Cosy flat, brilliant location Negative: The stairs, my fault, I should have read the description more carefully. 2 flights of stairs to get into the flat, no good if you are of limited mobility ( or just old!)

We had a fantastic stay at Anchor Reach. The apartment was in an ideal location and was finished to an extremely high standard. The pictures on the listing are accurate and communication with the host was very prompt. All in all, a perfect stay at a very reasonable price.

A perfect centrally located property. Modern and extremely clean. I stayed with two children and there was plenty to do. TV’s in every room. Looked exactly like pictures. Will be staying again.

The apartment is in a fantastic central location and it is furnished to a high standard - like a boutique hotel. Great communication and instructions from the owners. Highly Recommend.

Great location in central Whitby. Lovely high spec furniture just a few tweeks required. Positive: Anchor Reach had Beautiful decor. Fully equipped. Brilliant location. Comfy beds -aesthetically very pleasing. Negative: Cleanliness of entry hall was poor-feathers and dirt up stairs and in hallway. The info on the site does not highlight the stairs to get to the apartment and within the apartment which in total is 50 odd stairs to get to the bedrooms. In one bedroom there was no mirror at all. In the other there was nowhere to hang any clothing. Although two bathrooms, only one had shower so they could not be used independently by two sharing couples. No hooks or airers to hang towels. Beautiful looking apartment but lacked a few practical items.

Terrific apartment, central location. Positive: We stayed here with friends for two nights and were really impressed with the quality of the apartment and the value for money for the stay. The location couldn’t be better – on Baxtergate so right in the centre of Whitby, but despite this, we had no issued with noise. The apartment is very well equipped with high quality furniture and furnishings, and the lovely living space and kitchen was ideal for us to chat with our friends. The messages from the hosts were useful, especially the online guidebook. We would definitely consider staying here again. Negative: It’s a shame that the downstairs bathroom doesn’t have a shower over the bath.

Good location but so dirty I wouldn’t stay there again Positive: Good location and very comfortable Negative: Very dirty. The dish washer stunk and was not working. I reported the issue and took them two days to fix it, after I had chased, they didn’t not give me any updates

Fabulous central Whitby find Positive: The apartment was comfortable and spacious and in a fabulous location Negative: Noisy first thing from 6am onwards, due to deliverys and scaffolding been put up next door, however, it is based in the centre of town in a commercialised area.

Positive: Lovely apartment fairly clean Negative: Only 1 key that you had to go down an entry for which if you not steady on your feet is not ideal very noisy in the morrning with all delivery to the shops so you either boiled with the window shut or was woken by the noise

We would stay in a cottage in a quieter nicer area next time Negative: It was far too hot in there without a fan or aircon and the windows only opened a little bit - and the seagulls meant zero sleep! Kitchen short of dinner knives (which didn’t bother us as we didn’t cook, but it might bother the next guests). Also only a couple of unmatching Prosecco flutes The external 3rd floor window was very unsightly covered in bird poo, perhaps blinds would be a good idea….although appreciate that window isn’t easy to keep clean! Property generally clean but top floor floors and floor lamp shade in the main bedroom was incredibly dusty… see pic Dishwasher we were unable to use at all during our stay as it was showing an E01 error code. See pic.

Lovely property in a central location, and conveniently close to the train station and long stay car parks. I would definitely book to stay again.

Negative: Just a bit of attention to detail. Couple of blinds damaged and not able to close properly. Only one champagne glass- no wine glasses!! Never stayed anywhere with no wine glasses before. No useable mirror in either bedroom. No washing up liquid or dish cloth

Great place to stay in Whitby. Would book again Positive: Location ideal for everything in Whitby. Apartment was clean and comfortable. Decorated and furnished to a high standard. Negative: Room with twin beds didn’t have decent mirror and was a little inconvenient having to go downstairs to use the bathroom through the night.

Positive: The Baxtergate Apartments are wonderful! Impeccably presented, spotlessly clean, and perfectly situated right in the heart of town. Communication throughout our stay was excellent, making everything effortless from start to finish. The apartment is beautifully decorated, well-equipped, and has clearly been thoughtfully put together with guests' comfort in mind. We felt at home from the moment we arrived. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would highly recommend Baxtergate Apartments to anyone looking for stylish, comfortable accommodation in a fantastic central location. ::: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely deserving of five stars! Negative: Only the huge amount of stairs but we were aware of these. :)

Fabulous stay Positive: This is a wonderful apartment set in a great location. It is split across 3 different levels, as most places are in Whitby. The first set of stairs takes you to the doorway of the apartment, then you have a second set of stairs that takes you to the floor where there is a toilet with a bath in it, a kitchen and a lovely sitting room with a dining table and TV. The third staircase takes you up to 2 large bedrooms, one of which has an ensuite with a shower. Automatic lighting lights the stairs at night too as needed. This was a really lovely stay with everything that we needed. Negative: On the whole this is a brilliant place, the only thing I would suggest is having somewhere to hang your clothes in the bathroom with the en suite and replace the giant fun fair type mirror with a better one older getting ready. The other bedroom could do with a bigger mirror on the wall too. The only thing that was a little disappointing was that the floors weren't all that clean and there was confetti left from a previous stay and litter in the twin bedroom, but that was minor and we would happily stay here again.

Positive: Very modern Clean and comfortable Great location Negative: Raised an issue as felt if those in the property did not highlight a problem, then owners would not know. Whilst management company responded immediately, we were offered maintenance to come the same days which we declined and arranged for following morning, I requested before 10am, was the told cannot guarantee a time, and if we were not i we would be charged £60 ! This was mot my problem, agreed to leave keys in key box, they did turn up !! Not the service the owners would be expecting i assume!

I feel let down. Positive: A good attempt at an attractive apartment let down by poor maintenance. Negative: Broken dishwasher with “Do not use” sign and no notice of when it might be fixed. Missing and broken blinds, wallpaper peeling off the walls and incompatible coffee pods left for the type of machine offered. Nothing outrageous but all frustrating and signs of lack of care for guests. Finally, advert for the property states there’s parking. I feel duped as there’s no parking at the property but pay and display parking (only?) 50yds an away but at extra cost.

Great location and beautiful apartment 👌🏼 Positive: Fantastic location, beautiful apartment and well equipped, considering in the middle of location it was very quiet. Negative: Another set of keys would be ideal , poor internet. And the constant barking of the dog next door !

Fabulous Positive: Simply put the place is fabulous and enhanced our trip no end. Location is superb, the property spacious and the facilities modern and well-kept. Beds are comfy and way better seagull-soundproofed than other places I’ve stayed in in Whitby. Will certainly stay here again. Negative: The floor is a little creaky when walking around. We’re not sure whether the extractor in the shower room was working properly.

Positive: The decor was lovely, beds comfy, sheets and bedding very clean. Central location. Car park close by. Ideal. Prosecco glasses. Negative: Can't think of anything.

Good location and value. Positive: Great location, fantastic modern spacious apartment. Negative: Nothing, well apart from one of the window blinds which came away from its fitting and hit my head! Looking at it, poorly fitted, however the rest of the property was to a high standard.

Positive: We really enjoyed our stay it was clean spacious ideal location for all the pubs shops and restaurants train station is central to the fishing town you can also pay to park your car over night. Negative: Didn't like the lights on the landing inside apartment and outside apartment they didn't come on when dark until you got down the stairs other than that was a great place

The apartment is beautiful, cozy, very clean, and well located. It is well equipped (although a bit surprising to find a coffee machine but no capsules or tea). What I found less positive was the communication. The repeated reminders about “accidental damage” felt excessive and created unnecessary pressure, as this is already covered in the check-in form. The departure instructions also asked to leave the property “clean and tidy,” which is of course common sense, but the wording made it unclear if I was expected to vacuum and clean for the next guests😄 Together with the repeated reminder 10am checkout, this gave the impression of being rushed out and not fully trusted. Overall, the apartment itself is lovely, but the communication style made the stay less comfortable than it could have been

Beautiful apartment in fantastic location Positive: Fab location near train station and close to harbour, shops, bars and restaurants. Beautiful decor, spacious living spaces and bedrooms. 2 bathrooms. Complimentary toiletries, tea, coffee and milk. Had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Would definitely stay again. Negative: A few of the blinds at the property were broken meaning they couldn't be closed at night. I assume this is due to wear and tear from other holiday makers before us. They were beautiful blinds but maybe not the most practical for an apartment being let out. The main way this affected our stay was that the twin room was not as dark as it could have been for sleeping due to one blind being broken and it not being possible to cover that window at night. Luckily with it being up high it wasn't really a problem in the mornings for privacy for getting dressed due to the view being mainly other property rooftops. A window in the twin room was shattered, maybe from a bird flying in to it at some point? It didn't affect our stay but is always better if things like this are repaired as soon as possible before next guests. It would have been great if both bedrooms were en suite or if a shower was fitted above the bath in the downstairs bathroom. Couldn't find any other faults other than these couple of minor things.

Negative: It was a little bit dirty , tooth paste on the bathroom wall . Dust and cob webs in bedroom . It’s fine just maybe the clean was rushed . I’d never complain about it because it was fine just because this question has come up .

Great location

Surprise men's underpants! Positive: The apartment is beautifully decorated and in a very convenient location. Comfortable furnishings and beds, modern decor. Negative: The place is dirty and not cleaned properly at all. Many previous reviews comment on uncleanliness and each time Host and Stay say they will rectify but they have not at all. It is such a simple thing to achieve and this place would achieve 5* reviews. 1.Entrance hall covered in dead flies - someone has tried to sweep them up on a windowsill but just shoved them in a pile behind a vase to hide them! 2. Balls of fluff and dirt all over the floors and rug in lounge, filthy and clearly not vacuumed in some time. I swept all the floors for you. 3. Coffee/cup marks on surfaces - easily wiped up. 4. Bedroom dressing table covered in a sticky substance that damaged a bag that was placed on it before we realised. Again I easily cleaned this up for you. 5. Drawer in bedroom dressing table full of someone's rubbish - I put this in the bin for you. 6. Drawer in wardrobe had screwed up bedding and towels in - used maybe? 7. The icing on the cake was when we discovered a pair of men's pants on the shelf of the TV cabinet - nice. They are still there, so it would be interesting to see if the next occupants have found them or if Host and Stay have done anything about it! All of theses things were reported to Host and Stay who are now 'investigating' - I'm not an overly fussy person at all but in the light of Host and Stays rather aggressive terms and conditions and reminders of taking money via the Waiver if anything is damaged etc...I took great pains to report these issues. Clearly they do not check the properties at all but seem to demand that everything is left perfect. Another example - only 3 eating knives in a property that sleeps 4. Nothing is checked before arrival of new guests and bare minimum cleaning is done. I asked for the cleaning fee to be returned seeing as I had done most of it but as yet......... As I said, this could easily be a 5* place but severely let down by the cleaning that could easily be sorted.

Lovely apartment and decorated, styled to quite high standard. Location spot on but apartment was hugely let down by the dirty entrance hall with lots of dead flies lying around which had been there sometime as big pile on the window ledge. Shame as it is quite off putting!!! New cleaners required as this issue has been mentioned numerous times.

Positive: Location was great Negative: 4 flights of stairs windows not opening blinds falling down and quite noisy at night the entrance to the problem was dirty and the bin aeria was disgusting

We loved this apartment because of its location, so central and it meant we could easily nip back as and when we needed to. Despite being on a shopping street, it was quiet at night and it was lovely popping down to Bothams to get fresh bread in a morning. Bedrooms did get hot as you're about three floors up but we went in summer heat. Kitchen, bathrooms etc were very clean. Be aware there's a lot of stairs but it's very spacious. One slight negative is there needs to be another armchair in the living room. One chair and a small sofa was a squeeze, three people on that sofa is too cramped. We would definitely recommend and stay there again.

This apartment is really Comfortable and spacious. Location is ideal. 24hr parking is quite a walk but not too bad an issue. Need better instructions on how and where to find key safe. Had to make phone call to establish this. Otherwise great stay

Lovely place but could do with a dust quite dusty /cobwebs in lots of places Also found what looked like pink nail polish on the white bedsheets On opening the door into the main entrance of the building we climbed the stairs to the apartment to find lots of dead flys under the radiator Which wasn’t a welcomed sight seeing that everyday before we went into our apartment Over all the apartments is very spacious and comfortable just not clean enough for us Also we have stayed in Whitby quite a few times and are used to a welcome package which is always welcomed missed this from this apartment

Good should have been best if it was clean. Negative: Cleanliness, Floors are not been cleaned for a while dust everywhere need to do a bit of cleaning and sweeping the floor as we enter.

Anchor Reach is in an ideal position for getting about , shops on the doorstep for any needs including the lovely Bothams bakery ! 5 mins walk to the coop just over the road too ....lots of space in the apartment over two floors , lots of stairs to climb with luggage but we'll worth it

Absolutely perfect location. Secondary double glazing made it very quiet. Lovely big kitchen and huge bedrooms. Spotlessly clean. Lovely big lounge area with dining table. Very modern and very nice. Very helpful host - we asked if we could drop our bags and fridge stuff off earlier than 4pm and it was no problem. Keys were easy to access and apartment easy to find. Would highly recommend.

Good location, tastefully furnished apartment. Positive: The apartment is in a good location. It it very modern inside and everything looks new. Negative: The entrance let’s the property down, lots of post on the floor. The apartment was clean apart from the floors which had a lot of dust gathered under the furniture and behind the doors.
