For the price charged, basics should have been provided. I wouldn't stay again. Positive: Location was great, along with the views. Bedding and towels were fresh, clean and white. Negative: No welcome pack. No coffee/tea/sugar or milk. No bin in the kitchen, just a black bag for waste. No frying pan, had to buy my own. Cleaning of property needs to be improved. Living room carpet very stained. Dog hair on the edge of the carpet. Dog urine on the sofa along with the stains in need of a good clean. Tea dribbles on paint work. Cobwebs attached to wall and coffee table. Dirty windows inside and out. No handrail for stairs. Some lights needing new bulbs and clock needs batteries. No heating in top bedroom, radiators not working in that room.

Cobblers cottage Positive: The kitchen was well equipped, the living room sofa was comfortable and spacious, the living room was nicely decorated and well furnished. Negative: Didn't sleep well due to blinds in the bedrooms letting lots of light in, the TV only showed 6 channels on the guide, wasn't cleaned well(dirty doorsand walls, cups and glasses, says dog friendly but just before you arrive you get a list of what the dog isn't allowed to do, this should be listed before booking. The light on the stairs from the front door was barely lit, the landing light didn't work at all. Kitchen tap was loose and wobbling about, cut off cables hanging loose. Wall paper and plaster peeling off. When you're asked to pay £250 security deposit or take out an insurance policy against damage you expect the place to be in good repair and it wasn't, it's not the worst place I've stayed in Whitby but it needs lots of small jobs doing, which if we're done would make the place really good.

Unsatisfactory. Misleading images of flat on booking.com. Dreadful smell and dangerous access steps Positive: Good location Negative: Lots! There was an absolutely awful smell as soon as you opened the entrance door. The steps to the flat were not those shown on the pictures on booking.com - in fact the flat shown on the site wasn’t the flat we were in. On walking into the property the heat and smell were overwhelming. On trying to open the windows in the lounge we found the sash cords were broken and the windows wouldn’t open - so we couldnt get any fresh air in or let the awful smell out. I had to put tons of talcum powder down the steps to try to mask them smell but this didn’t work. I called the office on arrival to request a maintenance visit however no one came through the whole time we were there although promises of a visit were made. It made my husband ill and he spent the first part of the evening sitting on the harbour wall. He thinks the smell was from the maccerator behind the toilet. The steps up to the flat were also awful. I have slight mobility issues climbing steep steps and we have an elderly dog who we had to assist up them every time - she is too heavy to carry - and it traumatised her greatly. The flat itself wasn’t very clean. The lounge carpet was dirty and the rug smelled terrible. The lounge windows were filthy so the view of the harbour was compromised. Kitchen utensils weren’t clean - I had to dishwasher everything before using. None of these issues are new - in looking at old reviews the windows have been broken for 1/2 years. Surely this is also a fire hazard to not have opening windows - if there was a fire in the kitchen/stairwell the only option was to go up to the bedroom level. Also the “garden” with “garden view” is misleading as it’s just a little yard which also smelled dreadful.

Had a lovely stay and would stay again. things to improve the kitchen needs better equipment not enough glass,pans plates are very small didn’t cook as we ate out but would have struggled to if we wanted to, underwear left over from previous tenants rubbish left under beds bucket of over turned sand in the cupboard cleaning could be better, heating control didn’t work batteries had run out bought some batteries so we could get it working. Mattress protectors would be a plus as one Mattress had what looked like a wee stain, a picture of the gate into the property would be better the picture of the cobbled slope is misleading, had to leave some rubbish and take the rest with us could not find a bin.front door didn’t feel secure could do with the chain fixing as a minimum. Overall would stay again with improvements location is amazing flat is an amazing size for our family loved the hall and kitchen flooring made cleaning the dog easier as to not dirty the carpet

Excellent location and a complete dog friendly town. Positive: Ideally located for all of Whitby facilities. Our car never moved until our departure day. Negative: Nothing negative to say.

fantastic place Positive: very comfortable, allowed our 4 small chihuahua’s, had everything we needed and in a lovely location. Negative: didn’t know which bin to use as our number wasn’t on there.

Negative: Bit run down inside, haven't been to an apartment that did not have basic essentials such as oven gloves to be able to make use of the oven safely, etc. Dinner plates the size of a side plate. Living room windows wouldn't open, so the rooms were very warm and stuffy tv was old or faulty when you changed chanel the previous one still showed like a ghost chanel. Just before arriving you either have to give a 250 refundable damage waiver or pay 25 non refundable

We all had a lovely time .I've only given this feedback not to critise but to help Positive: The location was the best . Spacious for two people and the dog . Flat was comfortable . Furniture was ok. Good shower . Good size kitchen Even though the outside was small in the back garden it was nice to see plants growing and it appeared well cared for . Negative: It needs a stair rail on the inside stairs. Sort out the external door it sticks all the time needs the door replacing and get the blowers from the laundrette facing another way than on the door .need hooks for nightwear and places to put your toiletries in the bathroom.no microwave dishes, dirty towel found in a cupboard from previous people who had been in also rubbish behind the sofa .need more mirrors no where to sit to blow dry your hair

Comfy, convenient and affordable. Positive: The location was fantastic just a short walk and I was in the heart of Whitby. I do think some previous reviews had been overly harsh. Yes the property has a fair bit of wear and tear but it was comfy and such an amazing price that I certainly wasn’t unhappy. The instructions given by the lettings company were clear and I found it very easily. Really lovely stay Negative: There were a couple of bits that could do with repair. The landing light didn’t work and the light by the staircase from the front door wasn’t working (thank god for phone torches) the TV also only seemed to have 4 channels so couldn’t get free view

We stay here every year Positive: We stay here every year because of the central location, it's dog friendly and probably one of the cheapest places to stay in Whitby. Negative: Please invest in black out blinds/curtains the blinds are no use for bedrooms and let's in all the light even at night and wakes you up so early in the morning! 2 rolls of 2 ply toilet rolls for 4 adults will not last 4 days. The double bedroom door does not close. There was no washing up liquid or hand soap so we had to buy our own. The shower screen leaks quite badly all over the floor which makes it slippery.

Great location for a great town. Whitby is a darling, picturesque coastal town on the east side of England. So many charming streets chock full of sweets shops, pubs, restaurants, and other shopping opportunities. The walk to the Abbey and "Dracula's mansion" on the hill is spectacular. The apartment is good value for 3 or 4 people. It feels a bit like a party house, not too fancy or spiffy, but does the job. It's not too close to the tourist mobs, so it's private. It's 3 (!) floors, so there's privacy for guests. Great view of boats in the bay. Kitchen and bathroom are fine. My only problems were not having adequate instructions to find the door and key box (you have to go through a metal gate and down a lane) and getting the right wifi and password. But the hosts were responsive. Still, this information should be checked and updated.

Negative: Could do with up dating ,door to property very dirty and needs attention, step dangerous quite big drop to the side,wifi never worked ,windows on outside need cleaning did contact the host to tell them these things so hopefully will rectify these plus pic on booking.com isn't the entrance to the property !

Definitely recommend! Positive: The house was cosy, clean and perfect for our little family get away. It was already stocked with things like sugar and condiments, the appliances were amazing too. Could not have been happier here. We can't wait to come back in the summer.

Warm cottage in a great harbourside location Positive: Warm and clean cottage with great harbour views from the lounge and bedrooms. Great location close to the town but far enough out at night so not disturbed. Spacious cottage, attic room ideal for teenagers as got own space on their own floor. Negative: Lack of glasses and kitchen utensils like others have said in the kitchen. Only 2 glasses for 3 of us for example. I have reported that so hopefully sorted for future guests.

Absolutely loved this location Positive: Location for this place was 10/10. We managed to get free on street parking both times we moved the car. Great little old property. Teens were on the top floor, seperate bathroom and main bedroom on the 2nd, kitchen and living room on the 1st, entrance on ground floor. So lots of stairs but they weren't too bad. Views of the harbour from the windows. 2 min walk to the shops. 10 to the harbour beach. Negative: Really needs 4+ pasta bowls as the plates weren't OK for dinners and a couple more sauce pans and a chopping board. It was generally clean and tidy but hopefully this time the cleaners looked up and saw the cob webs that had been there for a while but that is me being super picky. The laundrette wasn't an issue for us but maybe a bigger board by the door to deflect the fluff would be a good idea.

Birthday weekend away Positive: the location and the view were amazing. Negative: locking the front door was a bit tricky, but that's it.

a waste of £334. Negative: upper staircase window was leaking,plaster fell off wall and dripped continuously for 2 days,keeping me awake for 2 nights.cobwebs in the front room that I cleaned(I don’t go on holiday to follow the supposed cleaners around).dirty windows in the front room,they’d not been cleaned for months.windows in upper bedroom the glass has blown so needs glass replacing.front door was covered in fluff(you’d think the cleaners would have cleaned it(but no)the kitchen and bathroom taps were loose,radiator in bathroom was minging,not sure if it was wee stains or rust.blinds in upper bedroom were 3inch too short on one side,the window that leaked needs a blind or curtains up.I’m very disappointed with the property as I paid £334 for 3 nights,I think I should have a refund.I took my friend for her 60th birthday to be let down.

Enjoyed our stay, prime location, cheap price so get what you pay for! Positive: Good location, very comfy, great views, clean and spacious. Good price. Negative: The property has very steep stairs. Not really suitable for visitors with disabilities. This was not stated in the advertisement. Steps in the property were poorly lit and the stairs to bedrooms and landing not working at all which was quite dangerous at night time. Bedroom blinds blocked no light at all, need blackout! There were dirty underwear and denim shorts in the top drawer in the main bedroom. Obviously had not been cleaned thoroughly. Very difficult to park, even in the paid car parks! Always full and I am registered disabled so this proved difficult.

The cottage wasn’t as easy to find as judging by the pictures we thought it was up the ramp/steps at the side of the shutter door however it was through the gated alley. Once in, the cottage was roomy and comfortable, the beds were very nice and everything was as the pictures. It was in a perfect location overlooking the river and very close to all the amenities including some amazing restaurants and cafes which meant we could park the car up and not use it all weekend. Parking is an issue as it’s on road parking which was full, the car park just down the road was full when we got there but after a short while we managed to get a parking spot in the car park. The hosts were very quick to respond when I messaged them which was reassuring

Positive: Whitby is an amazing place we loved it.but this place was abit disappointing due to a broken microwave, mould and cobwebs in the bathroom, no drinking glasses, But the most disappointing thing was there wasn't any handsoap in the property?? Which I think should be an absolute 💯 nesseccity and that is my reason for the low score as if these little things was put right it would be great 👍 Negative: The property has no handsoap. The tv we could not work.

Sadly we will not be staying in this place again Positive: The location was great and a short walk from the town. The accommodation on first appearance looked lovely. Negative: After our arrive we noticed a few things not working such as the lights, WIFI, a few hairs in the upstairs beds but we could live with that. What we found horrible was the state of the dishwasher, someone else's (a woman's underwear) clothing behind the sofa as we were drawing the blinds as well as the shower not working nor the TV which was not connected to the router. We reported these things on the phone number provided on the first night of our three day stay and these issues were not sorted or given any help except that of the WIFI which was not very helpful as there were up to 9 different router names and none of them were the name of the router that was provided. This was not good customer service at all and sadly was a let down.

Positive: Well laid out house, good location close to the harbour and shops. Negative: Lack of toiletries, tea and coffee. Unable to watch TV for the majority of our stay due to poor WiFi connectivity and poor response when calling to report it.

Just a 2 night stay but would definitely recommend this particular one Positive: Location was brilliant. Each room had a view of the harbour. Negative: The individual cottages need to be named - no indication to which was Cobblers Cottage and therefore we were trying to get in the wrong door (it was shown as a brown door on the info I received). Lots of stairs so not suitable for those with mobility issues or buggies.

After numerous attempts of contacting agents and company finally being offered a small discount on next stay when I have no plans on coming back anytime soon is not a great offer very disappointed 😑 Ive waited to leave the review hoping they would get back to me with a resolution but nothing so just stating as it is .

Has potential but disappointing. Positive: Great location to access all areas of whitby. Good view of the docks. The property has a lot of space. Negative: Property is not easy to find. The property needs modernising. Painting, newer wardrobes and sets for drawers required. Everything is just looking tatty and dated. A number of Cupboards in the property have a lot of junk in them and need cleaning. Parking is difficult, especially for dropping bags off. WIFI does not work albeit it advises it has Internet. Blinds let a lot of light in at night and morning, Windows let a lot of noise through and some do not open. Windows could do with a clean.

Don't waste your money there are plenty of other lovely accommodations in Whitby Positive: The only Decent thing about this accommodation is the location and view. **Please read the review left by the people who stayed here before us... Search - 'most recent' I just can not believe it, laughable almost.....The disgusting dirty socks they found on the sofa were still there when we arrived a day later!! and the guests before that didn't even stay they went home! * If you do book this cottage (which i would not recommend) take a torch the entrance is treacherous in the dark and stairwell light is a joke. * We spoke to Host and stay approx. 6 times and were told maintenance was coming within the hour, they never came. Surprise surprise! * The cottage is empty for 6 hours between lets and your booking fee includes £60 cleaning fee..... then it should be clean The cottage sleeps 4 but it does not cater for 4 people, you can not self-cater here as it doesn't even have basic essentials. Negative: So we booked this cottage early in the year June, & i have sadly watched the ratings go down for months & all the poor reviews, all the same stuff, no internet, tv doesn't work, the cottage not being clean... i emailed Host & stay in Oct & again Nov, said i was concerned & are the owners actually doing anything to resolve all the issues people are consistently complaining about. Yes apparent they are, clearly not! The cottage is more of an apartment through a passageway next to the laundry. the door is the only door with no number or name on it luckily someone did help me after about 15 minutes of walking up & down. The cottage needs a really good deep clean, we were welcomed by dirty socks on the sofa, a dishwasher full of dirty pots & pans (that i left in there, just took out the cups that we needed, as i refuse to scrub someone else's pans) We complained the day we arrived 29th Found tablets in the rug, (my son thinks they were pez sweets?) The cottage sleeps 4 but only 2 glasses (pint glass & small tumbler) no dinner plates just 3 small side plates and 3 smaller saucers. No kitchen bin they just left a bin liner (my dog wouldn't leave alone obviously!) microwave has to be turned off at the plug or it cooks nothing constantly its unsafe, to cook in it, slam the door & hold it shut or the door just keeps popping open every 3 seconds its knackered! Dirty rusty canisters with no tea, sugar in. No cleaning stuff, brush or mop, no frying pan, chopping boards, oven trays, Internet doesn't work so neither does the smart TV, no Ariel, so no basic channels to watch. I contacted Host and stay about the internet & TV plenty of times pre arrival, its Dec, pitch black at 4pm & anyone with kids are stuck in for a long night. No radio or games. Hall light bulb gone, Creaky beds, clock needed batteries, rusty towel rail that marks the towels. top bedroom window doesn't close. It was freezing.

Great stay, will book again Positive: The location was fantastic. The cottage was clean, and the beds and sofa were so comfortable. After reading previous reviews, we weren't expecting much, but we really enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be booking again next year. Negative: We didn't receive the key code til 4.30pm, which was annoying as the owners knew we were waiting to enter from 3.30pm. I understand they didn't want us in a minute earlier than 4pm, but was at least hoping to be in on time. The light going into the property wasn't working, which wasn't good trying to get in when it was dark. The light bulb on the stairs had also gone too. The Internet wasn't working.

Positive: The location was fantastic. The apartment was spacious. Negative: It's such a shame, this lovely little cottage could just do with a really good clean and updating, and it would be fantastic. It could really do with a new kitchen and bathroom. The beds need replacing as they are pine bases and very squeeky. There was no internet or wifi in the property although there should have been so not TV channels. The agents managing the property are a waste of time. They are very nice when speaking with you and say all the right things, but you never hear from them again and nothing is resolved.

This property has so much potential but unfortunately isn't quite there, not quite home from home, needs some attention to detail. Negatives: >Needs a good deep clean through out due to marks on the walls and furniture and stains on the Sofa and carpet >Lack of kitchenware, there was just 3 big plates in the cupboard, we had to purchase our own glasses, not a cleaning product in the house bar a bottle of bathroom spray, no washing up liquid, no dishwasher tabs etc >Back door very poorly presented and didn't feel secure, the property needs decorating through out. Positives >Good location >Bedroom setup good and presentable >Gas fire made the room cozy >Food communication from the host Nice building on 3 floors, all great sized rooms, needs updating for value for money. Could be a lovely little place.

Whitby + location made up for property shortcomings - other reviews gave me had low expectations Positive: The location is amazing. Comfy bed and sofa, cosy and warm. Nice views. Negative: The small touches could be better. Cleaning wasn't great (e.g. peanuts in the folds of and under the sofa), no showergel or toiletries, no washing up liquid, dishwasher but no dishwasher tablets (therefore previous guests hadn't washed mugs very well), bin liner but no bin, a couple of lights out, internet not working so therefore no TV either. Bathroom heated rail filthy (looked like rust or something rust coloured), kitchen top has a melted hole in it, only three mugs (mismatching and one cracked), only three glasses (property sleeps 4!), front door lock not inspiring (looks like someone has broken in!).

Positive: The location of the cottage was perfect. Negative: The cottage was dirty, hadn't been cleaned from the previous occupants and also hadn't had a deep clean for sometime. Dust and cobwebs everywhere.

Nice place Positive: The location was excellent, the apartment was a nice surprise after reading some negative feedback, it was clean, very spacious, and decorated really well. Negative: The blinds do not distract light and struggled to sleep.

We enjoyed our short stay in Whitby, this was a good base. Positive: Clean and comfortable apartment. Great location. Negative: Please can mattress protectors be used on the beds? Please can WiFi issue be sorted out?

Disappointing Positive: We struggled to find the property as there was no number or property name, the lady in the dry cleaners showed us how to access the property which was above. The property was stiflingly hot as both living room Windows were painted shut and the cords broken. Up stairs the double bedroom was ok but shared it's mirror with the twin room and both windows in the twin room were blocked by the blind so couldn't be opened, 3 floors up would have thought a health and safety issue. Ther kitchen was basic with very few pots and pans everything was a mismatch of oddments. Behind the double bed it was filthy best not to look. The front door to the property opens outwards on to steep steps and the fans from the dry cleaners blow hot dusty air straight at the door. I feel there has been no effort after looking at past reviews to maintain this property as some of these problems are ongoing for years.

The dirty death trap by the sea!!! Positive: Very little, it’s drab, dirty and really needs a refurb Negative: Dirty, dated I can see that a number of other guests have complained about the lights not working on the stairs, and no lights on the entrance stairs These comments date right back to April 2023, so it is clear that the owner has very little regard for the safety of guest and is more interested in the money coming in. The place is a death trap, I wouldn’t stay here again for free.

Okay but could have been better. Positive: The location was really good. Negative: The tv was broken. We reported it on the first day and the owner never responded.

Needs some attention before it’s rented out again (DISAPPOINTED) Positive: The location is good as you are very close to town, we only paid for parking on one night ,the rest of the time we managed to get a free parking slot. Negative: (1) The entrance to the property is not the one that is advertised (see video) (2) The door and frame looks like it’s been broken into and the canopy looks like it’s going to fall off. (3) The key safe is right above the drain and the key did go down there. (4) The 2 steps has no fall protection and the door doesn’t open fully so you have to stand on the edge of the step to get in and out. (5) The steps inside the property are steep and narrow with inadequate lighting. (6) We cleaned all the utensils before we used them after seeing the frying pan with the dried up egg in it. (7) We had no working tv all week even after reporting it the same day we checked in. (8) There is also a constant damp smell which I dare say is from the industrial laundry downstairs. (9) Windows are dirty and don’t open in the living room.

Do not waste your money here. Firstly, it was hard to find. The images would suggest the property is up the ramp but it is in fact down the alleyway to the side of the laundry place. Some parts of the property weren’t clean - stains inside the cupboards, toaster overflowing with crumbs and dirty, coffee pot had dried solid coffee in the bottom, freezer was full of ice. There were also some dirty towels which had just been left in the washing machine. The furnishings and level of upkeep throughout is poor - old and dated. The radiator in the bathroom was covered in suspicious brown marks. There were multiple cupboards with an array of random junk in like a tin of paint, an iPad, screwed up newspaper and Christmas decorations. It was just about adequate for two nights in Whitby but for what we paid we really didn’t feel it was value for money. After booking the property you also have to pay extra for a damage waiver in case of any damages to the property. We definitely wouldn’t return.

Positive: this property was in a good location and reasonable value for money. Negative: my bed hadn’t been changed since the last occupancy. Many of the items in the kitchen had been put away dirty. There was a lack of basic equipment. Bin, dustpan and brush. knife and chopping board to name a few. I didn’t like the unexpected request for a security deposit after I’d already paid for the accommodation. it It didn’t seem reasonable to attempt to charge me more for a returnable security deposit than the actual rent . i am not sure how the company can justify holding onto it for 14 days. it’s no wonder people chose the non returnable tariff. with a bit more attention to detail the property could be improved significantly.

Do not waste you money on this property. Firstly it was advertised with free onsite parking which isn’t even true. We arrive at the property and we instantly knew something was wrong by the stretch of dog wee as soon as you entered. Upon further inspection the entire property was cover in animal fur and filthy. We tried to ring host and stay and you are just connected to some call centre in America not ‘a family run business in north Yorkshire’ as advertised. They were absolutely no help in resolving the issue! Luckily air bnb realised how bad the property was and have given us a full refund! After such a stressful ordeal I just want to give everyone the heads up to avoid host and stay and this property in Whitby!!

Clean but basic Positive: Location was good and very clean. Bed was really comfortable so a good nighs sleep was easy. Negative: Entrance hall light very dim and not great when arriving in the dark. Sky remote didn't work. TV was poor. It was unusual to not have any hand wash or soap in the apartment, not expecting posh cosmetics but a simple bottle of hand wash isn't too much to ask for.

We had a great stay in this apartment; it was clean and tidy and the bedrooms in particular were very comfortable. I really liked the attic bedroom. The location felt safe and was quiet, especially in the evenings, and it was lovely to have the view of the boats outside the window. I would recommend that the kettle (had bits of paint/coating flaking off into the water) and the frying pan (scratched non-stick coating) be replaced. We returned from a trip one day to find the key safe hanging open and the code visible as the wheels hadn't been rescrambled. I notified Host & Stay of this, and they did acknowledge my message very quickly, but it was a little unsettling to have this happen and not find out why. However, in all other respects, communication with Host & Stay was excellent. I received detailed check-in instructions and a guidebook for the property, and received prompt responses when I communicated with them regarding out check-in time.

Cobblers cottage Positive: The location overall it was clean could do with a bit of a spruce lick of paint in places but clean the women in the laundret below was nice and helpfull Negative: Getting locked in one night cause the lock on the door was playing up and we was going out for a meal the lock didn't get fixed till the day after we rung the owener he didn't answer text back later told us he was sick so we was stuck in

Good Positive: Excellent location and well equipped yes the stairs up to the door are steep but it’s worth it when you get up there, after reading others reviews I can say that all of the issues that were mentioned have been resolved and a problem with the boiler was dealt with very quickly and simply so can’t fault the service. Negative: The beds were so hard which made it difficult to sleep. If the mattress was replaced with a softer one then we would return but unfortunately this alone is enough for us not to be returning- that said I’ll keep an eye out on the website for any information regarding a new mattress!

Positive: Great location.Lovely place clean and comfortable. We had a great weekend. Negative: The only downfall was having to be out by 10am .

An expensive unclean property! Do not stay here!!!!!! Positive: Nothing, after seeing the unchanged bed we decided not to stay in the property, and phoned Host and Stay with our complaints. Still waiting to hear back from a manager regarding our refund Negative: Cleanliness of the property, cobwebs everywhere, double bed had not been changed since it was last used (curly hairs in the bed - make of that what you will), hairs in the bathroom, microwave not cleaned properly, dried food residue stuck to the inside and roof. Kitchen sink not cleaned properly, crumbs on the chairs in the living room. Cupboard in the living room containing mould. Entrance door looked as though it had been forced open recently as door surround was damaged Dust on the window ledges, windows that didnt open properly and had paint splatters. I dont normally complain, but all this for £370 for two nights is unacceptable.

Central location and views. Positive: Quirky location, large sitting room. Negative: Only one bathroom, the stairs from the entry door were steep. There were no complimentary basic food products. ie milk., Tes bags coffee.There is nowhere nearby to buy groceries especially on a Sunday evening. The TV didn't receive terrestrial channels and it was complicated to operate with two remotes.

Positive: Very clean lovely apartment well situated for our needs. Competitive price considering its Whitby.

Over priced and disappointing Positive: Location was ok Negative: Back door is unsafe. Needed a deep clean. Kitchen did not have basic items like oven gloves and chopping board. No window coverings to the back of the property therefore no privacy

Avoid staying here. Positive: Location Negative: Filthy. Dirty windows. No curtains on any windows, just white office blinds letting too much light in so couldn’t sleep. Plaster on walls. Wallpaper scuffed all over. Dirty window sills. Cobwebs. Rusty radiator. Toilet doesn’t flush properly. Needs fully decorating. No maintenance on property. Owner taking profits with no investment in the property. Owner rude when asked for reimbursement.

A great holiday cottage. Positive: Comfortable spacious rooms. Comfy beds. The location was great Negative: The 3 days we were there were hot and sunny and both of the living room windows didn't open, making it a bit stuffy. Could do with a few more drinking glasses. One mug had a crack down the length and there were some cobwebs on one of the pictures in the living room. Some plastered areas on the walls could have been painted over and the towel rail in the bathroom had rust on the lower half. It was a great few days stay but a few DIY jobs would have made it perfect.

Very disappointing. Positive: The apartment was in a good location. Lock was a little difficult to manage, the key safe was hard to use. Negative: We have stayed in Whitby on numerous occasion previously. There was no Parking even though it was advertised with parking. When calling up about this were told by host and stay that its wasn't their fault and its are own problem (the parking was than taken off the website). There were no working lighting in stairs leading from front door to apartment door. - We almost fell on more than one occasion as it was very dark. The fire was broken and appeared not safe to use. Medicines were left in the drawer in bedside table of the twin room, fortunately we were a party of adults but had we had children with us we may not have checked all the drawers etc before putting children to bed in this room. No clean dishes. The dishwasher was full of dirty crockery etc. from the last occupants, possibly because there were no dishwasher tablets but the cleaners should have at least washed up by hand and put everything away. No clean tea towels - all in the washing machine soaking wet and stinking. Mold everywhere. Old moldy sticks of rock in a cupboard in the lounge. Spare pillows in a cupboard half way up the stairs full of mold, dust and dirt. A 5 inch round hole in the ceiling above the window on the landing. Water was literally pouring in, down the wall, floor was soaking. It was moldy, the plaster was falling away, it had a hand towel pinned to the wall to hide it and another on the window sill which was saturated and stinking. When calling host and stay about this issue we were told its not their issue and they hope we enjoy the rest of our stay. I have been emailing and calling now for the past few months to host and stay and have tried calling the owner of the apartment several times and have just been ignored. Host and stay said they would contact the owner for a response, the owner themselves said they would look into it, this was over 2 months ago and we have still heard nothing. This is absolutely unacceptable and I would not recommend staying in this property.

Positive: Overall it was a nice place to stay for a short break. Great location and very comfortable to stay Negative: Athough, a few things let it down. Was unable to connect to the WiFi the two days we were there. Tried the reset and tried on and off with no success. Plus, the notice card on the mantel piece displayed a completely different WiFi option. The front door is very unwelcoming and is in a poor state. Not good first impression. The windows are filthy, which impacted the view slightly. Seen this has been noted by someone previously as well Repairs carried out to the plaster work in places and not finished with paint.

Location was great, unfortunately we found that the kitchen was not really up to standard not much in the way of glasses and such, oven hadn't been cleaned from previous occupants, and the heat wasn't working when we arrived, we called, informed someone would call to fix unfortunately no one arrived

A great, no frills place to stay in a good location in Whitby.

Potential great flat let down by many strange and uncomfortable problems (full list in review) Positive: Location great and very close to Whitby town centre. Close access to pubs and restaurants within short walking distance. Nice views over the harbour (if the windows were a bit cleaner). Negative: This accommodation was let down by many strange, little things. Individually none of the issues were a major problem, but the cumulative effect made this a rather dismal and uninviting place to stay. The list: flat is above a drycleaning/washing facility which regularly makes noise and plays havoc with the water pressure; exhaust from said facility blows directly onto the door accessing the flat which is covered in pink fluff and spiderwebs - you'll also get a blast of dryer exhaust every time you enter/exit; damaged wall at the bottom of the stairway that has been repaired but not repainted; windows in the living do not open (I would not want to stay here in the summer!); general cleanliness of dishes and kitchen very poor; dust everywhere; and the craziest thing - some strange woman entered the flat unannounced from the drycleaners and said she had to come into the living room and put a card into the gas meter!!! Final nail in the coffin is a demand for a £300 deposit or a £30 waver for damage which I have never come across in hundreds of stays across the country. For the price, there are way better options (we discovered) in Whitby. Massive disappointment and the damage waiver/deposit is an absolute scam.
