Positive: very spacious house . It's great for family .

We have had a lovely family get away at castle view. The location was perfect less than a 10 minute walk to the beach and in the town centre. We had everything we needed and the house is huge! plenty of space for a larger group of people. Would definitely stay again

Extremely disapponitng. Positive: Location. Negative: The whole downstairs was uninhabitable due to the smell. There was a leak under the kitchen floor that I reported immediately but nothing was done to sort out the wet floor/smell and despite multiple attempts at contact and completing a complaint form, I’m still waiting for a suitable response nearly 2 months later. We couldn’t use the kitchen as the floor was like a wet sponge and the smell spread throughout the property. Someone did come when we were out (which was alot of the time as we didn’t want to be in there) and removed the kick boards in the kitchen which only made matters worse. The stair carpet was also loose in 2 places which was dangerous. Our stay here ruined a family break.

Lovely house, great position, only one problem Positive: The central location in Scarborough was really great. The house was very well furnished and equipped, with comfortable beds and lovely bathrooms. Negative: I don't like to criticise but there was a serious issue with the kitchen floor - it was damp and the more we walked on it the more water seeped out between the laminate floor boards. We suspect there is a leak somewhere underneath the floor, and it needs investigation and when resolved will need new flooring. The kitchen was beautifully appointed but we spent very little time in there because of this - we had damp socks and there was a damp smell which the children really didn't like. We have received a 10% refund because I complained, but disappointingly no assurance that the problem was being addressed.

We had a fabulous family time and the house was brilliant. Positive: It was very well decorated and top class furnishings, we loved it. There was just a few minor things like the hob had burnt on food on it and some of the oven trays hadn’t been cleaned. I think the previous renters must have done it, just to let you know we left it as we would like to find it. We will definitely book it again when we’re next in Scarborough. Great location and house - fine if you don’t want to watch TV or have WiFi. Shocking customer service Positive: The location was great! Rooms were comfortable and stylish and a great size house for the 7 of us that stayed. There is a car park directly opposite the house which was approx £10 for 24 hours so very convenient. Negative: This would have been a 10/10 stay but what ruined it for us was the property was advertised with the huge tv in the family lounge and WiFi. However, neither worked! The TV only turned on and just had a blank screen and said it needed to be connected to the internet - the internet router had the amber light constantly on from the moment we arrived. Very disappointing with young children staying with us. Despite over 7 calls to the Host & Stay number over the course of the weekend, the first one being Friday afternoon when we arrived, no one came back to us to advise how the issue would be rectified. It never was. Shocking customer service. Do not stay here if you want to use WiFi or watch TV!

Great family stay We stayed here for Christmas bringing two families together with the grandparents. It was perfect for us! Lots of space for the kids, lovely rooms for everyone, well equipped kitchen. It’s in a great location with easy access to the beaches, the castle and lots of restaurants, cafes and shops in walking distance. Highly recommend!

Excellent property had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay would definitely recommend!! Positive: Location is great only 7 min walk to the tram down to the beach. It was a wonderful property very clean and well decorated. Beds were heavenly. 5 Star property. Negative: No instructions how to use the dish washer and electric hob, they would have been helpful and could not get BBC or IITV freeview channels???

Had a great few days with the extended family, good location and property. Positive: Great location, many places within walking distance. Spacious, clean and comfortable property. Welcome provisions and childrens items was appreciated. Negative: Parking, unfortunately the advertised free street parking, not quite accurate. Only free after 6pm, so interim parking fees necessary. As the property sleeps 10, you are looking at a minimum of 3 cars, so a nightmare to make sure you didn’t get a parking ticket and street machines could only be topped up for a very short stay, if you didn’t have a parking app to pay. Nearest car park, was a staff only on weekdays. 24hr car parks not far, but again because of number of cars, had to think about organising and need to take into consideration the cost of these, on top of your stay. The property is a town house, so need to be aware; it has 4 floors including ground floor, so need to consider stairs, as there are a lot, especially if you’re in the loft bedroom. Only the top 2 floors had bathrooms, so inconvenient for the 1st floor bedrooms, as have to go upstairs to use.

Positive: Lovely house, very clean, Brilliant location. Just what we needed for 2 families together, families making memories

Ideal location, needs a good clean & lick of paint Positive: Location great mid point for both North & South beach, that actual size of house was great for a 3 family's with children. Negative: First impression, the front door is so worn, paint coming off it- really does give you an instant judgement call. However when you actually get in the house it is so big and ideal for a mixed group. The overall cleanliness is not good, marks all over carpets, walls and could really do with a lick of paint and a good thorough clean. Also it smells of damp this did not change over the 4 days we were there even with air fresheners we bought. I would say that if you are a hen party, stag party and are not to fussed looking beyond this its a great place to stay as bed linen bedrooms were clean.

Full family stay at the host and stay - castle view Positive: Massive bedrooms and space for all, good location close enough to the front and old town, good spacious lounge and dining area and kitchen was huge. Negative: Could do with some new furniture downstairs as one of the sofas is quite rickety. Every now and again someone needs to go around and tightening up the bolts in the beds as they have come loose over time. States that there is parking on a first come basis on the street outside, this is true how ever it's all pay and display, there is a carpark just opposite which is handy but again it's pay and display, as t nearly £10 per day if you have a few cars( which I imagine you would in a 5 double bedroom property) then it can soon add up. They could offer out parking permits which are free to residents of Scarborough some places even charge a small amount for these, but it's nowhere near the price of paying at the meter. There are plenty of permit only parking in and around the area which would help out the people staying massively. At some point there has been a couple of leaks, not sure if it's the piping or come from next door as they seem to be on the adjoining walls

Amazing home, very clean and well kept. Location is great, walking distance to the beach and main commercial areas. Would definitely go here again!

A great stay and very helpful host. 10/10 would stay again

The property is presented as the photos and looks clean and modern. The fridge however did need cleaning when we arrived. It's located centrally which has its benefits for visiting both the South and North bays. Room size was adequate with some very good, lots of stairs. Bathrooms were clean with some wear and tear- there had clearly been a leak previously from the shower and water marks and possible damp remained on the ceiling. Hot water was great and showers adequate. Damp was apparent in several areas of the property and is clearly an issue for houses of this era. This seems to have been painted over rather than dealt with. We had a 2 year old who suffered with challenging asthma so this was a concern for us but they slept in a room with less issues. The kitchen had most things needed, a pair of scissor and pan scrubber would be useful. There was plenty of crockery etc. a couple of tea towels, 1 dishwasher tablet, soap, a couple of bin bags and a j cloth were provided.

Living room, kitchen, 3 bedrooms had dampness on the walls which were quite bad, cleanliness was ok but not great, location was ideal and central for all attractions, don’t think it was worth 1,100 for 3 nights!!

Massive property in a great location for what we needed.

This property could be so much more than it is, the very obvious issues with multiple areas of damp in the bedrooms and living room really let down what would be a great place to stay. It’s conveniently located and there is parking outside, although free between 6pm and 9am, you can only stay for 2 hours max outside of these hours, this wasn’t clear in the description. The cleanliness was let down by a couple of avoidable oversights, there was rubbish and chewing gum in one of the bedside tables, the fridge has an awful smell about it. It really hate leaving less than positive reviews, some TLC and this property would be great and I hope that the comments are taken as constructive feedback.

Fantastic location and gorgeous house would definetly stay here again.

This is an absolutely stunning spacious property, there is loads of room and the living, kitchen areas are very comfortable. Despite an inch of dust ontop of the TV all surfaces were clean.There was plenty of space for food in the kitchen, which is nice to have. There is also plenty of crockery and cutlery. Dishwasher tablets were provided. The TV and internet worked well for us (you can only watch Netflix and Prime on TV though)The main bedroom on the first floor was disappointing to say the least. The leg on the bed was broken and you could feel every spring in the mattress which meant it was unusable. We contacted host and stay, they did not comment ont he broken bed and thanked us for raising the mattress issue however there was no attempt to improve this for us during our stay. Making our stay very uncomfortable. The other bedrooms were comfortable and spacious. The bed linen was of good quality.Mirrors in the bedrooms had been wiped with a dirty cloth making them unuseable.The bathrooms were clean and to a good standard. There is good water pressure. Hand towels were not provided which is a shame.The property is located close to the town centre and beach, the road is popular with people and cars. There is a pay and display carpark in the road opposite which makes parking for the property easy. There are a good range of pubs close to the property and a short walk takes you into the town centre.This could easily be a 5 property.

Positive: Nothing a bad experience from the start Negative: Property was damaged bed had one leg broken carpet leading to loft room dangerous it's a law suit waiting to happen beds rickety . stains on leany every wall .floor in several places Sinks. Cant see out of windows so dirty was expecting wow from pictures but got o my God. Couldn't get enybody to come out and see all the problems ruined our holiday 😒

Positive: The location was great. The living spaces were great. All the bedrooms were clean. Negative: The property is a little bit tired in places. Could do with a freshen up.

This is a really great location for visiting Scarborough! Plenty of crockery, glasses and cutlery (though missing scissors).

Absolutely lovely spacious house with beautiful bedrooms. Negative: No issues whatsoever.

Positive: On the whole everything was very good and we all had a great time in a very comfortable and nicely decorated house. Negative: The carpet on the stairs was dangerous as not fastened down properly so couple nearly fell. Not enough toilet rolls for amount of people. There were quite a few patches of damp which felt cold.

the house was lovely the owners(not host and stay) had obviously spent money with the renovation etc. but there was a" water leak" beneath the kitchen floor and when you walk on it water comes up between the joints and it made the kitchen and downstairs rooms stink. The boards are sodden, delaminating and crumbling in places.we had to keep the doors closed and wear shoes if we went into the kitchen to avoid wet socks. host and stay promised to send someone, no one came, they just aren't interested,.We paid over£1000 for a house with an unsanitary kitchen. owners should find another management company as whatevers wrong is damaging their property. Host and Stay should take responsibility. Airbnb resolution process etc is confusing and still ongoing

Great place, perfect for our needs

It’s a nice central location, easy walk to restaurants and the beachfront. Parking permits were supplied, but it is very limited where you can use them. I got very lucky but still had to pay £9 for parking our final day. Doors and door locks can be difficult to operate, so not so good for elderly or young children, likewise the stairs are quite steep being an older property with lovely high ceilings. The windows are single glazing and we struggled with the road noise, garbage bin men, and pub goers (did not know Scarborough used to be the pub capital of England!!! There are lots of revellers and they like to get home noisily… one old man was playing a trombone at 3am lol!) and my wife’s least favourite -the seagull cacophony early in the morning. The house itself has been renovated quite well, although could use hand towel rails and shelves in bathrooms and a soap dish in the wc. The wifi passcode is available from Host&Stay if you ask for it, we had terrible mobile reception.
