Excellent situation ,easy to park and lovely garden. Would recommend this cottage
Great property, nightmare managers Positive: The property was beautiful. Everything we could have wanted, especially the gorgeous garden. Negative: We were sent two Google maps links to two incorrect locations and when I called the property no one could tell me where the property was. It took us an hour of wandering the street, whilst the family sat in a hot car on the side of the road, before we finally got correct directions from the local shop! The property also didn't give the opportunity to pay for the holiday at once and also wouldn't provide a date that they would take the remaining payment which was very inconvenient
Great location, we had a fabulous time. Positive: Spacious cottage, lovely garden, quiet neighbourhood. Negative: Downstairs bathroom, stairs were tricky in the night. Limited information in guide, we found the freezer the next day. Link for directions took us to the wrong property.
If you are looking for a quaint, characterful cottage in a small village, this is ideal. It is walkable to the beach at Robin Hood’s Bay, although the shortest path was off-limits due to cows in the field when we were there. The garden is bigger and nicer than the photos suggest. There were extra things like a bbq and washer and dryer available, although no microwave. It is very hard to find however, being set back from the road with the only signage behind another house. We only found it with instructions from another guest review. The cleaning could be better, with things like crumbs in the cutlery tray and a musty smell in the kitchen cupboards, along with quite a few spiders!
This was a lovely cottage to stay in, with a beautifully long garden! We loved how cosy it felt. It was a bit difficult to find amongst the other cottages but we found it thanks to other reviews of where it was. The stairs are also quite steep which we knew before booking so didn’t have any issues.
Positive: Colcot House was immaculate and everything was to a really high spec, even all the crockery, glasses, and cooking equipment. Lots of personal touches throughout the property which were in keeping with the surroundings which made for a very homely stay. The garden was also beautiful, spacious, and plenty of options for seating areas and bbq etc. We very much enjoyed our stay and would book again no question especially as we adore the area. Thank you for having us x Negative: NA
The house and location were great. Really great quality kitchen ware, bathroom lovely, etc. Map location inaccurate and directions should say that house is behind other houses and hard to see from road. It was pure fluke we found it, but after driving up and down road for 15 mins. Would be useful to have instructions for tv, heating etc rather than having to guess. Dishwasher didn’t work - hope it’s been fixed for next guests. 3rd bedroom staircase extremely steep. Luckily for us, we didn’t need to use it, but it is so steep, I would say unsafe. Overall, we loved the house, gorgeous garden and location. Just a few things to address to make it easier experience.
We had the absolute pleasure of staying at Colcott Cottage and it truly exceeded all our expectations. Nestled in a stunning rural location, the cottage offers the perfect balance of peace and privacy while still being within easy reach of Robin Hood’s Bay and Whitby — both just a short, scenic drive away. From the moment we arrived, we were completely wowed by the garden. It’s absolutely breathtaking — so spacious, thoughtfully designed, and beautifully maintained, with several different seating areas to enjoy the sun, the views, or a quiet moment with a book. It truly felt like our own little slice of paradise. The cottage itself is just as enchanting. It’s pretty and cosy with such charm, and it’s clear that so much care and attention has gone into making it feel like a home. Every little detail has been thought of — it’s incredibly well-equipped with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Staying here was an absolute joy from start to finish. We
Could be amazing but ultimately very disappointing. Positive: Great location, very quiet, amazing garden. Very comfortable and has the potential to be a 10/10 property. Negative: Really not very clean. I had to hoover masses of cobwebs from all over the property including the stone walls in the kitchen. Only able to do this after unblocking hoover. Dishwasher broken and could not be used at all. Owners seemingly refused to fix it during our entire stay. Broken lock to utility room meaning we couldn’t access vital facilities. Reported as soon as we got there, only able to resolve (but still broken) after 24 hours of a weekend trip and after much chasing.
Loved it Positive: N/a
Great place to stay - was a bit tricky to find as the map location didn't seem to match the house , so just in case anyone's hunting - it's opposite a large white bungalow and next to a row of garages , on a grass bank . The village is quiet , there's pub and shop within walking distance , 3/4 mile from Robin Hood's Bay , 10 minutes or so to Whitby. The house it well equipped, comfortable and has lots of character. Has a large garden with chairs . Always felt warm and cozy .
Lovely cottage, beautiful garden and surroundings, very well equipped including kitchen & living space with TV with Sky (but bear in mind there is no microwave). Short walk to a local pub and shop, 15 mins walk from Robin Hoods Bay. Some minor faults (eg nothing in the description that the stairs to bedrooms are small, steep and not the easiest to navigate for older and very young guests) but a lovely stay
