Everything we needed Positive: Suited our family needs Negative: Stairs being steep

Clean and comfortable beds and good location. Unfortunately the property is not well maintained. There is a fairly substantial damp issue in the living room with thick white mould growing on the wall in some areas. This causes a really strong smell downstairs in the property. Sadly this really impacted our stay, we were with young children so needed to be home in the evenings and not being able to use the living room meant that we had no space to sit and enjoy time together. We. found ourselves staying out as late as we could to avoid being in the house. In addition to this the house was quite mucky- floors were very dirty and dusty. Beds and showers were very clean though. The hosts communicated well and offered us a second clean but we were leaving at 10am the next morning so wasn't worth it in the end. They were in touch after we left and gave me the option to log a complaint - I did this 7 days ago but have not heard anything back. Hopefully we can get it sorted.

Family holiday in Whitby Positive: Brilliant location. Short walk into the main town. Spacious and comfortable bedrooms. Good communication from hosts. 2 bathrooms was great. Negative: Poor WiFi- could not access smart TV. Broken blind in the top bedroom. Family rooms (lounge and kitchen) rather cramped when all wanting to sit together in the evenings. Upstairs shower sprayed everywhere. Parking could be an issue if no spaces are left on the road - we were lucky!!

Good location, poor communication. Positive: Location was fantastic, comfy beds. For the price, it was well worth it. Just a shame about the communication about the left item, a real let down at the end when it could have been easily solved with an item description. Negative: Parts were unclean, e.g. the dining table was home made from pallet wood and there was loads of old food between the gaps of the wood. Also had a message saying someone had left something after the stay but they couldn't tell us what it was (?!). We had 8 adults staying there and no one remembers leaving anything, so that was not helpful in the slightest.

It was as good as the photos depicted it. Very comfortable accommodation. Positive: Great location, less than 5 minutes from centre of town. Plenty of places to eat and drink even out of season. Coastal town so all uphill on the way back, that's to be expected, so be prepared . But at least it is a short distance. Negative: There were only 2 hand towels that we could find, and there were 8 of us. So more hand towels available would have been good, but certainly not a deal breaker.

Positive: Location was good, beds were comfy. Bathroom space was ample. Living room had plenty of seating to accommodate 8 adults.

The house was close to the centre, but in a quiet area. Check in instructions were easy to follow and the beds were very comfortable. The heating was easy to control. I booked this property for 8 people based on the location and bedroom layouts I.e. some single beds in the rooms, however, the property was sold after I’d paid the deposit and and the new owners had changed the bedroom layout. This caused some dissatisfaction with a couple of the guests and so we had to take a camp-bed and floor mattress. The Wi-Fi router was not working, I contacted the mobile number I had been sent and communicated by text with someone called Charlie. I asked for someone to phone me, but this didn’t happen, I was just advised that the problem would be reported to the maintenance team, so we had no Wi-Fi all weekend, which all 8 guests were not happy about. There was a dangling extension lead in the living room connected to other plug. Only 4 toilet rolls, for 8 people for 4 nights so had to buy more.

Michelle Ideal for a girls trip. Party of 7 ladies stayed in this house, plenty of room to accommodate us all. House is in a great central area, however if walking it is up a hill no good for anyone with walking difficulties. Any queries or questions Dale (owner) is prompt to reply. My friends and I had a wonderful stay. The accommodation was so close to the train station and the centre of the town. W Positive: Great and quiet location. Ample living space with all amenities and very comfortable beds Negative: Not necessarily a dislike but caution was required going to the first floor bathroom, particularly during the night, due to the angle of the stairs. However, the sensor lighting ensured safety

Fine Positive: Lovely house great for what we needed Negative: The top of the stars bends and the steps are very narrow this led to my father who is not steady on his feet in a morning falling down them and breaking a toe

Great stay and the property suited the fact that we had 3 couples in our family party. Positive: Good location and house had everything you needed, had some lovely goodies left for our arrival. Bedrooms nice and big. Negative: Found glass on the lounge floor, looked like it was under the rug but when that moved it dislodged the glass.

Positive: Clean and well presented rooms

Great location, good price for two nights for 6 people Positive: Location is perfect, 7-10 minute walk and you're right in the heart of Whitby. Four separate double bed rooms were clean and beds were very comfortable, kitchen area was well laid out and well stocked, a large table in the middle of the floor for us all to eat together. Toilet/shower rooms were clean. Negative: We managed to get one car parked on the road right outside of the accommodation but we got the last available spot, the other car had to park a little further away. The stairs up to the first floor were a bit tight at the top, some might find it a little daunting but we managed. Not that important but we had to buy toilet rolls, there were only two available and they were on the holders, no spare. We didn't have to but we bought some washing up liquid to clean the odd plate or cup but there was a dish washer available which we used on the last day.

On the whole we enjoyed our stay Positive: Comfortable beds, good size kitchen, two bathrooms were an asset and plenty of towels and kitchen equipment. Negative: Parking was very sparse close by but we managed eventually and the steps to the first floor bedrooms at the top was very small you had to be very careful

OK Positive: the location Negative: The musty smell the fact that each bathroom had 1 toilet roll in with less than a quarter on and that was our starter pack, as host and stay said. no good for 6 adults. one of the girls had to go and buy some on the saturday morning. Previous traveller had left undies and socks in a drawer and wallet/purse

Really great experience overall and we loved the bedazzled decor, however we would have loved some general cleaning supplies e.g. bin bags, cleaning spray, toilet roll. Enough space for 7 of us comfortably and kitchenware was plenty too. Would definitely stay again!!!

The property was a good base for a week in Whitby. I have only given the property 4 stars as the kitchen/dining area wasn’t configured to allow meals to be taken in comfort, especially with children. The table was very high and surrounded with tall metal stools, these weren’t very comfortable for adults and had work with younger children. I’d strongly recommend the owners going for a standard height table and chairs. Apart from the kitchen the rest of the property was ideal for our stay.

This was very conveniently situated and practical. Rooms upstairs were beautiful and it had a great terrace to sit outside by the kitchen. The hosts were easy to get hold of at all times. Would come again.

Great location, higher detailed clean needed with a few more finishing touches needed to make it a more comfortable stay Positive: Great location, beds comfortable, a couple of minutes walk into the centre of Whitby! Overall a brilliant house for group travellers staying together close to the city. Negative: Check-in is only allowed at 4pm, despite our earlier request. We also had an early check-out at 10am, which felt rushed. Reflecting on it, the property didn’t seem to have been thoroughly cleaned in the six hours between our arrival and departure. Old balloons were still under the sofa and dirty under the wardrobes. Overall, it didn’t suggest a detailed clean-up between stays, which we would have expected given the substantial clean-up period they had. The check-in and check-out times meant we lost the day we arrived and the day we left. We had to wait around and then get up early. The sofas in the living room weren’t very comfortable and quite cramped. The kitchen table took up a lot of space and the stools uncomfortable. The shelf which housed the kettle and microwave was slanted and looked unsafe. Each bathroom only had one toilet roll, which is not enough. The fridge seemed to freeze food and collect a lot of water inside. It says the property is dog-friendly but doesn’t allow dogs upstairs or on furniture. However, there aren’t any doors downstairs to keep dogs downstairs. I would suggest adding a clause to the booking about pet damage, with money taken from a bond rather than strict rules against pets staying in the property. The TVs were also quite small throughout the property and the cables were untidy in all the rooms.

Positive: The bed was very comfortable, location was good.

It was one of the best I have stayed in whilst in Whitby. Positive: It was well decorated, very clean, comfortable. Negative: The walk up from the town, a little steep.

Great place to stay while we was there for the football. Fantastic location just down the hill into the town Center, could not be better. Place was spotless and was mighty clean

Positive: Location excellent , bathrooms beautiful great showers. Negative: Could do with a little refresh, and a good deep clean smelt fusty when we 1st arrived and kitchen floor was sticky.

Positive: Really cosy house, had everything we needed and short walk to town. Very comfortable and homely. Everything went really well. Negative: Parking was a little troublesome, not a great deal of space but we managed ok. Downstairs bathroom was a bit cold first thing but upstairs bathroom fine.

Great place nice rooms great decor large size tv . Positive: Location was great and the house was really nice a few minutes walk in to Whitby town centre and with easy reach of all the local shops. Being Whitby Goth Weekend was so easy to leave the car parked up and walk down. Negative: The parking was a bit of an issue had to leave it parked on a different street over night. The top of the stairs where a bit weird but once you got used to them the where ok.

Was ok, good location but tired and grubby. Wouldn't return. Positive: Good location, only a few minutes walk into town (but quite steep). Beds were comfy. Powerful shower. Negative: Property wasn't very clean, first appearance was weeds and peeling paint. Some stains on walls and furniture. Wallpaper peeling off in places. Fridge and cooker need a deep clean or replacing. Lots of things in need of updating/refresh. Some uneven flooring. Radiator in upper bedroom was practically hanging off. Stairs immediately outside the bathroom needed careful navigation !

Beautifully decorated home with plenty of room, good location and amazing view if the Abbey from top bedroom! Thank you! Positive: Bedrooms were beautifully decorated and beds were comfortable. Negative: Nothing really but just a couple of little improvements could be made like leaving bin bags, maybe a bowl for fruit, hairdryer, towels were bright white, clean, big and fluffy but could have done with smelling of fabric softener please!

Cute house on the inside, walking distance from most things to do in Whitby. All 4 bedrooms are good size and the amenities worked pretty well, so would recommend.

Although this house is not terrible, we were disappointed. We expected it to be smaller than the photos suggest but it realy is quite small. The location is great and the house could be lovely with some TLC. The living room needs some attention ie. re decorating by some who can actually decorate and not paint over plug sockets etc and more comfortable furniture as it feels like a waiting room instead of a living room. The host communicates well. Bedding and bathrooms are clean and the rest of the house is ok apart from pan shelves and dish washer. There is some sort of white stuff growing in the living room too. Perhaps damp or just could be bad decorating (didnt want to get that close) and it smells fusty when you walk into the room. This is not a bad review. Just a note that with a little spending on it, it could be lovely.
