Brilliant Positive: Cinnamon Cottage was absolutely ideal for our stay! Very clean, comfortable and great for a family of four! Location great too! Would very much recommend! Negative: Nothing

The cottage itself was lovely. Very comfortable and clean, as shown in the listing. Unfortunately my experience was spoiled by the policies of the agent, Host and Stay . Immediately after booking the property and paying I was contacted to either pay a non refundable insurance policy of £25, or pay a damage waiver of £250 ( of which only £240 would be refunded due to a £10 “ administration fee”). I was very disappointed by this, it should be made clear at the time of booking. I also felt rather hounded on the day of check out to be repeatedly texted and reminded of the check out time . As a large family staying in multiple Air Bnbs around Barnard castle, I was the only one to have a negative experience. My family all had no problems dropping their baggage off prior to check in time but unfortunately this was not possible at this cottage . I would not recommend booking with this agency, but the actual property is lovely.

Comfortable rental for two people in a handy location. Positive: Clean and tidy and well decorated. The kitchen was well stocked. The beds were comfortable. The location was good. The lounge seating comfortable. The heating worked well and was easy to use. Negative: Very low ceiling in the second bedroom. This place would be unsuitable for four people. Only two chairs for the dining table. There was no slip mat in the bathroom. There was no welcome pack, only five tea bags. The back yard was scuffy. The communication regarding the access code was very late coming. There was no bannister rail on the stairs.

Great Positive: The location was ideal for walking around and also giving us close proximity to a wedding we were attending. Dog friendly allowed us walks around the beautiful scenery nearby and put us close to amenities whenever needed. Negative: On street parking was a slight issue in that other road users continued to cause no vehicle access by parking to block cars going around the small streets. We had no issues as we hardly used the car.

Really well turned-out property conveniently close to high street. Would use again. Positive: The quality of finish is exceptional. It feels luxurious; the gold in the bathroom underlines this particular aim. Plenty of sockets located close to bed which very important for my requirements. Comfortable bed. Nice courtyard area to sit outside,weather permitting. TV simple to use and provided a range of options. Location is very central and easy to access high street. Negative: On-street parking not really an option without blocking traffic. Ware Street is very narrow, so although you can unload car outside property, I’d recommend the long stay parking which is close by and only £1.60 for 24 hours. There was no data signal inside, I had to go to courtyard to use phone. However, in fairness, there was probably wi-fi available but I didn’t bother to check. The nature of my stay meant I wasn’t going to be using the cottage for much other than bathing and sleeping.

Lovely Place Positive: Very Good Negative: Two comments 1. The stairs needs a handrail as the stairs quite steep, for old folk & young Children 2. Unfortunately, our wives didn’t have a day out on the Saturday, as we had split the keys off the key ring enable us to out fishing, we took one of the keys of the ring, thinking That we had left the other front door key behind, as they could not the lock the front door, meant our wives had to stay in as they couldn’t lock the house up. The other key was for back yard, noticing the back wall had opening had been blocked up, they didn’t go out into the back yard, only on Sunday we found there is a door. If the keys had been marked as such, that may have a different outcome for their day, you can’t see the back door from the kitchen window. Can you suggest having two front doors keys, then it wouldn’t happen to any other guests or couples, staying at the house.

Great cottage in great location for town. So well decorated & styled with comfy beds. The back yard was a bonus especially with our dog, could keep the door open knowing he couldn’t get out. All contact & instructions clear & easy.

Slap bang in the centre walking distance to the high street and Bowes museum would 100% recommend this stunning litte cottage for weekend retreat and location.

Cosy and comfortable apartment in charming and convenient location. Positive: It looked exactly like the pictures. Someone had obviously gone to a lot of trouble to decorate every room nicely. It had a comfortable and cosy vibe. We really loved the cute historic street where it was located. Negative: It took us a bit of time to figure out how to adjust the heating.

Lovely cottage in Barnard Castle. Great for 2 couples. I would stay again. Lovely clean towels and bedding. It was a shame about the visible dust. We enjoyed our stay.

The cottage is excellent and well worth the money, 100% I will book again, the sofa and the fridge hadn’t been cleaned properly but I always take a throw and took me 15minutes to clean the fridge and all good.

I loved our stay at Cinnamon Cottage. So close to Barnard Castle, with great shops and plenty of food options on our doorstep. Blown away by County Durham, the friendly people, beautiful countryside. It was like going back in time to England 30 years ago. The cottage was clean, homely and well equipped with everything we needed. A week spent recharging with some quality down time ❤️❤️❤️

Positive: Well fitted out with modern fittings and furnishings with no signs of wear. Comfortable beds. Very clean throughout. Convenient location for nearby town centre and food shops. Negative: The street light outside the front bedroom.

Great little place!!! Everything we needed. Good location and quiet, parking was tight but manageable. Might want to consider parking a little further where there is more space.

We enjoyed our stay at Cinnamon Cottage. It’s fairly well equipped and is clean and comfortable. Ideally situated in the centre of town. Parking was never a problem- we often parked overnight in Morrisons. Many thanks

It was a nice stay, but the place is slightly on the small side and was quite dusty. The kitchen could do with a few more utensils/pans and basis condiments. Its a really nice location though and the host was friendly and responsive.

Positive: Great location. Nice cottage. We enjoyed our trip. Negative: Could have done with a few extra kitchen utensils/equipment as very limited for a self catering cottage but we managed with what was available.

Lovely little cottage right in the town

We had a lovely stay in Cinnamon Cottage, ideal location for the wedding that we attended at Lartington Hall. Great bars and restaurants close by too!

This was an amazing place to stay! Such a beautiful house and incredible location. Everything in Barnard Castle was in walking distance. Space was clear and clean. Only downside was the hot water occasionally needed to be reset to work. Overall, a great stay. Would definitely recommend.

Great stay and location. Close to pubs shops and food, also fab for if you need a place to stay for a Runa farm wedding.

Hidden gem in County Durham Positive: The location of the house was excellent. Local co-op and Morrisons within a 4 minute walk. Barnard castle is less than 10 minutes away. Various pubs, bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. Very clean and well maintained house. Comfortable beds, nice kitchen and bathroom. Lounge area was great with a comfy sofa, small table with chairs and other seating. Smart TV with Netflix etc (if you have an account log in to use) Paved garden at the rear for a quiet cuppa, weather permitting. The communication from the owners prior to arrival was excellent. They even have an App with hints, instructions etc to help with our stay. Very nice touch! Negative: Not a problem for us, but there is no hand rail for going up and down the stairs, and may be a problem for some. Having said that, with a little care, the stairs are easily managed. Parking could be a bit tricky if busy, but during our stay it was ok. The provided app gives suggestions about alternatives if needed.

The cottage was great, all you would need for a good relaxing holiday, we did have a problem with the boiler on arrival but that was quickly sorted out by the agency, in all the cottage was perfect for our needs, the only down side was the fact we had our car keyed outside the cottage, but I suppose that could happen anywhere!

Ideally located to stroll through Barnard Castle and wander round the many shops and pubs with plenty of amenities on your doorstep. We had everything we needed for a short stay and it’s always lovely to walk into a place that is clean and well kept. On street parking is available but remember the streets are narrow and twisty so not ideal for bigger cars!

Positive: The fittings and furnishings in the cottage were to a very high standard. It was very comfortable ,clean and beautifully decorated. Negative: The stairs would be difficult for people with mobility issues.

Cinnamon cottage was spotlessly clean, (thanks Nicola) and super cozy as well as being lovely and warm as we walked it which was very much appreciated after a very long drive on a cold night!

Very cosy feel to this house, we loved every minute being here!! Very close to the centre of town and the supermarket is only around the corner!!! The parking is a little hard but you do manage to grab a space after a little trouble.

Leuke, gezellige cottage dicht bij de winkels in een rustige buurt. Alle benodigdheden aanwezig. Enige minpuntje dat er alleen een wc boven is in de badkamer.

I wanted to share some feedback regarding my recent stay at your property. As a Christian, I found certain aspects of the lounge decor to be deeply offensive, as they appeared to depict themes that I believe amount to blasphemy. This made me feel quite uncomfortable during my stay. While I understand and respect the right to artistic expression and personal style, I believe it would be helpful — and more considerate — to include a note in the listing stating that the property contains decor that may not align with all religious or cultural values. This would allow guests with different beliefs, such as those of the Christian faith, to make a fully informed decision before booking. Thank you for taking the time to consider this feedback.

Excellent would def stay again Positive: Great location in town centre close to shops and places to eat and drink. Cottage was lovely, very clean, decorated really nice. Had all amenities for our stay Negative: Court yard was ok and we had great weather but small table and chairs and bench were really uncomfortable. Think to make this cottage perfect need to tidy it up and have some better seating. It is a perfect sun trap great for outdoor eating.

I lovely little house in town. Clean, tidy and smart, it met our needs for a long week-end visiting relatives in Barnard Castle and surroundings. Close to town centre and Bowes Museum. Very satisfied.

Great property, terrible agents Positive: The property was really well presented and comfortable. No problems at all with the property itself. Negative: The letting agency that handles this property is terrible. They took my booking as an opportunity to market stuff at me again and again through booking.com messages. It got ridiculous. They also have a very suspicious looking payment method - there are literally articles that you can find online easily that say what they use as their payment method is the method favoured by scammers.

The service bill -£60- is too high for a 2 night stay. It needs to have kitchen roll in the kitchen. Those are the negatives. The positives are - Lovely peaceful setting. Easy parking. V comfortable beds.

Charlie was great throughout. A wonderful host. He provided all the required information to check in and made finding the property really simple. Would highly recommend this home.

Lovely place. Communication a little messy Positive: Beautifully decorated, lovely place. Great location. Negative: Excessive messages, 20 odd messages from the host, some were the same repeated waiver form that I had completed twice. The payment method was not clear. They messaged multiple times to request payment with no way of me actually doing so until I messaged the second time, and they eventually sent me an invoice.

The decor is lovely and it's easy to walk into the town which is lovely but the extra cost was unfair and there was no ability to use washing machine (plug stuck under top). The sofa was full of crumbs. It's such a shame it really dampened our enjoyment it could have been really nice
