Positive: Kitchen appliances good though shortage of crockery and cutlery meant dishwasher not used Negative: No separate bedroom, just a 5 foot screen, no wardrobe, no drawers, no bedside table, wife has cancer, nowhere for tablets or drink by bed, cramped so difficult to get out of bed at night. Parking very difficult. Nearest car park open after 8pm 10 mins away. Roadside parking only for Scarborough disc holders and 2 hr limit. Carpet dirty and badly stained. No outlook from window. No window that would open.

Positive: Loved the location and the size of the space. Perfect for 2! And a real comfortable space to spend a few days away, nice little home from home. Negative: There were some carpet stains, marks on the walls and some of the furniture was a bit worn. Needs a little TLC but nothing major just a little spruce will do.

Positive: the design was great, really nice looking, great view of the cricket ground, really comfortable beds, outdoor seating area for two Negative: other than looking nice there were cig and iron burns in the carpet, the mirror fell over as it was just lent against a pole it was meant to be attatched to, there were oil makes all up the wall at the back of the cooker as there was no back splash, the oven was really hard to work as well so could only really cook using the hob,

The view of the cricket ground from this place is just staggering. The studio design made for easy access and a great living space for a few nights for just the two of us. A couple of niggles for the price; huge patches of damp in the entrance where plaster is crumbling from the wall, VERY smelly drains in the bathroom and a broken toilet seat on arrival which made us anxious given the hefty damages deposit that is taken before arrival (this has put me off using Host Stay again if I’m honest). Other than that, this didn’t both us too much as the location, living space and the view as cricket fans was just brilliant.

nice and cozy, very lovely on the surface, but not worth the price I paid Positive: nice cozy place, perfect location. towels and bedding were lovely and soft. Negative: only one fork between two of us, dust everywhere, bathroom window didn’t have a blind and it was right next to the shower - neighbours could see us so we felt super exposed and uncomfortable. Outside balcony was cute, but chairs covered in dirt - not cleaned for a while, and cigarette butts everywhere.

Positive: Great location, close to pubs and shops....views over cricket ground! Negative: No storage for clothes especially as we were there for 4 weeks. Heater in bathroom did not work. Shower needs a better head...very slow delivery of water stream. Shower needs a door as water went all over the bathroom. Wifi internet did not connect at all after many attempts

First but most likely last time in a holiday apartment. Positive: The apartment was very nice. Negative: Some cooking equipment wasn't clean. The shower had a button you needed to turn on in the main room but it wasn't labelled so took a while to find. Upstairs were noisy and rang my apartment phone numerous times at night on the Monday. They also left the front door open. As a solo traveller I was worried about security and they made me feel unsafe. Barricaded my door with a chair.

Enjoyable, but some disappointments. Positive: The kitchen was well arranged, with lots of useful appliances and the lounge area was comfortable. Negative: The bed wasn’t as big as advertised, and certainly not comfortable. Additionally - the internet was poor / intermittent. Not ideal for a bit of work I needed to do. When we first arrived the cables had been ripped out of the router. Parking was expensive too.

Really enjoyable stay, great area with lots of great restaurants and the beach is right around the corner. Beautiful accommodation and area. Thank you.

Enjoyed my stay and location of property. Positive: It was well situated for a steady walk into town and a five minute walk down to north bay. Liked that it was open plan. Negative: It looked a little tired when compared with photos- iron burn on carpet, a couple of chunks out of wall. Wi- fi not working.

Lovely little hideaway, had all the amenities inside, well equipped kitchen. Great for cricket lovers, ground floor apartment. Extremely quiet and felt like we were the only guests in the building. Parking in this particular area is a slight pain, there are car parks fairly close, but are not cheap. We made full use of the park and ride as worked out so much cheaper, left our car there for the four days. Charlie of Host and Stay was extremely helpful and replied very prompt. Would certainly stay here again

Pretty interior to the flat. Easy to get in and out. Very comfortable bed with soft pillows which was fantastic and helped with sleep. Great view over the wall for cricket! Room a bit of a trip hazard in dark haha A little noisy from upstairs throughout the night. NO CURTAINS only blinds - this was an issue for us as there were 5 windows, blinds on two windows didn't block out the light at all, so once the sun was up - it was full daylight in the room. I found this annoying as you book accommodation to sleep and often rate on the ability to sleep well, so couldn't give this place a 5/5. If they fixed the blinds I would have rated better. Not the cleanest - dirt around both taps which I cleaned myself on leaving, cobwebs in the bathroom, dirt down bathroom walls and hair on the wall, toilet was heavily stained. Dust throughout full apartment, on fake plants especially. Manky outside table. Iron burnt carpets. So need a closer attention to detail on cleaning and maybe 2 new blinds.

Superb stay in my favourite apartment. Positive: It was all so easy. I've stayed in this building previously and this stay was just as good. Excellent stay and will be back! Negative: I can't think of anything.

Nice place, backs out onto the cricket pitch so you can watch from the comfort of your own balcony. This does however mean there is some noise at times (including mornings) when it's in use, so something to be aware of. Good TV, comfy bed. Clean for the most part but there were quite a few cobwebs and a couple of stains on the walls. Also quite sparse with amenities; no hand soap or laundry detergent was provided. Overall, a pleasant stay.

Good property bad very dirty. Positive: Apartment was very nice and in a good location. Plus easy to check in and useful information on web site Negative: The Apartment was very DIRTY. Cobwebs every where with dust on them. Wrote clean me on shelf beside bed. Carpets needed good hover.. Bathroom needed a very very good clean. Toilet cysteine all brow below water level. Smear marks on Microwave and T.V Decking outside needed cleaning.. And to have paid £50 for cleaning on top of price was a bitter pill to swallow. Was told it was an oversight, I don't think so . I was talking to people in Apartment next to us and they said they had complained about the cleaning in Their apartment on first day.. Thought at least they might of given us something back for lack of cleaning. Sorry one other thing there is two small trees growing between two extensions one of which we were in and it happened to be a bit windy so the trees were rubbing against the the cutters and roof which kept us awake half the night. Poor maintenance IAM afraid It would appear know one is check on who is cleaning extra..

Great Location Positive: Location great for concert at Open Air Theatre. View of cricket ground from little balcony was bonus Comfy bed and sofa, large TV with Netflix, Smart well equipped kitchen. Overall smart, clean appearance. Very quiet and peaceful (Apart from Seagulls!😂) Negative: Shower, couldn't regulate temperature. Also because bathroom was wet room made it messy and slippy with not enough mats or towels to soak up water on floor. No drawers or shelves to store clothes/toiletries. No dressing table or anywhere to put stuff when getting ready and plug point too far away from mirror. Blinds at window wouldn't open or pull up so always a bit dark during day. Just a few small details that would make a good rating into an excellent one.

Great little apartment, great location especially if you are a cricket fan, on street parking available but only 2-3 hours during the day. All you need to be self catering. Only minor gripe was the shower didn’t maintain temperature but on reporting it they are to get to get their maintenance folks on it. Clean but not spotless - some cobwebs etc.

Comfortable stay. Positive: Very attractive flat. Bright, airy, modern and spacious. Comfortable bed. Ideal view if you're a cricket fan - it overlooked the pitch! Well fitted out. Good location - it was quiet at night. Negative: Instructions for the hob needed. Wifi didn't work (message when I tried to load said Bowlers Retreat had no internet). The housekeeping team hadn't been when we arrived (OK we were 20mins earlier than expected and they arrived 10 mins later after a call to Host and Stay.) Dust on artificial houseplants. Very slippery floor in wet room once wet.

Nice place to stay and within walking distance of everything that Scarborough has to offer.

Perfect location for a cricket fan; clean interior but dirty balcony. Furnishings would be greatly improved by bedside tables, a clothes storage cupboard (perhaps instead of broken unit under TV?) and nightlight. Comfortable bed.

Negative: Parking not available,needed to park on double yellow lines to off load then park away from property. If you can find a space on road it is free between 6pm--9pm only then permit is needed . Balcony needs tidying up. Some damage to carpet and furniture noted..

The place was clean and tidy,had everything i needed for my stay.5 minute walk to the beach and shops and eating spots.And if cricket is your thing sit outside overlooking the Cricket ground.will visit again.👍🏻

Scarborough is a great town, with really friendly people and fantastic scenery along the coast (as well as being one of the few places on the British coastline where you can regularly see dolphins). This apartment is located just over the road from the cliffs that overlook North Beach. You couldn't want a better location.

Wonderful little getaway

Positive: We backed on to the Cricket Ground and it was a short walk to North Bay .Scarborough is a wonderful historic town . Negative: The right hand door didn't open properly. Hob instructions would have been useful. Otherwise all good.

The Bowlers Retreat is a smart, clean, comfortable and spacious studio flat with great views over the cricket ground; perfect for a weekend but let down a little by an apparent lack of maintenance. We enjoyed our stay there but there were a number of things that weren't right such as lights which didn't work properly. The young trees commented on by others staying, are growing too close to the side of the building at the back. Their branches scrape on the flat roof and guttering of the property during windy or stormy weather, making a lot of noise. The kitchen facilities are good but barely anything besides washing up liquid is provided for washing up by hand. The bathroom all worked fine including the shower, except for the heated towel rail which didn't seem to get warm. You can park across the road during evenings or overnight, otherwise there are a couple of NCP car parks 5 mins walk away, around the corner offering 24hr parking at a favourable rate.

We stayed at this apartment hosted by Host & Stay from the 28th of August to the 2nd of September, and it was a really lovely experience. The location was perfect—just a short walk to local shops, which made everything super convenient. Despite being close to amenities, the apartment was very quiet, making it a peaceful place to relax after a day out. Everything was clean and well-maintained, and check-in was straightforward through Airbnb. We had no issues during our stay, and the overall atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, well-located spot in Scarborough!

If you love cricket this is the place for you, great little flat, quite location. But most of all a cricket club out your back door

Lovely time away Positive: The Apartment is lovely and has everything you need. Perfect location. Would definitely stay again. Plenty of car parking. We used the NCP queens parade for £6.50 for 24 hours. Never struggled to get a space. Negative: It was warm in the apartment and could do with a fan. The shower is a bit of a nightmare as there is nothing to stop the water from going everywhere and it makes the bathroom super slippy.

The studio was cleaned to a good standard but the walls and floors had stains on them Including a large iron mark . It was well used . The wetroom was a bad design and once we had showered you had to paddle to the toilet and sink for the rest of the stay . Studio good location but had to park elsewhere.

My 10 year old son and I had the perfect weekend. Apartment was fine for our needa. Outside space to sit and look over the cricket field was an added bonus. Everything was in good working order and the bed was comfortable. The space is small but it’s absolutely ideal for 2 people and feels more spacious and bespoke than a hotel room. Would love to stay again and recommend it. The location was good. Best car park is castle road, about 8 mins walk and cheap.

The pictures are very similar to the room. However, there were a few minor scuffs.

Very enjoyable and comfortable in a convenient location. Positive: Location perfect. Negative: The bathroom could have had a shelf or two to place bathroom products and shaving items. The carpet looks tired and rucked up in places. Previous visitors the week before our stay had pointed out a couple of faulty items which had been rectified for our stay… thank you for attending to those.

Positive: Property is in a good location on the north side , easy access to the areas we like to go to. Negative: Booked this , and a week later , I received a £25 damage cover fee, it did say this is required if booked prior to the 18th as I booked on the 21st I asked this question, they responded back with , No I don’t need to pay as I’ve booked after the date , that’s a lie because they won’t give you the key code until it’s paid . On arrival with still no key code , I rang them to ask for entry , I had to pay the damage fee, I said you said by email this isn’t required? Well it needs paying she said , I was put on hold for 10mins with no answer until paid Then they sent me a message saying sorry it was a mistake and it did need paying . £50 cleaning fee, The apartment is nicely laid out, but it’s covered in dust and cobwebs and dirt , not sure why it’s £50 when it’s not been cleaned , staff are not very helpful and a little rude Big damp stain on the wall as soon as you enter , and also an iron burn mark on the carpet, dust on all the shelves and lights , cobwebs on the ceiling an ld under the bed frame Would be nice with some old put back into the place

Overall good but could be so much better if the above things are sorted out . Positive: I liked the location ,and the overall open space planning of the apartment .kitchen and bathroom were great and overall it was very comfy place to stay Negative: There was a damp patch immediately as you walked through the apartment door ,also the carpet was a tad grubby near the kitchen area and also had a big iron mark burnt in .The front balcony looked like it had not been cleaned for ages ,with cigarette ends ,tea bags and lots of weeds growing through the decking .Also on lifting the side door blind ,that also had rubbish on it and lots of weeds growing ,although you wouldn’t go out of this door it still was very of putting .Storage for clothes was a small rail with 6 hangers and there were no drawer space . We only went for three nights but we couldn’t fit all our clothes in the storage available .

Could be perfect! Positive: The location is excellent near the North Bay and the Open air theatre. This place could be perfect if it had been kept up to scratch. The apartment on first look is lovely, very modern and new. Negative: We stayed here last October and it was perfect and very clean. This time, the overall cleanliness was definitely not up to scratch. The bathroom, the kitchen area, wasn't cleaned properly. It was fairly dusty. The mirror had been broken off the stand and been left underneath the sofa so there was no full length mirror to use. The small terrace would be ideal over looking the cricket ground if it was clean. The carpet had really bad blk stains all over it. It is such a shame people have not looked after this property as it was lovely last time but also the cleaners could definitely do better

Slightly dissappinting Positive: Tastefully decorated, facilities were good and the little outdoor decked terrace overlooking the cricket ground was an unexpected bonus. Negative: The whole apartment needs a lick of paint, it was very dusty and it wasn't cleaned to my standard, there is mould in the wetroom and I know cleaners have a short window in which to clean but there was debris around the edges of the carpet which really should not have been overlooked and the windows and upvc was filthy.There was considerable damage to walls and paintwork which makes it look tatty. That being said, the bed linen was clean and the overall feel of the apartment was nice and we had a lovely time.

Maintenence and cleanliness was not great. Broken door on to patio, reported on first day but not mended. Cigarette butt's and rubbish on patio. Big damp patch in property, hole in wall next to bed. Loose towel rail and shower head holder. Marks and scuffs all over the walls. No where to put clothes apart from tiny rail with 5 coat hangers so lived out of suitcase. Such a shame as could be a great place but needs a different cleaner and some maintenance.

Such a relaxing break in a beautiful apartment by the sea. Positive: This property is fabulous and we would love to return. The studio apartment was spacious, stylish and comfortable. We loved the fact we could watch the cricket from the balcony. It was an easy walk to the beaches and to town too. Negative: Nothing!

Good location but the cleanliness of the room let the apartment down & I would not recommend or return unfortunately Positive: Over looking the cricket ground whilst sitting on the small balcony. Negative: The Bathroom was not clean. Toilet bowel was dirty bad staining & smell. Some surfaces were not clean. The sofa had lots of crumbs & debris between the cushions. Big stains on the rug.

Positive: Close to Scarabourgh Open Air Thearte & The North Bay Beach . Negative: No drawers for your clothes ,also not much hanging space .No where to store your bathroom items on shelves or in a cupboard. Having to pay for car parking. Bad Damp on the wall in the entrance to the flat .

Nice stay, didn't realise about the extra payments on top of our booking quote. Positive: The property was close to all the amenities at the north bay side of Scarborough and the cricket ground is just behind. The property was well furnished and had good self catering facilities. Negative: The bathroom was a wet room, the whole floor got wet when using the shower so tge sink and toilet area were soaked. The bed could have been a bit bigger, the screen and metal shelves on the wall were unnecessary, just in the way. The front of the property needs a tidy and sweep, first impressions count.

Not good Positive: 10 minute walk to the front Negative: I booked on booking.com, never known anything like it! On the day I was waiting to get into the property at 4.30pm, rang the host to be told I needed to pay a £250 damage deposit before I could be given the keys! (Never had that on booking.com before) I wasn't happy about this because we are reliable, clean and sensible and let's be honest, it's a small room in Scarbourough! Hardly the Ritz lol. We paid £177 for 2 nights, about average I would say in the area (actually, on the higher side on that street to be fair) I paid the damage deposit on my credit card bit was nattering then because on entering there was damage to the room which I was anxious may be blamed on us. I took photos which I will attach to review if I can, in a nutshell - damp in the entrance, hole in the wall, wear and tear damage to the walls and shower etc. It's a cream carpet so obviously it was marked, it was also lifted near the shower room. Sent the pics straight through and was responded to stating they would review the damage after the stay and decide whether to keep the deposit.......how antagonising and frustrating!!! Ruined my weekend to be honest! Fast forward to the deposit being refunded...checked my account to see only £240 had been sent back, contacted them and explained and asked for the missing £10 to be refunded ASAP. I will attach the reply if I can which was that it is an admistration charge! ....what in the name of Scarborough is going on here?! As someone who is well travelled, I have been all over the world in some of the best hotels, I have NEVER been charged a £250 deposit (unless it has been a group) and a £10 admin charge. Good old Charles (I think that's his name- the owner) send me some condescending message stating that it's in the small print that they keep a £10 admin fee. Moral of the story - book in somewhere nicer for the same price without all the nonsense of the £250 deposit and 'small print' admin fee.

Okay Negative: Took a long time to heat up. Very noisy

Very happy with the quality and cleanliness. H&S admin failings let it down. Positive: PRO'S On arrival I retrieved the keys from the key safe outside the front door and entered. Bowler’s retreat is on the ground floor (despite all the negative feedback, reporting there are a lot of stairs, there are not. First impressions do matter and this apartment gives a very good one. It is roomy, very clean and tidy, the overall décor is done to a high standard. The main room consists of the living area, bed space and kitchen area. Main Room: There is one working electric wall heater which adequately keeps the room at a good temperature, we set it to 22 degrees and never had to adjust it at all. the second heater under the window appears to be not working at all. All the furniture is also in good clean condition and the double bed and the couch were comfy enough for us. There is a large flat screen smart TV connected to the broadband. The broadband is not great, it fluctuated between 3mbps and 12mbps, OK, for your phone or laptop email etc, but not always good enough to stream TV & movies, without long buffering breaks. This room also has a balcony with a great private view over the Scarborough Cricket ground if you were planning to stay during the cricket season. One more excellent addition is that there are plenty of plug sockets to handle all your devices you need. Kitchen Area: Again, this is laid out to a high standard and is well equipped with a full-size Cooker & Hob, Microwave, Toaster and Kettle. The is also a Washing Machine & Dishwasher, if you do use these appliances, you will need your own cleaning tablets or liquid. Adequate utensils, pots and pans. Shower Room: This is a very nice wet room type layout fully tiled with an Electric Shower, Toilet, Wash Basin and Radiator. As with the main room we left this on constant and were never chilly. Totally adequate for regular daily washing & showering. Entrance Hall: This is a nice surprise. Negative: CON’s: I paid the full price for the apartment on booking, Then 10 days before our arrival I received and email stating I need to click the company link and pay £250 for a refundable Damage Waiver. There is also a £10 admin charge, which is not refundable, when you do this. This was not stated or included in the advertised price on Booking.com. It says following their inspection after checkout if there are no issues the deposit will be refunded. One week after checkout I had to contact H&S to ask why I had not received my deposit back, I got an email the very next day with the refund info. H&S: If you are going to add addition charges like this, either add them to your rental charge, or at least state them separately at the point of booking, so we know how much we are paying for the apartment. While I know Scarborough very well, I was disappointed that H&S do not offer Scratch Card parking permits for road outside this property. Without a card you can only park for 2 hours with a time disc, which I had, but you will need to use the local carpark if you do not have one. Parking disks are available free from some shops & garages. The parking sign on the road states: Area G2, Mon – Sat 9am – 5pm & Sun 12 noon – 5pm 2 Hours. No Return Within 1 Hour. H&S: May I suggest, you have some free parking discs available in the lobby for all drivers, and also offer scratch cards which can be charged for at booking and left in each apartment for the duration of each visit. We have stayed in two other apartments on this road, and they both do this for their guests. There is a large shrub outside the Shower room, which because of the heavy wind during our stay kept banging very loudly on the window, all night. H&S: May I suggest, this be pruned or removed The broadband is quite slow and not really sufficient to stream TV H&S: May I suggest an upgrade. Overall Summary: 7 out of 10 Very happy with the quality and cleanliness.

Lovely apartment, good location, would definitely stay again. Only issue was oven didn’t work until last full day which meant we had to eat out most of the holiday. Communication was good but took a few days to resolve problem.

Everything was great. Positive: Loved the theme and layout, comfy and well presented. Negative: The wood structure that divides the bed from the rest of the living space. Would be better if there was netting there instead of that wood so can be open and closed. Would be able to watch tv while in bed. Also bed could be bigger.

It was a very nice stay. The flat looked exactly like in the photos and was very clean. Parking was not available on site but a very easy 6 mins walk away. All in all it was a very pleasant stay and I’d gladly come again.

Information relating to check in, property facitlities, check out and 'local things to do' was useful and easy to read. Property itself was clean and tidy, with an amazing view over the cricket ground and close to all amenities but in a quiet area. If you want to go out to breakfast at the North Bay beach, a quick 7 minutes walk down the cliff path via the pedestrian cut through aloingside no. 105, go to the Watermak or (££) the Oasis (£) cafes. Perfect stay! Negative: The hosts need to consider adding a backsplash to the back of the hob area as previous guests have obvioulsy been cooking and there are grease splash stains on the wall.

Would recommend and would definitely stay again. Positive: Great location for our trip to the open air arena. Flat has been renovated to a good standard with quality fittings and furniture. Well equipt kitchen area and lovely comfy bed. Negative: Flat could do with some upkeep:- Shower pole not secure to wall. Carpets could do with a clean. Back door step is loose. Kitchen drain smells terrible (bleach handily provided). Marks on walls could be cleaned off.

Lovely apartment with modern decor and great location Positive: lovely decor, plenty of kitchen utensils and very comfy! Negative: the bathroom could’ve been cleaner, was a few hairs on the floor and around the shower but didn’t bother us too much.
