This cute cottage was absolutely perfect. The fireplace made it feel so cozy and the basket with wood was a real treat. The space had everything we needed without feeling cramped. It was even decorated for Christmas including a tree which the kids loved. The cottage was clean, charming, and full of character. A lovely little getaway that felt peaceful and welcoming we’d happily stay here again.
The cottage had everything we needed as a few days for a family of four. There was an issue with the hot water but it was sorted out the same day. Instructions were clear as and the living room is a really good space too.
Really great place to stay. We were visiting Flamingo Land and this was just a 5 minute drive away. Cottage was lovely, meant that as a family of 4 we all had our own space and we were all extremely comfortable.
Cottage break Positive: The cottage was nice and clean had a great kitchen with all you needed beds were comfortable but extra blankets would have made us more comfortable as we were quite cold Negative: The heating was pre- set and we were unable to change it. We only had enough hot water for 1 bath so our other children were disappointed and the second day there was no hot water we could not change settings on heating There was a log burner but not enough small kindling for our second night and nothing to chop the large lumps of wood that were available Also when using the burner the cottage became very smoky maybe the flue needs cleaning We also sent our host photos of a couple of loose light fittings we found but they all worked and didn't effect our stay

Family retreat Positive: Great Cottage, with all the facilities we needed for a family break Relaxing surroundings - a pleasurable stay in north Yorkshire Convenient parking, Clean and Tidy , little girl loved the bunk bed. Beautifully decorated throughout. Home from home. Negative: If you are eating out Sundays, need to eat before 4pm limited choice Cottage is fabulous and done to a high spec, however in need of some tlc in areas to maintain the premium cottage rating it truly deserves.
Fabulous location .. house clean and well presented with everything you could need for a short break away! Positive: The cottage was in a small quiet village but central to York and Scarborough, with Flamingo Land only a couple of miles away, so lots to entertain the g/kids. The local pub served a good meal (except Mondays and Tuesdays) and welcomed children to dine there too. There isn’t a local shop within walking distance (so be aware to take supplies) but basic tea,coffee sachet milk were provided. Everything we needed was available to hand and importantly clear instructions on how to use each appliance. All worked well! Communications with the agent on anything we needed to know were excellent. Even the WiFi worked! The bed was so comfortable we searched the make online to get one for home 😂 We have a lovely time in September cottage. Thank you! Negative: An extra loo roll would have been handy.
Positive: Comfy little cottage perfect for a family of four . Close to local attractions and in a pretty village. Lots of kitchen equipment for self catering. Negative: Host and Stay sent several messages during the stay via Booking.com asking us to book another night at a discounted rate. Sending this message once would have been adequate.

Excellent stay. Fabulous for a family! Positive: Lovely little place in the countryside a 10 min drive from Flamingo Land (the purpose of our stay). Beautifully decorated, comfy beds and equipped with everything we needed. We weren't sure what to take with us in terms of tea, coffee, washing up liquid etc but everything provided including dishwasher tablets and coffee pods for the machine. The kitchen is fully equipped and even had a slow cooker so we utilised that for after long days out. Other reviews commenting on the damage deposit. We were aware of it before booking, it's clearly stated in the information that it is required and I can't blame them for doing it either to prevent anyone not respecting the place. You don't get bombarded with emails either as some other reviews put. I think I had 4 or 5 but they were all valid and then 2 more whilst we were there making sure all was ok, reminder about checkout and then a final to leave a review. Nothing I wouldn't expect! We as a family of 5 loved our stay and wouldn't hesitate to book again! Negative: Not that it would prevent us from coming again but in terms of cleanliness there were quite a few cobwebs. Otherwise it was very clean.
Things we appreciated: good instructions to enter house. Contact details incase we needed anything-we didn’t feel the need as only staying 2 nights. Comfy beds and towels provided. Good size freezer and well equipped kitchen. Washing machine (didn’t use but a useful edition if needed). Christmas tree set up. Cozy and nicely decorated. Eco friendly loo roll! Dog friendly! Great location!\n\nThere were a few things that would have improved our experience: Less upselling before we arrived (was annoying). Fire was hard to get started/needs cleaning-plumes of smoke when starting it off and during the evening-had to open front door. DVD player not working and remote needed new batteries. Shower needs descaling, about 50% of holes blocked. Cobwebs in lounge, kitchen surfaces a bit crumby, sink smelly, scrubbing brush would be useful.\n\nOn balance would we stay again? Yep probably.
Beautiful cottage, perfect for us. Previous occupant obviously had a dog which was very apparent by the smell. However this is a dog friendly cottage and otherwise perfect.
We had a lovely time at the cottage! Very pet friendly, and an extremely cozy and welcoming place. Our host was really communicative, and we had everything we needed. We'd definitely consider visiting again or another of their properties in the future.
Such a beautiful stay in a lovely cottage which had everything we needed. The location was perfect for a quiet getaway, close by for day trips into local towns and also made a trip to Whitby. Really comfy beds and so quiet which allowed some of the best nights sleep we’ve had in a long time! Also can’t recommend the local pub highly enough, food and atmosphere absolutely perfect. Thanks for a lovely stay, would definitely visit again and so lovely that we could bring the dogs with us, thank you!
Nice place to stay for a couple of days and appreciated that we were allowed to bring the dogs. The kitchen is really well equipped and was very clean. There is even a potty for your child in the bathroom. Nice little village. No backyard but able to take dogs/kids out around for walks or for other activities. Comfy beds. Would recommend. Host really great at replying for questions even on week-ends so very good really.
Stunning cottage, perfect for a weekend get away in Yorkshire with a small family. The place is well equipped (our daughter is 10 months old) and there was ample facility and space. The pub down the road was lovely and just a couple minutes walk. The check in instructions were disjointed and the cottage was tricky to find as the wrong address was listed. Albeit it was down the road. I would definitely return and get a better experience now knowing where to find the cottage and what to do before setting off.
We all loved it !! Positive: The jacuzzi bath was very popular from the 5 year old to the 71 year old. Negative: The property was always referred to as Great Habton Cottage. This was the property we struggled to find, even when google maps insisted we were there, all we could find was September Cottage. Eventually we noticed September cottage had a key safe and the key code we had been given gave access to the cottage. Even inside, notices referred to Great Habton Cottage. Very confusing. Post codes are even worse, please start using What3Words to guide people to your properties. It is so accurate it will lead holiday makers quite literally to the doorstep. Couldn't get the dishwasher to work, seemed to be out of rinse aid ? But not a problem as we had very little washing up for our brief stay.
Great place! Very impressed with the equipment for kids - plates, cutlery, cups, 2xhigh chairs, baby bath, non stick bath mat, potty, travel cot! Peaceful and friendly village location. Clean and well decorated house. Comfy beds.
Beautiful property and great location, the cottage itself we were most pleased with. I would suggest however bringing your own coffee as only 1 pod was provided for 2 adults staying 2 nights. We did feel the agency were not empathetic when messaging them and therefore customer service was not to the same high standard we have encountered from other hosts, who provide a more personal service.

Booking.com or Confused.com Positive: Great little cottage, suited our requirements for a Christmas shopping break. Negative: The plaque on the cottage is deceiving, it's named September cottage not Great Habton cottage. What made it even more confusing was the key box pin code that we received from booking.com was incorrect. If it wasn't for some friendly neighbours, we would have struggled to find the place. A phone call to Host and Stay solved the incorrect key box code. Issues you dont want to face on a cold, dark, rainy night after a 3 hour drive.
A peaceful stay in a beautiful cottage Positive: Beautiful cottage, very quiet, peaceful setting, close to the pub. Cottage was professionally presented, it even had a Christmas tree and decorations. Negative: Nothing.
Positive: The location is really nice, very close to Malton in a beautiful rural area. The kitchen has many things for cooking, there living areas and bedrooms were comfy and they were very nice. Overall we really enjoyed our time there. Negative: Everything was very nice, just a couple of simple details that I think can help in future: there was only 1 toilet roll for 4 people/4 days so we had to buy a pack, and although there was washing liquid there weren't sponges to do the washing up, so again we had to go out to buy some. Not a great inconvenience, just mentioning it as it's an easy fix and it helps to have basic things, specially if you get in the place late :)

We had a wondereful stay in Great Habton, the cottage was cosy and warm. Perfect for the 3 adults and child we had as a group. We used the accomodation for a trip to Flamingo Land and the cottage was less than a 10 minute drive from the park. It was well located for our needs.
We spent 3 nights at Great Habton which was a great base for going around for walks and neighboring villages. Arrived late the first day and went to Grapes for a drink and meal and the pub landlord was very friendly and we had a lovely hearty meal. The home was cosy and the beds were very comfortable a bit too much furniture but I guess that's for those having long stay. Unfortunately as per past reviews there was a lot of dust and cobwebs. Oven is old and not very clean but we didn't really cook. TV was freeview and we saw the Now player which we had to plug in to use for streaming platforms. Correspondence with booking and queries all quickly answered and host were very clear in their instructions and the guide on everything was all online which made it easy and very helpful.
Positive: Lovely location. Large modern kitchen. Negative: Didn't get sent key code to get in. Bathroom wasn't the cleanest and needed a bit of a refresh.
Lovely house but filthy. Positive: Perfect location Beautiful house but see rest of review. Negative: The place was filthy. It was very, very dusty. A pillow had stains on, one sheet was ripped as was one of the duvet covers. Never mind the dusty underpants that were behind the drawers in the single room! Contacted Host and Stay during our stay regarding the shower temperature and water flow, which they replied to straight away. We contacted them after our stay regarding the cleanliness of the house as we had already wasted time during our holiday trying to sort the water issues. Host and Stay initially responded to my complaint about the house and rang me to say my complaint would be replied to in 7 - 10 working days. It's now been 14 days and I am no further forward. Its a shame I've been dealt with this way, as it truly is a lovely house and would have stayed again if it wasn't for the cleanliness and lack of communication.

As we mentioned, there were a lot of spider webs in every rooms and on doors. We spent one hour cleaning the house and the kitchen. Some of the knives and sauce pans were still dirty from previous host. The position and the safety of neighbours was amazing.
Enjoyable stay everything we needed, clean beds and bedrooms, kitchen nice and spacious with everything we needed just a Positive: The property was very nice and comfortable beds very clean kitchen had all necessary appliances. Negative: Nothing I didn’t like about the property it was a good base for where we wanted to go. When we first entered the property we had a good look around as you do my adult son noticed toe/finger nails on the floor in the corner near the sofa and hearth quite a few blue nail varnish on some of them which was quite off putting also long blond hairs in same corner not ours as we all dark haired. Also the bath bath was a bit awkward to fill for my 4 year grandson with the glass panel being in the way and only able to move inwards, same for the shower I had to climb in the bath for shower head, turn it on then climb out again with shower running. Shower curtain would be better.
The property was well presented and cosy but there was dust on skirting boards and cobwebs in some places .

Beautiful cottage in beautiful country location. Positive: Cute cottage, very lovely overall. Only a few minor issues, see below Negative: The window blind in the bunk bed room did not close. It was lucky our son was not woken by the light in the mornings. It would have been useful to have instructions on how to lock the door. It was not obvious to us who have been living in anorher country and not familiar with this locking mechanism.

Our stay in Great Habton Positive: Quietness, great pub within 100 yards, great location to explore other areas in North Yorkshire. Negative: The kitchen worktops were all sticky, inside the cupboards were a bit dirty and we had a strong sulphur smell from the kitchen sink, the filter wasn't letting any water down so it was constantly getting clogged up. Looks like they recently decorated the living room as the walls don't match the pictures, it's darker now. The plug socket on the far wall by the window doesn't work so we couldn't operate the one lamp. In the bathroom the toilet was really wobbly and feels like there is a hole under the lino. The shower had no pressure so we struggled to get a decent shower at the right temperature all week. Not enough towels, there were 5 of us but only 4 towels (our booking did say for 5 people). The velux windows could do with a clean as they had loads of cobwebs around them.

Great holiday cottage. We felt right at home, the cottage had everything we needed for the weekend and had a lovely cosy feel. Had a great trip to the pub down the road where all locals were friendly and made us feel very welcome.

Lovely little cottage set in the Yorkshire Countryside perfect for a short stay and some quiet time. Positive: A very nice little cottage perfect for a few days away. Negative: Only thing were the squeaky floor boards upstairs, but it is an old cottage so expected.
Review . . Unfortunately this wasn’t a great experience. It’s a real shame as the cottage itself is beautiful but I struggled to get past the lack of cleanliness. This place was dusty/covered in cobwebs. Kitchen sink was filthy - there was old food in the plug and grease/grime around the metal, limescale on the taps etc. stains on the benches, dirty microwave and the oven had a grease covered sheet of foil in it which made me think it hasn’t been cleaned since previous guests. There was a coffee machine, but no pods to put in it. No coal provided for fire. There was soap scum all over the bath and electric shower was very poor and didn’t work well. There was also a loud fan-like sound at night which was disturbing

House had everything you need for a comfortable stay. Unfortunately kitchen was not in a clean state so I had to clean it before we could settle in. Rest of the house is dusty and cobwebs in parts and hence could do with a proper clean. Addressed this with Host and Stay and they apologised and offered to clean it at the next convenient time. However I had already done it. I’m hopeful that they will now we on top of the cleaning team to ensure it is up to the necessary standard.

Great location, but the property fell short in several areas. It was well equipped but it was dusty and full of cobwebs. The bedding was stained with what looked like oil and had holes, and although we were promised clean bedding, it never arrived. The 4 pm check was unreasonably restrictive, and we weren’t allowed to access the fridge only early to store essential insulin during a heatwave. Disappointing overall, and basic standards of cleanliness, comfort, and guest care need improving.
We had a pleasant and peaceful stay. Nice pub in walking distance. Positive: The cottage was a nice size. Very comfortable bed and kitchen was well equipped. Pleasant surroundings and neighbours. Negative: Some of the crockery and glasses in the kitchen were not clean. The shower head in the bathroom needs to be cleaned . The bath was not clean and there was black mould in the sealant.

Lovely cottage and perfect for what we needed. Very well equipped, lovely and clean and great communication. Had to ask a villager for location of cottage as, although a link to a location was provided by the host, a lack of signal on phone made it impossible to access. Also, check opening times of local pub and restaurant as it was closed when we visited even though website and board outside said it was open.

Lovely cottage, great condition with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Well set up, with decent quality beds, furniture and fittings. Sits close to a pub with decent beer and great food, if not theirs then takeaway deliveries are available. Would I stay again, would I advise you to go. Definitely. Try it and Enjoy like we did. Would have been perfect if a deep clean is done Positive: The cottage is beautiful, the location is very quiet, everything would be perfect if it was clean Negative: We pulled the sofa forward to be closer to the tv and it was filthy behind there. The shower head is covered in grime and needs a deep clean, the bathroom walls have toothpaste splatted on it, around the basin made me feel sick, please ask the cleaner to clean the whole way around the sink. The lamp in the bedroom is draping with cobwebs. The shower only does scorching hot or freezing cold.. definitely needs some maintenance. I am not writing this for everyone to see, it’s so taht you can get this sorted for the next customers. It is not pleasurable staying somewhere dirty
Could be a lovely cottage if cleaned properly, needs some TLC. Positive: The location was lovely, in a quiet rural area close to Malton & Pickering. Check in was easy although we had to pay a £25 non refundable damage deposit to get the check in details, which we preferred over the other choice of £250. Negative: We arrived at the property on Friday at 11:30pm to be greeted with an infestation of slugs in the kitchen and living room, please see photos attached. We then spent the first hour removing the slugs and cleaning the property. Not only this but the general cleanliness of the property was severely lacking, from cobwebs, dead insects to various stains throughout. The bathroom had a mouldy shower screen and grouting also needed cleaning. From a party of 5 we were all exceedingly disappointed, especially in light of the price we paid. Whereas we appreciate this is an old cottage where you may get the odd cobweb, we don’t expect to clean it upon arrival and be worried about germs during our stay. We still have not heard back from anyone and wouldn’t stay again.

A very comfortable and well-appointed cottage which would be lovely and cosy in the winter. Not sure you could park two cars outside, but parking further down the street wouldn’t be an issue.
Great long weekend getaway Positive: Lovely cottage within strolling distance of the local pub serving great food and a short drive to Malton Negative: Boiler went awry but the owners did all they could to try and rectify this and helped us out with heaters and lots of logs for the burner

Positive: The cottage was very nice and comfortable. We never did the TV to work very good but that did not matter to us. We messed up thinking we were staying another day and took the keys with us on our sightseeing but the host, Chris, worked with us and we were able to extend our stay long enough to remove all of our belongings! Negative: There could have been some small amenities in the kitchen such as a roll of paper towel and some facial tissues. I know this seems trite but the nearest store to purchase same is about 15-20 minutes (that we knew of).

Loved the cottage, but needs cleaning Negative: On arrival, we had to wash all the pans, pots and cutlery as there was coffee stains down the outside of the mugs and food on the cutlery etc. All the worktops were sticky, the coasters were stuck together ! The cottage was lovely but not clean !! The cobwebs especially in the main bedroom were everywhere. A real shame as the cottage was let down by the standard of cleanliness.
Positive: Quiet location with parking space, a cosy cottage. Comfortable sitting room. Good sized light bathroom with bath and shower. Kitchen very well equipped. Main bedroom well fitted out. Negative: Second bedroom was very small with bunk beds, so not suitable for two adults wanting separate rooms. There was nowhere here to put your clothes, not even a chair. Bathroom - the washbasin was very high and had no plug so not useful for anything.
A beautiful well located cottage, for Yorkshire walks, Flamingo Land and many lovely towns and villages. A stones throw really, in car. The premises are very well maintained, plenty of room for 3-5 people, good modern equipment. Nice value for money local pub only 400 metres away .. Just the job for a relaxing few days. many thanks highly recommend.
