Good weekend family getaway Positive: Modern, comfortable rooms, great location, clean facilities. Negative: Wasnt obvious where to leave rubbish after our stay.
Lovely cottage and fab location defo stay again. Positive: Location excellent, home beautiful Negative: A few cleaning issues for example half eaten babies pouch food tucked down the sofa cushions, heating terrible to figure out also
Positive: Very comfortable cottage for our family weekend. Everything we could have needed and a real home from home. The sofas and beds were very comfortable. Tv has all usual apps. Complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and toiletries. Excellent location off the main road near amusements. Very peaceful stay and we will definitely be back. Negative: The heating took some getting used to as we couldn't understand why it was not getting warm...the heating is in Fahrenheit not Celsius so once we set it correctly it was lovely and toasty. The double bed in the main bedroom could be swapped to a king as there is enough room in the bedroom. This is only a suggestion and it is the only thing that I could mention which would make our stay more comfortable. By no way would it put us off coming again though.
All in all this is a really lovely little cottage and well worth a stay if you come to Whitby. We would stay here again Positive: Great little cottage! Location very near the main harbour however the cottage is set up a quite steep alley so might be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. The cottage was spotless and had everything you need for a comfortable stay especially in the kitchen. Loved all the little touches like tea, coffee, sugar, milk, cleaning products, bathroom products. In the storage cupboard there was iron, ironing board, beach chairs, hoover, even a lovely picnic bag with all picnic equipment! Beds were comfy and bedding was crisp and clean. The cottage location makes the cottage quite dark so you need lights on for your stay but this was not an issue for us. Negative: Few little things but nothing that would ruin your stay. Weather was very warm during our stay and the bedrooms get unbearably hot! Windows only open on safety latch (which i know will be safety policy) so you cant open them wide to get any air flow through. A fan in the bedrooms would definitley be a bonus for the hotter months. Carpet in living area and stairs cream coloured and bit grubby - could do with being updated. Shower screen is on a sliding hinge and came off its runner a few times during our stay. More loo roll to be left for guests as only 1 roll supplied for our family of 4 for a 3 night stay. With children loo roll us used for many other things and gets used very quick. No hairdryer - this would be useful to have in the room.
Family getaway Positive: Great little cottage, perfect location. I would highly recommend, parking was only up the road at good prices, easy to find, had everything you need to have a lovely break, great communication from owners Negative: There was a few small things, but nothing that would deter us from returning,
Mark and cindy Positive: Location cleanliness Negative: Nothing
As storm Darragh hit Whitby we did feel quite snug A pleasant stay to celebrate my husband’s birthday Positive: Clean and cosy Adequate size Negative: It took quite a long time for the cottage to get warm Thankfully after a phone conversation we were able to sort and get hot water But it was so cold on our arrival for at least a couple of hours Access and parking were challenging No good for anyone with mobility issues and parking should be highlighted as quite a distance
A cosy little cottage for a cute weekend away Positive: The property was spotlessly clean and comfortable! It had such a cosy homely feel to it! Perfect for a weekend away! Negative: We struggled with parking, so maybe more suggestions for car parking but the property definitely made up for that!
Cottage was as described, accurate photos, tricky to pull up & unload so don’t take too much! Cliff St car park is closest, all same price. Kitchen & living room great, didn’t manage tv channels but no bother, beds comfy, bedding pillows all comfy, clean & fresh. Recommend staying here.. Literally 2 mins to harbour. Walk Whitby to Robin Hoods Bay - superb.
Positive: Comfortable and clean Negative: Big hill to climb to cottage when disabled
We had a lovely time at Brecon cottage 25th August to 28th August. Right in the heart of Whitby with easy access to all the town. Coop close by and all the tourist attractions and ice cream you could want. Particularly handy for the quayside fish and chips probably the best! 😎 parking is challenging but found cliff street car park a stones throw from accommodation and all was great. Lovely well equipped accommodation, dog friendly and the perfect base to explore God’s best county. Tim
Stayed here had to cancel are dinner plans as we had no hot water which the dinner was a birthday meal and was only reason for trip so pointless took most the night to sort it out. Have made a complaint and got nothing back was almost a week ago. Absolutely shocking really, carpets are filthy toilet stinks of wee and no hot water not worth the money stayed in cheaper accommodation and been looked after better in short don't waste your money on this one.
Ok but not great for little ones - too noisy and small Positive: Stayed with a baby and found beds good for co sleeping. Plenty of room downstairs for baby to crawl about safely. Very clean bedding and well equipped kitchen. Negative: Location was quite noisy due to people walking past and seagulls. Doors creaked and slammed easily (annoying with a sleeping baby). No travel cot provided despite request. Bedrooms very hot in summer.
Great central location, did not need the car once during our stay. Was it was just us two friends sharing we found the accommodation to be sufficiently spacious and the rooms were fresh, clean and airy. Only found couple of considerations Steep narrow path from main road to front door OK for us but may not suit everyone. Parking is extra, a parking scratch card is not included (Which was included by other previous cottage rentals) We had a lovely stay despite the dreadful weather. Whitby town centre, beach with pier, local restaurants and individual shops were all great
Wonderful. Just wonderful. Positive: Absolutely gorgeous property. Close to everything we wanted to go to. The weather was a little chilly so we put the radiators on and it was soon cosy and warm. The decor is beautiful and we loved the colour scheme too. We couldn’t believe how nice it all was. The water pressure was excellent in the shower. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean. Negative: If I had to say anything it’s that the cottage is located on a steep incline that is cobblestoned. However there is a handrail and my 84 year old mother who uses a stick, was able to manage it better than I thought she would.
The cottage was even better than we expected and really cosy! The location is perfect providing that you don’t have any mobility issues due to to the steep path the cottage is located on; literally less than a minute walk down to the centre yet it is still fairly private and quiet. It was straightforward finding the cottage and there was ample parking on Cliff St car park at all times which is roughly 300 yards away (you’ll be lucky to get much closer than this wherever you stay in Whitby!). There was a parking permit provided and left in the cottage but didn’t get chance to look around for the applicable parking zones but this is ideal if you’re on a budget as it will save roughly £10 per day. Thank you for a fantastic stay, we will definitely be returning!
Fantastic location, clean and full stocked with everything we needed Positive: Fantastic location, clean and full stocked with everything we needed.
Lovely, cosy and clean place. The dog’s blankets were a nice touch. We hope to return next year.
Very impressed with how modern , immaculate and great WiFi signal..
Comfortable and everything we needed Positive: It had absolutely everything we needed for a short stay with our dogs, it was super cosy and only a minutes walk to all of the shops and beach. It’s in a perfect location. We would absolutely stay here again. Negative: Nothing!
Positive: Lovely little cottage with everything we needed Negative: Its up a very steep alley which my father struggled with. But I would use again if I didn't have my parents with me. Good location apart from that, not good for people with any mobility issues
A great location just a few steps away from anything you need. However the property is run by an agency so expect charges for everything extra including early check in/out. Bathroom wasn’t very clean, only one toilet roll supplied, and a noticeable smell of dog made us feel like it could have generally been a bit cleaner. Modern throughout though and perfect for a short stay.
Fantastic stay by the sea in a wonderful property Positive: Excellent size with all required amenities Negative: Up a very steep hill
Great location for exploring Whitby. Comfortable, clean and ideal for our short break.
Wonderful cottage, comfortable and perfectly located Positive: The entire cottage was well presented had everything we could possibly need. We stayed two night and slept peacefully each night. All beds were comfortable and every room was clean. We used the kitchen to cook and again everything we needed was available. Perfect location right in the middle of everywhere we wanted to visit. Thankyou to the owners.
Stunning cottage with extremely poor cleanliness Positive: Location is perfect,Cottage looks fantastic Negative: Smell of damp upstairs and dog urine smell on 1 of the sofas. Kettle and heating not working in the cottage
Beautiful cottage in the heart of Whitby Positive: Excellent fixtures and fittings great location . Negative: Nothing to dislike would recommend mattress toppers and higher quality pillows , we also only had one toilet roll no kitchen roll for a three night stay , welcome pack would be an added bonus
Positive: Excellent location, very clean, well equipped. Negative: Nothing
Nice clean Cozy place!
Had a great stay and would definitely stay again. Positive: The property was in a great spot very clean had everything you needed. Negative: Nothing
Great location everything there that’s needed would highly recommend
Disgusting Negative: We were extremely disappointed with the condition of the cottage on arrival. It was clear that it had not been cleaned properly before check-in. We found food residue left in the kitchen sink, hair in the shower drain, crushed crisps in the sofa, sand across the floors, food debris inside the toaster, and dust throughout the property. We reported the issues immediately and provided photographic evidence. Unfortunately, due to the 4:00 pm check-in time and not receiving a response until later that evening, we had no realistic option but to clean the worst-affected areas ourselves so that the cottage was suitable to stay in. This meant spending part of the first evening of our holiday cleaning instead of relaxing. While the host apologised and offered a re-clean, this was no longer practical as we had already cleaned the property ourselves. They have since offered a 10% discount on a future stay but have refused to provide a partial refund for this booking because of course we will never stay with them again. At the time of writing, I am still waiting for a fair resolution through Booking.com and the cottage. The cottage itself has potential, but the standard of cleanliness on arrival was unacceptable and significantly impacted the start of our stay.
Weather excellent cottage in a good position for walking down to beach. Positive: Convenience Negative: Not too easy to find. Parking a nightmare
Don't bother. Positive: The cottage was in a lovely position, however is on quite a steep hill which is cobbled if you have any mobility issues. Negative: The cottage was unclean, to the point of if I wasnt only there for 4 days I would have moved. The bathroom was filthy and stunk of urine, it was caked around the rim of the toilet. There was dirt under the edge of the rug in the room that hadn't been cleaned for months. The heating in the living room didnt work. It's open plan so we were freezing as it was easter and cold.
Positive: Everything except the bank upto the cottage
Definitely would stay again Positive: Great central location and very well presented and good furnishings Negative: Nothing
Really nice cottage but clearer instructions to get to Positive: Clean and modern Negative: Not on pier road as stated but up pier lane so property was not easy to find and not easy to access for people with walking issues
Positive: Clean comfortable and great location! Negative: Parking is the only issue
the good customer reviews were well deserved. Accomodation was clean, neat and tidy.
Bank holiday, double booked, left in lurch for 4 hours Positive: I didn't get to see the property Negative: I didn't get to see the property
Good location to explore the delights that Whitby has to offer Positive: Good quality fixtures and fittings Negative: The heating controls
Excellent short stay. Positive: Location
Perfect cottage for 2 to 4 people wanting a quiet location right in the centre of Whitby. Positive: Excellent location and a very clean modern cottage. The kitchen open plan layout is great and the bathroom/shower were excellent too. Negative: No heating was on when we arrived so it took several hours to warm up all the rooms. Using "Alexa" to activate each room's heating was not possible as all radiators were "off" so we had to manually set the temperature. I would recommend updating the heating information should future guests experience the same challenge.
Positive: The cottage was awesome. Brilliant location. Very tastefully decorated & attention to detail. Negative: As we are elderly we tend to explore through the day & get back for tea time & to relax with TV. It was disappointing not to be able to watch Normal tv channels.
Cute little cottage in the heart of Whitby Positive: Cosy, small but perfectly formed and quality furnishings
Positive: Amazing location and a very cute, well maintained cottage. Negative: Small struggle with heating initially but resolved easily.
Overall great, just one or two little touches would of improved it. Positive: Great location though access for the less able could be tricky. Clean, tidy, comfortable. Negative: Alexa controlled heating is a faff, if it works at all. I can manage to turn a thermostat up or down as required. A small availability of tea, coffee, sugar, milk etc would of been a nice touch as most places do this but not here.
Lovely little cottage close to Whitby centre Positive: Location excellent Lovely layout in the cottage Bathroom great, fantastic shower Well equipped kitchen Lovely large dining table Regular updates received Negative: Cotrage was not ready for check in time, very inconvenient Single beds uncomfortable Kitchen radiator did not work meaning downstairs was very cold in the evening Cream carpets so show previous stains
Great accommodation, very close to the front and to everything you’ll need but very very quiet which was a nice suprise! Would recommend.
Lovely clean house great location Positive: Great location Negative: The strap hill to get to property
Positive: Great location. Nice and clean. Well furnished.
Our second time staying at the cottage, amazing location, lovely place, can’t wait to go back! Thank you x
Positive: Very central
Positive: Location excellent although on a short but steep hill. Well furnished beds comfortable. Negative: Need mattress protection- great beds why not try keep them in good condition?
Lovely cottage in the most perfect location! Straight into the town and all the attractions. Absolutely loved our stay. A really beautiful place. We will be back to stay again for sure!
Positive: Excellent location and a lovely clean cottage. Everything you would need. Beds were very comfortable
Great weekend Positive: Great location, very comfortable, will definitely be booking again Negative: Did turn chilly in the evening and the heating would turn on
Positive: The decor and finish of this cottage is outstanding, this is our second stay here and we love it, cannot wait to return later in the year or next year Negative: Nothing comes to mind
Positive: The cottage was clean and pleasant to be in and had all the amenities you could need. The location was excellent and made travelling around Whitby very easy.
As above Positive: Modern neat tidy good facilities Negative: Poor communication, late check ins ridiculous 3/4of a day. No response to email about parking. Better communication required
This is a review of two halves. Lovely little cottage in a great location but it now looks a bit tired and the smell is Positive: The property is in a great location close to the amenities in the heart of Whitby. The cottage Is well equipped and the beds and linen provided is lovely. The property has been renovated to a high standard although there are things that let it down. Negative: The carpet in the lounge is dirty There is a smell when you walk up the stairs as well as in the bathroom
The property appeared clean and generally well maintained in the centre of Whitby. Finding parking to unload can be a little challenging. Access is up quite a steep pedestrian access but we loved the place/ location.
Amazing Positive: The location was excellent. Cottage so comfortable And pretty. Well equipped, home from home! Beds super comfy. Furniture super comfy! Dining area great. Loved the whole place and experience. Negative: The fact we couldnt stay longer 😩
Positive: The cottage was really lovely and very clean . Very comfy beds and well equipped with everything you need
It would have been brilliant if it was warmer Positive: Brilliant but no heating worked on an app thing Alexa was no help and I noticed that the doors upstairs were upside down we are all over 70 and can’t understand an app Negative: No heating
Lovely, comfy, modern house - shame about a smell in the home. Positive: Good location and nicely decorated throughout to a good standard Negative: There was a smell of sewage in the house, especially when going up stairs the stainless steel was streaked on cleaning
Positive: Location not too bad Negative: No toilet paper and also no parking permit so had to park over the other side of shitby
Great base for exploring Whitby town. Positive: Nice modern cottage, great base for exploring Whitby. Situated in the town itself its very handy for shops, take aways & pubs. Negative: The property could have been cleaned better. The cottage was up a snicket on a steep incline.
Perfect location. Beautiful cottage. Positive: The location is perfect. It's just a minute up an alleyway, and you're in the centre. The cottage is very clean and comfortable. It has such a lovely feel to it and was very cosy and relaxing. The host left us coffee pods, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, hand wash, shampoo, and conditioner. Negative: The only thing I would mention to people with mobility issues is that the alleyway the cottage is on is steep and cobbled.
Definitely returning. Positive: Location and how adorable it is Negative: No tvs in the bedroom. A small one would have been good.
Excellent Positive: Everything
Lovely stay in cosy well maintained cottage Positive: Lovely cottage great location. The only con I can think of is that it’s a little dark, but that would be being picky . Negative: Very clean, comfortable and furnishing of a very good standard.
A very nice cottage ( when warm ) Positive: Cottage and rooms great. Negative: Don't think The cottage is set up for cold weather or there is a better way to go about warming. two night stay 3 hr trip turn into four. arrive at 8pm drop the bags . 1st thing food .. had food back to the cottage ( a cold cottage) once we had worked out the radiators (electric) sat with our coats on waiting for the rooms to warm. In the end we said we call it a night only to jump into a cold bed . We can see the point of saving energy but if the properties are empty for a few days and the weather turns cold ? Also carrys on to the next day cottage now warm jump into the shower ( bad mistake) water freezing cold so four people having a very cold shower in the morning. If you rent the property for two nights you dont want to be reading how to set the heating and showers for half the day . 2nd. day very cozy cottage but dont forget to turn the the heating down to freeze the next occupants seems other guests have mentioned the radiators ??
Wonderful break. Positive: The cottage was perfect. Great facilities, clean and home from home.
Great location & we would definately be coming back :-) Positive: The cotteage was super warm on our arrival. Very spacious and plenty of room to relax in the evenings. Kitchen facilities were great & had everything you needed. Shower was great & beds & couches super comfy. Negative: We did not have any need to be disapointed in this cottage.
Nice cottage but don’t book through Host & Stay management company. Poor customer service Positive: Location was great for exploring Whitby. Modern decor Negative: Level of cleanliness was very very poor. Not vacuumed throughout property, crumbs over kitchen chairs, dirty glass on bedside cabinet, cheese left on cheese grater in the kitchen cupboard! I have contacted the management company to complain but am yet to get a satisfactory response. They just keep making excuses as to why the have not responded.
Beautiful little cottage very well located. Didnt have hot water on day 1 but quickly resolved. Heating remained a mystery but we didnt really need it as was mild. Could have been a bit more thoroughly cleaned. But would probably go again overall as spot is so well located and v cute. Thanks for a good stay!
A PLUMBERS VIEW Positive: Well set out, plenty of room, kitchen facilities all there even tea / coffee milk etc.bathroom was nice, good strong powerful shower with shower gel and hand soup provided, nice clean towels. Negative: Well being a plumber and general handy man I spot things, first kitchen tap handles need tightning up and becoming stiff so on there way out,I would say new tap choose a different style with handles at each side easier to use. Some kitchen doors need adjusting to shut properly, you need to leave better instructions on how to turn the electric heaters on says wi fi but we managed to get them on just by pure chance, and the hot water needs instructions as well in a written book form.Bedside light in the small bedroom, the locking nut is missing to hold shade down properly, loose!.Front door catches slightly, double bed door fire strip coming out doesn't shut itself without a push. All could be fixed free by me in exchange for free accommodation 😄😄ha ha..As for location for a fit average person who can climb hills no problem, but an elderly or the or slightly unfit person i would say not for them, as its a very steep cobbled path to the front door.
Perfect size for 4 people and in a great location right in the centre of Whitby.
Positive: Fantastic cottage in a great location.Fixtures amd fitting exceptional.Done to a very high standard,we didn't want to come home. Negative: Nothing to dislike here.Could not fault this cottage it's beautiful
Fantastic stay would definitely return Positive: Location Style Negative: Large bins at the end of the alley
Fabulous Positive: It was clean everything was like new and they had everything in the cottage that was needed for an enjoyable holiday Negative: The steep path going to the cottage
Centrally located, clean and comfortable apartment.
Lovely little property in great location except on a very steep slope with no parking nearby and no garden or yard. Definitely not dog friendly. Host & Stay are an absolutely appalling company who do not care about their customers at all. They were happy to claim there was free on site parking prior to my booking (I even posed the question directly as it seemed impossible to me) and then when I found out this was actually completely false they provided no assistance or advice or support or compensation or anything. I called their office and were just told "oh sorry"; no one ever called me back. They ignored my first request for the complaints form and after I did get one and sent it in I have no response at all. After you pay for your booking they will also then demand an extra damage waiver fee and provide a whole load more rules like dogs are not allowed upstairs yet there is no gate fitted to stop them. I also discovered an Amazon Echo Dot secretly plugged in under a cupboard.
A very cold weekend. Positive: The cottage was a decent size and decorated to a good standard. Negative: There was no heating during a very cold and wet weekend in a property that obtains little to no natural light or heat. This was made worse by having to stay in the property for much of Sunday because of the weather outside. This one factor meant that the other qualities of the property could not make up for this. This problem was not rectified during my stay because Host and Stay do not operate on weekend so there was no way to solve the problem and I had to just put up with being very cold.
Nice decor but really bad smell downstairs meant we couldn’t use the living area, struggled to sleep Saturday night due Positive: Nice interior Negative: The smell
Fantastic. Would highly recommend both the host and the premises
It was superb
