Exceptional house Positive: We loved everything about this house. It was immaculately clean, lovely decor, comfy and plenty of room. Very child friendly too. Well equipped kitchen with everything you need. Negative: Perhaps slightly more comfy beds and waste bags for the kitchen but that is all.

Spacious and clean accommodation with beautiful harbour views in a perfect Whitby location Positive: The perfect spot for enjoying Whitby and the surrounding areas. Beautiful views over the harbour and get social space for our two families. We were 4 adults and 5 children and had ample room. Everybody wished we had booked for longer. A boat trip from the harbour was a particular highlight.

Off street parking was a huge benefit. The house is warm and cosy and well equipped. Negative: My only criticism is that the provision of kitchen cleaning items was inadequate. We would have appreciated one dishwasher tablet per day of the stay and a scourer sponge. Apart from that we had everything we needed.

House in ideal location with lovely views from balcony over the river and Whitby. Parking for 2 cars a bonus in Whitby. House short walk from the town and its many restaurants and attractions. Great for a family holiday.

Multi generational family of 8, including 2 girls 7 and 10, thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Whitby. However the house was not very clean and most of the surfaces and handles had to be wiped and spilled milk cleaned from fridge. Freezer was also iced up and could not open some drawers. We found tomato seeds on the chopping board, broken glass in the dishwasher filter and chipped items of crockery that was too sharp to use . Ensuite bathroom had an unpleasant smell thought to be as a result of water escaping from the shower tray. Only 2 rolls of lavatory paper were left and we had to purchase more along with washing up liquid for cleaning. Also no hand towel in kitchen. Dust and/sticky marks left on tables and bathroom surfaces. Difficulty opening the key box, only the tallest member of our party could do it. Garage door was broken so unable to be opened, parking for only 1 car and not 2. Our 7 year cut/pinched the top of her leg quite badly sitting on the ill-fitting toilet seat.

Lovely property very central and great facilities. Family thoroughly enjoyed the house and area.

We had a lovely relaxing family break. Three generations. Positive: It was comfortable and convenient for the town centre. Negative: A lot of stairs in the property for anyone with mobility issues. Also uphill from the town but not a problem for fully mobile people.

Had a great stay at Harbour View House. Location is perfect for exploring Whitby and surrounding areas. With off road parking removing parking fears, stunning views of the harbour, all home comforts met and space to stretch out as a family, we would recommend the accommodation to others and likeky look to return when visiting the area.

Extremely dissatisfied with our stay and would not stay in any accommodation managed by Host and Stay again. Positive: The location was great both for being near the centre but also as we have family in the area. Negative: Had a major incident with an unsafe and incorrectly fitted large vertical radiator in the bathroom. The radiator fell after hanging a towel on it whilst my children were in the bathroom. Luckily it was a near miss and never hurt anyone. The weight and height it fell could of easily killed one of my young children. After complaining the responses and communication from Host and Stay was poor to say the least. We had no hot water for a couple of days, which was the first day and second until 4pm). We also complained the second we walked in due to how dirty it was. We have had to settle with 20% refund from our holiday which I think is extremely poor but given how long this has dragged out we had no other choice. The radiator was affixed to a hollow plasterboard wall with no stud fixings and sealant was used to hold it in place. An accident which was inevitable. The maintenance team could not put the radiator back on the wall at the time due to how unsafe it was.

A great place to stay for a bigger group. Wonderful view over the harbour and in walking distance to everything Whitby has to offer. The house is over 4 levels and is located up a steep hill though so worth bearing in mind for anyone with mobility issues. But otherwise a brilliant place.

Perfect for a large family group. Positive: The space for a large family group was excellent. The views over the estuary were wonderful. The decor and the equipment in the kitchen were well chosen. The layout of kitchen, dining and seating was perfect. The downstairs suite with the enormous bathroom was private and quiet from the rest of the group. There were child gates on the stairs. The beds were very comfortable. There were chairs and table on the balcony from the sitting room for when the weather is good. There was room for one car in the garage and the other large car on the driveway. Our third car was comfortably parked along the street. Negative: There are a lot of stairs in the property as reviews already mentioned and also if you walk down to Whitby it’s quite steep down and back, but you do get the great views. Would have liked another fridge rather than a freezer in the kitchen. It would have been handy to have high chair and cot. The reviews have already mentioned that the grouting in the main bathroom needs cleaning but everything else was in good condition.

Overall we had a nice stay and Whitby is a lovely place to spend a few days. The house is in a great location and thankf Positive: Property itself is lovely, it was clean and tidy with a lovely view of the harbour. Negative: The house is over several levels which is quirky at first but then gets a bit annoying after a few days, especially when there are then more steps to reach town. Especially for the elderly member of the group. We were without heating for most of our stay because the Hive thermostat disconnected from the boiler and it was ages before British Gas came out to sort it out. Meanwhile I had to send several messages and take several phone calls when I was trying to relax on holiday. I do understand sometimes things go wrong but it is annoying when you’re on holiday all the same. We couldn’t get the towels dry which was a pain, and especially when we only had 2 hand towels between 9 people. The house could have done with a few more niceties being left for us, ie dishwasher tablets, handwash, shower gel (there was only shampoo).

Good option for large groups Positive: The location and the space in the house was fabulous Negative: That for the amount paid and especially the additional cleaning charge the fact that it was superficially clean but that for example the skirting board were dusty and lamp shades were thick with dust, and grouting in the bathroom needed bleaching. Also for the price we would have expected a welcome pack as have had in other properties for less money.

The location was fantastic, overlooking the harbour and 5-10 mins walk into town. The house was well equipped and perfect for the size of our group (8), with nice outside seating space to enjoy the sun and view. The lounge and kitchen were a great size and fantastic space for everyone to hang out. Parking wise, the garage and drive were essential. We only had two cars and you'd be pushed to find space nearby for any additional cars. Would thoroughly recommend and would rent this house again. Thank you for a great stay!

Great Views and Location, could have been perfect but let down by a number of minor issues Positive: Great views and location. Easy walk into town, close to the Abbey and 199 steps.... be warned, Whitby is hilly! Negative: Had a few (minor issues). Getting the code for the key lock box proved problematic. We'd booked an extra day (at the start) which seemed to complicate matters getting the host to provide the code. Not helped by poor (no) wifi in some areas of town. Dishwasher wouldn't work on arrival but was fixed later in the week - 9 people in our group so dishwashing was a pa One of the bar stool seats was loose and dangerous. Some of the glasses weren't clean on arrival, possibly as the dishwasher wasn't working. Only one tea towel, not great for the amount of washing up we did.

Beds top notch.Downstairs bedroom and ensuite the best ive seen in a rental Negative: Outside acces could be problematic for anyone with mobility issues (steep path or stairs) but the view was great

Lovely accommodation, we will be back asap. Positive: The house was perfect for our group. Spacious and comfortable over four floors, with a well equipped kitchen. There’s a nice patio area outside which we were lucky enough to enjoy. We had great weather so we could enjoy the fabulous view while having a glass or two of bubbles. The house is in a perfect location, view is amazing and only a short walk into the centre of Whitby. We will definitely stay here again. Negative: I didn’t like the gravel on the patio area, I find it uncomfortable to walk on but that’s just a personal preference.

Negative: Es hat 2 Tage gedauert bis wir uns daran gewöhnt haben, das die Garage über dem Wohnzimmer ist. In den Hang gebaut halt… aber wirklich kein Makel.

Our trip included several different Airbnb stays throughout Yorkshire, this was by far the loveliest home! From every room, we had a stunning view, and as we were traveling in a group, we really enjoyed sitting on the balcony and sitting together in the spacious living room. We found everything easily and loved the location, which was a short walk into town and close to everything. There was plenty of communication and that was helpful. The one thing that was unexpected was the requirement that I had to follow a link and use my credit card to put down a further deposit before getting any check-in information. I’m also an Airbnb host and putting down a deposit is nothing out of the ordinary, but I found it extraordinary to have to go to another website and pull out my credit card and input it, I did not like this. I was lucky I was connected to Wifi in another apartment otherwise I would not have been able to. Apart from this last-minute shock, everything went smoothly!

Plenty of room to relax,a well equipped kitchen, great sleeping arrangements with good sized rooms, parking for two cars (we had one mid size saloon in the garage and one large saloon on the drive). This property may not suit people with mobility issues as its over several floors, and walking into town requires climbing many steps or a long (hilly)walk. But this property was enjoyed by all our group. Would happily return for a longer stay.

Harbour View House is in a scruffy location but easy walking distance of the attractions of Whitby, with excellent views as the name suggests. The layout worked well for our multi-generational party, allowing everyone their privacy and communal space as needed. The last minute insurance fee request was disappointing and this should be made clear up front. Despite the noticeable smell of pets throughout the property our party were satisfied with their rooms, aside from ourselves in the lower level. As others have noted significant maintenance is well overdue with mould clearly visible throughout the bathroom with an accompanyng strong nauseating odour. The vinyl floor is also heavily stained and uneven as a result of this issue. Communication with the host regarding the washer location was slow and inaccurate but otherwise good leading up to our stay. Once investment in the remedial work has been undertaken this property will be excellent.

This is a great place, exactly as described. it's lovely and spacious, well stocked and importantly dog friendly. Awesome views and near to everything. we didn't need to use the car at all. would go back any time.

Top notch house in a great location in Whitby Positive: The property was spotlessly clean and ready for us on arrival so we were able to check in earlier which was very much appreciated. We brought our own things like tea, coffee, milk etc but there was a good range of these at the property which is a great touch. There was a good coffee machine and a stock of coffee pods available which is brilliant. The location is brilliant, 5 minute walk to the centre and right near the trail to the Abbey. The view is great and every room was of a good quality. The garage is brilliant as we had two cars so we were able to keep cars off the road by using the garage. Would highly recommend ☺️ Negative: Not a thing, couldn’t fault it 🙌🏻

Lovely accommodation within easy reach of the shops, beaches and heritage sites. Positive: Absolutely stunning view from the balcony. Excellent en suite bedroom downstairs and well equipped kitchen dining living room upstairs. Negative: Too many steps! My wife had a knee replacement after I had booked the holiday!

Fabulous weekend. We stay here again . Positive: Easy access down into whitby . Very clean. Fabulous views from the two balcony. Plenty of space. Beautiful house. Made our weekend special with a family wedding in Robin-hoods bay. Easy to get taxis or the bus . Fabulous location. would recommend this property to family and friends. Negative: Check in at 4pm was too late , we would have liked to have checked in earlier around 2pm but we didn’t want to pay any more money for this after already paying all the money for the accommodation. knowing there was no one in the night before it would have been nice to have checked in earlier. Apart from this we really enjoyed our stay.

OK Positive: Great location, very close to the harbour, great view. Friendly team when contacted. 3 very good sized bedrooms. Just a note that the property is over 4 floors so not suitable for people with mobility issues. Negative: Not very clean think the owner needs to revisit their,choice of cleaner. Living room, kitchen and main bathroom are a bit tired and need some tlc. All rooms smell very fusty. Patio needed serious weeding

Stayed here with friends and their dogs to celebrate a 70th birthday nice big house clean and walking distance to town. Positive: Location in walking distance to town and beautiful walks. Excellent for large family or group of friends. Negative: There was nothing we didn’t like people with mobility problems would find it difficult as there are no bedrooms on ground level

Accommodation for 9 was very spacious but be aware only 2 parking spaces. The main bathroom is not on the bedroom level. If mobility is an issue this could be a problem. The accommodation has everything you require and the view of the harbour was brilliant. Kitchen glass surfaces could do with a bottoming out. Property is on a hill so again mobility could be an issue. We and the family had an enjoyable stay.

We had a great two night stay and will definately be staying here again. Positive: A spacious family friendly property. The property has the added benefit of parking for two vehicles. We are a family of 4 adults and 4 children ranging from 14 years to 2 years and every age was catered for. Negative: A very minor minor minor grumble is there is no towel rail in the bathrooms which meant that the hand towels were constantly on the floor as the 2 & 3 year olds though it funny to throw them on the floor and stand on them and the bath towels were hung wherever there was a space but with 8 bodies it was a struggle to hang the towels up to dry.

Great property, great location

Our second visit to this great property and we will definitely be back. Positive: Fabulous location. Very comfortable and well equipped. Great communication with all questions answered quickly. Parking for 2 cars is a premium. Negative: The only thing I don’t like about this property is that the bathroom upstairs is on a different level to the bedrooms but you know this when booking so it isn’t a big problem. As it is a large property if you have more than 2 cars, parking can be tricky.

House is over 4 floors so lots of stairs. Negative: Being ignored when querying last minute additional insurance charge/ non refundable of £50...no key code unless you paid!!. Lots of steep concrete steps or cobbled windy path down to harbour level not suitable at all for people with walking difficulties.Bin not emptied In one of bedrooms.

Location was great, easy to get in/out of town, shortcuts etc. NB: lots of steps! Property is good, pretty & spacious; bedrooms/bathrooms spaced out for privacy. Fab views. We did encounter problems on arrival – no heating or hot water and an intense damp smell downstairs. We contacted ‘Host & Stay’ and received no real support/solutions. We worked out (no manual) that we needed new batteries for the thermostat and had to buy these ourselves. We also bought cleaning products to try to help the smell. It did not work. We continued to contact ‘Host and Stay’, but got no help, beyond an apology and request for patience. Back home, we submitted a complaint and chased for a response. After 9 business days (16 days since issue first raised) we've had a call to discuss. Prior to arrival, we also had confusion over the additional external waiver, which I had to repeatedly chase to resolve. It is a shame that such a positive property and great location was blighted by these issues.

Rain or shine it’s always good to be back in Whitby 🌞 Positive: Super large house with loads of space, brilliant views of the harbour from the balcony & garden 🪴 Negative: Terrace area completely covered with large stone chippings which I guess is cheap & easy to maintain . . .

Some minor issues but did not affect our enjoyable stay. Positive: Nice and spacious, beds were comfortable, lovely views, nice quiet position, well equipped, short walk to shops. Negative: Not ideal for anyone with mobility problems for getting down misshaped concrete steps to the riverside. Tv in the lounge could do with replacing as it was giving off a lot of reflection.

Whitby is a lovely place to visit, the house is in a great location to explore all of the sites and has fantastic views across the harbour. We enjoyed our stay.

Just such a lovely place, house is fantastic, lots of room for us all to spread out - it was very clean - Ideal location, close to everything. We had a largely wet week in Whitby but with that fantastic view from the house we still loved it. The hosts are so professional - keeping in contact if you need them. Very handy having 2 car parking spaces. We will definitely go back there again.

Lovely host and building and great location. Cleaning needs more attention and bathroom floors need doing. Plumbing was whistling at night. Dodgy neighbours, had two teens jump the fence into the balcony and try snooping around our door. Neighbour was having weed when we got in. Great space for two cars. Garage door works. Lovely pvt path to the River and the abbey.

Great place to stay, in an ideal location

So much potential - but needs the drains, damp and a carpet deep cleaned downstairs. Positive: The property is very well equipped for cooking etc. There is ONE off-road (Driveway) Parking space. The views are good. The Upstairs of the property (two double bedrooms and a single) are nice and well furnished and nicely presented. Negative: The description states two parking spaces, one off road and one in the garage, unfortunately the electric garage door is broken and would appear it has been for some time, so the property only has one parking space available. The large downstairs bathroom which is the large en-suite to the bedroom with 4 beds smells terrible - it smells of drains, sewage, damp and mould, indeed there is dark black mould stains on the linoleum around the toilet. Sadly this smell goes through to the bedroom and made us feel quite ill, the smell drifts upstairs too into the lounge, even with the downstairs bedroom door shut. There is clearly a problem with drainage somwehere. Sadly this would put us off staying in the property again. The carpets in the lounge are very heavily stained, they smell very much of wet dog and this is the smell throughout the kitchen / lounge area.

The location of the property was great - it was only a few minutes walk into Whitby. The property was good for a bigger group but unfortunately the decor was a bit tired and it wasn’t very clean when we arrived. Host and Stay responded quickly to issues when I raised them but it would have been nice if the property itself was in a better condition. There was a strange smell in the en suite bathroom below the kitchen which didn’t go away even when we aired out the room.

We had a fantastic stay at Harbour View House. The property was well equipped, clean but best of all it was just 5 minutes walk to the centre of Whitby. The harbour views are spectacular.
