Fantastic stay for myself and family 🫶🏻 perfect location and it was decorated beautifully! The only thing letting it down was it lacked basic essentials such as fairy liquid etc. But this didn’t affect our stay❤️

Positive: Located a short walk from the centre. Comfy and clean Negative: Wernt aware of so many uneven steps up to the cottage. This was difficult to access with one of our family having trouble getting up so many steps. The outdoor space could use table and chairs Property looked a little bigger on the photos

The house was decorated really nicely. We had a few problems with some of the amities missing and a couple of dirty items but they were all sorted the next day without a problem. They only provided 2 toilet rolls for a family of 4 one in each bathroom, so I would recommend taking extra. I would say that if you have small children or mobility problems this wouldn’t be the place for you because of the amount of uneven steps . It’s pot luck if you get a parking spot nearby. Location was lovely and the view from the top floor was amazing.Whitby itself was beautiful. Hosts were quick to respond.

Good points; the house was within walking distance to Whitby Town and harbour. It is decorated nicely, shower rooms are clean with great showers, beds are comfortable, bedding is really nice, towels are exceptional, the house was really warm, and there is a great view of Whitby harbour and town from the top floor. Bad points; the directions to the front door are vague and could have been more accurate (What3Words). The steps too and from the house are dangerous. Car parking was inconvenient as there was no parking nearby (however it was new year). We paid for parking 300m from house. The communal area outside the front door was untidy (bins etc). The front and back door were a little difficult to lock and unlock for my wife. The couches were uncomfortable. No dish cloth or tea towels or washing up liquid was provided. Having said all of the above we enjoyed our stay, and with a few little details rectified, our stay would have been a lot better.

Positive: The overall stay was very good everything very clean, beds carpets kitchen immaculate, modern. good views, good heating system and water Negative: the front door lock very difficult to use if it wasn t for my husband i really don t think we would have got into the property Definitely not for the elderly at all

Beautiful cottage in the heart of Whitby, a hidden gem, perfect stay! Positive: Me and my husband just returned from our stay at Harbour View Cottage in Whitby and all I can say is wow! As regular visitors to Whitby we love its charm and beauty and of course the fish and chips! We were a little apprehensive about the access to the cottage after reading one review but after speaking with Host and Stay and reading the welcome pack we realised there is a further side access for people with poor mobility or dont fancy walking a lot of stairs (we are 78 years old) Access into the centre of Whitby from the cottage was easy peasy and the cottage itself was immaculately clean and breathtakingly gorgeous throughout. The top floor has stunning views across the harbour and it felt like we were the first ones to stay there! We can't wait to return to Harbour View Cottage it really is a hidden gem. PS we even managed to secure a free parking spot for our stay, happy days. Negative: nothing

Amazing value for money, very clean and everything you need is there Positive: Very easy to access key was where it was supposed to be all very simple Negative: The only one thing that stopped the overall rating being a 10 was the parking.

Harbour View Cottage is a rare gem Positive: Harbour View Cottage exceeded all our expectations and offered the perfect blend of charm, comfort, and convenience. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the peaceful surroundings. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated with thoughtful, tasteful touches that make it feel both stylish and wonderfully cosy. Every detail - from the plush bedding to the inviting living area - was designed for comfort. It’s clear that a lot of love and care has gone into making this space feel like a true home away from home. The location couldn't be better. It was the ideal base for exploring the area, whether taking scenic coastal walks, enjoying the local cafés, or simply relaxing by the water. We left feeling refreshed and already dreaming of our next stay. Harbour View Cottage is a true gem - highly recommended! Negative: Our only complaint? That we had to leave! We truly didn’t want our time here to end. Harbour View Cottage is a rare gem, and we can’t wait to return.

The house is beautiful, carefully put together, almost everything new. It is comfortable and very clean. It was smaller than we anticipated, but there was enough room. Parking is a nightmare (as is most of Whitby though) The steps to the house were very difficult with a baby and pushchair and the garden could be more secure for your pet. Overall loved the stay, but may look for something more accessible in future.

We had a great stay at the property. The property was very well kept. The only downside I would say is the description didn’t mention that there are very steep stairs to access the property or a small side alley which has unstable steps. I had taken my 85 year old grandparents so the walk to the property wasn’t ideal. Other than this we had a fantastic stay.

Positive: Comfortable house, decor was lovely Negative: It’s really inaccessible, if you have any mobility issues this property is a no go. Parking isn’t the best either.

Disasterous and totally ruined my Wife’s birthday. Positive: Dear Sir or Madam, I was quite literally unable to climb the 36 steps with one item of luggage and had return to the car with the luggage. The closest parking space was also a 10 minute walk from the stone staircases. I therefore booked another Booking.com property (Pheasant’s House, Sandsend) for a further £700 only to find on our arrival that it was double booked and we had to drive back home on Friday night. With regard to Harbour View Cottage, my issue is not with the property owner, my issue is with Booking.com for not disclosing the terrible access to the property on the Booking.com website. The trip was for my Wife’s birthday on Saturday and as you can imagine this was ruined. I had paid a total of £1,150 for 2 nights and had to drive home in the dark as we had nowhere to stay. Please respond as soon as possible re refund. Thank you, Mark. Negative: I couldn’t get up to it which my luggage. A total of 36 stone steps. Despite the Booking.com website stating there was free parking, I couldn’t find a parking space within 800 metres of the property.

We generally loved our stay but we felt we should’ve left happier for the price paid Positive: New and refurbished to a high-spec featuring beautiful views from the 3 floor - master bedroom. Negative: The kitchen wasn’t equipped with some basics - sponges, pots …etc in otherwise high-spec kitchen appliance-wise. There were only a couple of toilet paper roles which were left from previous guests, i.e these 2 were not even new. There was just a little bit of liquid soap - highly insufficient for the available three sinks (kitchen and 2 bathrooms). The guidance how to find the property was not good enough - especially in the dedicated link sent separately to help us.

Overall it was a lovely stay, the whole family enjoyed it and were comfortable. Positive: Lovely clean modern property, comfortable beds, quiet area, short distance to the town centre and Abbey. Great location Negative: Just the steep steps to the front but we knew about these and used the other entry/exit with minimal steps. The washing machine was out of order which we hadn’t been told about however we didn’t need it.

Good value for money, clean and suited our needs for a short stay (but not accessible) Positive: We booked last minute and this was good value for money, and suited our needs. The property was immaculate and clean, and the location suited us as we know Whitby very well, so knew exactly where we were going. We are all fit, with no long-term mobility issues, so happy with the short walk into town, however two of our party did have leg/foot sporting injuries, so the steep steps up to the property were a bit of a challenge! There is plenty of free street parking around, we were very lucky - but you may need to drive a bit depending on the date/time of arrival. Most rental properties in Whitby offer scratch card parking, it would have been more helpful if the property had this facility or some saved/secured/guaranteed parking - however as we know the area well, were prepared to drive around and look - but in this instance were lucky to find 3x nearby parking spaces, close to the property (for free!) The beds were very comfortable, and the space perfectly suited what our group needed it for, but the living/dining room is snug, and the bathrooms are both small. We barely spent time in the property, but this may not be workable for different groups staying for longer periods. The top bedroom was large, there is the possibility for a family travelling with small children to have a travel cot in there. We brought a dog, so it was perfect to have her dog bed in that room with us. Negative: Firstly, the directions and map take you to the wrong venue they are confusing and even once you know which route/entrance they refer to, they don't make sense as you cannot park by the Green Lane entrance. I'm assuming there was once a different footpath or access route that has since been blocked? Both routes to the property are not accessible, if you have mobility issues, travelling with small children (pushchairs) or are a wheelchair/walking aid user - this is not ideal. We used the side street entrance from Green Lane mostly, avoiding using the steps as much as possible, however the Church Street entrance is the best route for getting your luggage into the property if you are confident using the narrow/cobbled steps (as you can park at the bottom with hazards) We lost around two hours trying to find the cottage. Phone support were nice but not very unhelpful, having never been to the property or even to Whitby, they unfortunately were unable to assist appropriately (as they had no reference point) and kept repeating the same instructions I already had sight of. They advised me to attempt to enter a different property. I asked to speak to someone who had been to the property, such as the cleaning team or landlord. I was eventually connected with Maxine, who was incredibly helpful. She helped us locate the property, explained how to use the lock, (which has a knack) and confirmed that no late check-out request had been made or passed on, despite being told online that this was not possible. Our stay was short, so the following didn't effect us, but please note (especially young families or long stays) Furniture/supplies were clean but poor quality; sofas are narrow and uncomfortable, and kitchen stools flimsy/unsafe to sit on, some windows don't shut, there were not enough cups for the number of guests. There was also no toilet roll, cleaning cloths, hairdryer or enough towels for the number of guests.

Very disappointing for the price Positive: Bathrooms/ showers nice. Close to centre. Beds comfy. Negative: A lot misleading in the property description. Parking situation nearly impossible: took 35 mins to find a space and it was 1/4 mile up the hill! Access very tricky: the ‘step free’ alley had steps and was uneven (we had to leave our bags behind to get the children in safely first). Washing machine out of order (with a sign) but I had two young kids with me and needed it! Nobody had told me. Flooring chunks missing downstairs: my daughter got a splinter in her foot. Blinds in bedroom fell on my kids heads on two occasions while they were asleep and nearly caught an eye. Carpets badly stained in quite a few areas.

Great location, lovely compact house perfect for a weekend away. Positive: Lovely house in a prime location. Negative: There had recently been a flood and there was a significant smell of damp. I anticipate that this matter will be swiftly dealt with however due to the professional standards to which the property is clearly managed too. Overall a very nice place and worth the money.

Horrendous, do not book. Negative: Would not advise booking here. Property dirty on arrival (pets hair, sand, dirty crockery, dirty sofas and rug). The floor in the kitchen was damaged and saturated with water. The washing machine was out of order despite not being marked as such and was full of dirty laundry and water. The washing machine then flooded during our stay. When we requested to be moved elsewhere host and stay did not take the issue seriously. The owner refused us a replacement property or any compensation. Because we asked to be moved rather than accepting just a clean, host and stay logged us as having refused their attempts at resolution. Horrendous experience, we had to pay for an alternative property as the owner and Host and Stay would have left us in a wet dirty property for a week.

Great Location, Poor Facilities Positive: Great location, nice place and lovely views from the property. Negative: The property didn't provide any toilet roll, washing up liquid, cleaning products or any complimentary tea/coffee. The location of the property was also not completely obvious and the address we were given took us to the wrong cottage.

The only good thing I have to say about this stay is the location off the property, the space is lovely and has such potential to be a wonderful little home from home but unfortunately ITS NOT. On arrival we noticed a weird smell, the glasses and kitchen wear looked greasy and unwashed, we wanted to wash them to use after travelling 3 hours but there was no washing up liquid, there was no coffee or tea, there was cobwebs dotted around the whole apartment indicating it had not been cleaned correctly, the table has marks all over it like it hasn’t been cleaned, a blind was broken in the second room so we couldn’t open it at all. To top it off we noticed blood stains on the top floor quilt cover and decided to wash it but when I attempted to open the washing machine old eggy stale water with laundry that looked to have been there for weeks flooded out all over my feet then the kitchen/living area stunk for the rest of the day. When I told the host I got the response that it was broken

We had a lovely few days in Whitby and the property was ideally situated to visit all of the popular areas by foot; but was still quiet enough to enjoy a peaceful evening. You are on the Abbey side of the harbour and there is a lovely view of the boats from the master bedroom. We found the property difficult to find as it can only be accessed by small ginnels. The directions provided weren't detailed enough in my opinion and we spent far too long following Google maps in 29c heat with all of our luggage. Our advice would be to try and park by the bus stop on Church Street and go straight up the steps if you are able. Inside the property the bedrooms and bathrooms were modern and comfortable. However the ground floor really let the house down. It had possibly had a leak? The smell of damp was unpleasant and the floors were visibly damaged. We got locked out of the master bedroom on the final night as the door handle stuck. Contact with the host was difficult and took hours to resolve!

Positive: Showers / Bathroom Negative: The beds uncomfortable , very creaky and very low down , difficulty get up from them , The steep steps to the property and steep steps inside the property. The living room sofas very uncomfortable , hard , and not very clean . No mention of unsuitability for someone who has mobility issues .

Positive: The beds were clean and comfortable apart from 1 the lats underneath were moved or broke, Negative: The back door was jammed and no gate on back garden so couldnt let dog out,or sit out no chairs in garden,the kitchen flooring very cold,no fire! No welcome pack like some coffee sachets,or teabags

Great location. Positive: Location is fab. A short walk into Whitby. The steps are ok in the light but need to be careful in the dark. Lovely fittings in the bathrooms Negative: It wasn't the easiest to find, down an alleyway between 2 houses and along a pathway. Then up and down some stairs. The option from the front was a lot easier to find, just the steps. Also there were no pans in the kitchen only the frying pan.

Positive: Location was good Negative: Took ages to find in the dark we went to the wrong row of terraces twice access was a bit precarious as no lighting on the footpaths it was a good job we had torches literally nowhere to park had to leave car in a restricted parking area no lighting at the back front door very difficult to unlock as was lock box to get to key Cobwebs and dead spiders behind sofa and in corner of living room property was a lot smaller than expected

Easy, clean and nicely decorated, the only draw back is that the sofas and beds weren’t very comfortable

The house upstairs was well presented and clean but things listed as being included in the description such as soaps, shampoo etc were missing. The kitchen/living area was quite dirty where furniture hasn’t been moved to clean the floor. There was only one pan, a frying pan, which is poor for a self catered property, no cleaning products weee left in the kitchen, no dishcloth for wiping surfaces for example. The location was good.

Great location. Lovely little house. The front of the house is in full sun when the weather is good so no outdoor seating seemed an oversight. Also needs an iron and ironing board as this is not something we would expect to have to take when staying in an Airbnb. These little additions would make it excellent. Also needs more cleaning items as we had to buy our own. Overall a lovely stay just needs some minor additions to make it 5 stars. Would stay again.

We had a lovely stay overall. The house was spotless and well-maintained, which made settling in very comfortable. Its location is excellent—just a short walk from the town centre, with a convenient fish and chip shop nearby that we really appreciated. There were a few things to note for future guests. Accessing the front door requires climbing steep and uneven stairs, which proved a bit challenging for my mum. Additionally, basic amenities like tea, coffee, and soap were not provided, which was a little disappointing. Parking can also be tricky—we were fortunate to find a spot, but arriving any later might have been a struggle. Despite these minor inconveniences, the house itself was perfect and the location couldn’t have been better. With a few small touches, this place could easily go from great to exceptional.

We had a lovely stay with stunning views over the harbour – the highlight of the accommodation. The location was ideal, just a short walk into the centre of Whitby, and once we found an off-road parking spot we didn’t need to use the car again. Do note that access is via some steep, uneven stairs, so it might not be suitable for everyone. On arrival, we did have a rocky start as the accommodation hadn’t been cleaned. However, after a quick call to Host & Stay, they sent someone out promptly to clean, which we really appreciated. Most of the property was spotless afterwards, though we did notice the kitchen floor still had some sticky marks from previous guests. The accommodation itself was comfortable and well-presented, though it did lack a few small touches – such as a dedicated area for doing hair and makeup and a full-length mirror. These are only minor details and didn’t spoil our trip, but something worth considering for future guests.

Everything was amazing, the view from the main bedroom was stunning! The bedrooms, bathrooms and lounge were all spotless. Perfect location with a local pub just down the path, fish and chips down the steps and in the centre of Whitby. Space was a little small but still enough room for 5 people to enjoy a weekend in a perfect location in Whitby.

Brilliant house lovely and clean would use again definitely Positive: The location was great however to get to the property there was a lot of awkward stairs this should maybe be stated as was very awkward for my elderly mother Negative: We used the washer and it stopped half way through and wouldn't drain water away. I tried several times to contact but without success, on the last day when we were checking out I got a response which was to late was advised they would keep me updated ut have yet to hear 4 weeks later

There was no clear door number, the front patio had children’s toys left from the previous guest and generally the area and houses around it were scruffy. We tried to open the door but the key would not turn the lock. After 30 mins we rang the owners who would not do anything until we sent them a video. An hour later we were still stood outside unable to get in. Eventually, a maintenance man rang us. He was not familiar with the property but had no intention of coming out as he was definitely in the pub. We abandoned him and decided to try and get around the back and get in the back door. We did this by climbing through all the other terraced houses gardens and eventually we opened the back door. The house wasn’t clean. The bathroom floor was dirty, there was washing in the washing machine(which didn’t work)tables had not been wiped, the windows were grubby, the sofas were stained, there was litter under the bed. No hooks for towels. No long mirror. No Iron Sparse kitchen utensils

Lovely house in an excellent location. It was spotlessly clean and the beds were really comfortable. The top bedroom has beautiful views over the harbour. Downstairs is small and was short on equipment, no coffee pot and only one large frying pan. However, we had a lovely time and would definitely stay again.

just got back, our first time visiting, lovely little place close to everything, very clean and modern. will definitely recommend.

Once we located the house, it was difficult to park as double yellow lines, it was advertised as one entrance was in level and other 37 steps. The level entrance had steps, nowhere to park while dropping off cases. No terrestrial TV, no welcome toiletries, no toilet roll on arrival dropped 2 . in next day. Good view of harbour from attic room after negotiating the steep steps. Wasn't up to our expectations although very clean and had just been refurbished and decorated.

Great property, great location, absolutely perfect stay! Positive: Great location and a beautiful property. First time staying in Whitby and this was perfect for it. Will definitely be back!
