Captain cooks lodge Positive: Absolutely wonderful lodge very clean & spacious couldn't find a fault with me and my 4 friend had the best weekend away chilled peacefully and very happy will definitely be returning

On the whole it was comfy and clean inside. A few adjustments and the stay would have been perfect. Positive: The beds were comfy and plenty of space in the lodge. The view overlooking the duck pond was lovely and tranquil. The extra bathroom was very useful for 5 ladies. Negative: I had asked in advance of our weekend if hot tub towels were provided. I was told they were. What we were not made aware of was there was 1 towel per person for both the hot tub and bathing. I would suggest this is made clear within the booking details. The outside furniture was dirty and cushions wet, resulting in us cleaning and trying to dry the cushions. The chemicals in the hot tub were over powering, resulting in our eyes streaming and not able to use for long. The kitchen was not well stocked, ie plastic glasses for the hot tub, no champagne flutes, wine glasses of different sizes. We wanted to use the sauna. After reading the sign, we went to reception to book/sign in for the use. To find reception was closed. I contacted Host & Stay who contacted the owners. There were no instructions on how to use the sauna. Therefore we did not use it.

Really impressed with the surroundings and lodge. Great location. Couldn’t believe the size of the lodge and terrace- lovely and spacious. Beautiful surroundings around a large pond with wildlife. Hot tub was lovely although could only get a couple of jets working- didn’t spoil anything though. Great value for money and nice, relaxing weekend with friends. Will likely return in the future.

Lovely lodges, beautiful views & grounds, would go again

The stay was lovely... Was so peaceful and didn't hear any noise from others staying. Very spacious inside and out. Beautiful area to stay in and will definitely be back here... My mother loved the friendly ducks that come right up to back of the chalet and was glad she had brought her bird feed 😂 everything was clean on arrival and easy check in. Would highly recommend this place to stay if you enjoy alot of peace a quiet. Thank you again for being a great host ☺️

Great value for money and lovely location, comfy beds, loved the lake and the ducks were great!! A couple of improvements, bbq has seen better days, freezer off on arrival causing provided ice to melt, when all cabins are in use it’s not as private as I would like but definitely not a deal breaker!

We had family over from Canada and it was great to all be together in such a wonderful, place with plenty of room for everyone.

A lovely family stay at Roseberry, we really enjoyed the hot tub and country walk into the local village. Peaceful and the cabin was well equipped.

Captain Cooks Lodge was beautiful! So spacious and luxurious. The hot tub was perfectly clean and ready for us to jump in on arrival. The site is lovely and clean too and all the lodges are a good distance apart which makes the property feel private and quiet. The gas BBQ is a good addition and we used this both nights - although it didn’t feel completely spotless - but it was tricky to clean, being cast iron. Kitchen was fabulous - such a gorgeous space to socialise with family - had everything we needed! The only issue we had was there was no parasol and we came during the May heatwave. We called the Host&Stay number and was told that the owner would drop us one off the next day as it was too late that evening. However, no parasol was delivered during our stay. The other lodges had parasols. Only a minor issue and I imagine they hadn't expected the heatwave or need for parasols in May. Otherwise, a perfect stay and we will definitely return!
