Grosmont is situated within the Sandbeck, a large, fully renovated seafront Victorian house located on Whitby’s West Cliff overlooking the beach and outer harbour. It proudly boasts the best apartments, studios and guest rooms in Whitby with the best sea views.

Grosmont is a fantastic studio style balcony double room, with great sea views and an outside balcony with bistro table with chairs.

Inside is a kitchen/refreshment area with an airfryer , microwave, sink, fridge, and kettle.

This bright, modern open-plan style room comes with an shower room and a king-size double bed.

This second floor room offers views across the beach to the East & West Piers and the outer harbour. The balcony provides a wonderful alfresco area to take morning coffee and an evening siesta relaxing with drinks.

The area

The Sandbeck is on the seafront of Whitby’s West Cliff. It is in a central location for the beach, harbour and many of Whitby’s attractions. It is a short walk to Captain Cook’s Monument and the Famous Whalebones overlooking the harbour.

Walk a little further and down the Khyber Pass steps and you’ll be at the harbour and the quayside with all its amusements, cafes, bars and famous fish and chips shops and restaurants. Alternatively take a stroll along the West Pier and look back at your accommodation on the West Cliff.

To the front is the path down to the Blue Flag West Cliff beach and the Whitby Pavilion with its many events.

The town centre and all its shops, cafes and restaurants are close by.

Whitby is easily accessible by road and rail, making it an ideal base for exploring the surrounding areas. Whether you're looking to explore the nearby coastal villages, or simply relax and enjoy the tranquil seaside atmosphere, Whitby offers something for everyone.

Whitby Train Station is located in the town centre and has direct services to Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees, Hartlepool, Seaham, Sunderland, Newcastle, Prudhoe and Hexham.

Several bus routes operate in Whitby offering direct access to Guisborough, Leeds, Loftus, Middlesbrough, Scarborough and York.

Teesside International Airport is 45 miles away from Whitby.

“We really enjoyed our stay at the Sandbeck and will be going back. Positive: We didn’t actually have the breakfast provided, but as a little something to start your day would have been fine. Loved the sea front location and room balcony. Only a few steps or a short street walk into the town and harbour. The owners were on hand as we arrived and helped us with the self check in system and the parking arrangement. The bedroom was plenty big enough for us and the bed was very comfortable. Negative: The car parking on the street is confusing when never done before , but we know how it works now so its an ok system for next time. I’m sorry to say but our toilet wasn’t as clean as it should have been, so that was a job I didn’t expect to have to do on arrival . Not very much space to put toiletries and the free standing towel rail needs a re-think.. A little awkward I think as it is.”

“Wouldn't stay again. Positive: Spotless, good location. Negative: Bed was uncomfortable. Toilet seat wouldn't stay up. Had to juggle to use it and it was too small for the actual loo. Toiletries which supposed to be included were virtually none existent. Balcony entrance was a window you had to climb through, constantly hitting our heads and tripping on the sill.”
