Fawcett Cottage is situated in a quiet location and is a short drive from York. \nPositives:\nEverything is there for a short stay. \nDogs welcome. \nNice location. \nGood heating. \nNegatives:\nShowers. \nNo where to clean dirty dogs. \nNot enough cutlery and crockery.

We loved Fawcett Cottage, perfect location, spotlessly clean, had everything we needed and a beautiful space, plus super comfy beds. The village is really quiet, with lots of nice places to walk the dogs. Our dogs are tiny so had to watch them in the garden as the gate had gaps.. only an issue for little dogs like mine that like mine but big dogs would have no issues. York and local villages are close by so within 10/15 mins you can get to a coop or local Morrisons if you wanted more than the village shop. We had the most relaxing stay and will definitely book again.

We had a lovely and comfortable few days stay. Garden good for the dogs. Easy to park, cosy cottage and comfortable beds. Tollerton is a pretty village with a good pub and great village shop for stocking up on essentials that we needed. Overall a lovely stay.

We really enjoyed our stay. Close to places to visit. The enclosed garden was ideal for dogs. The cottage was clean, comfortable and had everything you needed. Good communication and responses issued quickly. Would recommend staying here.

We wanted a dog-friendly place to stay near York so that we could visit elderly family who have recently moved into sheltered accommodation and are no longer able to host us. Fawcett Cottage fitted the bill perfectly, with a secure garden, large comfortable living area and good kitchen. The cottage was very clean when we arrived and all instructions were provided via a web link, which made it easy to check. Tollerton village is about 15/20 minutes from York and is a very quiet village, which suited us fine. The local pub is currently closed; I think there is a tea room and a small local convenience store, but we didn't use those. Location-wise, it's very convenient for the Howardian Hills, North York Moors, the Dales and many other local attractions. We would recommend Fawcett Cottage and will likely return ourselves.

Me and my family had a 4 night stay with our 2 dogs. We enjoyed our stay and can thoroughly recommend the cottage had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. We would love to return in the future.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely village with easy access to many of North Yorkshire's attractions including the popular coastal destinations. Lovely country side walks around the village and also a peaceful garden to sit and relax in. The cottage itself is spacious and immaculately clean. Very comfy beds. A well stocked village shop is a short walk away and there are also 2 pubs within easy walking distance. Would highly recommend.

Perfect girls weekend away for the York Christmas markets

Positive: Spacious, clean and comfortable Negative: Only an issue as we have a small child. A travel cot and highchair would have been super helpful so we didn't have to bring these with us 😊. Also some salt and pepper in the kitchen. Otherwise cannot fault anything and would definitely stay again

The location is lovely, very quiet and friendly village and easy access to York city centre. The homes decor is beautiful and felt very comfortable. Some disappointing aspects though. I had sent a message asking if there was a real fire, was told yes but would need to take my own logs. Was very disappointed to arrive to find a fan heater and no log burner. The other real let down was the tv. I had assumed the home had wifi, however, there is no wifi and a smart tv which couldn’t connect to our mobile data. It worked for a few hours using the Free View via the aerial but then that stopped working and we had no tv for the weekend. So our plans for Christmas movie night by the fire were well and truly scuppered. Other issue was that the well stocked kitchen didn’t have any kitchen knifes. Neither of the mirrors were secured so very dangerous with little ones running around. No restrictors on low level 1st floor windows which was unsettling with kids. Easy fixes to make 10/10

Fabulous everything you need Positive: Lovely cottage plenty of room for the three of us. A really enjoyable experience all round and the next time I come to North Yorkshire this will definitely on my list of places to stay. Negative: Nothing

Fawcett Cottage was exactly as seen in the pictures. Benefits were having off street parking to the right of the cottage and a bus stop less than a 10 minutes walk to get into York. Great that it had an enclosed garden for our dog and a couple of dog poop bins within a few minutes walk either side of the cottage. Beds were very comfortable and all appliances worked. There isn’t anything to complain about. The Sidings restaurant and hotel does amazing food as does the Chinese restaurant The New Inn in Huby a short drive from the cottage. The village shop has such an array of goods that you’d need a trolley rather than a basket. The Yorkshire pasty was amazing. We’d definitely come back.

It was such a comfortable stay, and such a pretty cottage, in a quiet village, and with a beautiful garden. There were 4 of us, including teenage twins and we had plenty of space. There are a couple of bits that would make the kitchen ven better, like a pizza slicer, air fryer, more cleaning materials, but the appliances were all perfect. Everything was clean and well-presented. Lovely big TV to watch... It was pretty much perfect. We were visiting family in Wetherby and will definitely be back next year.

Our second stay at Fawcett Cottage and didn’t disappoint. We love it. They had even taken on our feedback and added chicken wire to the wooden gates so our tiny dogs couldn’t escape the garden. Immaculately clean, everything you need, super comfy beds and lovely towels and bedding. We last visited in December when there was a lot of flooding in the surrounding area but this visit we got to explore all the local walks on your doorstep Great location for Boroughbridge, Harrogate and York. So much close by. We will be booking again very soon as visit friends in the area regularly.

A beautiful and peaceful location, set in a small village driveable to some great Yorkshire locations. A nice garden which is safe for dogs. Comfortable and relaxing accommodation to return to after a busy day and a great place to switch off and unwind

We stayed at the property to visit York for the week, well located for days out in the area. Great property with a good sized garden for the kids to play

Well appointed property that was perfect for us to visit relatives. Positive: Clean, well laid out property with ample space. Off road parking available. Sufficient kitchen utensils, facilities etc sufficient for our needs. Beds were comfy. Overall a great little find. Negative: Nothing in particular comes to mind.

Perfect for a short stay (we were meeting family). It might be a bit quiet for some. Positive: Tollerton is a large, attractive village with some nice walks. There is an excellent community shop where you can buy most things. Negative: Unfortunately, there's nowhere to eat out. The pub in the village has closed down.

The stay was great and would happily book again, really lovely property and location Positive: Great location and had everything you could want on site Negative: It would be great if the outside furniture cushions where put away until guests arrived as it had rained before we arrive and they were sodden and could not be used. I believe guests would be happy to take them out of storage and put them away as necessary to keep them dry and fit for usage. It would also be good to have none slip mat for the showers my elderly mother needs this to feel safe

Einfach ein Home away from Home. Selten so ein tolles,sauberes Haus gesehen. Auch sehr modern mit Fußbodenhrizung. Sehr bequemen Betten. Garten komplett eingezeunt, Parkplatz direkt im Garten. Es war fasst perfekt :) Wie einige Zuvor geschrieben haben wenig Küchenzubehör und der Wasserdruck in den Duschen nicht toll. Ansonsten top, sehr ruhige Lage Küchenzubehör,grTöpfe

Absolutely gorgeous cottage in a very peaceful village. Perfect location for visits to Knaresborough, Wetherby, York and a few other attractions we visited. The cottage had everything we needed, was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Bed comfortable, great showers/bath and thoughtful provision of toiletries. We would 100% stay again and would recommend to anyone enquiring about staying here.

Good cottage in great location. Positive: Great location. Lovely garden. Plenty of hot water. Free Netflix/Prime. Well equipped kitchen. Negative: Beds were not very comfortable. Ashtray outside hadn't been emptied. Broadband code didn't work. Not as much car parking as led to believe. My main bug bear was Host and Stay. So many emails before stay selling us more stuff. Poor response times on important things and automated, completely lacking in personality, emails before, during and after our stay.

Shame for the onwers of this beautiful house being portrayed dirty and not maintained adequately. Positive: The property location and the property itself. The garden area and the off road parking. Negative: Managed by HOST & STAY DIRTY ON ARRIVAL. Poo marks left in main toilet, Dirty oven, sticky worktops, Paw marks on patio doors and stairs ( we dont have a dog). On arrival on the Saturday we found the shower in the en-suite did not drain away and although we reported it to Host and Stay immediately no one could come until the Monday. We went out on the Monday and the plumber rang us about 5pm to say it was sorted but not to use it for another 24 hours- so Tuesday night and also that there was water stains on the downstairs ceiling where the water had come through during the repair. No cleaning products, broken crockery, stained mugs, Large cobwebs, no hairdryer which was meant to be available. ( Listed) Two electric hobs had been left switched on.

Fawcett Cottge is located in a very quiet neighbourhood and was the perfect location for York and the surrounding area. The cottage is spacious, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. It had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The lovely garden is a bonus, we enjoyed the evenings out there. Communication with the host was great, very informative, friendly and responsive. I can definitely recommend this place and would be happy to stay again.

Lovely peaceful cottage close to countryside but close to amenities too. Positive: Lovely cottage, quality furniture and fittings, spacious, everything you need provided. Lovely garden! Negative: Parking was difficult - a very narrow road. We had a van which would have churned up grass at side of property and a car was already parked immediately opposite the property, despite understanding there was space for two cars. Glasses in kitchen cabinet too high to reach without standing on a chair!!

We had a great stay here, the cottage was everything we needed and more for the short time we were here. The cottage itself was very cosy, comfortable and modern. The surrounding area was quiet and beautiful and only a 20min drive from York city centre. The guidebook provided beforehand was a nice touch, very informative and clear instructions about the cottage. I would highly recommend this cottage and will definitely stay again in the future

We stayed at Fawcett Cottage for 5 days. The cottage was lovely - modern, clean, cosy and comfortable. It had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The guide book was very informative and gave us lots of help for our visit. The village of Tollerton is small and quiet with not a lot to do but we were aware of that before we booked so we were prepared to drive to our activities. The cottage isideally located for what we wanted to do including an action packed day in York! We will definitely stay again!

I am extremely disappointed by what happened with this booking. As we were about to board the boat at Belfast we received a phone call to say our Airbnb had cancelled our stay. First of all I thought it was a scam as they left it so late to inform us. When we arrived in Cairnryan we spent an hour trying to find other suitable accommodation. We asked you for similar arrangements and what you sent us was a down right disgrace. In face it was an insult to suggest we would stay in a tent!! The other two properties consisted of a one double bed room in someone’s house. What a distressing time it was at the start of our holiday. Here we were sitting in Scotland not knowing where we were going. I had also spent time before we left of working out mileage etc from Tollerton to various places. It was an absolute nightmare and I wouldn’t recommend this service to anyone. I also paid £25 to cover us with insurance and I’m still waiting for this to be refunded. I hope this payment will come soon.

The house is absolutely gorgeous, we felt right at home and loved that we had parking. All of the locals were so lovely as well. There isn’t much to do in walking distance but a 20 min car ride and your day is filled. My whole experience with Host & Stay has been wonderful. The communication was great and the welcome package they send on checkin was exceptional, it contained everything you could possibly need about the property and the local area too. We would definitely stay again.
