Weekend stay in Barnard Castle Positive: Lovely house. Perfectly located for walking distance to the town centre. Great little secure courtyard for dogs. Comfortable lounge and bedroom. Negative: Just an observation for anyone less moblle - staircase very steep.
A great little place to stay Positive: It was a lovely property close to the town. The cute little backyard was handy with a dog. Parking was easy and it felt very safe. It was exceptionally clean and it was a very chilled place to relax for two nights. Negative: I couldn't get the upstairs shower to work, which was an issue raised in a previous review. It needs clearer instructions if it is working as the 'press down' instructions definitely didn't describe what you were actually supposed to do. A microwave rather than a tiny dishwasher would be more useful in my opinion.
We had a lovely stay here. It is close to all the shops, cafes and pubs etc and the historical sights. The house is quaint and cosy and has everything we needed for a two night stay for four of us and our dog. The property was very comfortable and we felt at home. Lovely fish and chips and cosy pub near by which was dog friendly. It is our first time in Barnard Castle and we really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back.

Had a very nice stay for a few days for work. Lots of places to walk to eat in the town, and nice walks around the castle just a couple of minutes from the door. Comfortable - particularly the sofa - and a nice little yard which gets a bit of sun in the evenings. My room had an en-suite, but if you were two couples staying here then worth bearing in mind the second bedroom would only have the particularly small bathroom off the kitchen.
What a fabulous cottage - so well located, quiet and has everything you need. Lots to do in the area and lots of lovely pubs/restaurants within 5 mins walk - really was perfect! Road is a little narrow for parking big cars - it really wasn’t an issue at all as lots of free parking nearby! The property is well looked after with a pretty yard and super clean - thank you! The independent food shops in Barnard Castle are worth the visit themselves - plus Farmers market on Saturdays! Really was such a great mini break!
Was a great stay with the family for an event we were going to. Really enjoyed it especially that there was a place to walk our dog really close by
Great location, cosy house, perfect. Positive: Great location just off the main street but quiet abd free parking outside. Loved the quirky layout of the house, nice secure yard for the dog to go out, cosy and comfortable, a well stocked kitchen. Everything you need, could have stopped another week (or actually moved in!). Negative: Nothing really.
This cosy place is in a nice location with a handy courtyard (for dogs or enjoying the weather). There were ample kitchen supplies (but no freezer). The instructions were clear and the communication was very good. The TV does not work well - no arial or standard channels, just smart TV either poor WiFi. Unfortunately the place was not the cleanest when we arrived. There was caked on dirt/food on the living room rug and the bedroom bin was still full of used tissues. Also used drinks bottles left on the bedside cabinet which left me feeling apprehensive about the cleanliness of the place. The toilet in the bedroom en-suite is noisy and the door is a flimsy sliding door with little privacy (not the biggest issue for us). There were a few other small things that usually wouldn’t bother me, but the most concerning was the cleanliness of the place which was ignored when I messaged the host to feedback.
Positive: Very spacious. Comfortable bed, clean, well equipped. Close to town, quiet. Two showers and toilets. Good value if there are 4 in the group. We reported a fault and it was fixed next day Negative: I couldn't work out how to make the upstairs shower work and just had a bath instead In the downstairs shower it was hard to get the temperature right. The flooring and decor was a bit dated.
Really well located for the main areas of the charming Barnard Castle. The house had all the required amenities and the well-equipped kitchen punched above its weight for its size! Great space to hang out and use for a base and the quaint garden was really cute and a lovely sun-trap in the afternoon! Host was responsive when we had questions and dealt with things promptly when we raised. Lovely experience and would highly recommend.
We had a lovely stay at 29 Baliol Street. All home comforts, on street parking available at all times and position in the town was ideal for all amenities. Lovely high ceilings, the house was bigger than it appeared on the outside.

Not impressed due to issues. Wouldn't go there again. Not recommended. Positive: Cooked own. Self catering. Negative: No hot water down stairs, air fryer not working, heating system did what it wanted, dangerous high step into rear bedroom, not safe for anyone elderly or child, had to buy microwave to cook anything. Back bedroom door wouldn't close properly.
Throughly recommended as a base to explore Barnard Castle. Host & Stay were responsive to queries and we enjoyed our weekend.

Great place to stay, very comfortable, clean, and a great location. Hosts were beneficial with communications.
1. Was phoned the day before arriving to be offered early check in for £30 2.REMOVED 3.Parking very much a concern if you have a decent car. 4. REMOVED 5. T.V. not connected to any cable or ariel so no live channels. 6. Upstairs toilet made VERY loud nojse when flushed so could not use during night. Also cheap plastic bifold door on bathroom was very noisy. 7. Was sent email to be out by 10am.or they would charge penalty, also to leave accommodation tidy despitebekng charged £60 for cleaning.!!!
Enjoyable stay at Baliol Street, Barnard castle. Great location, house very well presented, maintained and very comfortable. Easy access to the rest of the north east and right in the centre of Barnard Castle. Have no hesitation in staying again. Recommended host.
Lovely home in an excellent location, less than 5 minutes to walk to the Main Street. Can get parked right outside although it is a very narrow road. The garden offers a small and secluded sun trap and is completely secure.
