A beautiful little cosy cottage surrounded by lovely walks and mountain goats
Lovely location and cottage. Positive: Lovely location for excellent walks from the door. Immaculately clean and cosy cottage, recently refurbished. Very helpful owners and neighbours. Despite the issue outlined below , it was dealt with well, which is the important thing. Negative: Unfortunately we didn't receive the final email from Booking.com host and stay with detailed directions, and key code. It is a very rural postcode which took us to a different very similar property! In fairness Host and stay did reply to my phonecall with a more detailed email, but in the dusk, slow phone connections we relied on neighbours to point us in the right direction, ultimately to the property owner who was most apologetic and helpful. Hopefully in future this won't happen again, but be aware it is a very rural location with similar properties in the same location. However it was a lovely stay, cottage in a wonderful location with a very kind and helpful owner and kind neighbours.
Charming cottage in accessible rural location. Positive: Well equipped charming cottage set in a group of similar buildings, this one had its own little garden around the corner. It was just like the photos, in a lovely quiet rural setting and yet is easy to drive to. It gave us the perfect base to unwind, walk the immediate area and explore further afield. Negative: Minor point - there is no convenience store nearby so a roll of foil, cooking oil and spare cleaning cloths would have been appreciated. Having said this, the property had everything that was listed- and more.
Lovely little cottage in a beautiful place surrounded by fantastic walks and close by to places like Bamburgh. Thank you!
Perfect weekend stay to enjoy the local scenery and walks
Stayed 2 nights at the cottage with my 2 dogs Lovely place and location and would happily have stayed another night but had to get home for work My only issue was the cottage was very cold and so I had the heating up higher than suggested in the cottage manual suggested Would definitely stay again
Gorgeous last minute trip! The cottage is basic, understandably very cold - we would’ve struggled without the fireplace - but no tray in the fire, we had to buy our own firewood and coal. But the neighbours lent us wood and coal without us even asking (thanks bob at number 6), and the owner that lives in the Manor House at the top of the road knocked on to offer us an electric blanket. \nWe loved this cosy cottage and had the best time in a stunning place, surrounded by lovely and helpful people. \nIt would be nice to see a few more things included e.g no salt and pepper, no condiments, firewood would’ve been a lovely touch. Maybe milk in the fridge as shops are a while away from cottage.\nThe garden is lovely and big, it’s a walk away and shared between all the cottages, with an allotment and greenhouse, I can’t wait to see it in the summertime. \nOverall, we loved our time making memories and will be back again. The dogs especially loved all of the national park walks.
Cosy and Idyllic Positive: Excellent location for walks with the dogs and people avoidance. Great facilities. Extremely cosy. I will reccommed to friends and may return in the future. Negative: It was a bit chilli when I arrived until the storage heaters kicked in. This is probably due to the property being empty before my arrival on Boxing Day. It soon warmed up.
Beautiful and quiet location just inside the national park boundary with walks straight into the hills. Positive: Beautiful location with walks into the Cheviots straight from the front door.
Beautiful quiet location with lots of wildlife, and easy access to lots of local history Positive: Clean, comfortable and well equipped. Easy to adjust heating to keep things comfortable
Gorgeous location, so quiet and close to many lovely walks. Shame the property is a bit tired. We arrived to a small kitchen flood caused by a defrosted fridge (the owner came straight away with an armful of towels to mop this up as there was no mop available). The carpet is a bit stained in places, the kitchen needs an overhaul and the shower seems to deposit water on the floor which might be the cause of a slight smell of damp. The radiator heater is very effective and the bed is very comfortable! Perhaps a hoover under the bed might be good. Value for money if nothing else! A couple of hand towels might be a good idea!
Lovely stay at Kirknewton! Positive: Lovely cosy cottage to get out into nature for a couple of days! It’s a beautiful setting surrounded by the hills and easy access to many walks nearby as well as stargazing if the clouds are on your side! The cottage was perfectly sized had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and we plan to come again soon! Negative: While the main traffic areas had clearly been cleaned very well (kitchen surfaces, floors, bathroom), other areas showed lack of care & cleanliness- mostly dust (especially some big pieces hanging off the walls), and a fair few spiders. The car parking space location is not clear or signposted (even though I was told it was). As the area was quiet it wasn’t really a problem but if it was a busier season I was worried I’d be told off for parking in the wrong place. If there was a photo of the parking space that would be very useful to future guests!
Bell Cottage is a charming cottage in a beautiful location and a great base for exploring Northumberland. The neighbours were lovely, and the peaceful setting made it easy to enjoy the surrounding area. Unfortunately, we were a rally disappointed with the condition of the property on arrival. There were several cleanliness issues that detracted from the experience, including stained carpets, a bathroom that did not appear to have been thoroughly cleaned, mould and pink residue on the shower curtains, and animal hair on both the mattress protector and the mattress. We were also concerned that the bedding may not have been freshly changed before our stay. It's a shame, as the cottage itself has plenty of character and the location is excellent. With more attention to cleaning and maintenance, this could be a really enjoyable place to stay. We hope these issues are addressed for future guests, as the property has a lot of potential.
A beautiful location with lovely walks straight out of the door. Very friendly neighbours. Perfect for exploring Northumberland.
Lovely cottage in a beautiful location
Lovely cottage Positive: Out in the sticks. Peace and quiet Negative: Nothing to dislike
Absolutely loved the place, its compact but all you need. Neighbours were lovely and an inclosed garden great for the dog... Loved it, we'll be back
Negative: No complaints
Compact and adequate for a short stay Positive: The property was compact and well equipped, it was reasonably clean and there was lots of information about the local area and attractions. The bed was very comfortable and the surrounding area was very quiet. Negative: There wasn’t enough hot water to have a bath comfortably it ran out very quickly and the WiFi signal was very poor even using the house WiFi we weren’t able to search for local amenities without the signal dropping out.
We have stayed at Bell Cottage twice before ( prior to Host and Stay becoming agents)- it's been done up really nicely and the bed was super comfy! Love the area and caught up with the neighbours ( although sadly some had moved on and cottages were empty). Great for exploring Northumberland and for beautiful walks from your doorstep! We were fine but could see a time when the bath would be a challenge as so tall to climb into to shower! Also, the garden, although it has beautiful views, needs attention and a proper sitting out area. We had a lovely stay and wish it had been for longer!
Spent 5 nights here … very rural location, very close to National park and easy to get to everywhere we wanted to go . W Positive: Very sweet cottage in a great rural location Negative: Bath tub felt a little scary
Great base for exploring the beautiful Northumberland countryside and what an amazing view to wake up to every morning.
A fabulous cottage stay Positive: The cottage is very spacious & well equipped. Cool temperature inside, even on hot summer days. Easy parking. Comfy bed. Negative: n/a
Simply lovely. Positive: The birds viewed from the window every morning. Spectacular. Negative: No idea. Maybe the door to the kitchen gets in the way a lot.
Very clean Positive: The location Negative: It said it had a patio, but we couldn’t see it
The cottage is well laid out and comprehensively equipped. The bed is very comfortable. My only criticism is the directions for the parking made no sense. Even the neighbour opposite could not assist. Luckily the cottage next door is vacant so I parked there.
Most enjoyable. Very convenient location for accessing places of interest
Lovely place to stay
Wonderful stay in a very compact beautiful place Positive: Very compact little cottage, perfect for us for a few days getaway.. it has everything that is needed. Kitchen is well stocked. Great location. Very peaceful Negative: It took a while to find the property but we did arrive quite late and it was dark. I believe the intention is to put a sign up on the property with the name... This would certainly help.
We booked for 2 nights on a whim the evening before and it was the best couple of days we have had this year Positive: Ideally situated for where we wanted to be and the cottage was exactly what we wanted. It was clean and tidy and we were well informed by the owners about the property and surrounding area. Negative: The only slight negative was not having a back door but to be honest that really wasn’t a problem
Positive: Comfortable bed. Well equipped kitchen although a microwave would have been useful. Negative: Deceptive photos Beautiful soft furnishings but a settee that should have gone to the dump a long time ago. Badly designed accommodation. Could have made a better use of the square footage. One small radiator inadequate. Nowhere for food storage in the kitchen. Hopeless hanging space for clothes. Not a comfortable stay
Cute cottage in idyllic rural setting Positive: Lovely countryside setting, ideal for getting away from it all Negative: Nothing
Lovely cottage great location Negative: Parking difficult to find No sign saying Bell Cottage
Beautiful, homely cottage equipped with everything we needed. Comfortable bed, good shower. Will definitely return.
Lovely cottage with lovely neighbours. The garden is pretty, but not big and rather wild so not much good to sit in.
A perfect location and a lovely cottage, it was an ideal place to explore and rest Positive: Bell cottage had everything I needed for a lovely few days away. It was quiet and in a lovely village, and had a super comfy bed. Negative: Nothing. It was just perfect.
Great great place, beautiful location, wonderful house, very peaceful!!
