Egton Bridge is situated within the Sandbeck, a large, fully renovated seafront Victorian house located on Whitby’s West Cliff overlooking the beach and outer harbour. It proudly boasts the best apartments, studios and guest rooms in Whitby with the best sea views.

Egton Bridge is a Sandbeck favourite with a beautiful open-plan double room with an ensuite shower room and a separate viewing area with big bay windows.

The viewing area offers panoramic views along the beach to Sandsend point and across Whitby’s two piers and outer harbour.

This bright, modernly decorated first-floor open plan room comes with a standard double bed and a shower, WC and wash basin.

The viewing room has a comfortable two-seater sofa facing out to sea and is a great place to put your feet up and relax. You can take in the views or just sip a drink and watch the world go by.

The area

The Sandbeck is on the seafront of Whitby’s West Cliff. It is in a central location for the beach, harbour and many of Whitby’s attractions. It is a short walk to Captain Cook’s Monument and the Famous Whalebones overlooking the harbour.

Walk a little further and down the Khyber Pass steps and you’ll be at the harbour and the quayside with all its amusements, cafes, bars and famous fish and chips shops and restaurants. Alternatively take a stroll along the West Pier and look back at your accommodation on the West Cliff.

To the front is the path down to the Blue Flag West Cliff beach and the Whitby Pavilion with its many events.

The town centre and all its shops, cafes and restaurants are close by.

Whitby is easily accessible by road and rail, making it an ideal base for exploring the surrounding areas. Whether you're looking to explore the nearby coastal villages, or simply relax and enjoy the tranquil seaside atmosphere, Whitby offers something for everyone.

Whitby Train Station is located in the town centre and has direct services to Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees, Hartlepool, Seaham, Sunderland, Newcastle, Prudhoe and Hexham.

Several bus routes operate in Whitby offering direct access to Guisborough, Leeds, Loftus, Middlesbrough, Scarborough and York.

Teesside International Airport is 45 miles away from Whitby.

“Absolutely loved our stay. The views were beautiful, the bed, comfortable. A communal fridge/freezer, with milk, fruit juice and yogurts was a great addition. There was cereal, a selection of teas and coffees to help yourself to. Wifi and smart TV were great. Only issues we had were check in, as we weren’t given the apartment name, just the address of the building. However I did call the number provided with the check in text and they were quick to answer and help us. The apartment was an unusual layout, the bathroom was visible from the bed and you had to walk through it to get to the window nook. There was very little privacy, only one curtain to separate the bathroom and the nook. An additional curtain to separate the bathroom/bedroom would have resolved this issue. It’d also resolve the issue of light waking you up at sunrise, as the curtain and blind in the bathroom weren’t completely black out. These small issues wouldn’t stop us booking again as overall, our stay was fantastic”
