Positive: It was roomy enough for all my family. Negative: Location was good , and quite after a busy day out.
good location for a family stay on the north York moors. Positive: lovely location and spacious accommodation. good bedding and bath towels. generally well equipped with plenty of plates/glasses/cutlery etc. Negative: smell of drains in downstairs shower room. lack of oven gloves/hand towel/only one tea towel in kitchen. plenty of saucepans etc but some not very clean.
A lovely cottage in a beautiful village! Size and location of the property was spot on for our family holiday. We had a brilliant meal at the crown pub and lovely cake and snacks at the barn cafe
What a stunning cottage! We loved how beautiful and spacious it was. Lots of gorgeous little touches around the cottage, including lots of games that even our teenagers loved. It was in a gorgeous, peaceful little village that was so lovely to explore and it was easy to get to York (about 45 min drive). The cottage really felt like home and the beds were so comfortable so we slept so well - we didn’t want to leave!
We had a very enjoyable stay at this cottage in Hutton Le Hole. The location in the village was walkable to restaurant and pub. It was clean and cozy. The rooms were laid out perfectly for our family. The village was very charming and all the locals were encountered throughout the stay were very friendly. Highly recommend this cottage for a stay in the Yorkshire Moors.
Well positioned house for walks, and the village is lovely - but sadly the sleeping arrangements meant we left two days early, as we couldn't sleep. In the main bedroom (showcased on the first page) there's no blind for the Velux window, so my daughter was woken at 5am on day one, and we couldn't use that room for the rest of the stay. The Velux blind on another bedroom was paper thin - as were the curtains for all the bedrooms - and one of the beds (in the twin room) so squeaky we couldn't use it. Otherwise it’s all very basic. One of the toilets was out of order, shelves in the fridge and freezer were broken. There's no recharger in the bathroom. And you need to come with everything you need — in the kitchen, there’s no oven gloves; just a single tea towel; not even salt or pepper let alone oil or a welcome pack, which are very often provided for a house of this price. It's certainly very different from similar priced houses that we've stayed at.
Just home after a lovely family holiday to Greengate Cottage. We’ve been coming to Yorkshire for many years now and this cottage did not disappoint! There were 6 of us, so the two bathrooms and toilets were great. Lots of space and the rooms are lovely, beds very comfy. I especially loved the little library in the lounge - I think I got through about 5 books and could have kept going! We made great use of the fire too. The pub in the village (The Crown) is well worth a visit. Very cosy, lovely landlord and absolutely delicious food (decently priced too). We will definitely go back there when we come back to Yorkshire. Highly recommend for a relaxing stay in the Yorkshire countryside! Host and Stay were great at communicating and received very quick replies to any queries.
Lovely cottage, had everything we needed as a family of 8 staying for a long weekend and it was in a fabulous location. Great communication with Host. Thank you.
Good place for a family get together. Positive: Spacious, well equipped, quiet location, nice garden and patio area with ample tables and chairs. Good off road parking for 4 cars. Negative: Uneven path to rear of building from doorway to garden area. Shower head in wet room needs attention. House keeping need to check behind and under furniture when cleaning, much dust and debris noticed.
Great location in a lovely village. Comfy beds. However there seems to be an ongoing issue with lack of central heating. Previous two sets of guests also made comment to this effect. There was none! Unfortunately Host and Stay did nothing other than offer platitudes and not return my calls! The temperature was 10°C!! Diesel smell coming from the boiler was dreadful. In the internal guide it said to replenish the logs when used, however there were no logs provided! The AirBnB info said there would be salt, pepper and oil provided, but again there was none. The bedcover on the bed in the room above the lounge was badly soiled. It needed washing or replacing. The downstairs bathroom is in desperate need of a deep clean. That said, 4 lifelong friends got together and had a lovely weekend, rescued by one of them who provided us with logs, kindling and firelighters which enabled us to use the fire in the lounge. We did find an electric heater in the twin room, but it seemed faulty.
Beautiful place to stay Positive: Very spacious and lovely location, great for group to stay in one place together Negative: Nothing
Lovely place, lovely area, great if your in a group, lots of nice walks to be had nearby, very peaceful ✌🏻
We had a wonderful stay at Greengate cottage, Hutton-le-hole. It was perfect for our group of 8 - a beautiful cottage in a lovely location with a short walk to the local pub, museum and small cafes. We thoroughly enjoyed this b&b, which was well equipped and we would stay there again!
We loved our time in Greengate Cottage. Plenty of room for five adults. Great spot for exploring the Yorkshire countryside.
A beautiful cottage with plenty of room for our party of 6 adults, 2 children and a small dog. All rooms perfectly equipped with large comfy beds. Lack of blinds and curtains in bedrooms was a slight issue - up with the larks due to the light sky. The downstairs shower room had a ‘smell’ - we thought drains maybe - but perfectly clean otherwise. The whole layout of the cottage is lovely and homely - the books and games were a winner. Hutton le Hole is picturesque- the little cafes and the pub served lovely food with very welcoming staff. The Museum was a hit - worth a visit - staff again - lovely. Overall a very relaxing stay - would love to visit again. Thank you for letting us use the cottage - if you ever decide to sell - let me know ☺️ Next time we’d just like to book better weather too !! (Although it didn’t rain).
Comfortable bolt hole in the North Yorkshire Moors Positive: Comfortable home for up to 8 guests in an ideal location for walks and sightseeing. Plenty of good pubs and cafes nearby.
Brilliant 3 night stay and fabulous base for walking and enjoying the area. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again Positive: The property was excellent and a perfect base for a family of eight. It was close to amenities and well equipped. Comfortable beds and very clean Negative: There was nothing not to like about this wonderful property
Sugarcoating in the reviews Positive: We came and stayed, but there were a lot of disappointments. Negative: A few things were disappointing: 1. The bathrooms: there are two full bathrooms and one additional toilet. The upstairs shower had zero water pressure and no removable shower head so we couldn't rinse the bottom of the shower cabin, but the water wasn't draining anyway so we stopped using it. Hot water was supposed to be on demand but wasn't - it was disappearing mid shower or not heating up at all until we discovered a boost mode on the thermostat. It would have been nice to know. 2. Facilities in the kitchen: small fridge considering the house fits 8 people, freezer with broken drawers. Sticky plates and cups in the cupboards. We had to wash everything before we used it. Scratched old pans that aren't safe to use anymore. Oven, hob, microwave all have seen better days and either burned food or undercooked it. 3. We found a card in the kitchen saying everything was cleaned with two names signed, but there were spider webs everywhere around stairs and ceilings, again sticky equipment in the kitchen. 4. Security deposits are paid, but things broken or ignored by previous guests aren't being replaced. No one checked that the coal wasn't filled, games were broken etc. What is this money going for? 5. You get one single key to open the house, which is fine, and a set of keys is in the bowl in the kitchen. One key was broken, the rest of the keys didn't open or close anything. We tried them on different doors since no instructions were given and we couldn't find a single match. The room with single beds has a door to another bedroom and that door wouldn't stay closed so it'd be nice to be able to lock it, because we had to barricade it with a chair. 6. Extremely squeaky beds. With all doors closed we could hear people in different bedrooms turning. 7. It says some extensions were installed for the WiFi, but the signal doesn't actually reach all the bedrooms. Those are just a few that came to mind.
We loved our stay here, what a lovely place in a very picturesque village, we’re definitely coming back! Parking was easy, we have a massive car but there was plenty of room in the gated parking area - you’d comfortably get 2 cars in there. The house was more spacious than we thought from the outside. It’s a very homely place with far more furnishings than your standard air bnb. There are some basic bits that need a bit of attention (like the light in the extractor fan or the battery in the clock) but nothing that effected our very pleasant stay. The large bedroom is modern and spacious, which possibly emphasised the somewhat dated bathroom next to the room, but everything worked perfectly and was clean so it didn’t bother us. The gated garden is not directly accessible from the house, you have to go out the front door and round the side to use it, but we enjoyed sitting out there a few times whilst the dog played on the lawn. Overall a great place and highly recommended!
The property was great and the location was beautiful and peaceful. We had 5 adults, 2 children and a dog, and felt like there was plenty of room for us all. It was helpful to have private parking and we managed to fit three cars in the parking area, which was really helpful. We did have an issue where a few of the bedroom doors didn’t fully shut/lock properly, as some of the fittings were a little bent. This made it difficult when trying to keep the dog out of the bedrooms! The bathrooms were good and small toiletries provided, but no hand soap given in any of the toilets. We did however love our stay, would definitely stay again if we were coming back to the area.
Beautiful property but needs a deep clean Positive: The property and surrounding area was absolutely beautiful! There was everything you needed in the property to have a comfortable and easy stay. The main bedroom was stunning. As were the bathrooms. We managed to fit 3 cars in the designated parking area, which was a bonus. The village shops were easily accessible and had bits that you needed. The walks/hikes close by were perfect. Overall it was an amazing weekend, the cleanliness just let it down. Negative: The house could do with a deep clean. There were cobwebs and spiders everywhere. The tiles, underneath the kitchen cupboards and extractor fan were covered in dust and grease. Inside the kitchen drawers and cupboards all need cleaning out. There was food, dust and bits all over everything. There was dog hair all over the carpet. The mattress on the king size bed, attached to the single bedroom, could do with replacing. There were stains all over it. Also the fridge doesn't close properly and because of this nothing stayed cold.
Holiday at Greengate Hutton-le-Hole Positive: Location and bedrooms were good, and the facilities were fair Negative: The smell of the oil from the heating was really bad, and the step down from the hall to the kitchen causes problems with guests who have poor mobility. There are no cupboards for food as too many cupboards full of glasses etc. The table and chairs at the back of the cottage were very dirty.
The only issue was that there was a large step between the down stairs bedroom and entrance hall to the kitchen which a member of the family with mobility problems found difficult. This was not made clear in the description. Otherwise a beautiful cottage
We enjoyed our stay Positive: The cottage was nice and spacious in a lovely village Negative: We enjoyed our stay but this cottage isn’t child friendly for children under 5 years old I would say due to steep stairs and different levels between the living room and kitchen area and also the garden had steps we had a 4 year old with us a 19 month old and a 5 month old so was a bit difficult at times
lots to improve on / needs a deep clean more than anything ! doesn’t feel looked after at all considering the price Positive: the location was excellent Negative: needs a deep clean , lots of cobwebs and dust , the shower was un useable full of mould. Very cold , we had no hot water or heating on the second night we reported it but no body came to fix until 1/2 before we checked out the following morning!! not ok with 2 young children and -4 in the evening / no wood was left for fires had to drive and buy our own £26 ! Dog hairs and lots of dust pretty grim really not impressed at all
Absolutely spectacular place to stay, very comfortable and cosy. the location is fantastic for both hiking or a great day by the sea. host very responsive to any queries during our stay.
Lovely village, perfect accommodation for a walking holiday base.
Gorgeous characterful cottage in beautiful location. Perfect for 2 families catching up 😍 Positive: Beds were so comfy and house so spacious though we all just stayed in the kitchen! Negative: If anything we’d have benefited from tea towels but this is a minor thing
Excellent spacious cottage in the heart of the village of Hutton le Hole, we had a lovely weekend with extended family. There was plenty of space to gather to chat, eat or play and very comfortable bedrooms to escape to at night. Would definitely recommend
Lovely cottage overall. Cosy and in a pretty village with amenities nearby. Plenty of books and games provided which was a bonus. Unfortunately a few small things means the cottage isn't perfect... Main bedroom - had WiFi extender but it didn't work, so a WiFi blackspot. No blind/curtain on 2 windows so good luck sleeping in the summertime! Kitchen - no cupboard space to store food. Several warped pans. Fridge had ice at the back which we didn't notice and ruined our fresh fruit/veg. Finally, the online house guide sent to us said the house would have branded eco-friendly loo rolls, soap products and coffee pods. No such things were provided, so in terms of who's being charged for these things either (a) the cleaning company is screwing over the property management, (b) the property management is screwing over the owner, or (c) the property management is screwing over the guests. Most of the above things can be easily resolved... if so then I'd still recommend it overall.
Family and I loved our stay at Greengate cottage, would recommend visiting the craft workshops in the village
Do not book a holiday with Host and Stay!Do not stay at this property in Hutton le Hole without guarantees that a lot of work has been done here.We stayed at the house in September 2026 and there were 5 adults so we particularly booked this because it was 4 bedrooms. When we arrived one of the bedrooms was not made up and we saw the room was flooded through a leak in the roof with plastic tubs down to catch water. It was too late to go anywhere else and two of our adults had to share when the whole point was we needed 4 bedrooms. Despite calls to the host and stay team they did nothing for us while there. We also found the dishwasher still had food in it, some cleaning was not done, and the hob was broken so it can only be off or on the maximum setting of 9.The latter items we could have lived with as the area was lovely, but the lack of a fourth bedroom was a huge let down for us. Since they we have complained repeatedly about this and been told the issue is still under investigation 21 days on. Their policy is 7-10 days turnaround on complaints and now they have stopped responding to us altogther. They acknowledged in writing there was a major issue with the bedroom and we should have been told in advance. They apologised for the cleaning and hob issues. But when we ask for compensation they repeatedly say it is with the resolution team, hoping we go away. Do not stay here. Do not book anything with Host and stay and hope to have a problem addressed.
We were told before arrival that 1 of the bedrooms was out of bounds due to a leak. We didn’t realise this meant to get to a useable bathroom we’d need to trek the length of the property negotiating a low door, giant step, through the kitchen, up steep stairs off the lounge. The downstairs toilet/shower was tiny. The shower was damp despite not using it. The window had to be kept ajar due to the smell. We were surprised by the lack of toiletries. The cottage needs a really deep clean. Carpets were stained and the furniture in the shared areas was tired. We didn’t the use dining room but a slug/snail must’ve been in there given the evident trail. The galley kitchen was very narrow. The lounge was dark and musty. The parking area is tight. It was a shame to have to step over 2 cigarette butts outside the door. Appreciate it’s an old quirky property, but needs to be better maintained to be more welcoming.
We enjoyed a good family reunion. Negative: . Very disappointed about the state of one bedroom. My daughter and husband were most uncomfortable in a smelly room with a dripping ceiling beam. Also in another bedroom, the mattress was disgusting.
Un logement qui a répondu à nos attentes. Il était idéalement localisé dans le petit village de Hutton le hole. Nous avons passé un très bon séjour.
Great stay at greengate cottage the whole family loved it there. Great location. Lovely quirky cottage. All previous review issues have been addressed. Especially liked the little seating area at the front of the building looking out to the street. Great place to people watch. Thanks for a lovely stay.
The cottage is absolutely stunning and in the perfect location for exploring the beautiful Yorkshire Moors. The spacious layout was ideal for our party of six, giving everyone plenty of privacy while also providing a wonderfully comfortable and cosy space to spend time together. The cottage is exceptionally well equipped, beautifully presented, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to relax and unwind. Hutton-le-Hole itself is a very picturesque village, with a lovely selection of local shops and a charming atmosphere. We also visited the local pub, The Crown, which was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the food was excellent. Overall, our stay exceeded our expectations. We absolutely loved our time here and would 100% recommend the cottage to anyone looking for a beautiful, comfortable and peaceful base from which to explore the Yorkshire Moors. We would happily return!
Quirky cottage in a beautiful village with lots of places to visit around it (recommend the folk museum). Arrived with a baby expecting there to be a travel cot given it was described as baby friendly but there wasn’t. Sent host a message but after no reply I phoned only to talk to a very unhelpful person. Lots of clutter and broken board games with some deep cleaning needed but lovely bedrooms and overall a good space for the family.
Beautiful cottage right on the moors in the lovely village of Hutton le Hole. the cottage has 4 large bedrooms, 2 living rooms, 2 bathrooms and a good sized kitchen and dining room. plus a garden and private parking. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone. The only very small complaints that we had were: 1) the kitchen cupboards need to be emptied out and properly cleaned. 2) It would be useful to know when the rubbish needs collecting (which Wednesday is the 2nd wednesday, maybe a text message the night before). 3) the seals on the fridge have gone and it needs replacing. that size fridge is too small for 8 people to use. Apart from that it was great
Dales cottage has a wow factor, country rustic feel with luxury touches throughout. Kitchen very well equipped and spacious flexible layout superb for large families or groups. The host was super proactive and responsive and made the trip very stressful free and reassuring especially given it was a significant weekend in our diary. Homely, warm, great showers and very comfy mattresses. Loved the pod coffee machine and washer dryer which came in handy when lots of children in tow. We will be back for sure. Highly recommend
We had a wonderful family stay at Greengates .Lovely house and such a beautiful village Host responded quickly with any questions and offered late check out which was very helpful Would stay again Thank you
Lovely English cottage Positive: Very cute countryside cottage with all the English features. Negative: The location when you reach has no wifi and the you don’t get the doorcode till you reach. So it’s almost impossible to connect with the owner. We had to get into a pub .. use their wifi and then connect. It took us 1/2 hour to get into the house inspite of being right there.
Positive: Location fantastic. Clean and very comfortable
A quirky old cottage. Wonderful location. Great base to explore North Yorkshire moors. “Shabby chic” but pretty clean & very comfortable. ‘Galley kitchen’ was narrow but well-stocked with equipment & crockery. Spacious lounge and dining area were perfect for our large family group! (Children loved the little “book corner”.) There was a private car park for 2 cars, a small garden at the rear, plus very pretty seating area at the front. Village pub is very friendly with excellent food. Village Folk Museum is great! Despite a few minor problems (uncomfortable single beds & poor Wifi) we would happily stay here again. Hosts responded very positively and hopefully issues will be addressed before our next visit! (Accessibility: Staircases are very steep/narrow, but there is a very nice bedroom and adjacent toilet/shower-room on the ground floor.)
Great cottage in great surroundings! All rooms were clean and cosy!
It is a great place to stay. Nice, clean and comfortable, spacious bedrooms. Well appointed, lovely peaceful location etc. The kitchen even included children's plates, bowls, cups and cutlery which was a great bonus with our little ones. The little reading nook in the lounge was a hit for my little one.
We didn’t want to leave. Positive: As a multi generational family group of 8, we were very comfortable at Green gate Cottage. The village is exceptionally beautiful and everything we needed was within walking distance. We felt like we were staying in a storybook setting. Negative: The only thing we could think of was that a couple more tea towels would have been great.
A lovely cottage in a great location. We were happily surprised to find a downstairs bedroom, which was great for us. We feel that this should be advertised as it can be such a bonus. We were disappointed that when we contacted Dale on our first night to let him know that the oven door wouldn't work we didn't have any support. We had chosen self catering but were unable to cater very much without the use of an oven. We had some lovely weather and enjoyed sitting out in the garden.
Enjoyed our stay. However, had to be extra vigilant with youngsters. Wouldn’t class this property as child- friendly. Also, there were no T towels or oven gloves in kitchen. And no grill pan handles - had to use hand towels from 2 toilets - this left only 1 hand towel for 6 adults. (Would have expected more hand towels to be provided.) Oven trays/pans/grill pans etc all used and dirty. Glasses in cupboards grubby and sticky. Green refuse bin outside was overflowing and rubbish was in bags on floor round it. A stair spindle in the bottom lounge stairs is rotted and broken exposing a nail. Informed Dale about lack of kitchen linen on arrival Monday afternoon, and 1 T towel was dropped off on Wednesday morning - there were 9 of us staying in this property, and 3 hand towels and no kitchen linen is not acceptable. Otherwise, we did enjoy our stay, and Dale did reply promptly to my messages but assume he was probably let down by the people working on his behalf.
The property was as described online. The whole family enjoyed it and my granddaughters were very sad to leave.
A lovely cottage in a beautiful place. There was plenty of space for all of us to stay. The beds were comfy and the rooms were cosy. The 3 toilets were incredibly helpful with so many of us staying. The area is peaceful and stunning. The little bakery across the road was well worth a visit.
Fantastic cottage in a beautiful location. Perfect Yorkshire getaway.
We had a great time at Dale’s Airbnb in Hutton-le-Hole. The home was lovely, spacious and fitted our needs perfectly with a great social space in the kitchen/dining room. The location was also perfect with local tea room and pub in the village, and plenty of walks to choose from. The host was very prompt to respond, providing clear instructions and options to extend our stay. We hope to return at some point in the future!
It was a beautiful cottage, spacious, cosy, immaculately clean and very clean comfortable. The towels and bed linen were really nice, the beds and pillows extremely comfortable. We had everything we needed to enjoy a wonderful stay in a beautiful village. There was one thing I was really disappointed with : when we arrived at 4pm on a cold wintery evening we had only 2 logs and a small pack of kindling for the fire which didn't last more than 1 hour or so and sort of ruined our evening in in front of the fire ! We were also really disappointed to be told that we needed to replace the small amount of wood and kindling that was made available for us! It would have been alot more welcoming to have had a basket full of logs that would have lasted an evening on arrival! Then, I would not have minded replacing it !
We had a lovely stay, most beds were comfy, thank you Positive: The cottage was very warm and very spacious. The hosts were very good at replying Negative: The cottage wasn't cleaned very well, the sides were sticky, the floor was sticky, there was cobwebs in a lot of places, there was fly poo on windowsills. There was some sort of blue gel in the bath and a dirty bathmat on the floor. I would have liked some kitchen roll and oven gloves as part of the facilities. We wasn't aware that 2 of the bedrooms went into each other and there wasn't much privacy with those 2 bedrooms.
Great cottage and beautiful village
This is a lovely, quirky cottage in a small quiet village with spacious bedrooms, well equipped kitchen & large living room. There is a great pub across the road, & a cafe. Would definitely recommend
Positive: The games cupboard was really appreciated. Negative: The previous tenants had left dirty oven trays on the oven.
Beautiful little cottage in an idyllic setting Positive: Keys were in the lock up and the code had been sent prior to my arrival. The property was clean and well equipped. The beds were very comfortable and towels and linens provided. There were instructions for everything which was very handy and the village is very quaint!
DO NOT BOOK THIS UNLESS YOU ARE ASSURED THE OILY SMELL HAS GONE! Our stay was overshadowed by the smell from the boiler (located between the snug and the kitchen) particularly when heating is on but also when hot water is heating. This has been masked by air fresheners making the smell even more cloying. It is a shame that the host did not warn us of the problem and was not transparent when we raised our concerns. The boiler is supposedly fixed and this is apparently residue but it is really strong and unpleasant, restricting us to sitting in the front room with no central heating which was needed with the weather having declined. Such a shame as the cottage is lovely and we had great days out. The bedrooms are really airy and beds comfortable. The Royal Oak at Gillamoor served delicious food too. As a side note, some fittings like blinds etc could do with a deep clean. More serving bowls would be useful and the hob doesn't seem to have much temperature control.
Great location in a beautiful village, good parking. however on entering the house we were met with an awful smell of heating oil fumes. A bad leak of heating oil had been found on the Monday and an attempt had been made to clean it up, unfortunately the awful smell was made worse by the half dozen air fresheners that had been placed in the room with the boiler. We immediately turned the heating off which eased the fumes a little. At no point prior to arrival had we been told about this. We contacted the agency who offered to send someone out but we decided we would try and air the building. Unfortunately even after a full day of doors and windows being open it still wasn’t great especially in the bedrooms. This had also been reported by someone in March so it’s obviously a known problem. The place could also do with a deep clean and a little TLC. This property has so much potential and had we not experienced the issues we had I would be writing a very different review.
Horrendous. Positive: The size and the location. Negative: The smell of kerosene! So bad we had to have windows and doors open for our safety.
Disappointing The property itself is lovely. Unfortunately the heating broke while we were there meaning the temperature inside the cottage dropped to 10 degrees. Despite best efforts to get someone to sort this out, and a promise of someone coming out to address the issue with the boiler, nobody arrived. Consequently the trip was very disappointing and the support from the holiday company less than satisfactory. Apparently they are still waiting to hear back from the owner but I don't hold out much hope of anything being forthcoming. Hopefully nobody else suffers the same experience.
A wonderful downstairs space. Great location for walks. The mould was at a dangerous level leaving 2 out the four rooms unusable. There was leak that host and stay new about but didn’t share with us and initally pretended they were unaware. The kitchen was well stocked and resources but needed a deep clean. Lovely downstairs bedroom - very comfy bed.
Could be really fantastic but currently not. Positive: Lovelly character cottage in stunning little village. Negative: Roof leaking into end bedroom, carpet water stained and bucket catching drips on arrival. Mentioned in comments book 4 months prior to our stay. Waste pipe in living room ceiling leaks onto u when sat on sofa when bath plug pulled. Downstairs shower room dirty. Kitchen drawers dirty. Alot of cobwebs.
This was a great find, suited all our needs, had a great location, parking and amount of space. would definitely recommend and stay again.
Lovely property in great location to explore the area and moors.
Great stay Super property with all we needed. Comfortable and clean. Domestic essentials were provided, mot the case in many properties, but tea coffee and milk as well as washing up and dish washer kit. One of the prettiest villages in NYNNP with a pub, tea rooms and a great rural museum
Had a great stay, would recommend to anyone.
Doable in the circumstances Positive: The quirkiness. A lived in home. Negative: Every room had a clock, but none of them told the time.
Lovely location, great walks, nice pub but neighbours a bit unfriendly!
The place is lovely and really enjoyed our stay. Hutton le Hole is a great little village too - we especially enjoyed the Ryedale folk museum.
Charming and comfy cottage, incredibly beautiful surroundings! Positive: Charming cottage in idyllic village with plenty of space and lots to do. Negative: Only thing for us not being from Europe was figuring out how to consistently heat the home. Was fine most of the time but sometimes a bit of a struggle.
Lovely short stay and exactly what we wanted Positive: Size and layout Negative: Nothing
Brilliant
Beautiful cottage in a lovely part of the country. Great base for visits to Whitby, Sandsend etc. We would stay again.
Very relaxing stay.
Had some problems ie the overflowing bins which stank and woodlice invading an upstairs bedroom and bed, wonky dining chairs and torn seat on one - complaints not promptly especially the bins which we felt constiuted a health hazard which the local authority should be aware of. The kitchen is awkward and narrow and apart from the fridge and freezer there was no cupboard space to store food. Downstairs bedroom although nicely furnished we had light streaming in at sunrise through the 2 uncovered windows. Need blind on the little window and the Velux window.
Lovely property, very peaceful, well located in a beautiful area with a nice pub nearby and lots to do. Would definitely go back.
Another fabulous stay at Greengate Cottage Positive: Lovely cottage excellent location all amenities catered for. Starter pack of dishwasher tablets etc. Good communication with Host and Stay Negative: Nothing
Really beautiful property in a fantastic location.
So good we wish we'd stayed longer Positive: The location was stunning and the place was just perfect for us. The beds were super comfortable and the lounge super cosy. To be able to build a fire was just glorious. Negative: Dirty pans in the oven, and only one dishwasher tablet and a squirt left of washing up liquid. Also linked - but not Greengate Cottage's fault - is paying an admin fee on top of the damage deposit and still won't see that getting processed until a week after I get back and then it takes several working days. It's 2023 and money is transferred quickly and for free. Give me my deposit back quicker, please.
Wish we could have stayed longer! Positive: Beautifully furnished, great location and plenty of space. Negative: Nothing!
perfect Positive: was very homely and very clean.
The Greengate cottage was an absolute delight. The location was amazing and all the amenities we could have needed were at our disposal. The charm of this lovely home was beyond our expectations. We will return as soon as humanly possible!
Lovely cottage, great location it was so peaceful and quiet. Would stay again 10/10. Felt like a home away from home, had everything we needed.
Generous sized and well decorated property in beautiful location. Private parking and well equipped. Linen and towels provided as well as toilet roll and travel size toiletries. Quick and simple communication with the agent.
Positive: Nice cottage with character Negative: Parking space very tide
We had a wonderful stay at Gateside Cottage! It was very welcoming, clean and comfortable. They had everything that we needed with a well equipped kitchen and lots of space whether it was to find a quiet corner to read a book or a large dining table to play games at! (watch your head in the doorways though, if you are tall!) The village is very quiet and we had a lovely meal at The Crown where the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We didn't have any communication with the owners but the staff at Host and Stay were very helpful and responded promptly to any queries we had. The downstairs bathroom shower was broken though, so impossible to use, but hopefully that will be fixed for the next guests to make everything perfect! If we are looking to stay in this area again I would definitely book in for another stay.
