Cosy peaceful get away on a working farm. Positive: 5 STARS Just the two of us for 3 nights, and it was exactly the peace we were after. Annie is a fantastic host — warm, thoughtful, genuinely lovely. Her husband Kev (the farmer) is straight-talking and down to earth, no airs and graces. Proper, honest hospitality from a working farm. The chalet is a real gem. Underfloor heating is perfect for the rainy nights — properly cosy and warm. Hot water bottles were left on the bed as a nice touch (not needed with the underfloor heating, but thoughtful all the same). Blankets, towels and shower stuff all provided, and it's really well decorated throughout. The setting does most of the work. The view from the chalet is breathtaking — open Bowland countryside in every direction. And the animals are a real part of the charm: a cow came right up to us in the field beside the chalet, and the chickens wandered around in our area keeping us company. Keep an eye out for the white pheasant — we spotted it, which was a real treat. And the birdlife is great for any bird watcher: barn swallows in the area and we heard tawny owls in the evenings. It's a cosy one-bed — just a double, no room for kids, so it's perfect for an adults-only escape. We also walked up Jeffrey Hill, just a couple of minutes from the farm — I went for my own spiritual reasons and it was beautiful, a genuinely special place to be. Peaceful, spotless, breathtaking. We'll be back. Negative: We had to leave 😂
