hard to open from the outside. It would have been nicer if the mattress in the small room was on a spring bed rather than a board.

Great stay, great location would definitely recommend! Positive: Excellent stay, great location, super comfy sofa and beds, spacious and really clean, home maintained to a high standard. Easy access to the property and guidebook provided includes local restaurants and things to do, super nice touch. Would definitely recommend. Negative: Need curtains in the bedrooms as well as blinds as the blinds do not block any sunlight and rooms are super bright on a morning, tip turn the blinds up instead of down to reduce the light! Little areas of touch ups needed when you walk in and in the second bedroom - minor things like paint. Note for those who struggle walking/ hills- from town to the property there is quite a steep hill to walk up. Overall great stay very very little complaints

Lovely comfortable house some minor adjustments needed to make it perfect. Positive: The house and furnishings were lovely and the beds were very comfortable, nice kitchen, very spacious, beautiful bathroom and bedrooms, love the window shutters Negative: Baking trays were old and some were dirty, oven tray had not been cleaned, water pressure for the shower isn't very good and the outside drain from the shower is blocked, very slow at draining the shower base, both wheelie bins were full to overflowing

A lovely weekend in Whitby! Positive: It was very clean and spacious. The location was quiet just outside the hustle and bustle. The beds were extremely comfortable. The house had been decorated to a very high standard. Negative: There was nothing we didn’t like but as it was a sunny weekend it would have been nice to have a little bench in the garden other than that none of us could fault it

Lovely house, great location but a few niggles Positive: Location was great, short walk into the heart of Whitby. House was clean, tastefully decorated and beds very comfortable. Lovely place. Negative: Parking was a struggle, took a while to find a space on street although we did understand, first come, first served. Kitchen could do with a few extra bits, eg, a bread knife, pairing knife, few more mugs. (Only one sharp knife). Tv's were massive (fab) but were continually buffering with the poor internet-took ages, gave up in the end. No lamp bulbs in two of lamps in bedrooms. No batteries in one remote. No mirror in two bedrooms. Toliet seat not fitted correctly.

Would recommend. Positive: Really nice house to stay in - modern, comfortable and well furnished. Good location close to the harbour. Negative: No wifi or freeview TV set up. Parking can be a pain.
