We had a lovely stay at Clackgill Cottage this weekend, the house is beautiful and absolutely spotless. With 6 adults and 2 children, it had everything we could have needed for the weekend. Kitchen was fully stocked with equipment and utensils; the airfryer and slow cooker were great touches. As a group we are already talking about our next trip and agreed we wouldn’t hesitate to rebook.

GuestAirbnbNov 2025

We have stayed here twice now. Really great value, the location and views are amazing. The house is really nice and spacious, and is well stocked with everything you could need for a big family stay. Thank you

GuestAirbnbJul 2025

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Clackgill Cottage. The cottage is beautifully decorated and furnished and had everything we could need for our family to enjoy time together. The rooms are spacious and designed for spending time together and ideal for socialising, the large dining/kitchen area was ideal for our needs. The two bathrooms and seperate downstairs toilet meant no queues in the morning which was great!! The beds were very comfortable and we all slept extremely well. The views from the cottage are beautiful and we went on a number of walks in the local area as well as visiting other parts of the dales. Communication was prompt and clear. Thank you so much, we hope to visit again.

GuestAirbnbJun 2025

Confident the cottage would meet our needs, but concerned when I requested infant accessories, as advised in the listing to be told they weren’t available! However, after a call to Host and Stay and further message exchange, this was resolved. The accommodation was perfect for our needs as a family of 8 incouding 2 young children. Everything you could want in probably the most well stocked kitchen I have experienced, a microwave and washer in adjoining utility space, cosy lounge. Upstairs, bedrooms were roomy with comfortable beds and great bathrooms. I’m glad I read a previous review which advised taking as many provisions as possible, nearest shops a 25 min drive away. Beautiful part of Yorkshire with local walks/attractions nearby. Would highly recommend for family stays. One nearby pub, otherwise nothing less than 30-40 mins drive away - which suited us, having decided to self cater for our entire stay.

GuestAirbnbJun 2025

The whole house was lovely,we booked for a family get together. the pictures on the site were exactly what you got, no disappointment there. Our only comment would be the sitting room was snug for 6 adults, but even this didn't spoil our stay, we sat in kitchen/dining room! All queries responded to quickly and satisfactorily. The views were amazing. We would highly recommend. Thank You.

GuestAirbnbJun 2025

stayed three. nights. Great location and views walking from the cottage. well equipped kitchen, layout worked well for 6 adults and two kids helpful to have use of a stairgate too.

GuestAirbnbMay 2025

Lovely accommodation with plenty of room for 6 adults and 2 children. Everything needed for infant (cot / high chair etc). Very comfy beds, living room a little snug but lovely still. Kitchen area and utilities were perfect. Great location looking over a campsite

GuestAirbnbSep 2024

Lovely place, in a beautiful setting. Nice and quiet for a family getaway. Beautiful gorge just down the road at the campsite.

GuestAirbnbMay 2024

Had a great weekend with the family. Lovely property with some really nice walks. Lots of fresh air. Came home very relaxed.

GuestAirbnbApr 2024

Lovely stay here. Pros: Great location, easy to find and very beautiful views, the host had taken the time to decorate the house nicely and we felt very much at home, nice toiletries, well stocked kitchen (e.g. Dishes for children and lots of pots, pans) and anything else you could need. Lovely little pub around the corner, and only 20 minute drive from shops. Good communication during the stay. Cons: Communication when booking was strange, booked as the description said there would be a cot and stair gate upon request, when I booked and requested this I was told it was incorrectly advertised, I brought my own travel cot and when I arrived there was one here! A couple off ad hoc cleanliness issues, air fryer hasn't been cleaned, a couple of the towels smelled a little musty, and I found a large piece of broken glass by my bed (which was alarming because I was staying with a toddler), but the rest of the place was nice and clean. I'd recommend the place, and would stay again.

We loved our stay in Clackgill cottage, without a doubt the most well equipped cottage we have ever stayed in with great attention to detail and very thoughtful touches. We have stayed in a lot of cottages and usually have to 'make do' with certain aspects but this place had everything. It was very tastefully furnished and everything good quality. We didn't get the 'that'll do' feeling that is present in so many rentals. There were, however, a couple of negatives: The comfy sitting room was far too small to accommodate our party of 8 so we had to sit on hard chairs around the kitchen table. The cottage is ideal for a winter break but we wouldn't stay there in the spring/summer as the outside space is small and unattractive and the view from the rear bedroom windows is a campsite with a rusty shipping container in the middle of it. Also as the campsite borders the 'garden' and is on the same level as the bedroom windows any tents/caravans would have a direct view into the bedrooms.

GuestAirbnbOct 2024

Clackgill Cottage is a relatively new house and is in excellent condition. Its neutral pallete is tasteful and it has a very well equipped kitchen which meant I could cater for 8 people each day without a problem. The linens and towels are of excellent quality and the open plan kitchen diner gave plenty of space for us all to sit round to eat and play games. The pub a few steps away serves great food. Just be aware that you are a long way from shops and petrol, the closest being Pately Bridge - a 25 minute drive away, so you need to plan ahead.

GuestAirbnbSep 2024

A lovely house which was perfect for our large group. The bedrooms were great and the kitchen was especially well-equipped. Thank you.

SandraBooking.comJul 2024

Overall, cottage was lovely, but communication by Host & Stay was rubbish. Positive: We liked the views, the cottage. Negative: The snug not really big enough to seat 8 people comfortably at the same time. The linked beds hadn't been unlinked to make twin single beds, even though I had requested this to be done, well in advance on 10th March 2024, plus to confirm there would also be a 12 year old child as well as 7 adults staying, the lady I spoke to at Host and Stay, told me she had put my request forward for the beds to be unlinked for our stay, and that there would be no problem with the extra person, as the cottage sleeps 8 people., I had spoken to Host & Stay via telephone on 10th March 2024, and was advised to call them again two days prior to our stay at the cottage, to make sure my request had been carried out regarding UNLINKING the beds. I rang Host and Stay, on Thursday 4th July 2024 (our stay was 6th July 2024), as I had been asked to do, this was a REMINDER to confirm the beds are unlinked. This was NOT a late request as stated in your emails. Communication was rubbish. This caused an inconvenience to our stay, as two of the male adult guests didn't have a single bed each to sleep in, which they needed., therefore, other arrangements had to be made. After calling Host & Stay on the Friday 5th July 2024 and again on the day of our holiday 6th July 2024, the female I spoke to promised to call me back, she did not fulfil these promises - twice. Also, I received an Email on the Saturday evening, saying, if we left the keys in the keysafe, presumably if we were out for the day, on the Sunday, somebody may come to the cottage to unlink the beds. We were in the cottage all day and nobody called at the cottage.

GuestAirbnbJul 2024

Very comfortable house, beautifully furnished. Fully equipped kitchen. Top quality bedding and showers. Great communication with the owner. All in all, would highly recommend this for a peaceful getaway. Lounge a bit small for 8 people. Remote location.

Lovely space to relax in a spend quality time with family and friends.

GuestAirbnbJun 2024

Very nice, well presented, clean and well appointed house. All mod cons. Comfy beds. Loads of kitchen equipment. Location is lovely, with a hospitable pub around the corner where we had two excellent dinners (note no food being served Sunday or Monday). Seems like a lot of houses in the village are AirBnBs. Things to improve: The handle on the inside of the downstairs loo was broken so you couldn’t exit once inside! We had to rescue one of our party. Hosts reacted quickly and offered to fix it while we were staying there, but we elected to let them do it after we left. The floor mat behind the front door stops the cloakroom door opening. Our request to use the garage, made and approved well prior to arrival, turned into a debacle which was sorted after two days, but unnecessarily painful. Things to note: The campsite in the field to the rear of the property directly overlooks the rear bedrooms from 10 yards away. No food shop in the village so buy at Pately Bridge (pie shop!!)

GuestAirbnbJan 2024

Stayed for 3 wonderful nights during the big freeze but the house was toasty warm and cosy. A beautiful cottage with three spacious bedrooms and the fourth a good size for bunk beds. The four of us came here for a sewing retreat and the enormous kitchen was perfect for us. It was also the most well appointed kitchen I've ever stayed in! We had a blissful time and will be booking again very soon!

We stayed here as two families with a dog each. The size of the property was great and the location was good for a quiet visit. We did venture 20 minutes out to a pizzeria which we highly recommend. I will say I think it should be stated that dogs are allowed but cannot go upstairs, thankfully a stair gate was already at the property unless this would have been tricky to stop that. (I understand why they can't go upstairs etc but I think it should be stated as some dogs may not be use to being downstairs thankfully ours was) We will likely be back again to see the area in the summer as it rained most of the time we were there but it was perfect for that cosy cottage feeling. The kitchen was really well stocked with everything you'd need for cooking which was handy!

GuestAirbnbSep 2024

We had a great week at Clackgill cottage which was well equipped and well presented for our arrival the cottage is in a quiet very small village location with some lovely walks on the doorstep for our dogs the walk up the lane outside offers spectacular views over the surrounding countryside we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A lovely home, beautifully presented. We had a family get together 6adults, a baby and a dog. The hosts provided a cot, high chair and safety gate. Lovely welcome gifts of wine, biscuits etc. Highly recommend. Thank you.

Wonderful holiday house Positive: Location, price, facilities, everything was excellent. Really appreciated the details for making it family/baby friendly (for example having children's cutlery and crockery, portacot, etc)

The (new-build) house was simply and beautifully decorated and it felt special straight away. A previous review mentioned it seeming smaller than the photos but we thought it was very spacious...I guess it depends on where you live normally. It had everything that we could have wanted / needed. Bathrooms were lovely and beds very comfortable. Host and Stay were very responsive. The views from the bedroom windows were amazing. It's a perfect place if you like walking: no need to drive anywhere. We ate sunday lunch in the village pub; the slow-roasted lamb was incredible. The Crown is very much a local's pub (we watched the Euro football final with a lively crowd in there), which we liked, but if you want a posher foodie place you'd need to drive. The listing said it had an EV charger but it doesn't. There are some listed locally in the Host and Stay information pack, but they are a drive away. Note also that the last bit of hill up into the village is VERY steep.

GuestAirbnbJan 2024

We enjoyed a lovely few days at Clackgill Cottage over New Year it was immaculate and very tastefully decorated. The kitchen inparticular was pristine and extremely well equipped. Middlesmoor is very picturesque and ideal if you like a good ramble through the Yorkshire countryside.

We stayed in Clackgill Cottage as an extended family; me, husband and our kids, my brother and his family and my parents. It was so spacious despite being maximum occupancy. Sometimes you're really squeezing into a space if you take as many people as the listing says, but we had a bedroom per couple and a room for the kids. We had some lovely days out, and were hardly even in the cottage at all really which is actually a bit of a shame! There were some great walks right on the door step but we also ventured further afield with a day in Ripon checking out the museums and cathedral, and we went TO Druid's Temple which was gorgeous to walk around. It was just really nice to spend time together as a wider family all in one place and without the usual pressures of day to day life. The listing says no travel cot but we did actually find one under the bed (took our own anyway but good to know in a pinch!)

GuestAirbnbOct 2026

We had a lovely stay, as a goodbye weekend with family before we moved overseas. The place was in an idyllic location, beautiful views and lovely walks and a pub nearby. The house was clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Great for a big group or family in the dales, and will hopefully be back one day in the future!

GuestAirbnbSep 2026

A modern house with beautiful decor with beautiful views and countryside all around. We appreciated the plentiful mugs, glasses etc in the well equipped, spacious kitchen. Bedrooms beautifully furnished with high quality bathrooms and comfy beds. A great base for our mountain biking weekend.

GuestAirbnbSep 2026

We had a great few days here. Very well equipped, good communication and in a great area. The lounge could be quite snug if you were a larger group, we spent most of our time in the kitchen diner (5 adults).

GuestAirbnbAug 2026

We had a lovely stay at Clackgill Cottage. The cottage has everything we could have needed. The beds were extremely comfortable and the area is peaceful. We wish we could have stopped for longer. We had a minor issue when the water went off in the village for a few hours which didn’t impact us as we had planned to spend most of the day exploring the area. We communicated with host and stay who contacted the owner and the owner kindly looked into the problem for us. This was resolved quickly. A huge thank you.

GuestAirbnbAug 2026

Great place in the middle of nowhere, we loved it! The kids loved the sheep and cattle grids, I loved the grouse! The home was immaculate. The living room would be small for 8 but there were 6 of us so that was fine. It was a drive to get to places but we’d researched prior to booking. It was the most expensive place I’d stayed with air b+b but it was lovely. Give pateley pizza a go it was fantastic!

GuestAirbnbAug 2026

We loved everything and nicely furnished and a beautiful view out of every window. The place had everything and we always love Nidderdale.

GuestAirbnbMay 2026

We stayed here for a motorcycle trip in the Dales. 7 of us stayed at the house in Middlesmoor which was beautifully presented, clean and well stocked. The pub just round the corner was welcoming and the food at the Lofthouse Crown was delicious

GuestAirbnbMay 2026

We stayed at Clackgill Cottage for two weeks. The house has three generous double bedrooms plus a room with two large bunk beds. A travel cot was provided. The kitchen was extremely well-equipped and there were two fridges as well as a freezer, microwave, air fryer and dishwasher. The cookware was of very high quality and the oven and hob were efficient and easy to use. There was easily parking space for three cars. The house was very tidy and clean when we arrived. There are two smart televisions in the downstairs rooms. The beds were very comfortable. The house is managed on behalf of the owners by Host and Stay, who were very responsive throughout our stay. Locally, How Stean Gorge is worth a visit and there are lots of lovely walks around Upper Nidderdale accessible from the front door. Nearest shops are in Pateley Bridge, eight miles away.

GuestAirbnbApr 2026

My family and I stayed at this house in beautiful Middlesmoor as we were attending a family event in nearby Catterick. The location was absolutely stunning. The house was lovely;warm, comfortable and cosy. The large kitchen had plenty of room for us all and was very well equipped with everything you could need. The hosts left a very handy book with details of local restaurants, villages and walks. We would definitely stay here again, maybe for longer next time in order to explore more.

Fantastic property with great contact from the hosts. Everything as per the pictures and the attention to detail with the facilities was fantastic. Was suprised/ disappointed to wake up to caravans parked directly outside the property with a view straight into the bedrooms. Not hosts fault but would have been great to have known this was a surrounding the property.
