A unique and fun stay! This converted train station is an excellent base to walk the trails of Northumberland and being able to come back and relax in the hot tub is a real bonus. The train carriage is well equipped with everything you need and Andrew was really helpful situating us.

Thank you for a wonderful stay. Check in was easy and as advised. Beautiful surroundings. The location is excellent for hiking / outdoor breaks. The hot tub was an added bonus after a long day hiking. It’s lovely and private. My only criticism (very minor I must stress), is that there was only one coffee pod between the two of us and no teabags. Not usually an issue but as it was stated as an amenity we didn’t bring any. Other than that, a lovely stay.

My girlfriend and I went here as a get away and it was an absolutely incredible stay. The host was very friendly and informative everything was easy to find and instructions were clear. We were recommended lots of things to do and places to visit. The guards van itself was lovely and the bed super comfortable. The hot tub was amazing and instructions on how to use it was very clear and easy to follow. We had an absolutely amazing stay and will recommend it to anyone looking for a getaway!

We had an amazing weekend staying in the Guards Van. The carriage itself is full of character, cosy, and beautifully presented — a perfect mix of quirky and romantic. The private hot tub was a highlight, especially after exploring Wooler and the Cheviot Hills, and the location couldn’t be better for peace and dark skies. Andrew came to meet us on arrival, gave us a bit of the history, and showed us how everything worked — such a warm and thoughtful welcome. We left feeling relaxed, recharged, and already wanting to come back. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a romantic and memorable getaway in Northumberland!

Loved our stay. We both said that we wished we’d booked more nights, as we wanted to do so much more. Andrew gave us some great recommendations. I never got round to visiting the local Whiskey distillery. Which I’ve heard is fantastic. 👍

This was the perfect getaway for a couple. The hot tub and fairy lights added a calm atmosphere. Facilities were perfect, and host gave us full and detailed instructions. Can't wait to stay again!

My daughter and I enjoyed a lovely peaceful stay in the Guards Van. We loved the whole experience, from the beutiful hot tub to the cosy bed. We enjoyed eating out in Wooler, swimming in the river at Ford and Etal and even a little visit to Chillingham Castle. We would definitely reccommend the Guards Van to friends and family and I am sure we will be back. Thank you, Leanne and Niamh

Check in and arrival was very easy, and when we met in passing once, the host was friendly. The carriage is in a lovely spot across from historic buildings and with plenty of trees and birds. It was quiet and private. The wider location is very handy for exploring both inland and by the coast, and the nearest town Wooler is great (we recommend Milan for dinner and Grinders for coffee and cake). The facilities in the carriage were all in working order including the hot tub and it was spotless. Towels, robes, and washing up liquid were available but it would be great if a scourer or sponge could be provided too. Toiletries would be an added bonus. There were two single mattresses on the bed rather than a double one, and this made it less comfortable as the mattresses moved around and one of us had to be cautious so as not to slide off. On the whole, a very nice place.

Property is exactly as advertised. Host was really informative about the area and history of the property. Really quiet location where you can hear bird song and see the stars. Ibwould highly recommend this property and deffinitely return.

We had a wonderful few days at Guards Van. The carriage itself is beautiful; comfortable and full of character (it is actually on a train platform!). Location is perfect for exploring the Northumberland countryside and the private hot tub under the stars is a great finishing touch! Highly recommended.

Hello! We had a lovely, peaceful stay here Sun evening - Tuesday morning & would definitely recommend! Our first impression was that the van was SO clean & smelled like a spa! The van/carriage is small but it doesn’t feel like that when you are in it, it feels spacious & all areas have been used really well. The kitchen was well equipped, the bed really comfy, hot tub was amazing & addition of the tv & radio/speaker was fab! The only tiny niggle would be that the shower & heating could be better/more powerful as the nights draw in & weather gets colder. We had a lovely meal at the no1 hotel in Wooler, a wander in Alnwick & on the way home we went on a beach/harbour tour at Eyemouth, St Abbs & Pease bay. Thanks again for hosting us at this unique, private wee spot!

We had a lovely stay here. it's small but perfectly formed. Andrew and Emily were helpful and responsive. It had the three things I judge a place, super comfy bed, big fluffy towels and good loo roll! There was the added bonus of the hot tub which was great plus robes provided too. Kitchen is small but had everything you needed.

Fantastic stay! It’s very private and has everything you need. Great hosts and on hand if you need anything. Would recommend staying here. We stayed for 2 nights and wish we had more time.

A totally unique, lovely pkace to stay. Totally private and secluded spot. The hot tub was lovely and the guards van very comfortable . We would totally recommend this to anyone, Andrew was very helpful and responsive and we hope to stay again in the future .

The Guard’s Van was lovely and clean and well kept . The history of the place was very interesting . We had two lovely days stay and enjoyed the hot tub in the evening . Would recommend to our friends and family .

If you’re looking for a relaxing break, Guard’s Van is a great option. Only a 5 minute drive away from the centre of Wooler, but perfectly located to enjoy a peaceful stay. Guard’s Van was fully equipped with everything you need too, including a hot tub which was neatly tucked away just outside the venue. The hosts were great. Very helpful —providing recommendations for the local area—and very responsive too. They even picked up our dinner from one of the nearby restaurants. Thanks to the hosts again for a great stay.
