Enjoyed my stay with my dog in the beautiful home away from home. Lots of walks on the doorstep and on the foot of the moors. Local dog friendly pubs and amenities to hand too
Positive: The location was great Nicely decorated throughout , massive beds Shower was great, Dishwasher was really handy , plus a decent fridge freezer Also pet friendly Negative: Really Uncomfortable sofa . No garden Parking was basically pot luck Not much choice of utensils in the kitchen basically a wooden spoon, spatula, and tin opener On the upside good excuse not to cook
First time we have rented a holiday home. Dog friendly and all attractions close by.
Very good and we would come again Positive: Very comfortable and clean. Beds were excellent as were the showers. Linen and towels very good. Negative: No WiFi was disappointing. As we are all over 70 a handle over the bath would have been good to aid standing for the shower.
Lovely property but sadly won't book again due to a couple of things that didn't match what we like Positive: Spacious bedrooms, lovely bathroom beside each bedroom. All very clean and lovely decor. Very close to centre for eating out. Negative: The living space was the same size as the bedroom space so felt a bit enclosed. No outdoor area to use (the area at the backdoor was more of a back alley so didn't feel comfortable sitting out). Also stairs were a bit challenging for my elderly dad, he did manage but a proper pole to hold on to would have worked better than what was there as you couldn't grip this well
Near Perfect apart from the rugs as mentioned thank you Positive: Bedrooms are spacious. Nice showers and very hot water. Negative: Rugs in the bedroom are a trip hazard especially in the top room because they were ruffled up instead of sitting flat. I was worried for my pensioner mum in the night. Tried to straighten them but the furniture was too heavy to lift. So had to leave them as they were. It would be better with smaller ones so they sit flat.
Lovely house in a lovely location Positive: Third time of staying in this lovely house in a great location for exploring the N.Yorks Moors. We find the house comfortable, with all the facilities we require. Basic supplies ( washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, tea towel, milk sachets in fridge) were provided Lovely, comfortable, big beds with crisp, clean linen; ample storage space in the bedrooms and hairdryer is provided. We like having the 2 bathrooms and the option of a shower or bath. (toilet paper provided) The house is a short walk to the main street in Kirkbymoorside where there’s a Spar and a Co-op, bakery, fantastic butcher shop, post office. It is also a short walk to the local golf club – which hosts a great Sunday carvery. The dining rooms of the Royal Oak Inn at Gillamoor, a five minute drive, is well worth a visit.
Great stay, would recommend Positive: Location to Golf Club
Family trip with pooch Positive: Loved the house, was quirky and clean. Nice little touches, soap, shower gel, tea towel and cloth and dish washer tablets. Very quiet even though on the road. Access was very easy, all information was provided. Negative: The sofa needs replacing. It has wheels on the front and if you don't sit directly at the back it tips slightly. Could have done with an egg slice to get eggs out of the pan. One frying pan needs replacing
Perfect location and property for our family stay , when you stay in a cottage and it immediately feels comfortable and Positive: We found it clean , warm and comfortable . Pretty much what we had expected and hoped for . Negative: There was nothing not to like about Dale End .
Really loved this cottage! Comfy furniture and great location for a hiking base.
Lovely, cosy cottage great for walkers! Positive: Lovely cottage, great location for local attractions very cosy and the beds are super comfortable. Negative: There were 4 of us in our party but there were only 3 bar stools - so made eating together tricky. Just missing a few basics in the kitchen like an oven glove and salt/pepper. Access to the Wi-Fi would have been even better.
Lovely cottage in great location Positive: Great location and a cute cottage with very nice bathrooms. Quiet at night with great access to the town and countryside for walks. Negative: Kitchen not really great for a longer stay (we were there for 2 weeks) Pans very cheap and annoying to cook with, one tea towel for a 2 week stay - had to buy some, plus no washing up liquid on arrival. Kitchen stools are very low quality and one was about to collapse. This is a little picky, but we had been spoiled by preceding week's accommodation in N Yorks which had been very thoughtfully equipped and had everything needed.
Exceeded all expectations. Well worthy of a 60th birthday holiday. Positive: The location was great I have an Uncle who lives in Kirkby Moorside! so I have been before. The local facilities are good the nearing towns are stunning. Beautiful part of Yorkshire. Negative: I am really being picky but the Cottage windows could have more sound proofing.
Although the place is well located for exploring the Yorkshire Moors and has all the listed amenities, we were overall quite disappointed by the stay. Firstly be aware of the security deposit taken by Host and Stay for the stay- £260 additional was taken from my account prior to arrival and I will apparently get £250 of this back 7 days after checking out. This is not something I've experienced with other air b n bs. On arrival, the property was unfortunately not very clean. It had been cleaned since the last stay but that was clearly a while ago as there was a build up of dust and debris throughout the property which I ended up having to clean myself. Finally the furniture is quite cheap and wobbly and there is nowhere for 4 people to sit and eat which was disappointing. on the plus side the showers were powerful and as stated it was a good location.
Fantastic relaxing stay Positive: Fantastic location, spotless, decor was beautiful and felt really homely Negative: A small Christmas tree or decoration, with it being the Christmas period before New year
Great place, and great location for walking. Plenty of space for 2 couples.
Beautiful property great value for money the bedrooms are beautiful really comfy beds and gorgeous modern bathrooms love Positive: Clean, top quality bathrooms, bedrooms, bed linen, lovely central location to all local attractions Negative: Not much of a garden very small No wifi and very early check out
Great place. All very comfortable. Quality furnishings and fabulous beds! Showers both have excellent water pressure. Good for a work stay.
Positive: Great bed. Good location. Negative: Too cold. Tv controls intermittent. Key safe faulty. Hot upstairs and cold downstairs. Gas fired fire lighter doesnt work. Main problem was being cold. Bought logs kindling and firelighters but fire was high maintenance. Kept going out.
A very well presented 2 bed cottage in Kirkbymoorside. Although compact it was very comfortable. Would recommend
Always a nice place to stay.
.
Lovely cottage in a great little town. Comfortable seats and beds. We would definitely stay here again.
An excellent house as described. The bedrooms were a good size with comfy king size beds.
Positive: Excellent house, close to town. Negative: House could do with a dusting down and maybe some new carpets and a lick of paint but overall it's good. Could do with a blind in the kitchen and bathrooms .
We loved the cottage. It was in a great place and a good price. Positive: Property was lovely, nicely furnished with a comfortable bed and good showers. No issues with parking near the property. Response to questions was fast and helpful. There are fairly steep stairs which didn’t bother us and we were aware of before the stay. Negative: A few extra things in the kitchen would have made our stay perfect
Excellent location in the middle of Kirkbymoorside, with short walk to shops & pubs. The food in the George & Dragon pub it excellent and the food from the chinese takeaway is good. The property is OK if you want to be out and about all the time, as the "living space" is small, but adequate for 4 adults. The two black chairs are not very comfortable! There is no real dining space, just the breakfast bar, which would be a struggle to fit 4 people around for a meal! The stairs are quite steep and narrow, so no good people with limited mobility. I would also not OK for coiples withs kids / baby.We had a leak from the first floor shower into thr kitchen, which we reported and it was fixed very promptly the next day, so full marks for that! Cleanliness was OK, but the fake flowers could do with a good clean, so I;ve marked the property down to 4 stars overall, but property is good for a short stay.
Lovely Cottage, Shame Housekeeping Wasn't Done On Arrival Positive: The cottage was in a good location. Modern facilities. Really nicely decorated. Negative: Housekeeping hadn't been when we arrived. Eventually a Housekeeping Team arrived at 5.30 pm. You speak to an offshore call centre who appear to ge speaking from a script. We were told if they couldn't find anyone to clean the cottage they would try and find us a cottage elsewhere, but we really didn't want to reload the car and drive elsewhere. Photos below show what we arrived too. They said if we liked yo go out they would send 10 dollars for us to get refreshments while the house was cleaned. I explained the UK do not use dollars. Nothing arrived anyhow.
Was meant to be a relaxing break for my wife’s birthday and a chance to convalesce after an illness Positive: Location Negative: Lack of hot water for almost 24 hours! Not very clean-dusty and cobwebs Patio not fit for purpose - dirty and rubbish bins in area
This is our first bad review on Airbnb! The rooms were well appointed and very comfortable - the bathrooms had good showers. There were cobwebs all over and thick dust on all the plants and many surfaces. Not many Sachets of shampoo or of Milk and instant coffee - no different to a Travellodge. There were 4 tea bags to last us the weekend so we had to stock up on all the essentials. The front door is jammed shut or locked off or something and just didn’t work, which we weren’t aware of. There is no courtyard at the back so we struggled to let our dog out without disturbing the neighbours. This isn’t really a dog friendly place. The TV was good and the sofa comfy, kitchen space nice. It is advertised as with its own parking but this is not correct, it is street parking only and we had two vehicles, this must be amended. We travel in a van that we prefer not to leave on the street overnight. They tried to sell us additional insurance package or make us sign a damage waiver.
Lovely little cottage which needs a paint and very good clean! Positive: Lovely extras eg toiletries and eco loo roll. Comfortable beds Negative: Lacking standard essentials eg dish cloth, doormats and a bit shabby compared to pictures on website. No mention about steep staircase.
A really great place that is close to what you need.
Choose this cottage as had 2 good double bedrooms. Beds were v comfy and nice to have bathroom each. Nice to be able to walk to pubs, we liked White Swan.
Lovely stay in a traditional cottage Positive: Lovely cottage, comfortable beds, bedrooms next to bathrooms. Very clean. WiFi. Negative: There was no dining table and chairs to sit on. We missed that as we like sitting around the table for meals and board games.
Lovely place, would most definitely stay again!
Positive: Local to town. Nice cottage. Friendly village. Negative: No Wi-Fi. We both had things we needed to do. Only one of us could get a phone signal. Luckily I could get online at one of the local pubs.
Great stay. Very convenient for us and worked really well. We’ll definitely stay again if the opportunity arises
Challenging access to first floor Positive: Location was fine just a short walk from centre of Kirkbymoorside, and street parking outside propert was very useful. Bedrooms and bathrooms on both floors very good with enormous double beds and good showers. Negative: No mention in property details about the tight, steep and winding staircase access to 1st & 2nd floors. Both in our late 60's, my wife and I found accessing the bedrooms more than a little challenging. The property details should highlight that anyone with mobility issues could find this an issue. Also, on arrival, the property felt very cold, and when we tried operating the hand held heating control there was no power to the control unit despite repeated attempts. I contacted # Booking.com by telephone and was asked if I could maybe go to shops and purchase new batteries ! However on a Saturday evening in a strange town I said that I did not know if there were local shops open, and also that we were going out to dinner. I was then asked if I could try replacing the batteries with those from the TV remote, which I had already tried but they were a different size. We eventually obtained batteries later that evening from a late night garage and got the heating working. Finally no window coverings in rear of living room, which was open to public access. Also no window coverings in either bathroom which was visible from outside properties.
Positive: Bedrooms and bathrooms were lovely, the mattress was so comfy great nights sleep. Negative: The house keeping poor and they take £60 for cleaning which i think is not acceptable as it wasn't clean, self catering we couldn't use there pans as they were a health and safety issue had to go out and buy our own to cook with had to deep clean the kitchen before using also had to boil water in a pan we bought as the kettle wasn't clean we even descaled it had to wipe in the fridge before we could put food into it good job we took a throw as the cream sofa was badly stained we found out the property was up for sale so we think that's why they couldn't care about it....
lovely little cottage could use door draught excludes the wind sure whistles through ! couldn't get the dressing table bottom drawer to stay closed . minor things that wouldn't stop us coming back if it's still an Airbnb!
Spotless and well presented property, lovely location and looked just like the photos. Lots to do (with a car) in the surrounding area. Would recommend Feather & Beak Restaurant which is just a little outside Kirbymoorside but walkable, and served fantastic food and offered great hospitality.
Quiet cosy retreat close to good pubs Positive: Cosy cottage feel, nice decor and warm Negative: No kindling for the log burner, could have brought with if we’d known there wasn’t going to be any
Positive: Very cosy, beautiful decor, two bathrooms. Negative: Nothing
Overall very enjoyable Positive: Self catering. Hot water, heating, showers very good. Comfortable beds Negative: Very steep twisty stairs up two levels which the brochure doesn't mention
Beautiful and great location Positive: Beautiful decor, loads of hot water, very comfortable and great location . Open fire Negative: No WiFi, house cold upon entering.
Lovely Stay Positive: Beautiful cottage. 2 massive bedrooms with beautiful bathrooms. Negative: Not enough cooking utensils, no WiFi.
WiFi should have been noted that it was not available. Lack of kitchen utensils and what was there needs replacing. Positive: Location Negative: No WiFi; limited kitchen utensils.
Great stay in a period property Positive: Location, bathrooms, beds very comfy Negative: Eating at the breakfast bar was uncomfortable for dinner times as the stools chairs were unstable
The house has very nice comfortable beds and the bedrooms are a decent size. The bathrooms were also nice, clean and great water pressure in shower. Upstairs in property was great and couldn’t really fault that. Downstairs however is not very comfortable with very limited and uncomfortable seating for 4 people. There should be 2 sofas and one with 2 hard backed chairs. No place for 4 people to sit and eat also. The kitchen was fine and that was reasonably clean. But the whole place needed a good dusting as lots of cobwebs and dust. Floor in lounge also didn’t seem to have been hoovered and there was debris visible and hairs on the cushions . We flagged this and cleaner came to re-clean but they left the cobwebs and hairs we reported.
We stayed at 20 Dale End in kirkbymoorside. Great cottage, loads of space over 3 floors and well renovated with great features and amenities. Host very responsive and plenty of information for an easy stay.
Great Positive: Great place to stay
Really lovely cottage. Great interior and very comfortable.
Positive: Very good clean accommodation. Lovely bed and bathrooms. Good location for visiting the area. Plenty local amenities- even a market day. Negative: Although the accommodation was good, there was no table for us to sit around. A washing machine would also have been useful. The boiler was loud at night in top bedroom. Ongoing work next door was a bit disruptive- but this won't last for ever! Would recommend this property.
Fantastic stay . A home away from home . Ideal for anyone looking for easy access to Helmsley or York . Would recommend and stay again
Just perfect for our short stay in Kirby.
Nice Stay Positive: King sized beds, newer bathrooms Negative: 1st floor sitting area needs comfortable / updated furniture
Lovely property, would recommend. Positive: This is the second time we have stayed at Dale End. It is a very clean, comfortable house, tastefully decorated with lovely, comfortable beds. Linen and towels good quality and spotless. We didn't do any cooking so can't comment on the provision if you wanted to do so, however all the basic equipment eg. toaster, kettle, microwave etc are good quality and clean. ( even the crumbs from the electric toaster had been cleaned out before our arrival!) Handy to have tea towel, dishcloth, bin bag, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets provided on arrival. We were able to park on the road outside/adjacent to the house . The location is good, midway between Pickering and Helmsley and beyond. Recommend the Royal Oak at Gilamoor for a delicious meal. and the tea rooms at Ampleforth Abbey are worth a visit, in lovely surroundings, for a tasty lunch ( Both only a short drive from the property) We would definitely stay at Dale End again. Negative: Not having internet provision - something that's expected these days. Soundproofing of the flooring of the top bedroom needs to be addressed. Only carpet and floorboards in place so movement and sounds from second floor bedroom could be heard in the first floor bedroom.
Positive: Comfortable beds, spacious, clean, modern bedrooms and bathrooms. Good location Negative: Quite a small living area for 4 people.
A pleasant stay and in a pleasant cottage. Positive: The cottage was pleasantly decorated and the beds were very large and comfy Negative: The kerb appeal of the property is very disappointing, the front door needs either replacing or painting there were weeds growing all around the front and back door, the little area outside at the back had not been swept and the windows inside and out were dirty. I also picked up a cushion off the settee to move it and there were a pair of socks behind the cushion so obviously had not been cleaned properly and one of the chopping boards in the cupboard was filthy.
Great little comfortable house in a fantastic location. Parking was great too even though on street we always found a s Positive: Very clean, comfortable and cosy. Great facilities in the kitchen. Beds were really comfortable. Good shower and toiletries provided. Great location - walking distance to town. Negative: Nothing. Everything was excellent. A starter pack of logs for the fire would have been a really good idea. Maybe a dishcloth as tea towel was provided but nothing to wash dishes or wipe down sides in kitchen.
Good accommodation and much better than staying in a hotel Positive: Location/comfortable beds/good bath and shower. Better than staying in a hotel. Negative: Sofa and chairs were uncomfortable. bar stools were unstable. Would have been nice to have a few extra things in the kitchen like salt/pepper/oil. Sent text to hosts about using the log burning stove in the lounge but didn't get a reply.
Positive: Everything was fab, cosy, warm, comfortable. Beds were excellent, bathrooms super, lots of hot water. No issues to report.
Matched expectations and provided a good location for a stay in kirkbymoorside
We would definitely stay at Dale End again if we return to the area in the future. Positive: We liked the central location. The house is tastefully decorated in a contemporary style and it was very clean. The living area is comfortable; the kitchen offered everything we needed for our stay – although we didn’t cook any meals during our visit. The bedrooms are lovely. The beds are super-kingsize ( with the option to separate to 2 large singles) and very comfortable. Plenty of storage, a dressing table mirror, hanging space and a hairdryer are provided in each room. It was great to have separate bathrooms and made life a lot easier. Both are modern, clean with large, fresh bathsheets provided. The stairs leading to the upstairs bedrooms/bathrooms are quite steep and narrow and there’s no downstairs toilet, so for those with mobility issues it might cause a problem, but we’re all in our 70s and had no problem with access. Kirkbymoorside is a lovely small town with a couple of small supermarkets, a bakery, butcher and pubs ; we would recommend The Lemon Tree fish and chip shop and, if you are staying over the weekend, the Carvery at Kirkbymoorside Golf Club is a must for Sunday lunch! Negative: We would have appreciated internet provision.
A warm cosy cottage that was great for a break away Positive: The property was spotless and well-equipped. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and huge. The stand-alone shower was very good and it had a good heating system. Negative: There were only two things where we felt improvement could have been made. The first was a more comfortable sofa as the one provided wasn't that good and a mirror downstairs would have been much appreciated.
Lovely old cottage, nicely decorated. Very comfortable beds and nice linen. As others have reported, bar stools are wobbly on the tile floor. Easy access to the moors or main route between Thirsk and Pickering.
Fantastic time in a perfect cottage. Positive: The beds were very comfortable and the decor was very homely Negative: Could do with a more comfortable sofa/more seating in the living room but still was great either way.
Lovely place and will be coming back Positive: Great location, nice and cosy Negative: Kitchen could be slightly better equipped with cooking utensils - not too much of an issue will know for next time.
A lovely house with a cottage feel. Very comfortable stay however slightly interesting check-in. We had to sign and pay a damage waiver and couldn't get an access code until we did this. A shame as so many amazing places on Airbnb are now run by bigger companies and not everyday people. Something to consider when booking as we much prefer talking to private hosts! Also no wifi at all - which is a first! Still a lovely place and maybe the cleanest I've ever seen!
Lovely place!
It was a lovely cottage just such a shame about uncared for & not looked after Negative: Property needed a GOOD CLEAN,there were spiders in cupboard, sounds of a mouse at night nibbling on 1st floor b’room, sofa needs new legs as they are marking the stone floor, windows, filthy such a shame, fire never been cleaned,3bar stools& there was 4 of us, plant pots need binning, outside facilities BAD, bar stools were rickety, No welcome pack.not told about £275 accident deposit until we were half an hour away from property. WOULD LIKE A CALL BACK TO ME, as we rang them & were put through to china somewhere!!! rugs a NO go on top of carpet in bedrooms, is accident waiting to happen they were all rucked up very bad,
Negative: Es gab leider keinen größeren Topf bzw. eine Pfanne zum Kochen. Die Küchenutensilien waren von schlechter Qualität.
Beautiful house with lovely decor and attention to details. Great location, walking distance to pubs and shops. Highly recommend!
Positive: Nice and cozy Negative: The owner isn't really want to talk to you. I've tried to ask him a few things but the only thing he talk to me is about the damage cover to make sure I pay for it. Other then that, didn't respond any other questions.
Excellent choice Positive: The house was extremely comfortable and very clean. Excellent beds , very spacious rooms Negative: Parking nearby was sometimes difficult
Positive: The beds Negative: The kitchen utensils and comfort in lounge
This is for 4 people with no where to sit and eat. Kitchen has 3 stools which are very unstable and only 1 pan to cook with, knife & forks are flimsy and cheap. No clingfilm or foil but you do have a dishwasher with 3 tablets but only 6 cups plates and so on, soap liquid would have been a lot simpler. There is a coffee table with two bolt upright backs which are not comfortable to sit on. Bath needs a bath mat in for safety. Most of this was said previously in other reviews. Tacking care of the little this makes a difference giving lip service doesn’t .
We loved our stay here, the property looked newly renovated and felt very cosy.
The key safe is at the back door not the front door. You access via the gate at no 22.
Thank you so much - it was perfect!
The property is lovely and modern in a beautiful, quiet location & very clean. It does say that the key box is located at the front door but is at the rear of the property & we struggled to find it initially in the dark. Also it says the property has Wi-Fi but no code/ password is given. Also if you want to eat in the property, for 4 adults you would struggle as there isn’t a table & chairs. Just 3 bar stools.
Really nice comfortable cottage,in a good position, and nice and warm, will come back again, very nice Positive: The cottage was clean and comfortable, really nice position and the village is beautiful, thoroughly recommend the George and Dragon in the village. Negative: I had to contact the office for the key box number, and was not told the box was round the back of the cottage, and I kept getting the same email day after day. The cottage could do with an information sheet, internet code, and eating recommendations etc.
We had a lovely time and the cottage was well located and we enjoyed our stay. We do however have some feedback which we have shared privately.
Would not use Host & Stay property again. Bombarded with emails from them & T&Cs very off putting. Positive: Clean, comfortable bed, good shower Negative: WiFi not available to guests. Total lack of basic condiments (ie salt/pepper). No where to hang hand washing to dry. Chairs in lounge not very comfortable. Key box was difficult to operate.
Definitely stay again Positive: Big comfortable beds, everything you'd expect from a whole property rental. Negative: Few little things which I've fed back directly to the property manager but nothing that wouldn't just be a nice to have.
We had a wonderful stay! The house was like new - beautifully decorated, clean and cosy! Good location with lots in close driving distance. Good local pubs for food in walking distance.
