Cottage is in a great location for some great walks/hikes. In a lovely quiet, peaceful village, a short drive from the nearest shop. Cottage was comfortable and well equipped for self catering. Lots of useful information about the area, places to eat, things to do etc. Two key boxes was a bit confusing, one is defunct but realised there was another one, so check in a bit tricky. Otherwise would thoroughly recommend to others. A great stay :)

Positive: Charming cottage feel, the downstairs is particularly nice to share time in. Good location. Lovely towels and linen. Very comfy double bed. Good parking and access to Peaks. Negative: Single beds are quite flimsy and uncomfortable for adults. Garden is overgrown, scruffy and unusable. Plugs without switches feels unsafe this day and age. Pages are missing from info pack - maybe reprint and bind it together.

Lovely comfortable cosy cottage. Positive: Lovely comfortable cosy cottage. Garden the dog could run around in. Pretty seating area over the road by the stream. Kitchen well equipped including dishwasher and washing machine. The room at the top with the piano was an unexpected treat. Negative: No dedicated parking but generally enough space on the road. Very steep stairs - not a problem for us but others might need to be aware. Shower not great.

Cute and comfortable - hope to return soon x Positive: Really cute, well appointed, child and animal friendly little cottage near to New Mills where we have family. We had a really lovely time and we felt at home and comfortable in this space. Negative: I think the hosts are fairly new at this so It took 24 hours to get the right WiFi code. But this was a small issue! A little manual with the relevant information would be helpful and I would definitely return to this lovely place. The bathroom is tiny, and the toilet is difficult for large people to use. But they have made good use of the space available and it’s very clean and tidy. The stairs are uneven and steep and not suitable for anyone who might find that challenging but they suited us, because they were way too steep for our french bulldog!!

Good location for visiting peak district. Able to walk along pavement (with a pushchair) to local village and cafe. Had a high chair for baby. Good cooking facilities. Stairs very steep so had to keep eyes on crawling baby constantly but not too much of an issue. Powerful shower!

Nice house, traditional with lots of character. Great location for walking & cycling in doorstep and lots of nice area short drive away. Clean, comfortable, well equipped. Nice village with shops and great playground / park area.

Disappointed with the condition of this cottage.There was a strong dog smell on arrival, the house felt tired & worn,with scuffed walls & stained furnishings. The biggest concern was the flooring.The laminate was poorly fitted, with lifting panels & raised screws. With 2 children, we had to cover these with furniture for safety. Holes in the upstairs carpets & loose bathroom tiles. The bedrooms were the exception, with clean-feeling linen & attempts of modernisation.The kitchen was well equipped but packed with the owner's belongings, leaving little space for guests. Most concerning was an agency email on our 2nd night reminding us we were liable for any damage,despite the obvious pre-existing damage.We raised our concerns but received only a generic response. We’ve stayed in several properties locally & would suggest looking elsewhere.We hope the owners see this, as the property needs attention and the agency needs to do a much better job of managing and reporting its condition.

Het was een heel gezellig en rustiek verblijf. De buren waren zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

We stayed for four nights in August while visiting family nearby. Very nice little cottage and amazing they've created three bedrooms and a tiny bathroom, plus an attic workspace out of the space available. The kitchen was very well equipped and the little garden and patio area at the back was nice for breakfast in the sun. Good hot water and water pressure. Our double bed was a bit squishy for us, and some softer pillows would have been nice. I was desk-working for the first couple of days and the large table and nearby plug socket (I took an extension lead) nearby made that very easy. There's parking right by the front door, and nearest shops in New Mills less than a mile away. Thumbs up, basically.

Cute little mill cottage, nice location, beautifully quiet. Positive: Lovely location, really quiet and easy to park our 2 cars. Pretty row of mill cottages with a lovely stream opposite. Cute little cottage, very homely and suited our multi generational stay to visit our family in nearby Poynton really well. Could have done with two sofas the same size as with 4 adults we needed to fight for the good sofa. Mainly Ikea kitted out so we found it good & functional. Nice place to relax with our dog too as very dog friendly. Negative: The property had a fenced garden which was great for dogs & children but the fences were damaged so the holes meant our little dog could have got out had he chosen to. He was well behaved and didn’t. The garden lets the cottage down & needs attention as it’s not in good condition; the grass was very badly cut so not ideal for our busy 2 yr old as very lumpy and rough but he’s a country kid so didn’t mind at all - but at least there is a garden. The bathroom is very small, too snug for a family of 5 occupancy if it hadn’t have been just for 2 nights. Only one hand towel between all 5 of us was an issue but we did have 2 bath sheets between 4 adults as the bath towels in the bunk room were too small for adults. The top room didn’t get used as too hot & very steep steps. I need to take bigger mugs with me I’ve decided as they were a bit small. Watch the lounge floor, there’s screws holding the laminate so don’t go barefoot and watch tiny toes! I could have done with some basic welcome info about the cottage in general at the property about bins, recycling etc instead of always logging into the info via booking.com ( old fashioned I know! )

My second visit to the lovely Batemill cottage. Wonderful location on the edge of the Peak District with access to some great walks. The maps and books provided by the hosts were much appreciated. Lovely kitchen with all the equipment you could possibly want for cooking your own meals. Another excellent stay. Thank you and I’ll be back!

I had a 10 night stay booked and left after one night Positive: Nothing Negative: This place is an absolute disgrace and is not fit for rental. There is a foul odour, everything smells including the bed sheets. Nothing is PAT tested there are loose cables and sockets plugged into extensions everywhere. The flooring is uneven with raised nails and dirty surfaces.

Cute cottage in a lovely town Positive: Good location, near to the Sett Valley Trail. There's a lot of condiments and spices so no need to buy your own. Cute cottage with all the necessities. Negative: One of the bedrooms has a sofa bed, which you need to get the balance right, otherwise it folds while you're laying on it.

Lovely, cosy little house, right on the edge of the Peak's. Had everything we needed for our 3 night stay.

Batemill Cottage is perfectly located for exploring the many beautiful walks in the Peak District. The area is peaceful and quiet, making it a great place to relax. The house was spotless, with a well-equipped kitchen and very comfortable beds. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The hosts were responsive, helpful, and proactive with communication throughout. Would highly recommend for a break from the city

Beautiful, clean cottage in a gorgeous location!

Great stay, option for a later checkout would have been nice. Positive: Lovely location. Every kitchen appliance you could want for. Washer/dryer a bonus. Negative: Cucumber frozen to back of the fridge, mouldy spatula in the knife drawer. As mentioned in a review on the 25th May the WiFi password page is missing from the welcome pack so had to go through the PDF. Two lockboxes with same code and no label confusing on arrival.

Positive: The location was stunning and we enjoyed a run along the River Sett. Very cosy and met our needs. Negative: There was an important page missing from the Welcome pack which meant that we didn't have the WiFi password. We asked for the password and we were given the incorrect one so we had to figure it out as there was a typo. There were also 2 lockboxes - the one closest to the door was empty, which caused some confusion as we didn't expect there to be a second one.

Lovely location by the river, good walk to New Mills. Cottage was quite small but had everything we needed.

This was a lovely cottage in a great area. Very clean and tidy. Had everything we needed. We were the first guests and there were a few teething issues, however the owners responded quickly and were able to resolve them for us.

Lovely little cottage in a beautiful location. The owners provide everything you need. However, poor support from the host and poor communication. Had to chase for check in details. Too many calls regarding the check in form. No Wifi code provided before or during the stay, even after too many phone calls. Just seemed hard work when normally very smooth with other hosts/owners. Maybe I was just unlucky and these issues will be sorted out for the next guests.
