Positive: Location! Negative: After a day out in whitby we returned to the apartment to discover the main key to the building had been removed from the key safe , the out of hours service was ridiculous as it was someone abroad !!! Had to get another residents attention to let us into main building then my husband knocked on other residents doors to track down the key to return to main key safe . There should be someone more local for Emergencies!! Dred to think what we'd have done if was late at night as I say we had no joy from out of hours service, each apartment should have a key to the main door. Spoiled our Saturday night as missed our restaurant reservation Wouldn't stay at the accommodation again.

Positive: Beach view was one amazing apartment with an outstanding view. We felt like celebrities as people on the hop on/off bus stared in when passing 😅. The apt had everything we needed and were thankful for the coffee and milk as we forgot to bring. Whitby locals are so lovely and welcoming and the smell of 'Fish & Chips' is everywhere around the centre. We loved the apt so much we stayed in the first evening with drinks and 2 delivery takeaways. 2nd night we. Went down the steps to the famous Magpie Cafe. We queued 45 mins but, wow, it was so worth it...delicous Cod and Scampi, oh and the other half loved their battered sausage supper. What a lovely town and this apt is so good my sister said she wants to retire and move in there.

Nice enough place, terrible customer service Positive: Convenient location for the pavilion and easy to find. The beds are very soft. Pillows and linen were comfortable. Nice view from sitting room. Well equipped kitchen. Negative: Cleaning standards were ok, I had to wash some glasses and cutlery before using. Black mould in the shower and dirty floor in the shower room. Needs to provide mat for exiting shower so the floor doesn’t get so wet. I was most disappointed with the customer service. We asked if we could check in 1 hour early as my partner had an online meeting he had to attend. Most places have a 3pm check in, but here it’s 4pm. Sent a request but was told we’d have to pay £30! And given a very rude, sarcastic response. It was very unprofessional.

Positive: The apartment was just as described, clean, well appointed, with everything we needed for our stay. It is the best accommodation we have stayed in in Whitby, and we have been coming for many years. The location and sea views were fantastic, the beds were comfy, the lounge, kitchen , diner were very spacious despite there being 4 of us, the apartment was warm even though it was December. The showers were great with plenty of hot water, lovely bedding and towels, and plenty of kitchen crockery, glasses, cutlery etc. The huge TV was great with plenty of channels, and WiFi excellent. As we were 2 couples it was great to have 2 bathrooms, this apartment would definitely be my first choice for our next visit, we could not find fault with any of it. This apartment more than met our expectations. Negative: There was nothing we didn't like. This is a fantastic apartment and Host & Stay customer service were excellent.

Lovely home base to explore Whitby Positive: The en-suite was lovely and the flat was comfortable and well appointed and the views out the windows were spectacular. Negative: There was no floor towel in the en-suite so we ended up using a hand towel. In addition, the sofa lounger in the main bedroom was missing a leg and almost tipped over when my husband sat down. Finally, the blind pulls in the lounge were so high we had to climb up on the window sills to open and close them.

Beautiful place. Modern furniture and appliances. Views were stunning day and night. Only let down by the broken furnitu Positive: The location was absolutely perfect. Sea views and walking distance into the main part of town with so much going on. The kitchen was stunning with everything and more you needed. Large fridge, dishwasher, even coffee machine. The rooms were all clean and well decorated. Negative: We arrived at the property to find the sofa leg was broken off. We contacted the owner and was told to leave the key in the key safe in the main corridor so they could arrange for it to be repaired but this didnt happen so for the whole stay we didn’t have a sofa. Not ideal when you’ve been exploring all day and just wanted to relax in the evening with only 2 chairs to sit on as a family of 4. The carpet could do with a clean aswel as we have young children.

Brilliant stay, the host was full of information and guidance on how to check into the property. The property was everything we expected it to be. It felt very safe, secure and homely. We had a young child with us and it was great for them too, particularly enjoying that the bedrooms were downstairs ensuring a cool, peaceful nights sleep. Beautiful view and easily accessible to all the great activities that Whitby has to offer. Thank you for a great stay.

Despite the above, we did have a pleasant stay. Positive: Decent size, location, comfortable. Negative: No WiFi! Despite numerous requests, no solution was given. Lack of shelf space in bathrooms. Dirty marks on lounge room carpet. No on-site parking. Paid parking on the street, but I feel this should be have been mentioned at the time of booking.

The apartment is lovely and really well located. Beautiful views out the window. Everything is very modern and you have everything you need. The beds are comfy.

Positive: Location perfect for an event I was putting on in Whitby

Excellent, good location, lovely place, good beds and linen. Positive: Fantastic location, right on the seafront. parking was easy and nearby, accommodation was lovely. beds were comfortable and bed linen and towels were first class. Bathrooms were a good size. Negative: Wi-fi was a pain to set up ! There was some black damp on the wall in the corner of the smaller room. Living room carpet needs deep clean or replacing.

Mostly great but needs some attention. Positive: We loved the view towards the sea from the main room and the location was very convenient - just a short (and steep) walk into Whitby. The parking on street and in a nearby Leisure Centre was not cheap. I read later that rooms in the same house, run by the same company, were issued with parking permits but we were not offered any. Why not? The kitchen was very well appointed - lovely big fridge, lots of crockery, cutlery and glassware. Shower good, bed comfortable. Negative: See comment about parking, above. Also, to open and close the blinds it was necessary to stand on a chair which is rather dangerous at my age. It would take a couple of minutes to extend the cords! As some other reviewers have said, the carpet is stained. Has anyone actually tried to clean it?

Good location shocking apartment not been looked after disgusting wouldn’t recommend Positive: The location Negative: The dirty carpet and the place wasn’t cleaned and mould on walls . The apartment wasn’t cleaned for our arrival. it was disgusting and filthy.. my wife and mother in law had to clean the place up . Food waste all over the counters, dirty toilet cobwebs everywhere not been dusted and dirty plaster in draws . Sleeping in a dust filled room which smelt of mould . Kitchen sinks and second bathroom not cleaned properly. Filthy apartment. A total lack of pride in the place we hired this in 2025 and it was brilliant this yeah it’s totally different and I would not recommend this to anybody

Location was excellent for walking into Whitby town centre, also great location for getting to other areas via car. Great sized accommodation for the three of us. My main disappointment was the cleanliness, tables hadn't been cleaned or wiped over from previous guests. There was visible dust on the bed side cabinets & other surfaces. The whole place had not been vacuumed before our arrival & the shower cubicle in the ensuite requires a good clean. I'm happy to clean up after myself but I do expect the place to be clean on arrival.

A great stay with some minor complaints Positive: The location is great, a lovely sea view through the front window, en-suite bathroom and second bathroom with plenty of space made it a good living area. Cooking facilities were good. TV and WiFi. Beds were comfortable. Tea and milk sachets provided as well as toiletries in the bathrooms. Dishwasher and tablets were very useful. Didn't use the washing machine but was available. Negative: A lot of small complaints that built up. - Carpet in the main room needed cleaning - The blinds didn't have handles on all of the strings in the main room - Bedrooms need curtains if you want to sleep in past sunrise - Extractor fans in bathrooms had not been cleaned, hair or dust was blocking them. - Kitchen needed more utensils such as pizza trays. Freezer needed a defrost, was pretty full of ice around the drawers. - Couldn't find a plug for the main sink - Could have done with a clothes maiden for hanging washing. - Couldn't work out how to activate towel dryer / heater in en-suite bathroom

Fantastic trip Positive: Clean and stylish interior in a fantastic location. Negative: Nothing, I couldn’t fault the experience.

Wonderful location. Positive: The location of the property was fantastic. The living room has huge bay windows which made the room bright and airy. The family dining table was also placed in the bay windows which made it a perfect setting for having a meal. We could watch the sun set in the evenings as we ate dinner. The acoustics of the building were also very good. There was no noise or banging doors from other guests in nearby apartments. The TV in the living room was huge with every channel you could think of. The kids loved a bit of downtime after a busy day on the beach. The lighting system in the apartment was perfect. Everything from super well lit to low and relaxing in the evenings. The kitchen was superbly equipped with clean, new amenities including a washer/dryer.

Short stay long weekend. Positive: View and quite location. Beds comfortable. Negative: Parking. I think a parking permit would be a nice gesture. Most of local accomodation give free parking cards.

Positive: Liked location, comfy bed, lovely bath. Facilities good and warm inside. Large bedroom is super. Negative: Small bedroom awkward for two adults...no storage space and no room around bed.

Positive: Position of the apartment, view from the window was great, overlooking the sea. Had everything you needed in appliances, was very comfortable to just sit and relax in the evening after a day of exploring. Negative: Only thing that did annoy me was the radiator in the en suite didn't work so struggled to dry towels after using them.

On the whole it was a pleasant stay Positive: The location and view was excellent. The apartment was very clean and tidy and also very well equipped. It was comfortable and the rooms were well set out and spacious. We would definitely stay again on future occasions. Negative: We couldn't turn the heating on and it was very cold on arrival. There were several plug in heaters that soon warmed the flat up though. We couldn't get the towel rail in the en suite to work so had to use wet towels the following morning to dry ourselves on and it was very cold in the bathroom. Also, because there was a very strong drainage smell from the en suite, which was highly pungent, we had the keep the door closed, so were unable to heat the bathroom with the residual heat from the plug in heater in the bedroom.

Very nice accommodation, ready for a refresh and deep clean and stains on the carpets (from previous) bathrooms needed more attention to cleaning and few marks on the walls etc but very nice layout and quirky

Thanks so much - we had a truly lovely time in Whitby and the view out of the living room window was just awesome (in the true sense of the word). Felt very fit after climbing up the hill from the old town a few times a day!! Beds were super comfortable and water was always hot. My only suggestion is some more hand towels along with the bathtowels. There were only two and so washing hair was a bit of an issue as we'd run out of clean ones! Thanks also for the very helpful guidance on access and reminder of departure time etc.

Positive: The apartment was very clean and good location. Negative: Upon arrival i found the radiator in living room and master bedroom did not work.It was really cold..I had my 2 yr old who has disabilities and extra needs.There was no running hot water in kitchen, no tea towel or dish cloth and a tiny bit of washing up liquid which only done one wash. I had to have an engineer come out which ruined our first night..he could not mend radiators (there were electric heaters in the property..in the rooms where the heating didn't work)but could not use these due to being dangerous to my little one as he bottom shuffles.The engineer said an electrician would come first thing the following morning..He did not come so we were left with no heating in 2 rooms.The engineer had to move furniture to fit my travel cot in smaller bedroom but I could not sleep in there with my baby due to the bed being very very creaky.My child(who suffers seizures)had to sleep in a different room to me so he would be warm..I had to sleep in the freezing cold room. The living room was very cold on a morning due to radiator not working, I spent my break constantly messaging host and stay with no resolution of getting radiators fixed. This has completely ruined our break away. I have stayed in this apartment before,I know how everything works (this was the reason I booked again). I am so very upset over the whole situation.

Was ok Positive: Location was good & each room had its own bath/shower room Negative: On entering apt we noticed the carpet was grubby, with dirty marks & stains not like last time we stayed here. The kitchen mixer tap leaked pretty bad when water was turned on, this was reported but nothing got done about it whilst we were there. Radiator in lounge not working but I think the heating system had something wrong as there was extra plug in hearers in every room.

Loved it and for the money we will be back. Positive: I was dubious about booking having read the reviews. I thought the place was great, carpets were a little stained but looked to have recently been well cleaned, not smelly, sofa fine, no mould. It is a great find and I’ll be back Everything you need in a place even down to sugar fir my cuppa 👍🏼 Negative: The only criticism is that there aren’t enough pillows 1 each is not enough!! Could do with 3pm check in Everything else just brilliant, everything you want in holiday flat

Whitby was amazing. The loacation was great but the apartment was poor Positive: Location was great but apartment was poor in so many ways Negative: Check in was difficult. The apartment was not very clean. The standing lamp was tilting and the shade was dented. There was only 1 wine glass and 2 teaspoons. The toaster was very dirty. The fridge was also dirty. There was mould in the bathroom, 1 toilet roll only per room! and so on and so on. And we had to pay for parking which was extremely inconvenient. Not good at all

Positive: The apartment was perfectly positioned just a short walk into the town. After looking at previous reviews regarding cleanliness I was a little apprehensive. I did bleach both showers on arrival as they did have mould around the base. I would say the main areas are clean enough though. Beds are very comfortable. Negative: Just a little more attention to detail and the apartment would be ideal. For example weeding the outdoor area and dusting higher areas to remove cobwebs.

Positive: Excellent location, good facilities, really comfortable beds. Kitchen great. Negative: Living room carpet was dirty and badly stained we had to hoover as it had not been done. The en suite shower we didn't use as it was so mouldy and both toilets weren't cleaned.

Positive: Nice renovation. Well kitted out. Great location Negative: Bedrooms felt a little damp due to being in basement. Bathroom needs a bit of attention with the mould in the shower. Found a pair of dried contact lenses on bedside table in main bedroom. We left them there.

Great location and Views but property needs attention. Positive: Great location and views, we love staying in this area of Whitby so we were very happy with that. Comfortable beds and the upstairs living area was nice. Negative: The apartment needs a really good deep clean, there is black mold in the ensuite shower and the whole of the downstairs (sleeping area) felt and smelt damp and foisty often with a drain odour coming from the ensuite bathroom. Perhaps some kind of dehumidifier could help. The carpets really need a clean, there are stains all over them, especially the living room one. I found a lot of dead flies and insects in the bedroom behind the sofa and the window sills and blinds needed cleaning. Many of the walls could do with a good touch up of paint. Outside the apartment was a dirty quilt, other rubbish and overgrown weeds, a shame as it could be a nice seating area for guests. There was a dishwasher but no tablets so we couldn’t start it before we left. The 2 previous years we have stayed at The Chiltern at Carlill House (another Host & Stay property) which was immaculate so this was definitely a disappointment especially as the break down of our bill stated a £60 cleaning fee! We also had free parking before which isn’t included at Beach View. Reading other reviews it is clear that the cleaning and mold issues have not been addressed as they are mentioned in reviews from over 2 years ago. It’s a real shame as this could be such a lovely place to stay but we probably won’t book it again.

Negative: First impression not good . External needs a good weeding and tidying up. For sale board and dirty quilt left outside the lounge window Internal window sills and blinds were filthy in every room Ensuite shower needs re mastic. Looks grubby. As the bedrooms were in the basement they felt damp at first. Had to open the windows but due to the lack of care outside it was not a pleasant view Such a shame .

Positive: The location was great Negative: Our bathroom downstairs lino was ripped hence couldn't close door so couldn't use shower as there was 4people staying also we were supposed to check in at 4 had to ring round didn't get in apartment till 5pm

The view and location was wonderful! Needs a little help to make guests feel welcome. Positive: The location was great. The view to the park and the ocean view were wonderful! Negative: The lock box for the keys was tricky. It took a few times to make it work. There was very little dish soap, no dishwasher soap or laundry soap. When I texted the host about it, they said it was not provided. When I have traveled to other apartments, other accommodations provided some soap to use things like the dishwasher or washing machine if they are advertised as having them in the apartment. As someone who is only there for 4 nights, am I expected to provide my own soap? Also, the door on one of the bathrooms was too tall and caused the vinyl floor to rip when we shut the door. Host and Stay was very accommodating when we called to report it. It was stressful for us that it happened and seemed like the caretaker should have noticed it before. Also, the address was not clearly marked. The name of the accommodation and the street number was listed on the building around the corner. We finally figured it out based on the address next door. The outside steps and entry had garbage (aluminum foil, paper wrappings, etc.) strewn on them. Other properties on the street were not like this. Not sure how often this property is checked for cleanliness. Inside was very clean.

Overall very good and convenient location. Property nice. Positive: Living room carpet needs a good clean. En-suite bed room bathroom had drain odour. Toilet roll holder needed in other bathroom. Beds really comfy. Good space, good kitchen utilities but couldn’t find any scissors. Nice dining table and view. Other than mentioned above, cleanliness good. Was a stain on duvet cover, turned it sideways as didn’t know what it was. Good to have streaming services on television. No noise from other apartments.

We had the perfect place, with the best views in Whitby, will definitely be coming back. Positive: The property was very clean and tidy and was in the perfect location, the views from the living room where amazing. Negative: There was nothing I cannot say I didn’t like about it at all.

Blind cords too high,had to stand on the table to open and close blinds.very dangerous! only 3 mugs and 3 spoons. The cooker was dirty. only one loo roll for 2 bathrooms. This was however a perfect location and decorated stylishly. Not happy about the waiver you have to sign before they release the check in details.A deposit should be 100'/, refundable. They charge a £25.00 non refundable insurance fee or a £250.00 deposit which is refunded several weeks after your stay minus £10.00 admin.

Disappointed Positive: Location was really good. Negative: Property was very dirty when we arrived. I had to hoover the whole place as the carpets were covered in bits. Also the windowsills and tables looked like they had t been cleaned too

Great stay in a lovely apartment. Positive: The location was fantastic, right on the sea front and just a short walk away from great places to eat, the town centre was a little further, but still within walking distance. Lovely sea view from the apartment ,it was very well equipped. Nice to see Yorkshire Tea in the tea caddy! Bed was very comfortable. We did like the upside down arrangement of the apartment as it made best use of the lovely view from the living space. would definitely stay here again, thank you for a lovely weekend. Negative: Can’t think of anything!

Good location very poor apartment. DIRTY Positive: The only thing we liked about the property was modern interior design and location. Negative: We didn’t like almost everything. First thing we saw when we walked in to the property was the dirtiness of the apartment. The coffee table was full of cup stains. The sofa was dirty , full of sand. We had to vacuum it, before we could sit down on it. Spider webs were hanging from the ceiling. The windows were that dirty we could barely see the outside. Both bathrooms were dirty and smelled very unpleasant. There were hair and stains in a bathtub. There was girt on the toilet lid, which I found disgusting. The apartment felt damp and smelled like mould. Thankfully the bedsheets were clean. Carpet on the staircase was that dirty , we were afraid to walk on it barefoot. We were very disappointed. If you are planning to stay at the apartment, make sure you bring cleaning products.

Beautiful building on top of the cliff side, 5 minutes walk down hill/steps to the main Harbour & attractions. Modern rooms with everything you need. Clean and tidy. View from the lounge is perfect but the bedroom view was a bit disappointing. Could only see the brick wall and the overgrown weeds within the flower bed. Obstructed the view. Other then that amazing stay and we would definitely book again in the future but a floor higher. Thanks again from us all.

The apartment was modern and well laid out for a break. The lounge area had amazing views over Whitby bay. The basement bedrooms smelt a bit musty but I don’t think anything could be done about it. My only negative comment is that after I had booked and paid for the apartment,, I was then informed I had to pay an additional accidental breakage insurance before they would give me access codes. I already had my own (better) insurance, but they would not accept it. I felt that I was held to ransom by a hidden cost which I didn’t need and was not informed about until after I had entered into the agreement.

Ideal property for our short stay in Whitby. Positive: Location and outlook over the sea. Only a 10 minute walk in to Whitby town centre or the harbour. Sea views from the living room. Negative: Windowsill in the bedroom with the ensuite was very dirty. Black scuff marks on the walls throughout. Small area outside the front of the property very overgrown, neighbouring properties were very tidy.

Great stay and would definitely book again with Host and Stay Positive: Location was excellent overlooking the sea (although, due to know ones fault, it was misty the whole time we were there) Ha. It was a short walk from the town center too which was great and not far from the Harbour. While we were there was also a bit of a music festival one which made our stay all the better. Negative: The only issue we had was the parking. I was under the impression that we had one free parking space but sadly this was not included through booking.com although the family staying in one of the other apartments had boked with airbnb and had parking included. It turned out expensive to park for 2 days especially as we had 2 cars. It would have been nice to have just one space!

Positive: We did but have a key for the outside door for the duration of our stay. We felt very unsafe knowing the door was unlocked while we slept at night. We also worried when we went out we would not get back into the apartment if another resident locked the door. Negative: See above. Let down by cleanliness and general wear and tear which would easily be rectified (seal round the bath, mucky walls etc)

On the whole the flat was very good. Needs afew things freshener up. A broken socket which I have reported. Our main thing which we were not happy about was parking. Last year we stayed _ got a parking permit which was great & gave us stress free thinking about where we could park. We were told this is not available now but we found old permits from March? I'm sure most people would like this, even if you had to pay.

Excellent accommodation, location was fantastic. Would definitely stay again. Only confusion was with the address provided as it was listed as the Sandbeck which was another property around the corner. When we went there the owner said it happens all the time and he would look into getting it sorted. Other than that it was perfect and we would 100% stay again in future
