Quaint budget cottage Positive: The location is fantastic - you are almost straight out to the harbor and fresh sea air. The decorative features brought joy as we spotted something new in the cottage every day. Negative: The cleanliness of the property - it was dusty, with cobwebs, thick dust under the sofas. The kitchen equipment was not cleaned properly and some of it in poor condition. Noisy at night/ early morning due to pub next door - loud people, emptying bottle bins.

Cute and comfortable cottage in a convenient spot. Positive: Great location, very convenient for the harbour, beach, restaurants and coastal path. The property is good value for money. Nice bathroom. Everything we needed for a short stay in the kitchen. Living room comfortable enough. Nice decor. Negative: Low door lintels against which my tall friend bumped his head a few times. The bulbs in the living room needed changing - very dim. No bedside lamp in 1st floor room.

The accommodation was lovely, dog friendly which was ideal for 4 of us plus 2 dogs, in an ideal location close to the shops, beach, ect. Charlie responded immediately to queries, even early hours of the morning. I will definitely book again.

Okay for the price Location was hard to find, had to ask someone in a local shop. It is not accessible and up cobbled steps. We had two dogs and a 6 month old in a pram so that was difficult to navigate. The yard space was okay to let the dogs out and there is a gate but it was always being left open by others so if you have dogs who like to run off, this is not good. The property itself - it did the job. It was somewhere to sleep however not somewhere I think would be comfortable to stay in all day or for long-term as it is cramped. The fridge wasn’t clean and there was a lot of cobwebs throughout the property. You can see downstairs in between the floorboards on the middle floor which made me feel uneasy. Bathroom was good although again could have been cleaned to a better standard. The bedroom on the top floor does not have a door so bear that in mind. I would not be comfortable in this property with small children who can walk as the staircases aren’t very safe - carpet coming up on the actual stairs, wallpaper coming off the wall, winding, creaky staircase. The worst thing about this property is the constant and overwhelming smell of fish and chips. You wake up to the smell of battered fish, and go to bed smelling it. Even with the windows and window vents closed. This was a real issue for me as I have an extremely sensitive nose and made me vomit throughout my stay. I’m unsure how the owners could resolve this issue however. Overall, not bad for the price but I wouldn’t stay here again.

So disappointed, the house was dirty. There is no mention/ images of access to the building itself regarding elderly or disabled, my Nan is 84 and listing should state access to the property is not by road and involves steps. Asked about early check in, was told strictly 4 which is understandable if on arrival was clean but it wasn’t, no offer for us to drop bags off and had to park miles away. The place smelt fusty and was covered in dust, cobwebs, dead and alive spiders, toothpaste in bathroom, toilet was dirty, mould in the shower and on the show unit itself. Lovely feature to have a jacuzzi bath but it wasn’t clean enough to want to use it. The sink wouldn’t drain and when we took the plug out to see the hair and gunk was just disgusting, Someone before us had ever written the word dirty in the glass shade. No washing up liquid and 1 toilet roll between 4 for 3 days is poor. Everywhere I looked was just dirt and it honestly ruined the trip, we travelled a total of 6 hours.

Lovely wee cottage. Couldn’t sleep well though. Positive: Clean , dog friendly, well appointed Negative: Over cluttered for a small space- too many nick knacks Tricky to find entrance - could have better directions. Stayed for3 nights- only one days parking permit. ( managed to get a disc from pavilion which helped massively) Woken at 5 every morning by gulls standing on roof and heralding the dawn . Possible nest in chimney? The sound was amplified down into the wee lounge. Thereafter there was loud noises from the bar adjacent emptying bottles into bins etc and staff noise. As an old fisherman’s cottage there is absolutely no sound insulation. Perfect if you need to be up early to go catch fish. Not so great when u want to sleep past 5.30 am. .

Candyfloss cottage is in a great location right in the heart of Whitby. The cottage has everything you need for a great trip away. It was clean and tidy and well decorated. My daughters also enjoyed the jacuzzi bath. It’s not the easiest places to find but is real gem.

No welcome pack and not even 1 full toilet roll. Positive: Location Negative: No WiFi, no flooring in bathroom, pipes sticking out without any radiator attached in bathroom. Not the cleanest of places we have visited. Renovation work should have been finished before our stay.

spoilt by the no parking

GuestAirbnbMay 2026

Fabulous little cottage in the heart of Whitby. We found following the instructions about drop off and parking spots easy. Cottage was well set up, clean and comfortable. Really appreciated the treats in the kitchen! Location is amazing, right by the harbour. We loved going for walks first thing in the morning before it got busy. We were lucky to bump into the owner who was super friendly and helpful.

What a gorgeous cottage tucked away in the centre of Whitby. Perfect location, lovely and cosy inside and the hosts were extremely helpful when we called needing help finding the property. Will stay again

perfect place everything we needed and had the best time

LisaBooking.comOct 2025

Disappointed 😞 Positive: Location once advised about parking permits Negative: Not clear direction to property, would also have appreciated being advise how offsite parking was. Property, other than bedding, was not clean. Very dusty and a bit smelly, especially bathroom drains. Dead flowers in stagnant water in lounge area. Sticky surfaces generally. Not hoovered eg dirty sock on bedroom floor in loft room. Tray in lounge on box chest had ketchup spilt on it. Glass in bathroom so dirty it was unusable. We spent very little time in cottage but really enjoyed Whitby itself.

Positive: It's a sweet little cottage. Really gives you a feel of a fishing village. We really enjoyed having an open fire. The location was great for looking around whitby and enjoying the nightlife. Negative: The lighting is not the greatest

We had an absolutely lovely time at Candyfloss cottage. Such a beautiful little fisherman’s cottage which is filled with lots of curiosities and unique decor. It is a little tricky to find, but we loved how it was hidden away down a quaint little back alley. You are literally 30 seconds walk from the harbour and all of the amenities and 1 minute away from the beach. The house has a steep winding staircase as it’s an old cottage, so someone of limited mobility would struggle. However, I liked them as it helped me to achieve my daily step count. The kitchen had everything that we needed and it even has a washing machine which is helpful when you are on a longer stay. Charlie from Host and Stay was super helpful and responsive. We will definitely be back.

Great little cottage in the centre of Whitby. Positive: The location was brilliant right in the centre of Whitby. The beds were comfortable and the property very cute. Negative: The main living area wasn't cleaned up to expectations, however, the hosts were very understanding about this and said they would take action. Not a problem for me but this property would not be suitable for anyone with mobility problems as the staircases are very narrow steep. Also some of the bulbs were not working, but again the hosts are now aware.

GuestAirbnbAug 2025

The cottage was delightful, clean and tidy, and only a one minute from the main street. Also just a few minutes walk to the beach. The facilities suited us. The only problem we had was finding it. It's within a multitude of back alleys and lanes with poor signage. Using one of the car parks is essential if you don't have a permit. Overall, we enjoyed our stay

Lovely place in the heart of Whitby which meant that everything was within walking distance during our stay.

Great, cozy house in a great location

GuestAirbnbJul 2025

Great location right in the centre of charming Whitby, in a quiet back alleyway. One spacious twin bedroom and a loft room with double bed. Fully fitted open plan kitchen with all amenities. Interior shows some signs of wear and tear, but overall a good location and I’d be happy to book again.

GuestAirbnbJun 2025

Nice quirky cottage in a central location. I have it 4/5 not because it was bad but I only give properties 5/5 if I think they are extremely special.

GuestAirbnbJun 2025

A little instructional video walking from the main street to the property would be perfect. I also think slightly better instructions with parking would help. Having to park a little walk from the parking areas to the property leaves a little room for a parking attendant to catch you out.

GuestAirbnbJun 2025

We loved our stay, perfect location. Parking was a bit of a pain but that’s Whitby and nothing to do with the house. We would stay again and will do next year for our annual Whitby trip Thank you

GuestAirbnbMay 2025

Lovely sweet little cottage. Very clean. So close to everything for tourism. Host is so helpful via message and gets back to you so quickly. I was very reassured to know I could just ask any queries and they would be answered almost immediately. I’ll definitely use Host & Stay again.

GuestAirbnbMay 2025

Delightful little cottage. Traditional, clean, cosy, great interior design and all necessary items for a stay of any length. 2 min walk to all amenities....a little further to abbey plus 199 steps ! Very quiet location. Would stay again.

Right in the center of town easy to get to all attractions and restaurants

GuestAirbnbApr 2025

I had an absolutely delightful stay at Candyfloss Cottage in Whitby! This charming, impeccably clean cottage is a true gem, perfectly blending cozy comfort with modern amenities. The location is unbeatable—just a short stroll from Whitby’s vibrant harbor, quaint shops, and iconic abbey. The decor is stylish yet warm, and the beds were so comfortable we didn’t want to leave! Every detail, from the well-equipped kitchen to the speedy Wi-Fi, was spot-on. I can’t recommend Candyfloss Cottage highly enough—5 stars all the way for an unforgettable Whitby escape!

GuestAirbnbApr 2025

The perfect location to explore Whitby. clean and had everything we needed. host very responsive to messages

GuestAirbnbApr 2025

Beautiful and packed with history Super close to main areas

MichelleBooking.comMar 2025

Absolutely adorable! Positive: Absolutely a wonderful little cottage and an amazing town and the people are awesome. Negative: There was no outside lighting to show the way to the cottage or outside lighting AT the cottage. Thankfully the neighbors was kind enough to leave his porch light on for us on Saturday evening. The walkway to the cottage is totally dark and under a construction scaffolding.

JacquelineBooking.comMar 2025

Positive: Very close to centre Negative: Parking was on street quite a distance away from cottage. Thought it was mean not to let us in 1 hour early but then ask for fee to be in at 11 am. Carpet onto second floor coming away from gripper - hazard that needs sorting.

GuestAirbnbMar 2025

Lovely stay in Whitby at the Candyfloss Cottage. Great location central to the centre. Clean, tidy and with all the amenities expected.

GuestAirbnbJan 2025

Homely quirky little cottage ,great location ,would definitely recommend

GuestAirbnbJan 2025

A lovely cottage tucked away in a very central location. The real fire makes all the difference for a cosy night in and the beds were very comfortable. This is possibly the best cottage we have stayed in in Whitby so far.

GuestAirbnbJan 2025

All in all a quirky and cute place that is an excellent location for the town. It definitely needs better directions to find it though. Be sure to pack light as loading bays may not be free of other vehicles and longer stay permit parking is a long way away and difficult to find. The map for this W parking did not help us much. If you do get in the loading bay then the trips up the stairs, through the narrow alleys, and into the hidden square through a little gate are still not that fun, particularly in the dark! The property itself needed a good dust, but was clean enough. It has 2 good bedrooms, the double at the top being a bed only accessible from the bottom of it and not the sides. The stairs are very steep but have helpful banisters. A little more lighting is certainly needed in the living room and my tall other half bashed his head many times on the main light which could do with a rethink. Other than these small things we thought it was lovely and enjoyed our stay a great deal.

Lovely little cottage, warm and welcoming, compact but everything you needed. Otherwise have loved our stay and would highly recommend ❤️
