Enjoyed the first 3 days was marred with problems stated above . Positive: Close to all amenities . Separate bedroom . Decent size bathroom . Ground floor . Negative: Bed squeaked .extractor fan did not work in bathroom . Awful smell in bathroom. Tree outside of bedroom needs cutting down or trimming . Kept banging off window during the night we got no sleep on the last night .nail protruding through carpet in bedroom near bedroom window , husband stood on it did not see it , stuck in foot .

Nie wieder HOST & STAY! Positive: Die Lage ist ganz gut. Negative: Bei Ankunft war die Wohnung nicht sauber, überall hingen dicke Spinnweben, die Tagesdecke vom Bett war vollkommen fleckig. Die Größe der Wohnung ist nicht , wie in der Anzeige steht, 90 qm, sondern nur 35 qm. Es gibt keinen Kleiderschrank. Das Sofa ist fleckig und zum Teil beschädigt. Die Küchenausstattung ist unzureichend, die Teflonbeschichtung der Töpfe und Pfannen beschädigt. Handtücher und Bettwäsche gibt es nur einmal in 4 Wochen - es war vorher extra angefragt worden und schriftlich bestätigt worden, dass der Wäschewechsel jede Woche erfolgt. Regale in den Küchenschränken fehlen vollkommen. Die Fensterrahmen in der "Wohnküche" sind mit dicker Lackfarbe überstrichen und lassen sich nicht öffnen, sodass ein Lüften der Wohnung nicht wirklich möglich ist. Das gesamte Haus ist derartig hellhörig, dass man wirklich jeden Laut aus den benachbarten Wohnungen hört. Während die umliegenden Hotels und Pensionen Parkgenehmigungen an ihre Gäste herausgeben, da es hier kein freies Parken und Zeitzonen gibt, mussten wir unser Auto an jedem Tag! in 4 Wochen auf einen kostenpflichtigen Parkplatz bringen und haben insgesamt fürs Parken alleine über 200 £ ausgegeben. Außerdem werden keine Europa-Adapter zur Verfügung gestellt. Nie wieder Host&Stay! Mir tut es im die Eigentümer der Wohnung leid, weil sie bestimmt nicht wissen, was hier passiert.

It is a perfect base for an adventure holiday Positive: Excellent location, lovely 10 minute walk to both beaches. The apartment was nice and tidy, and the bed was very comfortable. A good base camp for exploring. Negative: We couldn't figure out how to use the oven, and the wifi was unreliable. However, this did not affect our holiday in any way, and we were sure we could have just messaged the host to sort it.

Absolutely loved my short and sweet stay in this beautiful apartment. It was such a lovely space to be in, I almost didn’t want to explore the city, as the accomodation was so nice. But very very easy walk into town and had some of my favourite meals in the UK here. The host Jordan made check-in seem-less, was very helpful and friendly upon my stay, with any questions I had and travel tips. Would absolutely recommend and stay here again if I came back to York! Thank you

We had a great stay, would stay again. Positive: Property was clean and well equipped. It was in a great location. Negative: Noise from apartment above, you could hear their tv and water gushing everytime they use it. We could’ve done with instructions for the oven.

Lage super, Rest ausbaufähig Positive: Die Lage ist überaus gut, es ist sehr nah an der North Bay, aber Castle und Altstadt sind auch schnell zu Fuß erreichbar. Die Zimmeraufteilung ist gut, es wird im Sommer nicht heiß in der Wohnung. Bei Rückfragen kommt immer sehr schnell eine Antwort, selbst am Wochenende. Man schreibt mit einer Art Hausverwaltung. Hat man spezielle Fragen zur Unterkunft (wie wird die Heizung im Bad angeschaltet?), bekommt man nur allgemeine Hinweise, da die Person selbst wohl noch nie in der Wohnung war (entweder am Gerät selbst oder mit einem Schalter im Bad, der irgendwo sein kann -> er war draußen im Vorraum auf Knöchelhöhe). Eine Erstausstattung an Tee/Kaffee/Zucker/Milchsäckchen/Geschirrspültabs wird zur Verfügung gestellt. Negative: Da sich nur die Fenster im Schlafzimmer öffnen lassen, kann man nicht ordentlich lüften. Besonders in der Früh ist es deshalb im Wohnzimmer recht stickig. Rückfragen werden zwar rasch bearbeitet, aber eine weitere Decke oder Leintuch werden nicht zur Verfügung gestellt. Ich wollte meinen schnarchenden Partner auf die Couch ausquartieren. Größter Minuspunkt waren fehlende Kleiderschränke. Ich hätte das natürlich bereits auf den Fotos erkennen können, aber ich wusste nicht, dass es Unterkünfte ohne Kasten überhaupt gibt. Es ist ein offener Kleiderständer mit 2 Stangen vorhanden. Für Kleidung, die man legen will, ist kaum Platz vorgesehen. Beim Nachtkästchen gibt es eine Lade und unterhalb sehr viele Spinnweben. Der Boden ist in Vorraum und Schlafzimmer mit dickem Teppich ausgelegt, der schon recht fleckig ist und sich an den Türschwellen löst. Mir war nicht bewusst, dass die Wohnung im Erdgeschoss liegt. Man kann es auch rückblickend nicht an den Innenaufnahmen der Fenster erkennen. Dass Waschmaschine und Wäscheständer vorhanden sind, ist super! Waschmittel hatten wir selbst mit. Aber die Wäsche trockenet nur sehr langsam und riecht dann modrig. Ich wollte sie nicht nach draußen stellen, da der Bereich offen ist. Die Waschmaschine ist in der Küche verbaut, also stets geschlossen, das hat man beim Öffnen auch sehr stark gerochen. Wer weiß, wie viel Schimmel da schon gewachsen ist.

North Marine house, Anchor apartment, Scarborough review Positive: Location was good main stay was for outdoor theater , layout of rooms was OK,large modern TV, large walk in shower, bathroom clean, modern looks, fair price Negative: On arrival for our three night stay found Very Poor internet signel, obvious signs of wear and tear to sofa buttons missing , and cleanliness was questionable as cobwebs on walls in some areas, dirty windows, dusty blinds, lounge rug had visable white dog hairs and generally looked dirty. crack on one front window should have been repaired, found dirty cup in cupboard, only two forks for cuttelery?, no splash back near cooking area (hob) which we didn't use, but old fat stains on paintwork visable should have been tiled ? so looked dirty, previous poor repairs to worktop and other items. Bedroom mattress extremely soft, so for us uncomfortable. Bathroom was OK,, sink being close to the door and not tiled fully around? , so again staining on paintwork just doesn't look good, towel hook hanging off poorly repaired. Should have a parking permit to go with the apartment would be a good idea.. Though we were disappointed it sounds worse than it was, but some small improvements could have made such a difference.

Positive: We enjoyed the location as its close enough to both bays, and has nearby shops and facilities to make a longer stay easy feeling, it was clean, spacious and feels more premium then typical hotels. Negative: You could occasionally hear other guests banging around/talking, this didn't bother us personally but worth noting in case that may be an issue. Also the lamp in the bedroom didn't work during our stay so we either had to use main lights or no lights.

We were pleasantly surprised at how modern and well equipped the apartment was. Positive: The apartment was very clean and had all the facilities that is needed for a short stay. Negative: The property was fine. It’s a little shame that the area in general was a little tired. But it’s in a great location for the beach etc

Positive: Unfortunately we didnt get chance to stay as we couldn't get in the property Negative: No instructions for key locks, on hold with the helpline for over 30 mins so had to contact booking.com who also sent a message with no reply which ended in them cancelling this booking and hopefully we will get our refund

The flat was extremely dusty, it was as if nobody had been in it for a long time. The floor was also very dirty. The bed and especially the sofa were not good at all, really not up to standard given the price.

El boton del agua caliente no funciona o lo hace a duras penas. Me he tenido que duchar 3 días con agua fria. El colchon de la cama es de muelles y bastante viejo.. muy incomodo. Nada recommendable el apartamento

Disappointing second visit Positive: This was our second stay,we were happy to return but it wasn't as good this time as last time. Negative: The overall cleanliness was poor, especially in the bathroom. There was a strong smell of drains and it didn't appear to have been thoroughly cleaned. Absolutely lovely, loved Whitby and Robin’s hood bay and enjoyed Scarborough castle. Positive: Anchor apartment was lovely, was very clean on our arrival, well equipped and comfortable. Negative: I don’t like to be negative as we had a great time away, but There is a tree right outside the back of the building which is very overgrown. It was very windy on our first night and the tree constantly banged on the building and window all night. We literally had hardly any sleep. Also I reported that I couldn’t turn the oven on, I was asked to email a photo of the oven and someone would get back to me with instruction of how to turn it on. Disappointingly nobody got back to us so we had to make do with the hob and microwave and had to eat out more than we planned to. We did see a cleaner in the building and asked her if she knew how to turn it on but she couldnt do it either. This however wouldn’t stop me returning.

The apartment looks nice in pictures. but in reality the furniture is cheap and uncomfortable. The bed squeaks with each turn. You can hear the upstairs neighbours talk, snore, walk around as if it's in the room. The window in the bedroom is unable to be opened as outside is just overgrown bushes and what sounded like birds or other critters scurrying about. 1 towel each for 3 night stay. No extraction in the bathroom. If you want to use the oven you have to press a random button on the clock for it to turn on. We found this out accidentally as it was not mentioned in the online guestbook and didn't get a response from the host til a few hours after. If you want to use the hob no idea how that works and again not mentioned. On the plus side it's a very short walk to the north bay and the little railway and there's a cafe just down the road on the corner that's alright.

Positive: Very comfortable and relaxing,very modern, liked that all appliances were available if needed. Negative: The bathroom wasn't paticularly very clean the toilet was all stained up at the bottom and the shower floor was dirty all round the edges.9

Just ok Had issues with the hob as it was more modern than we were used to. No instructions for the coffee maker, or how to put on the towel heater in the bathroom. You really need to remember people our age need a little more help ! The worst thing was the bed, it was the worst thing I have ever tried sleeping on, it was like trying to sleep on a bouncy castle.Finally the place was full of cobwebs, every room I was expecting Miss Haversham to step out at any time.

Positive: Clear and easy-to-use check-in details. The apartment is well-equipped with everything needed. Good location and is close to main attraction. Negative: Parking. The permit allows 2 hours outside the apartment, we then had to pay for parking in a pay-and-display car park.

By far the dirtiest apartment we have EVER stayed in anywhere in the UK!!! Positive: The location Negative: On Entering the property we were pleasantly surprised, and then after we brought our luggage in we began to look around the rooms. On inspection, every room was draped in cobwebs. These were not small and had indeed been there for a number of months at least. The living room was absolutely draped in them. It was quite disgusting to have a blanket of them above the bed and even the bathroom did not escape. The bed was appalling and was the cheapest, noisiest bed ever! It must have come from a budget shop, a shoddy affair with squeaky springs and a headboard we had to put cushions behind to stop it making a noise when turning over in the night. There was a blanket at the end of the bed that had what looked like coffee stains all over it. The walls of the property were covered in stains and the bedroom wall looked like someone had spat down it. The bathroom was disgusting, again the cobwebs were everywhere. One was so large it looked like a light pull! The hand towel rail was hanging off the wall and there was dust and hair all over the floor. The worst part of the bathroom was the shower area. There was food on the walls in the shower cubicle. It looked as if someone had eaten a pizza in there. The living room/kitchen area was very dirty. There were personal items left under the sofa from the previous occupants. The kitchen walls were filthy with cobwebs everywhere. Behind the TV there were remnants from party poppers that had not been cleaned up. The walls of the living room were marked and stained badly. We contacted the property hosts who left a voicemail asking for photographs. We duly sent them and were deafened by the silence!!

Wonderful Positive: Location was wonderful for a walk to the seafront! Entryway was tidy and well cared for. The flat itself was beautiful! Comfortable, clean and tidy, and spacious. Internet provided. The apartment felt like a home from home - definitely a cozy hideaway! Negative: A few notes on how to use the cooker may have been handy, but we managed to figure everything out!

the apartment as a whole looked nice, it was in an okay area - close to both beaches. However the apartment wasn't cleaned well, in particular the bathroom wasn't very clean. The walls in every room were marked, cracked, in need of painting etc. The blanket on the bed was stained. Many of the facilities were broken including the coffee machine, cooker and hob. the apartment also wasn't very well soundproofed, we could hear all movement from the apartment upstairs, and could hear activity outside.

Positive: Lay out of the property and asthetics Negative: that attention to detail in what was meant to have been included, i.e.,no toileterries ,no hangers ,tea towel supplied was ingrained with old stains ,and matterres had old in grain stain with no mattress protector, there also seems as there needs some maintaining as the electric radiator came of the wall whilst trying to reach to open the blinds and bathroom towel rail was loose .and no plug guard in the shower

Was hard to find a 24hr carpark nearby so had to park a mile down the road. Was not cleaned well, urine on toilet seat, stains on walls, dusty, broken handle on blinds was replaced with a dirty plaster. Hole in the wall in bedroom. Broken drain cover in the bathroom which we slipped on.

A lovely little getaway from reality. Positive: I liked how it was in the middle of the south and the north bays which made it easy just to walk to either of them. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The rooms were very spacious and there was plenty of room in the fridge if you fancied to cook for yourself. Negative: The sofa wasn’t the most comfiest but that could just be personal opinion. Other than that I have no complaints.

Although this apartment was nice and clean and comfortable unfortunately we would not stay again. The listing stated that there was free residential parking, however there is NO parking. We had to park in a pay and display which was a 15 minute walk away. We were also charged £25.00 to cover insurance for damage and breakages. This was requested as soon as I had booked the stay and as the booking was not refundable I had no choice about making payment. Also, if you like to hang up your clothes I advice taking hangers. Although there is a rail in the bedroom there was not even one hanger supplied.

Really lovely stay. Clean, nicely furnished rooms and bathrooms and all amenities you could need. The only thing I would say is that is was advertised as free parking however when you arrive the manual sends you to paid council car parks and the streets are permit holders only. This wasn’t a problem for me though and I would absolutely book here again. Cannot fault the flat itself :)

Negative: The property was not of a high standard we had a person called Andrew clean the property we had left the first day as the blinds in the living room behind them there was mould all over the window sills I have a current chest infection and this property made my breathing 10xs worse I couldn’t get any photos because I had to travel 206 miles back to Cambridge

Would not recommend! Positive: The location was perfect for us. Negative: Firstly, we had to pay a damage fee of £25 before we got the key pad details. This charge should have been included in the booking price, or stated before we booked. Apartments should have discs or permits for parking outside. On entrance, the lobby had not been hoovered or cleaned, muddy marks all over the floor. When entering our apartment, it was freezing cold and first impressions were not great. Could have been a lot cleaner, the floor hadn’t been hoovered, as there was hair and food on the floor. The apartment looked like it hadn’t been dusted in a long time, mirrors were not cleaned, stains on sofa, walls and carpets. Bathroom definitely needed a deep clean. Mould around shower and what looked like toothpaste in the sink. On first glance we were happy with the facilities, however when we went to use the cups, glasses and cutlery we realised that they were not clean. Not to mention that we only had one fork. The bed was possibly the worst bed I have ever slept in. Did not get a good nights rest during our 3 nights at all. The noise in the apartment did not help that, you can hear everything around and above you. When leaving the apartment for an evening meal, we noticed that the door of the lobby had been left wide open, this is concerning! I am not normally one to leave a bad review, however I have recognised that other reviews for this apartment are very similar, and also share the same downfalls. The response from the company has often been “we have addressed these issues”. However you are not addressing these issues, when couples are constantly complaining about the same things! We would have chosen somewhere else to stay if we took into consideration the previous reviews! Nicer places to stay for your money!

Great location and flat

We found the property through airbnb and we were assured there was free parking on site. However, the listing should say free parking between 5pm and 9am and then disc zone parking for 2 hours at a time. You need to collect a disc from the shop up the road. We didn’t want to be out that early so parked about 5 mins away for £6.25 for 24 hours. The sockets had tripped when we arrived and the living room heater didn’t work the entire time we were there. The final night we put the oven on to warm the room. The accommodation was pleasant and modern. A few more basics would have been nice eg more than two knives and forks. However, the apartment didn’t seem to have been cleaned properly and there was grouting in the drain in the shower which made it look like there was poo in it. We also didn’t realise about the £25 insurance or £250 waiver you had to pay when you book. I understand this protects the property owner but adds to the price and we weren’t told about it in advance.

We will not be back Positive: The apartment is nicely decorated Negative: One set of towels each for four days is not good enough. Nor is two teabags. The bed is too soft and the couch is too hard - need to step up your game to match other providers. The additional insurance charge or deposit detract from the overall experience.

Our getaway Positive: The apartment was decorated to a high standard. Accessing the apartment was easy with the instructions given. Negative: We found the settee (sofabed) uncomfortable. Placemats and coasters would help protect the dining table. . Splashbacks or tiling in the kitchen area would enhance the overall presentation.

Attractive, well maintained accommodation. Positive: Reasonably high standard, modern facilities Negative: For me, the settee was a little on the firm side and there wasn’t a great deal of storage space.

Lovely apartment, which matches the photos. Walking distance to all amenities and peaceful enough to get a good night's sleep. Bed and linen was really nice. Slept well. Shops nearby for essentials. Info provided prior to check in was informative and likewise on checkout. Only slight gripe was the car parking was a fair walk from the property and cost an additional £9 per day. Overall though we were very happy!

Easy check-in, good location, with local shops nearby. Apartment was clean, and had everything for an amazing weekend. Nearby parking available at £9 per day.

Positive: It was in a good location not too far from everything you need. Negative: There wasn't a lot of storage in the bedroom, there were only 2 clothes hangers and 2 small drawers. You also had to buy your own household things such as hand soap and washing powder.

Nice flat - good location but parking not ideal Positive: Location was great (a short walk from town or peasom Park the other way). Room was clean and recently refurbished with nice modern kitchen. Shower was well done. Negative: Parking wasn't ideal. Other guesthouses on road have parking permits for guests but had to park in pay and display at end of street (5 min walk) which wasn't ideal having to go back and top up as it only offered 6 hours stay at time to pay. Although all the pictures look nice you only get one apartment so it's luck of the draw to which you get. We had ground floor room which was good for access but had noise of other guests and passing pedestrians.

Positive: Almost everything 😸 Negative: Very noisy. Sound proofing needs alot if concideration. Especially ground floor apartment next to stairs and front door. You may want to consider double glazing in the lounge area too. Found shower a little slippy when wet. Bed squeeky and mattress a bit soft for us.

The apartment with everything! Positive: The apartmen5t had everything you could possibly need - fridge, cooker, hair dryer etc. There isn't any parking but at the bottom of the road there is an NCP and the rates are good - about £9 for 24 hours. Negative: I can't really think of anything

Good location for open air theatre Positive: Close to open air theatre, but within easy distance of all main attractions Negative: bathroom could do with a little work, drain cover on shower missing which made it look dirty. Better instructions to operate heating especially the heated towel rail in bathroom.

Negative: Tried to email saying this but got no response so putting it here. We have recently just returned from our 4 night stay at the Anchor apartment in Scarborough from the 20th April until the 24th April 2022. Unfortunately it wasn't the best experience we have had, this was due to the electric going off on the first morning we were there (the Thursday 21st ). This issue wasn't resolved until tea time that day. Unbelievably, we woke up to the same issue on day four which was the Saturday. However this time it couldn't be resolved and we had to move to another apartment across the town. As you can imagine, it had a massive impact on how we could enjoy our holiday. Although the apartment that we moved to was nice, when we have had a look at the site not only was it cheaper than the one we originally booked it was also quite a distance from where we had paid to park our car. Everyone I spoke to at Host and Stay were lovely but it was so stressfull that I had to call in the first place as I am quite an anxious person. All of these factors resulted in the holiday not being as relaxing as we had hoped.

Anchor Apartment: April 2022 Positive: Decor and general vibe of the apartment was great. Apartment was clean and well-presented. The guide book was comprehensive. The interior is up to date and has obviously been influenced by someone with a keen eye for interior design. Overall it had a very metropolitan London sort of style which was wuite interesting for Scarborough! Negative: No view for the particular apartment we stayed in which was not obvious from the pics as the pics on the Booking were was all of the apartments together. Can't really be helped though due to building design. Couple of minor maintenance items: 1: The bed frame bolts need tightening as the frame itself is loose. I tightened them hand-tight but they will come lose again. Just needs someone with an alan key. 2: Door handle rose in bathroom is loose. Just needs tightening with an alan key. Comfort: 1: Sofa is obviously more leaning towards style rather than comfort. It did the job though, so all good.

Overall the place was nice on the surface, but needs a bit of tlc and attention to detail. Positive: We liked the idea of utilising an apartment. The washing machine was a plus, as was the dishwasher. Negative: The photos on the website suggested a view of the cricket ground to the rear. In fact the view turned out to be a very small courtyard and an annexe to the building - no view of the cricket ground. The site said the property didn't accept pets which was a plus. However, someone upstairs had a dog which we heard running around due to hard floors above, and there were muddy paw prints on the carpets outside our apartment. Also, it was not pleasant to be sitting in the apartment, which was located on the ground floor, to look out of the front window to see a large dog emptying itself in the front garden in front of our window. The place had repair issues, as there were cracks running down the walls, the worktop wasn't sealed properly and there was a good gap between it and the wall, there are no splashbacks behind the hob or sink and these were stained badly. There was some damp in the kitchen. The door furniture was loose and some of it hanging off, such as the scutcheon in the bathroom. The shower drain lacked a cover so we would need to stand on an open drain, and the drain itself was filthy. The walls in the bathroom, although tiled nicely, were filthy and had residue of grout. The walls were dirty around the sink. The hand towel rail was loose and hanging off. The front room window evidently hadn't been cleaned for a long time and there were cobwebs and dead spiders on the sash. The louvre blinds were missing pully-knobs and missing cover slips at the top, one of which was found propped up in the bedroom. The hall way also contained cobwebs at eye level, so clearly this area hadn't been cleaned. Although 2 remote controls were provided for tvs in the front room and bedroom, one of them did not work, so we had to keep taking the remotes from room to room. The bedroom contained no storage for clothing and although there was a hanging rail, it contained only 3 hangers, which was insufficent for two people for a week's clothing.
