Second time we’ve stayed and we’ll be back
Positive: Spacious, we were a party of 4 adults and 3 dogs. Very clean. Kitchen well stocked with crockery, pans etc. Beds are comfortable. Plenty of hot water and heating easy to use. A lovely house.
Negative: Nothing
GuestAirbnbSep 2025
A lovely place with everything you could need to a stay in the Dales. Middlesmoor is a good 15 minutes drive from any shops etc so make sure to stock up on your way. I didn't try the local Hotel for food n drink as was out walking / driving to other places but there are 2 places within 5 minutes drive.
The accommodation is lovely. Plenty of rooms for a family of four or 2 couples for example. Separate living room with gate for kids or dogs is useful when cooking in the kitchen. The ensuite bathroom/bedroom was brilliant and meant no fights over showers.

Perfect place to stay to explore Nidderdale
Positive: Lovely and clean. Spacious. Everything we needed
Negative: It is a dog friendly property but the outside space is not dog safe. Our dog jumped out within first five minutes. Also the fence between two properties has gaps between and unfortunately for us our neighbors had 5 barking dogs which made it very difficult to let ours out in the space.

Great location, lovely property, great staff just shame about the garden area which is the only reason for the knock dow
Positive: Inside was excellent and very clean - everything you needed for a few days away
Negative: The garden area was not secure despite asking the question prior to arrival. Our dog was instantly up the verge and could venture into the garden behind or onto the drive/road and into the village!

Positive: Beautiful home, good space. Comfy beds.
Amazing views.
Negative: Outside area not secure for dogs.
Table mats and some plates needed replacing.
GuestAirbnbJun 2023
The accommodation was really comfortable and clean. It is close to lots of nice walks. Overall, we had a good experience staying here. Only thing to note is that, as mentioned in other reviews for this place, the back garden is not fully dog-proof.
GuestAirbnbJan 2023
Really nice location!
Beds were comfortable and the shower was powerful. Heating worked great and the kitchen had all essentials for cooking.
Important to note that the garden is not secure as is stated in the listing. If your dog is small it'll be alright but ours could easily jump up and so could go into the neighbouring garden one way but the other way could get out onto the road. If this was improved by fencing up to the stone wall we would happily stay again as everything else was great.

Positive: Lovely property with everything you need for a family holiday
Negative: It was at least an hour from most attractions e.g malham, York and takeaways were quite a way. We hadn’t realised when booking. This did not spoil our holiday

Great family house, beautiful remote location (which is very much what we wanted!), everything provided - communicative host. Many thanks :)

Fantastic break away. Clean tidy and comfortable. Accommodation was very spacious and appropriate for 5 adult and 1 infant. Scenery was outstanding lots to do locally for grown ups and children. walks stean gorge and studfold activity centre.
Real value for money. Host was responsive and helpful.

Beautiful family get away
Positive: Very spacious and beautiful home - the family and kids loved it and the location was stunning
Negative: Very windy but on top of a hill in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales so as expected! - perfect house for a short stay

Foggyshawe
Positive: The property was very clean, lovely decor, spacious, nice comfy beds and pillows. Every appliance you need for a family holiday.Very quiet location suitable for ramblers.
Negative: No info book on how to use appliances etc cooker, ceramic hob or settee bed. It was a very warm duvet, so we would have liked lower tog for summer. No instructions how to open patio door so didn't use it.Very remote setting on a long winding road that went to a dirt track, if staying with children you would need some games for them as nothing nearby, ie. Park or swings.

Group of 4 all over 75 stayed October 2025. House was comfortable, warm, all mod cons, everything of high quality. Two lounge areas ideal for separating the kids! Well equipped with supplies of consumables etc. Start of various walks outside from the car park opposite. We didn't meet the host but communication was brilliant. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay. The house is decorated really nicely and the place is immaculate. The instructions for getting to the house where clear so no problems there either. Plenty of walks straight from the cottage. Best place ive stayed with airbnb and would definitely come back if I'm in the area.

Perfect getaway
Positive: Location was stunning. The house was really comfortable and we loved the kitchen/diner/loving room layout and spent most of our time in there. The dishwasher was a great bonus. We also had full signal and WiFi! 10 min drive to scar house reservoir which is absolutely breathtaking! The local pub had lovely food too!
Negative: You don't have any view at all and thought the garden could've been made prettier. Just two ladders in the court yard which you look out onto wasn't very exciting.

Set in a remote village, surrounded by beautiful countryside, ideal for a walking holiday. Clean and modern property, dog friendly but unfortunately the back garden is not totally secure.

Accommodation was spotless with everything you could ask for. Communication was on point and property was nice and private. Lovely walks straight from your front door . Lovely open area downstairs leaving enough space for all 6 of us to socialise my only negative (if you could call it that) is the 4pm check in, we found it a tad later than other places we have stayed , by the time you settle in and cook / eat and then clean down it was almost time for bed...but apart from that I would still highly recommend !

Set in the idylic village of Middlesmoor, Nidderdale, Foggyshaw Lodge is a peaceful haven in a remarkably picturesque area of Yorkshire. The accommodation was extensive, modern, warm and comfortable. It was mostly well equipped, but there were some differences between the listed inventory and what was available, notably a cot, despite our having re-checked availability beforehand with Host & Stay. The owner provided one soon after our arrival, for which we were grateful, but frankly it was disappointing to have to spend the initial hours of our stay sorting this out. Nevertheless, we were pleased to have had the opportunity to holiday in a lovely home in such beautiful surroundings. Particularly, may I make mention of the warm welcome from the local community, either on walks or in The Crown, an authentic Dales hostelry, a one minute walk from Foggyshaw Lodge: the local beer was excellent, the food was wonderfully cooked and generously portioned, and the staff made us feel 'at home'.

Positive: Lovely location for a Christmas get together. The cottage was lovely and clean with everything needed for a great stay. We even made a full Christmas lunch with all the trimmings in the well equipped kitchen. The dishwasher was worth it's weight in gold. Bedrooms lovely with very comfy beds. The cottage was warm and cosy even though it' was very cold and windy outside. A great pub with a very welcoming landlord and locals. All in all a very good stay. Would recommend to anyone.
Negative: Nothing not to like

Great place to stay and perfect location for some awesome walks.. pub in the village was in walking distance, the house itself was pristinely clean, spacious and comfortable. Only niggle I had was a dog which persisted to bark most of the night..obviously not the owners fault but take ear plugs just incase..problem solved 😁

We loved our stay at Foggyshaw Lodge. We booked the house for a weekend away for my Dad’s 60th birthday, it had plenty of space, the location was lovely with lots of walks & a nice pub right on your doorstep.
The house was really clean & the bedrooms were all a good size & comfy beds.
The tv didn’t appear to be smart as advertised, however this could have been us being unable to work it! And we didn’t really need it in any case.
All in all a lovely stay & would definitely recommend ☺️

An ideal home from home in a beautiful setting
Positive: It was clean, spacious and well stocked with equipment. It was situated in a quiet village with lovely views from all upstairs windows. There was a lovely welcome pack for us. The facilities included washing machine, dishwasher, coffee maker etc. The kitchen was a joy to cook on, the bathrooms had lovely hot showers and the beds were all very comfortable.
Negative: You needed a car to get to nearest shop and we would have come with more basic groceries like bread and butter if we had realized. The two settees in the open plan area are two low and soft. We could not sit comfortably in them. And needed up with back ache. The settees in the smaller sitting room were comfortable but the TV was of an older type and we could not programme it to our personal subscriptions , so the choice was comfy seating with poor TV choice, or good Tv choice but poor seating and back ache.

A great place for a family of 5 to stay
Positive: Foggyshaw Lodge had a spacious and fully equipped kitchen, and two living rooms. We especially liked the quiet location. There was private parking next to the front door. The open moor was only a few steps away. Three bedrooms worked well for our adult family.
Negative: There wasn't a distant view from the lounge window.

Positive: Very nice quiet place ideal for recharging your batteries
Negative: My only concern was lack of fans as it’s so hot whilst I was there and the wooden double bed creaked when you moved

Great cottage. Very modern and well equipped for our needs.
Positive: No hassle getting the key to the property. Well appointed decor, furniture and facilities. Very comfortable indeed
Negative: I had to clean the microwave (as best I could with what was available) before using it.
Unfortunately the location was more "out of the way" that we had anticipated

GuestAirbnbJun 2026
We really enjoyed our stay at Foggyshaw. The property was easy to find and as per the photos, if anything it’s actually a bit bigger than it look in the photos and there is large TV in the living room area. The whole place was very clean and tidy, with a well equipped kitchen. The local pub was typical of a small village out in the dales - good beer, and good food with a friendly atmosphere. Book a table in advance as it can get quite busy on a weekend from what we found although they still managed to squeeze us in. Host and Stay were quick to respond to any questions we had, and provided clear instructions for check-in and check-out etc.

Nice few days here. As we have young kids, we wanted somewhere quiet with easy access and parking and this delivered. It is equipped with most things - no kitchen bits for young children e.g plastic cups, small cutlery etc so best to bring your own if needed. A few things to note:
Middlesmoor is at the end of a narrow steep road, 20 mins from Pateley Bridge (where the nearest shop is). So to visit anywhere you have 40 mins of round trip driving just to get to/from Pateley Bridge, as you cannot drive past Middlesmoor in the other direction.
WiFi and 4G are available but we found both to be almost non existent for most of the time. there was also no dryer or BBQ, both of which are listed. The house is VERY dog friendly - while it was mostly very clean we were greeted by a ball of dog hair rolling down the hallway like tumbleweed and the oven hadn't been properly cleaned. overall best suited for dog owners who want to disconnect. Families with young kids should plan accordingly.

Great value, clean and well located property. We had a lovely stay for a family birthday weekend with my parents. The house is really warm and cosy, and has everything you need. There is a nice pub in the village (we were a little shocked by the price of the mains but won around me they were served, all home cooked and generous portions). There are some nice walks nearby including to the next village. As with many AirBnBs, supplies of toilet roll, bin bags and dishwasher tablets were a little on the sparse side. But overall would highly recommend

Really lovely house in Middlesmoor, very clean and was better than in the pictures as the furniture has been updated. Bit of confusion with the house instructions for the lockbox that was sent and actually where it was but sorted it ok. Had an issue with the radiator not heating properly in the lounge but contacted host & stay, received quick response and a heater was brought the next day. Would definitely recommend & would stay again. Thanks!

Positive: The location
Negative: We were led to believe that there was a barbecue, so we bought all barbecue food only to find there was no barbecue when we arrived. There was also a leak under the kitchen sink. The washing machine didn’t work and the bifold door was very very difficult to open.

GuestAirbnbJun 2023
The house is just as described, really modern with everything you would need which was perfect for our trip. The location is beautiful and great walks in the surrounding areas.
We had some issues with how to work things in the house and when contacting the hosts they were not helpful as our stay was during a bank holiday.
The first day the property ran out of hot water, the instructions on the property simply stated ‘hot water on demand’, and the host did not have an answer for us. We had to put the central heating was on to heat the hot water tank but it was hot outside so made the stay uncomfortable. I had to contact the host numerous times without a resolution and one person was quite rude on the phone so this was very disappointing. The oven also had no instructions and only the grill would work so we had to eat at the pub each evening.
Overall great accommodation with lack of basic requirements and bad communication from host.
GuestAirbnbApr 2023
WARNING - if you are booking this through airbnb this property requires sign up to a different set of terms and the payment of a security deposit.
Given the requirement to pay a security deposit and the expensive rate for this property I was expecting great things. Although the property was well presented it was suffering from a lack of investment in basic wear and tear. For example one of the toilets was blocked on arrival and failed to be fixed during our stay, the bath panel was detached, one of the blinds broken and some of the skirting boards falling off. The cleanliness of some areas was also lacking - we found a set of filthy bowls in the cupboard and the woodwork around the dining area was food stained.
In a cheaper property and one that was not collecting an accidental damage fee this might have been acceptable- but the house just did not live up to its advertising.
Finally the TV was advertised as having on demand services and netflix. its from 2007 and has neither.

Lovely house, had everything you need for a few days away. It's obviously quite new as everything is in great condition. Location is set in beautiful countryside and the views on the drive up are great when the skies are clear. The only slight downside is that there isn't a TV in the main lounge area with the sofas but this was a minor point as there is one in the front room with some seating. Definitely would stay again.

GuestAirbnbJul 2022
Well off the beaten track in glorious countryside. Difficult to find as the linked directions don’t take you to the house, and the house itself has no name on it. Even the nearby pub didn’t know where it was. Fortunately Host and Stay have an all hours number so at 9pm we got some help. The key box is on the back wall and not visible from the road. It’s a new build. Well appointed and comfy. Kitchen is well stocked with implements. There’s a caravan park literally over the back fence so we had caravans and their noise until late. The outside space isn’t private as the house is semi detached and the fencing between is low. The outside area is small. Great countryside though with easy access to moors. No WiFi although it’s listed as having it. No welcome guide book with helpful hints either. I’ve stayed in many many Airbnb homes- this isn’t a home, it’s a holiday let and feels like that. But it is comfy and clean and in a beautiful area.
