Nice enough place but really disappointed with the cleanliness of the cottage. It was easier to clean myself so my family felt comfortable eating and using bathrooms etc Zero effort from whoever cleans such a shame….

Nice enough place but really disappointed with the cleanliness of the cottage. It was easier to clean myself so my family felt comfortable eating and using bathrooms etc Zero effort from whoever cleans such a shame….
Charming little cottage with beautiful garden Positive: The cottage was very cosy and very charming with a beautiful shared garden ideal for a family of 4. The cottage has two bathrooms and two bedrooms. The kitchen is well equipped and a laundry machine is available. Negative: The ceiling of the bed rooms are very low and the floor of the bathroom downstairs needs to be renewed. I would recommend to cover the garden furniture as it was full of bird poop when we arrived.
We were a family of four who enjoyed a lovely three-day stay. The location was fantastic, and the cabin was spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was narrow, but we managed by moving the table against the wall. Upon arrival, we discovered a significant number of spiders, estimated between 50 and 100, that we had to remove ourselves. There were also cobwebs in several corners. We contacted the host, who responded quickly and was very accommodating. They arranged for an extra cleaning the next day. However, it seemed their focus remained on the floors, not the spider issue. We wanted to use the fireplace but couldn’t find any matches. There was also no laundry detergent, which was disappointing after a week in Scotland. Toilet paper was limited too, though that could probably have been resolved with another message to the host. A big plus was the available first aid kit, it actually came in handy when I cut myself on a shell along the Pilgrims’ Way Causeway Footpath.
This is a beautiful cottage which is an ideal size for a family of 4. The location on Lindisfarne is great, although it’s a bit hard to find. It would be helpful if the instructions told you that it is at the end of a row of cottages, accessed via the gardens of the other houses. The beds are very comfortable and it was great that logs for the fire were provided, this was much appreciated. However, the cottage was let down by the cleanliness. The kitchen in particular was not as clean as I would expect, dirty cupboards and grimy bin for example and there was a lot of dust on ornaments and surfaces. I was also not keen on the AI messages from the management company, I found the messages too frequent and not helpful when I actually needed some information. Having said that, this is a lovely cottage in a great location and I would stay again if the cleaning was improved.
Magical making memories with family Positive: Provided own breakfast. Easy to get keys, having been given the code prior to arrival. Very quaint and cosy. Good to have 2 toilets, despite the upstairs 'bathroom' being bijou and compact Negative: Kitchen units a bit tired. Freezer cover kept opening when fridge opened. Plenty of utensils, crockery and glasses Nothing that wasn't surmountable.
Excellent comfortable cottage in great location Positive: Everything was wonderful - extremely comfortable beds, quiet, central and pretty location in the centre of the village. A short walk to pubs and the stunning coastline. Incredible views. Just love Lindisfarne and this is a perfect house for two couples. Negative: The need for £250 deposit.
Lovely cottage and area. Will be back. Positive: Me and my partner stayed in the cottage last year and loved it. The location. The cottage itself is lovely inside and outside. Sitting outside feeding the birds in the morning sun was lovely. Snuggled up with the fire on in evening was as lovely. Facilities were spot on. Cleanliness also. Reason we stayed here again this year was because we loved it. Negative: Unfortunately on arrival we noticed damp coming through wall on staircase. When I investigated further the control unit for ensuite shower was hanging off leaving a hole to pipe work behind it. Contacted maintenance explaining this. Was informed someone would be out next morning. No one ever arrived. We were still happy to stay as damp was not severe and think it's been damage from that shower on otherside of wall. We had the bigger bathroom downstairs. It didn't effect anything and we still enjoyed our stay. Just bit disappointed no one even told us about this.
This is a charming property on a beautiful and natural island. The two of us had a great time exploring and being able to come back to a comfortable house to rest was very pleasant.
We had a great few days at Eden Cottage on Holy Island. Walked around the island in glorious sunshine (!) and saw lots of wildlife including ringed plover, heron, various other waders, seals and deer. Cottage is in a fantastic location really close to pubs and gift shops.
Great Location! Positive: The property was in one of the best locations on the island and had lovely walks from the door step. It was also a short distance from the local attractions and land marks, cafes and pubs and beaches. The property had a comfortable lounge and the bed in the main bedroom was very comfortable. The shared garden was very pretty and had a large table for dining outside. Negative: The garden furniture was in need of a good wipe down before we could use it and there was a water hose left out , which was a trip hazard. The kitchen is in need of an update and some TLC as some of the cupboard doors were chipped and this was slightly off putting when preparing food. Also we could only find one wooden chopping board, which is quite unhygienic. When the sun was shining, we noticed that the downstairs windows were very dirty on the outside, which spoilt the view to the garden.
Peaceful and pretty location Positive: lovely position on holy island. Beautiful spring garden to sit in , although in the centre very peaceful. close to brilliant pubs and restaurants Negative: parking so highly converted, once we had our space we felt we couldn't drive anywhere. Although it was a busy Easter weekend
We had a wonderful, relaxing break. Positive: Beautiful cottage, very comfortable and clean. Great location, everything within walking distance. We were there at the beginning of December and it was fairly quiet, which suited us. It was cold outside but very cosy indoors. An added bonus was that my sister and I got most of our Christmas shopping done in the lovely gift shops on the island - much better than rushing about in a crowded town centre! Negative: I honestly can't think of any way the cottage could have been better.
Perfect place to stay (make sure you can access docs beforehand) Positive: We loved the house and location, it was magical to stay on Lindisfarne. Gorgeous decoration, and we loved having the board games and smart TV! Beds were insanely comfortable, would love to stay again. Negative: We booked the stay somewhat spontaneously while on our honeymoon and were out of wifi range. Having never stayed with Host & Stay before we didn't realise any paperwork had been sent over so by the time we realised, we were on Lindisfarne with no data and 1 bar of signal. We rang Host & Stay to try and figure it out, who told us to drive to Alnwick for reliable signal (and didn't seem to realise Lindisfarne was tidal so would be impassable in an hour and kept texting us links we could not access due to no data). It took two phone calls and 45 minutes to sort out how to find the keys and lockbox code when it was freezing outside, and 1 of us was immunosuppressed. When we finally got the lockbox location, it wasn't even locked. A lot of faff for no reason, which slightly spoiled the arrival. Also we could not get the main bedroom blind to stay shut for love nor money but we didn't mind too much as the days were quite dark, but I imagine it would be more of a problem on lighter days.
Beautiful small cottage located in the heart of the village. Felt very romantic and cosy. Exactly what we were looking for as a family this autumn. Very comfortable and had a good rest. I Didn’t mind the low ceilings but my husband did 🤣 , something that can easily be negotiated if you’re aware. Loved all the local art, books and games provided… It is a lovely space and perfect for coming back to after a day of exploring. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Thank you x
Lovely well-equipped cottage, in a great location with easy access to pubs, shops and attractions. The cottage was clean with all facilities, central heating and a fire. The cottage was lovely and warm when we arrived. The location was quiet and peaceful (autumn time.) As 4 adults bringing their own food, we struggled for space in the small fridge, which only had a small freezer box. Also, the on-suite shower was very narrow and the adjoining sink was of no use , other than hand washing, as it was too small in width. However, we had a lovely relaxing stay and I would definitely recommend it.
A cosy hideaway on the island of tides. Positive: Comfortable and very well laid out. Wonderful kitchen and the garden eating area made for a lovely sheltered and memorable evening meal with friends. Quiet, even when the tides of visitors flowed. A tucked away gem.
On the whole we had an excellent stay in a location we love. Apart from the above our stay was perf. Positive: Location was perfect. Cottage was beautiful and comfortable. Negative: Bedding had dog hairs on it and bedding was a little tatty. Key code was not sent and took time to receive code.
Over-priced, shoddy accommodation Positive: Lindisfarne is an iconic island - we love it. Eden Cottage is ideally situated, on a quiet snicket in the centre of the village. It has the potential to be a wonderful place to stay. Negative: The booking agents do not appear to have visited Lindisfarne. The cottage was poorly maintained and only cursorily 'cleaned', with frankly unsanitary conditions in the shower room. Supplies such as toilet rolls were for a single week when we had booked for 3 weeks. It is marketed by Host & Stay as a "Luxury Cottage" but the only luxury element was the price. We would advise future customers to give Host & Stay a wide berth. Go to visit visitlindisfarne.com for a good selection of much better priced accommodation. We submitted a complaint on 27th September and are still awaiting a response.
Very disappointed !!!! Positive: The location Negative: Not very clean at all, bathrooms were dirty, tap loose in en suite, shower room downstairs was smelly and dirty and the tiles were raised and dangerous on the floor!! No wardrobe at all in main bedroom and one small cupboard in the other bathroom , wall going upstairs was a mess paint and plaster peeling off, wall by the boiler was filthy with black finger marks and cobwebs, we moved a table in the lounge near where the logs are kept and that was thick of dust and dirt, this was a special occasion we went but we were very disappointed!! And very over priced for what we got! This cottage needs a lot of TLC
A pretty cottage but our whole stay was marred as there was no wifi connection. although it stated in our welcome pack there would be. This took up endless time contacting the office to try and sort this problem which we ultimately could not achieve leaving us all very frustrated. We had saved up for this birthday treat for a long time..very disappointed.
A girlie weekend in a beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. The weather was also amazing, which added to our weekend. Lovely little garden for alfresco dining, very private. Cottage looking tired in some areas. Furnishings very good, overall an excellent stay. Would love to return next year.
Honeymoon perfection Positive: Eden Cottage was the perfect place for a few days downtime after our wedding. We wanted somewhere comfortable with a log burner within 100 yards of a pub. Eden Cottage absolutely delivered. Negative: There was nothing not to like. Two showers (one en suite, one in a downstairs wet room) arguably meant we were missing a bath, but we couldn't see where you'd get one in.
We had a very comfortable and restful stay. We would be very happy to stay again Positive: The property was lovely and warm, beds were so comfortable. The property had everything you need for a lovely stay. Negative: This was NOT a deal Breaker! Kept bumping my head on the low beams in the bedrooms so watch out. Although the property was clean we did find some black hairs in a couple of the beds😬
We found Eden Cottage to be a lovely, peaceful, comfortable place to stay, with everything you could need on hand. Parking nearby was easy to come by for us. The charming outside area is lovely and welcoming and well-tended. We felt the property was very clean throughout , well laid-out, with quality items in all rooms. Beds were comfortable, as was the lounge, the kitchen had everything you could need, and bathrooms were both good. Just wish we’d known there was a Nespresso machine - some pods were thankfully provided, though ( - although a very good coffee shop selling freshly roasted coffee is very nearby - glad we’d brought our old-fashioned filter-cone) . Eden Cottage is very well-placed on the island : The Priory is a couple of minutes walk away, and there are cafes, shops, pubs, restaurants and other places to visit all nearby. We easily walked to the Castle and back from here. We’d be delighted to come back.
Holy Island is lovely in winter. This cottage was expensive, but did not meet expectations. Positive: Lovely cottage in a lovely location, quiet and close to all amenities. Negative: Cleanliness and maintenance was poor. Dirty items in kitchen. Microwave sparked when we used it. Dust and cobwebs in various areas. Blind in main bedroom didn't stay down. Bed sheets had marks on and holes. Arrived in snow and cold, but no logs or kindling had been brought in, or fire set. Log burner is though ineffective.
Nice cottage, fantastic private location
Nice relaxing and homely cottage Positive: Good location Homely decor Beds were comfy Negative: It wasn’t as clean as it could have been. Customer service for the property weren’t the most helpful. Shower tiles in the wet room were unstable. The stairs could do with a little bit of a paint on the walls. The spare key wasn’t kept in the lock box and customer service wasn’t aware of the spare key. Instructions of where to park weren’t the most clear .
Cosy cottage Positive: Very cosy cottage, spacious and well equipped Negative: Didn't realise you have to walk through the muddy gardens of the neighbouring cottages to reach the door and it was pitch black at night! There was a power cut on the island during the last night, so couldn't see to have a shower in the morning and obviously couldn't make drinks or breakfast so had to leave earlier than we wanted to get some. Battery powered lanterns.or torches would've been useful.
Holy Island is glorious and Eden Cottage is perfectly situated. We’ve stayed before and notice the decline. It’s a beautiful little space but in need of some love and investment.
We loved our stay at Eden cottage. We go back to Holy Island every year and love our times there. This is a very cute and private cottage. Is needs a few things sorted but all in all it’s a very nice place to stay compared to many of the houses we’ve stayed at over the years.
A beautiful and peaceful location, we absolutely loved it, thank you!
Perfect Positive: Beautifully decorated Negative: Nothing
Eden cottage is the perfect location for a peaceful holy island stay. The outside space is lovely for enjoying the sunshine and the cottage is well equipped. We loved being so close to the beach for a stroll and Pilgrims for great coffee and ice cream. Sadly, the property was not clean on our arrival. The beds and linen were clean and very comfortable however, the bathrooms were dirty and could do with some attention. I did contact host and stay about the cleanliness and they offered to send a cleaner, however with less than 24 hours left of our two night stay, it seemed pointless. We loved the location of the property but it definitely lacked the personal touch we are accustomed to when staying in AirBnbs. With a good, thorough clean I could recommend the cottage as a great holy island base.
Great house and wonderful location on Holy Island. Cleaning team were wonderful with helping us. I did wonder whether the responses I received were bot or generically generated because the information. provided to me about the information/ heritage centre was factually incorrect. A radio in the kitchen would've been a nice touch.
Lovely island, lovely weather, happy two days Positive: Situation, garden, comfortable beds. Negative: It is tired - the staircase needs painting, there is nowhere to put clothes in the double room and a very messy mat in the passage. This charming cottage deserves a face lift.
An island sanctuary. Positive: Location was amazing. The outside seating area was beautiful. The inside was furnished to a high standard and was comfortable and homely.
Very nice, great location but some practical issues with the upper floor Positive: Location is in the centre of the village and close to everything. Downstairs is well appointed and very comfortable Negative: The bed rooms upstairs are spacious but have a very low ceiling with beams making it difficult getting in and out of bed. The ensuite is a marvel of space management so if you are tall you will be using the bathroom downstairs.
Lovely cottage in a beautiful peaceful location. No chest of drawers in the main bedroom and very little storage in the kitchen and only a small freezer (in the fridge)
Overall a very nice, well-equipped property. Very well situated, would stay again. Positive: Excellent quiet location in village centre. Pretty well kept garden with very good outside seating. Spacious, comfortable sitting room and kitchen. Comfortable beds. Negative: En suite bathroom small but adequate. Low beams in bedrooms-just be careful!
Lovely place to stay, a bit let down by issues mentioned which other reviews also stated(not improve Positive: Loveiy property in ideal location. Negative: Decor very tired, peeling paint, wet room not used due to dirty floor and uneven floor tiles, mouldy sealant around kitchen sink and bathroom wash basin, bottom bed sheet torn. Had to buy washing up liquid, kitchen towel, cling film.
Positive: Location was excellent. Negative: The place was not cleaned to a satifactory standard.
Positive: Location Negative: Internet connection was not correct
Enjoyed staying at Eden Cottage. Found Holy Island peaceful and welcoming. Everyone was approachable, friendly and proactive and I was very happy with the service.
Lovely location, but Host and Stay need to get their act together with repairing essential items. Positive: The place was in a good location for the island and the property was warm and comfortable. Negative: We did not have hot running water when we arrived. Despite a number of phone calls to Host and Stay and a visit from one of their ‘engineers’ we did not have hot running water until our penultimate day. I can appreciate that a boiler can fail, but to be promised for three days in a row by Host and Stay that it will be fixed and then not have it fixed is, for me, unacceptable.
Superb location, lovely quaint cottage, very definitely let down by a sloppy management company/owner. Positive: This was a lovely quaint property, very badly let down by the lack of maintenance and some cleaning. Bedrooms were comfy, although even at 5ft2 I couldn’t stand up getting out of the double bed due to the angular roof. The kitchen/diner and the lounge were a good size and well decorated. The wood burning stove in the lounge was great for the evening. The kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of pots. The little garden at the front was a sun trap and lovely to sit in. The location was superb. Negative: The upstairs en-suite had a broken shower in it, which apparently had been damaged for a long time. We were not advised of this at the time of booking or subsequently and when we reported it on arrival got no answer for two days and then just a glib “we know” email. Consequent to the damage the wall was visibly damp in the stairwell. We were not offered any compensation for the lack of facilities. Had we known in advance that this was not fixed we would not have booked this particular cottage. Additionally, the downstairs wet room showed no signs of having been cleaned as there was hair left on the drain.
Lovely little cottage. The downstairs shower room was a but run down. The kitchen was lovely and very well equipped . Fantastic location. The overhead beams upstairs are very low. I hit my head multiple times and only 5ft, beware if tall.
We spent a glorious week in the very appropriately named Eden Cottage in Paradise Row- it couldn't have been more perfect. Communications were fantastic and the cottage was so cosy with everything you could possibly need, local pubs with fab food and the most amazing scenery and night skies. We'd come for a bit of a retreat and both the island and the cottage were just what we needed. This is a very special place, Thank you... we'd definitely love to come back
Positive: Second stay here. Beautiful cottage. Clean warm. Negative: My main problem was the shower in ensuite. It's dangerous!! It is broken and I was scalded. Following trying it I saw that this has been mentioned in the visitors book a few times. No problem with only one shower...but please label it for safety!
One of our favorite places to stay
A lovely place that we have known for a few years however this was the first time staying.
A very relaxing cosy environment to come home to Positive: Lovely warm and cozy cottage
Nice cozy, well equipped cottage in a great location Would definitely stay there again
Lovely property in the stunning location of Holy Island. Host and Stay were helpful and there were nice touches like the log burner being made up for us. Great kitchen/diner
love it . Positive: Everything was perfect. Negative: Hard to find.
We had a fabulous few days. Positive: The location was brilliant - very private, but this didn't come across in the description. The cottage is at the end of a row of 4 cottages, through a gate. No vehicles or people going past. There was lots of kindling, paper and logs for the fire. The kitchen is very well set up. The living room was very comfortable and the beds were super comfy. Negative: The en-suite shower upstairs was permanently on very hot water and could not be turned down. Someone in the guest book has previously mentioned this, but it's still broken - and could cause injury due to the high temperature of the water. In the downstairs wetroom, the flooring is uneven and looks and smells mouldy. The rug in the living room looks dirty and stained and needs cleaning or replacing. The soap dispenser in the wetroom was empty and the clock in the kitchen didn't work. There was a folder for info, but it seemed incomplete. The windows were filthy - I cleaned them myself!! They looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in weeks and gave the cottage a run-down look. Most of these are very minor points and could be readily put right - it's often the attention to detail that users of cottages look for. Apart from this it was lovely.
A comfortable cottage in an ideal location on Holy Island. Positive: Wonderful location with a very pleasant garden area to the front. Plenty of space inside the property. The kitchen was well equipped. Negative: Arriving in the dark (as most guests will from November to late February) is difficult as there is no outside light or security light that works over the door. This also makes the key safe hard to find in the dark. There were a couple of issues with cleanliness which I reported separately to the managers. While the cottage is comfortable, the cottage fittings in kitchen and shower rooms could do with some maintenance or updating.
Positive: A beautiful, cosy and comfy little cottage so we would definitely stay again. Negative: Perhaps could be a little cleaner. Mouldy bathroom (just needs some attention on the grouting to wet room), crumbs and bits on the floor in certain areas like entrance and lounge and hair found in kitchen cupboard.
We’ve stayed here a couple of times. Great little cosy cottage right in the centre of the village. Well equipped. Only slight criticism was that one of the showers was too hot and it was impossible to turn it down. Also some of the cushions in the living room were dirty. I’ve fed back to the hosts and they’ve agreed to sort these issues. Would still stay again.
Relax Lovely cottage.
lovely cottage but had to leave by ten quite early because we could not leave the island till 1
Place is really great. The numerous automated emails from Host and Stay make them impersonal though. They asked for the extra compulsory insurance several times after we actually took it, and e-mails were very bot-type.
Negative: The only negative was that the television signal was not always good, and i player/prime video was quite slow sometimes. Otherwise no complaints.
A wonderful peaceful cottage in a splendid location. Positive: Eden Cottage is a wonderful cosy and comfortable place to stay. The kitchen is very well equipped and a good size. Loved the quirky extras i.e. the highland cow and large candle holders in the kitchen and the 'fairy lights' around the front door. Comfortable sitting room with large sofa's. Quite spacious. Beds provided a wonderful nights sleep. Negative: Maybe a larger table in the sitting room. The 'wet room' could have had somewhere near the sink to put shower bags etc. Dressing table in the larger bedroom. Otherwise we had no complaints at all.
The cottage is lovely. Great location. Nice furniture . However, the property was really let down by very poor cleanliness and some inaccuracy in the description. There is neither a dryer nor a garage (a garden outbuilding is not a garage). There was used gum in the bedside drawers, dust and spiders everywhere, grimy hard floors and blocked drains. The host management company did nothing to properly engage with the cleaning issues or reimburse me for the drain products I bought and merely thanked me for my efforts to clean.
Positive: Super location . Beautiful garden. Great kitchen. Well equipped. Negative: Key safe fiddly and difficult to work.
Excellent will definitely stay again!
Lovely cottage in a great location Positive: Beautiful cottage, very clean and well equipped, in a great location. Negative: The ceilings upstairs are very low in places - a couple of bumped heads! But to be expected in a cosy little cottage.
Peaceful Positive: Location was perfect Negative: It would have been good to know access was through shared gardens
Eden Cottage was cosy and warm on a very windy weekend. We really enjoyed it.
Cosy, did not want to leave Perfect little cottage Positive: Cosy, clean and everything you need for a weekend stay. Loved all the books. Negative: Dangerous coming back from pub as little garden pitch black, had to feel our way to door. Needs some solar lights. Did not like the unexpected £25payment needed at end of booking.
Positive: A fantastically location in a perfectly presented, comfortable cottage. Negative: The ensuite is very small and ceilings upstairs low.
Positive: Plenty of room in a good location
Lovely place Positive: Fantastic location Negative: Bed was very comfy and the whole of the house was welcoming.
Had a wonderful time at the cottage and Holy Island. Host was really responsive and proactive in communication and Information. Both the cottage and holy island were beautiful, would recommend and stay again. Thank you
Great cottage and always wonderful to enjoy the peace of Holy Island.
Lovely place to stay on Holy Island! Kept us warm and content. Would recommended to family and friends.
Absolutely well equipped and tasteful furniture and accessories . The added touches of a prepared log fire was very thoughtful too
Very impressed, cottage is so warm and the log burner is great in the evenings. Highly recommend and would return again.
Totally perfect. Positive: Loved the downstairs layout and the really roomy sitting room with the gorgeous log burner. And that is is excluded so no traffic.the beds are super comfy Negative: Only that we struggled to find it but I rang the helpline number and they were fantastic
We had a very relaxing, comfortable stay.
A lovely private location yet right in the centre of the village. Lovely interior and facilities. Great walk to Lindisfarne Priory, Castle etc. NB beams in main bedroom are quite low. Not an issue for me as I’m short (5’4”) but you have to remember to duck! A lovely stay
Nice cottage, stay spoiled and stress leading up to our stay with dealing with Host and Stay Positive: Good location, heating good, we didn’t light the fire as warm enough. Cottage as a stand alone let is very good. Negative: Take a torch as outside is very dark at the time of year we stayed, mid Nov. I can’t recommend anyone book any accommodation with Host and Stay due to their current requirement, which are: you provide a third party with your personal details including photographic evidence, you allow the third party to take from your credit card £250 upfront plus a £10 admin. You will, if no damage is reported, only get back £250 but not the £10 admin charge. On booking.com the damage waiver is mentioned in the important information, only in the very small print is the admin charge mentioned but not how much it is, there is also no mention of the requirement to sign up to a third party organisation(Superhog). See reviews of Superhog online to make an informed decision on this organisation.
Positive: The accommodation was just perfect. Idyllic setting, beautifully decorated and superbly equipped.
Cosy and peaceful cottage with the most comfortable beds.
Lovely cosy cottage in a wonderful location. Very clean and comfortable. We were very unlucky with the weather unfortunately but it was great to come back to a lovely warm place and the wood burning fire!
Fantastic Positive: Tranquil location and a sun trap hidden from other visitors to the island but right in the middle of everything
Wonderful stay in a magical location. Positive: Very well equipped house and very comfortable. The decor was pleasing. Everything was clean and fresh. Lovely garden where we were able to sit out and beautiful location, just a step away from a lovely walk. Negative: No problems
Positive: Beautiful cottage in the centre of the village. Really beautifully furnished, comfy beds and great showers! Negative: If you're over 6 ft the bedrooms and ensuite will be a bit awkward due to the pitch of the roof.
Great position with a lovely garden. Extremely peaceful. The house was spotlessly clean and very comfortable.
Eden Cottage is a beautiful, well designed and well maintained property situated in a quiet row (Paradise Row!) in the centre of the village. The only drawback is that the exposed roof joists in both bedrooms are just at the right height for the average person to sustain daily concussions if you are not alert. My other criticism is Host & Stay's requirement of additional insurance which is both onerous (forms, cost, failed links) and unnecessary as AirBB has its own policy coverage.
This is a comfortable and well-appointed cottage. The sheltered garden with good furniture is almost an extra room. The kitchen is very good with a scrubbed wood table and comfortable chairs. It is well enough equipped that one could cook almost anything in it. The sitting room is comfortable but rather lacking natural light, the sofas and chairs over-provided with large cushions. The bedrooms are comfortable, but up a steep stair and with limited headroom and projecting beams under the roof slope. That could be a significant problem to the stiff and elderly or the very tall; we managed with a occasional knock. The en-suite is very small. The shelf over the small basin makes it difficult to shave or clean one’s teeth. The downstairs wet-room though is very good and comfortable.
Beautiful and very special property - perfect for a retreat and to experience the Island. The whole property was brilliantly maintained and thoughtfully designed. Everything that we needed. Loved it! Felt very private and tranquil
