Positive: Location was lovely. Beautiful and remote surrounded by nature. Negative: The heating was off when we arrived. It's quite dark and small but good for a small family.

My stay at Derwent was a tranquil escape from city life, offering stunning scenery, friendly faces, and a peaceful atmos Positive: My short stay at Derwent was absolute bliss 😌. We were in desperate need of a break from the fast-paced city life, and Derwent delivered in spades. The quietness was like a warm hug – it was like the world had slowed down and everyone had time to breathe. What really struck me was how friendly and helpful everyone was. People would stop and say hello, genuinely interested in a chat. It was lovely to see a community where neighbours know each other 🤗. The peace was almost palpable. We spent our days wandering through the stunning countryside, taking in the views, and just soaking up the calm atmosphere. And the best part? It was a haven for outdoor enthusiasts – perfect for walking, fishing, and bike riding. We took full advantage of the scenic trails and even managed to squeeze in a few peaceful hours by the water. The staff were on the ball too – super responsive and sorted out any queries we had within minutes. Made the whole stay totally hassle-free 🙌. It was exactly what we needed – a chance to recharge and refocus. If you're thinking of escaping the city, Derwent's the place to be. Can't wait to go back! Negative: That I had to leave 🥺

Good value for money in a lovely quiet area. Positive: The photos of the property are accurate. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen area well equipped with everything you need . The beds were excellent. The price paid represents very good value. Negative: It is quite isolated so be sure to bring your basics but it’s in a beautiful area. It wasn’t an issue for us but the floor boards upstairs are really quite squeaky .

Great little bolthole Positive: Really lovely house. Nicely decorated, clean, easy to navigate. We were really comfortable and warm. A great base for our weekend. Thank you Negative: I'm old so I ached in bed. Not the beds fault though!

Positive: Excellent location. Very quiet with no traffic. Perfect spot for exploring. You will need a car as there is no shop or any other facility within a reasonable distance - not an issue for us but could be very limiting Negative: Didn't feel welcoming. Given the distance from the nearest shop I would have expected some more in a welcome pack e.g. bread, jam, cake, fresh milk (not the UHT sachets provided). Master bedroom was very cramped, hardly room to walk around the standard double provided. The master bed was very uncomfortable, we had to move into the second bedroom to sleep

Beautiful stay with lovely surroundings, fell slightly short on kitchen cleaning goods and had an issue with the shower but would still recommend and would stay there again

Beautiful location, really nice facilities. Beware there’s no mobile phone signal at the property, so make sure you do all your pre-checkin tasks before you arrive! Would definitely stay again.

Upon our arrival there had been a flood in the kitchen loads of water squelching under foot , the fridge was dirty and the freezer was unusable due to it being a complete block of ice due to the door not closing properly, we had to wash up the plates and pans as they were filthy with food on them., the pans looked to have been used to boil veg and then just shoved back in the cupboards, the shower goes cold after about 3 mins .....The property would be great if only it was cleaned and maintenance was carried out.. the location is perfect tho... and they charge £60 cleaning fee but we had to wash up before we used things... its a shame i cant add photos here so I'll add them to host & stay online listing so if you want to see them look on there... would i stay here again .. nope.

Location was great unfortunately the shower was dirty and didn’t drain properly, freezer was frosted over upon arrival and thawing into fridge compartment, and microwave didn’t work properly. Reported problems on first full day of multi day stay and though my concerns were acknowledged nothing was done about it.
